2023.06.02 00:07 TwitchySphere53 Trying to Help a Friend

Hi all,
I am hoping this is the right sub to post this to but here is what is going on.
I have a friend who is struggling with dating. He is a guy in his late 20's and trying to find a girlfriend. His situation though is a little more difficult than your average dating problems.
First off he had many health issues when he was younger (I don't want to go into to many specific's) for all intents and purposes its a miracle that he is still with us. Because of these medical problems his growth was stunted significantly. Basically he is pretty short It is not like a case of dwarfism but basically he kinda of the stature of an average late middle school early high school kid. He also looks younger in his face too though he does have a bit of a beard.
Second due to all his medical history his life expectancy will more than likely be less than that of the average person. He is in a good and stable position nowadays but it is possible that this could change sometime in the future.
Third due to his situation he still lives at home with his parents (I know this is common enough but just thought I would add it)
He's a great guy, funny and can talk to people but hes not finding any luck on dating apps (meaning I'm pretty sure he's not getting to the first date), and going to gatherings of a lot of people like bars is not really the best place for him especially with his medical problems.
He's been getting a bit depressed lately though I suspect its been something he has been dealing with for a while. I just wanted to reach out and see if anyone out there has any thoughts or idea on how to help him find someone out there. Anything is appreciated thank you!

2023.06.02 00:05 tiegerplayer I feel bad for Tamlin... (i'm scared)

[I know that Tamlin is a hot topic and i will probably be crucified for my opinion but please just read through it and tell me what you think. I just want to have a little discussion and see a few other opinions.]

Tamlin was never my favorite. His whole introduction was really weird because he was this furious monstrosity that scared the shit out of the whole Acheron family (and he was described with blond hair xD). BUT after they arrived at his mansion he was really cute and sweet. Some say its the bare minimum but i think it was more than that. He even wrote her poems (using the words she had problems with). In the end he sent her away to keep her save. He never forced or pushed her to tell him that she loves him even if it was essential for him and the future of his court.
His behavior UTM was strange tbh... that he let Amarantha torture Feyre without intervening. But all the things Rhys did... omg... how he humiliated Feyre (don't get me wrong i understand why he did it and i love them together).
But after all... Tamlin really loved Feyre. In ACOMAF he is so traumatized after the events UTM that he can't help and imprison Feyre. One time were i lost it was, were he "exploded" and hurt her. Thats his way of dealing with the trauma but thats no excuse for him to hurt someone (even by accident).
Feyre left in the end and after that he is a broken, traumatized man that lost the person he thought understood him ("With thorns and all"). Due to his desperation he then betrayed feyre, hoping that things would go back to the way they were before. Can you really blame him for that? After everything that had happened, he just couldn't process the fact that he had lost the only person who loved him.
His accusations at the meeting before the war with Hybern were wrong and they have shown that he is not a good person, but keep in mind that feyre destroyed his whole court. his whole existence.. she took his best friend, his people, his reputation. After everything that happened between them. His reaction was very "human" (even though he is not a human lol).
And after all that he gets no redemption and elapses his existence... I feel bad for him... idk ..but he deserves better?
Please share your opinion and be nice. If I misrepresented something, please let me know.

2023.06.02 00:03 Charliewarliewoo Does anyone know any meat free, simple recipes?

My girl, 6, has never been to fond of meat. She would eat it maybe twice a week.
She's asked me recently if I could make more veggie dishes that taste delicious (her words, haha.)
My problem is, I always find 1000 step recipes with veggies that I have never heard off. Google just isn't helping me.
I don't want to hide the meat, as my family members have told me to do.
It just seems unnecessary to me. She doesn't like the taste of it so I don't want to, for lack of a better word, betray her by feeding her something she doesn't want to eat.
We live in Scotland. I've been trying to find dishes that are healthy, nutritious and tasty. I'm coming up with a loss though.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Signed,
A working mum that does everything in the house including childcare then goes to work.
P.S - even the most simple and basic recipes are appreciated. I just want to make my daughter happy.
Thank you in advance.

2023.06.02 00:01 jellysmacks I am entirely fed up with boxed-in thinking

It’s disturbing to me how little people respect their own observational or intellectual abilities, or the abilities of others around them. This seems to specifically be a huge problem when mental health is involved. Many people seek therapy or other forms of psychological help in the hopes that the one helping can teach them to understand themselves. Oftentimes they don’t understand that the one who is supposedly helping is only there to turn them into someone who fits in by societal standards instead.
I have no interest in being “fixed” or to turn my brain down a couple notches and live the rest of my days with values and goals that somebody else believes are important. I would, however, like assistance from somebody with training and knowledge in recognizing behaviors so that I can isolate my problems and correct them myself. This just does not seem possible, as I’ve never met a mental health worker who wants to help me be me instead of helping me be “normal.” In fact I’ve never even been lucky enough to converse with anybody who values neutral observations over a piece of paper with a clinical diagnosis on it.
It’s mind-numbing. What are you people doing? Is it sincerely in your best interest- whether it’s for mental health reasons, spiritual reasons, religious reasons, or any other reason- to shut up and take an unknown person’s word as law because they have a signed piece of paper from another unknown person stating that they’re qualified to speak on certain matters? I can’t imagine living my life so unabashedly unconcerned with my own intellectual integrity. Nobody ever discovered anything by reciting what someone else told them; everything new comes from finding things yourself.
I can only hope that somebody who reads this can relate, but speaking from experience it seems that it’s far more likely speaking like this will only elicit condescension. Don’t waste your time trying to convince me that what is honest is actually arrogant. I let myself believe that one for too long.

2023.06.01 23:55 wanderingmanderley How do I study for law school?

Got two of my grades back (third one is still MIA even though the deadline for law professors to submit them was yesterday at 4:30 PM lol).
In one class, I literally put my heart and soul into it. I reviewed class notes at the end of every week, went to every office hour, took every practice exam, and then even asked the TAs for extra practice problems and gave them sample answers (they were extremely patient with me).
In the other class, I stopped taking class notes because the professor would just read off his slides or straight from the textbook. I did like 70% of the reading and mostly zoned out during his classes. Five days before his final, I crammed, took one practice exam, then mostly resigned myself to getting a B/B- because I was confident I could do well in the first class.
I think you know where this is going. Somehow, I did better by one half letter grade in the second class than in the first. And I just feel so frustrated and confused. Even though my 1L year is over, I still don't know how to study, why I did better in the second class, or how to get good grades. I think what might have happened was that the first class had a word limit and the second class didn't, so it was just a matter of me word vomiting onto the page and typing faster than the rest of my classmates (many of whom apparently didn't even finish the exam in the first class).
I did take the advice of this sub and start using IRAHNC. I did outlining way sooner and tried to focus less on briefing. I also plan on reviewing my exam with the professor of the first class. But how do I actually meaningfully improve?

2023.06.01 23:53 ThrowRAjdiendbdjd My boyfriend (30m) frequents a "buddhistic center" and I (28f) don't know what to think of it

Apologies in advance if there are mistakes, especially in specific terminology, English is not my first language and my phone autocorrect likes to mess up on me when writing in English.
My boyfriend (30m) and I (28f) have been together 6 months. We were both raised more or less catholic (both not really faithful families, but we both are catholic), he has quit church years back while I've been wanting to do so for years. I'm not spiritual at all, more like a "i believe what I see" kinda person and into psychology. He has turned to buddhism, but in his words not really as a faith to believe in, more like a spiritual guideline of sorts. I'm fine with it, no issue, he doesn't try to force me into it and doesn't pester me with it.
The buddhistic center he goes to seems to be one of many in Germany. It has classes about Buddhism and meditation, but also a shared housing on the premises and apparently a big kitchen and a garden and also a small cafe. He used to live in the shared housing, but moved out due to problems with roommates and the leader of the whole center. He is still very engaged in the center tho - he's paying a member fee (don't know how much, only know that he's reduced it and wants to do less because of the leader) and helping out there quite often. There is a cooking team, which he is part of i think once a month, there is charitable work for the cafe (running the register) and there is gardening help like once or twice a year. He said he should not be there more than twice a month, but i have the impression he always ends up there more often, helping out impromptu. He used to be more involved, and used to do the finances for the whole center, but has dropped this because he's just getting his doctorates and will start working full time afterwards plus he didn't want to give so much after his conflict with the leader of the center.
We have talked about this whole thing multiple time at length, because he has sensed how uncomfortable I was before. I have voiced the concern that it seems like he's giving so much more than getting out of it, but he says the meditation and stuff helps him a lot, and that he enjoys helping out. I've also voiced that only ever hear about him helping out and working there, and almost never him actually going there to meditate and stuff, he said that this happens when he's there working. He also said it's not a cult, that everyone can leave at will, they didn't object to him moving out and everyone can chose if they're a member. My boyfriend is friends with one former member, who quit i think because he didn't agree with how the center is led. Right now, i just want to he supportive and have stopped raising concerns about the center, but they haven't disappeared.
What doesn't help is that this center seems to be a cesspool of people with some kind of severe problems, that are not necessarily in therapy. I'm not judging mental health issues, have my fair share myself and have been in lengthy and intensive therapy. But there seems to be people with addiction, with severe anger issues, with very questionable social behavior or behavior in relationships, with narcissistic or very attention seeking behavior... My boyfriend himself is in serious need of therapy to work through a lot of things in his life, but doesn't want to do it (tho he has said maybe he should lately) and seemingly has used the center as a replacement for it in the past, which obviously did not work because he is very much not over those things. He also has mild anger issues himself, but only to the point that he needs a longer time to cool down, not to the point of ever coming even close to being violent. He acknowledges and knows about those anger issues, and often describes them in buddhistic terms, but the practices he learned don't seem to help him in the moment of anger. Obviously all those people with problems, like himself, have turned towards the center for support, which is good of course. But I'm not sure it's all too healthy when it's replacing therapy and when all of those people come together unregulated. Obviously the center has every right to exist, I'm not against the fact it's there. But I'm concerned what kind of perspective on life my boyfriend might be getting from the group there - they're the biggest part of his social circle. I've met a few of them at a party outside the center, they seemed nice, but my boyfriend seemed to have problems with a few of them and has told me quite a lot of stories overtime. I haven't talked about this aspect of the center to him because I didn't know how to put it and i know he will become defensive of it as he doesn't think highly of therapy at all.
He has asked me once before if i would like to join the center, to which I've said no I'm not interested in joining at all - as I've said I'm not a spiritual person. I've never been there either, don't really know if it's possible without joining. I want to make it clear I'm not at all against his religion or spirituality in Buddhism, even tho it's not my cup of tea, it's just the center that I'm unsure about. And I know that I obviously can't forbid him from going there, I can just speak to him about my concerns otherwise it's my problem.
I guess I'm just looking on some outside perspective on that whole thing. Would you be concerned or does it sound fine? I'm also concerned that when he starts working full-time (plus possibly overtime) it might get too much to help there so much, even tho he says that some workplaces will give him extra time off for charitable work. It's possible it's just some kind of fear of the unknown on my part. How do I deal with it when each time when he talks about going there it's giving me a bit of annoyance and a bit of concern? Doesn't help that the day he always helps there is the Thursday, which is my day off at work besides weekends (working part-time) and which has made meeting on my day off hard or cut it short before.

2023.06.01 23:53 ThatCrippledBastard [TotK] Does every dungeon really need its own plot?

There's a lot of discussion on this sub about the quality and design philosophy of the dungeons in this game, and why they're really undercooked content and don't scratch the Zelda itch, and I largely agree.
There's also a lot of discussion about how the specific dungeon related plots are uninteresting, and largely the same. Down to there being pretty much identical cutscenes at the end of each dungeon.
But why exactly does every dungeon need a plot around it? Does that really make the game better? Does it even really make the older games better? Even if the dungeons were good, does it really bring much to the game having to sit through some dialogue and cutscenes about how the Goron can't find rocks to eat, even though they live on a mountain, or that Yunobo is a dumbass and got everyone addicted to crack? Is that really necessary? Is that really giving you a compelling reason to care about the world and these characters? Is that really giving anyone a reason to want to reach the dungeon? It's not like these plots are even that relevant to the game, let alone the series at large. They just retcon stuff and contradict previous games all the time anyway.
Nintendo are in general not good story tellers. It's not what they do, and they've gotten worse at it over time. And I don't expect their storytelling prowess to improve for the next installment. There's a lot of dialogue in this game, and yet there's no real unifying narrative theme. At least not that I can find. (I haven't beaten the game yet, but I'm not expecting much from the ending tbh) There's probably more throw-away npc dialogue in each town than in the entirety of Link's Awakening, and yet Link's Awakening's plot is more interesting and meaningful to me. I can relate to it.
Aunoma said they've rethought the conventions of Zelda, so why not rethink those conventions as well? I personally don't think yet another story about the Zora having problems because the water is tainted, or too cold or whatever it is will do the game any favors, even if the dungeons are good.
The old 2D games don't have plots around each dungeon. There may be some small scenario you go through prior to the dungeon, but there might not be. There might not even be any indication that you're in a dungeon until you've been inside one for a while. And there doesn't need to be. Like in ALttP, you can enter the lost woods in the dark world, and not know its a dungeon until you fall into a pit and end up inside, and then only later realize the entire forest is the dungeon. There's no mini plot around it. What's compelling you to be there is that it's interesting to go check that place out (and also you need all the dungeon macguffins to go to the final dungeon, but whatever. It's possible you go there without looking at the map and seeing the indicator that you should go there).
The art direction and content of the dungeon itself can also be used to tell a story with hardly any dialogue. And TotK is already doing this to some degree. Except the thing is they're doing it most effectively in the game's mini dungeons, the caves, and not the main scenarion dungeons. For example in the desert there's a cave you can find that is like this labyrinthine underground prison full of gibdos. That's interesting! There's a story behind that! It fleshes out the lore of the Gerudo without using any dialogue! Yes, you don't know the exact story of that location, but there's enough there to get you thinking about the Gerudo culture. And better yet, because it's interesting when you find things like that, it compels you to keep playing the game and keep exploring so you can find more.
In the jungle around the Zonai ruins you can find these little caves that look almost like factories, that are called like "such and such Excavation Site." Great! 3 words that appear on screen for a few seconds without intruding upon the gameplay, and in some small way that's giving you more insight into who the Zonai were and how they lived than much of the game's dialogue.
And I could keep going and giving more examples, but I think this post is long enough. But just imagine this, what if you're exploring the desert, and off in the distance you see these weird ruins leading up into the highlands. Nothing in the entire game looks like these ruins. And then you follow them, not because the game is telling you to, but because it looks interesting. And after following them for a while you find this entrance in the mountainside, this ancient looking door, so you open it and you walk inside. And then without the game showing you a cutscene, or telling you you should care about this because the gerudo are going through the problem of the week, or even taking control away from you, the words "Spirit Temple" appear on screen. How excited would you be if that happened?

2023.06.01 23:52 xeicchi I'm an introvert and want to go out of my comfort zone, any tips how to do that in Manila and nearby provinces?

Hello!
I am an introvert, and lately I have had my self-realizations na I need to go out of my comfort zone.
Sanay na po kasi talaga akong mag-isa, I don't see the point of having friends when I can just rely on myself.
But admittedly, it is stunting my social growth. And I am sure it is not healthy na din for me mentally to push back on people.
My problem is, my energy gets drained quickly. If ako lang mag-isa, I can do a lot of things but I feel na if I have companion, iniisip ko pa lang drained na ako.
Is there any activity in Manila or nearby provinces na I can attend to start growing my social circle? Volunteer programs, tree-planting, etc.
Thank you.

2023.06.01 23:52 SkytechAcademy What are the benefits of ITIL certifications for Individuals?

ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) certifications offer several benefits for individuals working in the IT industry. Here are some of the key advantages:
  1. Enhanced Knowledge and Skills: ITIL certifications provide individuals with a comprehensive understanding of IT service management (ITSM) best practices. They cover a wide range of topics, including service strategy, design, transition, operation, and continual service improvement. This knowledge equips individuals with the skills necessary to effectively manage IT services within organizations.
  2. Career Advancement: ITIL certifications can significantly enhance career prospects. Employers often value ITIL qualifications and consider them as proof of an individual's competence in IT service management. Holding an ITIL certification can help individuals stand out in the job market and increase their chances of securing promotions or better job opportunities.
  3. Common Language and Framework: ITIL provides a standardized set of terminologies and concepts used in IT service management. By obtaining an ITIL certification, individuals gain a common language to communicate with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders. This common framework facilitates smoother collaboration and understanding within organizations.
  4. Improved Efficiency and Productivity: ITIL certifications focus on optimizing IT service delivery and improving operational efficiency. By implementing ITIL practices, individuals can streamline processes, identify bottlenecks, and eliminate unnecessary activities, leading to increased productivity and cost savings.
  5. Customer-Centric Approach: ITIL emphasizes the importance of aligning IT services with the needs and expectations of customers. Individuals with ITIL certifications learn how to prioritise customer satisfaction, manage service levels, and handle customer complaints effectively. This customer-centric approach enhances the overall service experience and builds strong customer relationships.
  6. Problem Resolution and Incident Management: ITIL certifications provide individuals with techniques for effective problem resolution and incident management. These skills are essential for minimizing downtime, resolving issues promptly, and maintaining service availability. 2023.06.01 23:50 TYSONLITTLE Feeling Discouraged

I did a nightmare prep course in 2021 and never made it anywhere and gave up on law school. This may I signed up to 7sage and have been following the syllabus to write in August. Everything has honestly been fine and things are clicking but I absolutely fell off in the sufficient assumption section. I wish there wasn’t a comment section in 7sage becuase everytime I scroll there I feel like I’m so behind. I’m gonna redo the SA lessons tomorrow and hope the problem sets click with me this time. I just wanted some words of encouragement because I feel like I’m the only person who’s having a tough time with these questions.

2023.06.01 23:50 Tortumine Can this be a book cipher ?

I'm not sure this possibility was explored yet, I just wanted to share some thoughts I had.
Book cipher basics:
Wiki:
A book cipher is a cipher in which each word or letter in the plaintext of a message is replaced by some code that locates it in another text, the key.
There are diffrent ways to encode a message: * word, word, word * page, line, word * page, paragraph, word * etc
The first one alows the highest information density but is slower to encode/decode for a human.
The main difficulty is to know what book was used to encode the message.
Theory:
In our case, FF:06:B5 = 255:06:181.
Encoding format:
This could be decoded to 3 words (for www encoding) or 1 word (for other encodings). I suppose it's the first one, just because it's it contains more information.
Book used:
Could be realy any book released prior the game release, in theory. But the game being CD projekt's, I suppose it's a Witcher or a Cyberpunk related book. Like the Cyberpunk RED edition, the game sourcebook, the art booklet or a tome of the Witcher series.
I doubt the key is a shard, just by the immense quantity present in the game. But it's still possible.
For the language, it's probably in English , but could also be in Polish.
Solution ?
If that's the solution, it's a "simple" one (from requirements stand point). No city geometry or audio spectrum analysis, no datamining and no speculations on perks points or circuit board patterns.
There are really 2 difficulties: finding the key and finding the coding format.
The format isn't really a problem as there are only few options (<10).
The key is the real challenge, but I suppose CDPR would chose a book/text that has a significant importance (for the story, the universe or for the studio). It could also be a book mentioned/shown during a stream. That means there is a finite quantity of texts/documents to test. And a large part of it can be automated.
My plan
Maybe the decoded message is an instruction for the next step, maybe the message is just "wasted your time", or maybe this is not the solution to this secret.
Main questions I have before I start:

2023.06.01 23:49 SapiosexualGuy 28 [M4F] india/anywhere - honest detailed bio [relationship]

I'm a hopeless romantic deeply thoughtful guy. i could become your lifelong soulmate , provided you put in a bit of effort to understand me. I want to know you deeply from within. Do you have the courage to talk freely and be open about who you really are ? We all have shortcomings and issues. Acceptance is important.
I'm eventually looking for a serious long term relationship but I understand a lifelong commitment can be hard to promise or expect. So, I don't mind taking things slow, starting from a friendship with some fun chats and affection / intimacy. But i would like to discuss about the practicalities and feasibilities at some point in our conversation , especially if incompatibilities or geographical barriers are involved that can make it hard for us to be with each other. And then, we can gradually develop that emotional connect and liking for each other as we talk but yet not rush into commitment until we are sure of our decision.
People outside India are welcome too. LDR is fine with me ( i can move to your country). Long distance makes the final meet even more romantic as we travel across the world to be with each other. I'd be so happy if you visit me and learn about Indian culture from me.

Some Essential Info About Me

I was into software development and even did some stock trading on the side. Tried developing my own game as a hobby project. I didn't learn much in college. I was a self taught app developer. Self-employed. I'm not quite settled or established yet, but have enough to make ends meet. But eventually, I found I need support in life. It's difficult to work alone without a business partner or a romantic life partner. So I've just lost motivation to work since past few years. Also because of my family environment. My father hasn't been working since a decade, so I never had a role model growing up who could inspire me to be diligent, disciplined and help me find opportunities.
And I've realized lately that my motivation is more towards finding love. It's like a fuel I need in order to continue to perform. So I'm focusing on that first because I know I can't have my heart in my career if my mind is craving for something else. Finding a loving partner is both a need for me and the foremost thing on my bucket list. And finding consistent compatible women who are self aware and clear about what they want has been hard for me. It often ends in a few weeks. Or converts into a platonic friendship. But if I can't find romantic love, then I hope I atleast can find a true platonic unconditional love. And once I do, I will have the energy in me to realize my potential in the career aspect too.
I've never had a relationship, so you'll be my first.
Physical: height is six feet ** , I'm average build , slightly **muscular. Fair skin but not white, more like wheatish. Black hair. Cute. I get mixed responses. Some women like my looks, while some ghost after seeing my pics. ( in case you feel unattracted, just tell me bluntly 😅. I appreciate straightforwardness)

My Personality

I really like being a support and best friend to anyone, even if relationship doesn't work out between us. I believe in honesty, kindness, fidelity, privacy, empathy. I am straightforward in talks, i hate mind games, you don't need to be over-polite . Be blunt and straight with me please.
I think i'm assertive and i openly express how i feel and i want you to do the same. If you keep things bottled in, you'll be at discomfort. I want you to share your feelings & thoughts with me in a direct way and be as comfortable while talking , as if i'm your best friend.
I'm an ambivert because i feel introvert with people i don't really connect with and extrovert otherwise. My MBTI type (can't say if it is still the same) is ENTP.

My Interests and Hobbies

talking to people, listening to their issues and helping out, playing sports, especially those involving teamwork, i really want to collaborate eventually to solve problems the world faces. I am altruistic but self-centred too.

Affection & Intimacy

These are results of my love language test :
40% Acts of Service
20% Quality Time
18% Physical Touch
12% Receiving Materialistic offerings
10% Words of Affirmation
I like to give hugs every few hours. I believe i have a high drive. I am a sapiosexual, means attracted to intelligence. I adore your brain. While I'm not a demisexual, overall, I think it's the emotions and love which makes it all the more fulfilling. I like giving pleasure as much as receiving. I also can adapt to my partner's nature. So, I am dominating if they like me to lead and take control but I can be submissive too.

Who I’m Looking for

A woman anywhere on the Earth (if you can't relocate, i will ) who is preferably around my age (but I'm flexible) , any race. I'm open minded about your views of god, life philosophy. religion etc and you should be tolerant too. I'd prefer though that you follow a middle ground between a religious zealot and a hardcore nihilist. I do believe our existence and life has a purpose. But even if we don't align in our spiritual beliefs now, we may become like-minded as we talk and understand each other. We need to be receptive to new ideas and alternate viewpoints and rational / logical.
I value love and intelligence above everything else, so even if you are depressed, don't have confidence in your beauty, have some mental health issues, are not able to get over a break up, still i'd like to atleast get to know you , be your friend and give it a chance.
I feel people who have faced failures are actually wiser, people who have experienced depression before are mature and those who have suffered loss in the past are more emotionally stronger. I'm looking for a loving heart and beautiful soul. Physical attraction is important , but not the main thing i look for.
I don't smoke, drink, take any drugs, and i'd prefer if you don't as well.If you do, i won't pressurize you to change your lifestyle completely for me but I'd want you to put in an effort to abstain from that. I understand addictions are tough to deal with. But occasional indulgence is fine.
I also don't care about your income. You may be a college dropout , unemployed , that's alright. But i need you to be hard working and diligent.
In this overpopulated world, it doesn't make ethical sense for us to have kids. And a secondary reason is they deserve lot of time, attention and resources which we may not be able to provide with our life situations. I don't want to become the cause of why their upbringing may get messed up. That's why I have a preference towards being childfree.

Communication

I am open towards voice calls too whereas video calls only after some weeks . You don't need to send a pic right away but you can ask for mine after we chat for some hours . I don't abandon people abruptly , i'd let you know if i wish to discontinue talking. I'm also transparent about whoever i'm speaking to. I will never cheat on you , lead you on , keep you as a backup option , etc. You are free to explore your dating options until we become exclusive. I encourage you to talk to other people too.
If two lonely people get together, we can dispel away the loneliness.

Slim Down, Feel Great: Expert Tips for Safe and Effective Weight Loss

1. Introduction

Weight loss is not just about achieving a certain physical appearance; it is primarily about improving your overall health and well-being. Shedding excess pounds can have a profound impact on your cardiovascular health, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, enhance mobility, and boost your energy levels.

2. Understanding Weight Loss

The Importance of Weight Loss

Maintaining a healthy weight is crucial for your overall health. Excess weight puts strain on your organs, increases the risk of developing conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers, and can negatively impact your mental health. Losing weight can significantly reduce these risks, improve your quality of life, and increase longevity.

Health Risks of Being Overweight

Carrying excess weight can lead to various health issues, including high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol levels, insulin resistance, sleep apnea, and joint problems. Additionally, obesity is associated with an increased risk of mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety. By shedding pounds, you can mitigate these risks and improve your overall well-being.

3. Setting Realistic Goals

Assessing Your Current Weight and Health

Before embarking on a weight loss journey, it is essential to assess your current weight and health status. Consult with a healthcare professional to determine your body mass index (BMI), which will help identify whether you fall within a healthy weight range or if you are overweight or obese.

Determining a Healthy Weight

Once you have evaluated your current weight, work with your healthcare provider to determine a healthy weight range for your body type, height, and age. This range will serve as a guideline for your weight loss goals, ensuring that you aim for a realistic and achievable target.

Establishing Achievable Goals

Break down your weight loss journey into smaller, attainable goals. Rather than focusing on losing a large amount of weight in a short period, aim for gradual and steady progress. Set weekly or monthly goals that are realistic and sustainable. This approach will help you stay motivated and prevent feelings of discouragement.

4. Healthy Eating Habits

Balancing Macronutrients

A balanced diet is essential for successful weight loss. Focus on incorporating all three macronutrients: carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats. Carbohydrates provide energy, while protein supports muscle growth and repair. Healthy fats, such as those found in avocados and nuts, help with satiety and nutrient absorption. Aim for a well-rounded diet that includes a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.

Portion Control

Portion control plays a vital role in weight management. Be mindful of the quantity of food you consume and avoid oversized portions. Use smaller plates, bowls, and utensils to trick your mind into thinking you are eating more. Chew slowly and savor each bite, allowing your body to recognize feelings of fullness.

Incorporating Whole Foods

Processed foods are often high in calories, unhealthy fats, and added sugars. Opt for whole, unprocessed foods whenever possible. These include fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole grains, and legumes. Whole foods are nutrient-dense and provide essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber that support your overall health and weight loss efforts.

Hydration Importance

Proper hydration is often overlooked but plays a crucial role in weight loss. Drinking an adequate amount of water helps maintain bodily functions, supports digestion, and can even help control appetite. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water per day, and consider replacing sugary beverages with water to reduce calorie intake.

5. Regular Physical Activity

Types of Exercise for Weight Loss

Incorporating regular physical activity into your routine is essential for burning calories, increasing metabolism, and improving overall fitness. Engage in a combination of cardiovascular exercises, such as running, swimming, or cycling, and strength training exercises, such as weightlifting or bodyweight exercises. Cardiovascular exercises help burn calories, while strength training builds lean muscle mass, which can boost your metabolism.

Finding Activities You Enjoy

To sustain long-term exercise habits, it is important to find activities that you enjoy. Experiment with different forms of exercise to discover what works best for you. It could be dancing, hiking, playing a sport, or joining group fitness classes. When you enjoy the activity, it becomes easier to stay consistent and motivated.

Creating a Workout Routine

Developing a structured workout routine will help you stay on track with your weight loss goals. Schedule specific times for exercise and treat them as non-negotiable appointments. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity per week, along with two or more days of strength training exercises targeting all major muscle groups.

6. Managing Stress and Emotional Eating

Identifying Triggers

Stress and emotions can often lead to unhealthy eating habits. It is important to identify the triggers that cause you to turn to food for comfort or as a coping mechanism. Keep a journal to track your emotions and the circumstances surrounding your eating episodes. This awareness can help you develop healthier ways to manage stress and prevent emotional eating.

Adopting Stress-Relief Techniques

Finding effective stress-relief techniques can help reduce the likelihood of emotional eating. Engage in activities such as meditation, yoga, deep breathing exercises, or engaging hobbies to relax and unwind. These techniques can help alleviate stress and prevent it from negatively impacting your eating habits.

Seeking Support

Don't hesitate to seek support from friends, family, or professionals. Join support groups or enlist the help of a therapist or counselor who specializes in emotional eating. Having a support system in place can provide encouragement, accountability, and guidance throughout your weight loss journey.

7. Quality Sleep and Weight Loss

The Connection between Sleep and Weight

Getting enough quality sleep is often overlooked but is crucial for successful weight loss. Poor sleep can disrupt hormonal balance, leading to increased hunger and cravings, decreased metabolism, and reduced energy levels. Aim for 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night to support your weight loss efforts.

Tips for Better Sleep

Establish a consistent sleep schedule by going to bed and waking up at the same time each day. Create a relaxing bedtime routine to signal your body that it's time to unwind. Keep your sleep environment comfortable, dark, and quiet. Avoid caffeine, electronic devices, and stimulating activities before bed. By prioritizing sleep, you can optimize your weight loss journey.

8. Monitoring Progress and Making Adjustments

Tracking Your Food Intake and Exercise

Keeping track of your food intake and exercise is essential for monitoring progress and making adjustments along the way. Use a food diary or a mobile app to record what you eat, portion sizes, and your physical activity. This information can help you identify patterns, make informed decisions, and stay accountable to your goals.

Recognizing Plateaus and Adjusting Strategies

Weight loss progress may plateau at times, which can be frustrating. It's important to understand that this is a normal part of the process. When you hit a plateau, reassess your eating habits and exercise routine. Consider making changes, such as increasing the intensity or duration of your workouts, trying new exercises, or modifying your calorie intake. Small adjustments can reignite progress and keep you motivated.

9. Conclusion

Embarking on a weight loss journey requires commitment, patience, and a holistic approach. By setting realistic goals, adopting healthy eating habits, engaging in regular physical activity, managing stress, prioritizing sleep, and monitoring your progress, you can achieve safe and effective weight loss. Remember that sustainable weight loss takes time, and focusing on overall well-being is key. Stay motivated, be kind to yourself, and celebrate every milestone along the way.

10. FAQs

Is it possible to lose weight without exercise?

While exercise is beneficial for weight loss, it is possible to lose weight through dietary changes alone. However, incorporating regular physical activity enhances weight loss, improves overall fitness, and has numerous health benefits.

How much weight can I expect to lose per week?

Weight loss varies from person to person and depends on various factors such as current weight, metabolism, and adherence to a healthy lifestyle. A safe and sustainable rate of weight loss is around 1-2 pounds per week.

Are fad diets effective for weight loss?

Fad diets often promise quick results, but they are not sustainable or beneficial for long-term weight loss. Instead, focus on adopting a balanced, nutritious eating plan that you can maintain for the long run.

Can weight loss supplements help in the process?

Weight loss supplements are not a magic solution for weight loss. While some may offer temporary benefits, the most effective approach is a combination of a healthy diet, regular exercise, and lifestyle changes.

Is it okay to indulge in occasional treats while trying to lose weight?

Allowing yourself occasional treats in moderation is perfectly fine. It's important to maintain a healthy relationship with food and avoid feelings of deprivation. Enjoying a small treat occasionally can help prevent cravings and promote sustainability.

2023.06.01 23:46 Alarming-Simple-life My wife cheated. We got divorced. Now, I basically own her.

All this started almost 9 years ago. One of my friends told me that he and his wife saw her getting into an hotel with another man (his wife tried to convince him to not say anything, because "it was not their business" and got angry when he told me, but he said he couldn't keep being my friend keeping in secret something like that).
I made my moves, hired someone to follow her, and got all the evidence I needed, she was cheating on me. I had all the evidence I needed, even her social media, everything. Only after having everything on my favor, I confronted her.
I told her that I knew everything. She denied it, of course. I show her captures from her chats and texts. She kept saying those werent hers. I showed her lots of stuff, and she denied everything to the point it was ridiculous, all while she claimed that I was an awfull husband for thinking she would do that and not trusting her. I showed her photos of she getting in and out an hotel, and kissing that man, and she started to cry.
She started to say all the classic shit a cheater would say when they're caugth. "Is not like that" "is not my fault" "you dont understand" "it was your fault" "I was lonely" "I never loved him" "you're never at home".
I told her to stop. I didnt wanted to listen to her, she was a liar, a cheater, and I didnt trust her. I told her I wanted her out of my house, that I already talked to a lawyer and we were getting divorced. Then, her tears and begging dissapeared and she started to get mad, saying I had no rigth to do that, asking why Im not figthing to get her back, that she would not accept it, and threated me to take my kids and the house if I wanted the divorce. "Courts are always on women side" she said. I told her that she better start looking for another place.
The following days were hard. She was disgusted for being caugth, and mad because I werent trying to save our marriage. Me, on the other side, told her daily that she must leave, that our marriage was over. That only made her beheavior worst. But the day I completely lost it, was when I heared my daughter crying. I got in that room, to find her on the floor crying, covering half of her face with her hands, and her mother standing next to her, screaming at her that "she was no one to judge or question her" and "I'm your mother, I'm always rigth".
My daughter heard us, and asked her why I wanted the divorce, and she blew up against her and slapped on her face. A full force slap to an 9 years old girl. I lost it. I dont know how furious I must been, or how I looked, but my wife stopped her tantrum, and started to be afraid of me.
I told her that she must leave that nigth, if I came back and she was still there, there would be consecuences. I took my daughter and my son to my parent's house. I took her to the hospital and took photos of her face.
Next day, she was still there, asking me to talk, to be reasonable. I left. I wanted revenge, I wanted blood, I wanted to hurt her way worse the way she hurted my girl. I started by sending all the evidence of the affair to the wife of the other guy. He was a guy with a lot to lost, and that not only gave him a lot of problems, it made it lost friendships and contacts, and started the gossip about them. That afternoon my wife called me, hysterical, asking me "How could I do that" that "I had no rigth to expose them". I told her that it was just the begining, that I had enough of her. I wanted her out of my life, or this would go worst.
The good thing about being married, is that you know all the secrets of your partner, and I used every single one of them to take her down. I kept the house and the kids (hurting or daughter made her look dangerous to be in charge of the kids). After it was over, she moved with her mother. Then I send everything I had to her family.
She was raised by a single mom. Her dad cheated on her mom and abandoned them, so, it's a very delicate subject on the family, and knowing that she was just like him, made her situation worst. Her mother kicked her out of her house, and the brother only let her stay on his place a couple weeks, because "he was disgusted of her". She tried to get help from the guy, but he was on a worst situation that her, so he threw her away like trash.
She ended up moving to a little appartment, started to work to pay the bills, and slowly started to be miserable. Her friends stopped talking her, her family didnt wanted to see her, our children resented her. And thats only the second year of all this.
She tried to date again, just to find guys who used her and left, or took advantage of her. For what I knew, she slowly descended on depresion, and her old food issues returned.
She believed she touched bottom after the third year, so, she joined a church. One of those "rebirth christians" who promised her that all her faults and mistakes would be forgiven and forgotten after she was born again inside their faith. That ended up being another mistake. She found out very late that she was surrounded by some of the most toxic people, who as soon as they knew about her past, started to talk bad and spread rumors about her, took advantage and humilliate her.
She had nothing.
5 years after everything started, she came back, basically begging on her knees to forgive her. She cried how sorry she was, how much she regreted everything, that she had nothing, no family, no friends, nothing, she doesnt remembered being happy since the divorce, and how much she missed me, our family, our marriage, how happy she was with me, with us. She promised me that she would do anything, that she would obey me blindly, she wanted her life back, our family, our kids, and she would do anything to fix the worst mistake she ever done.
I'm aware I'm not a good person. I still resented her, so, I asked to prove it. How I could know she was being honest? She told me she had nothing to offer, except for her obedience, heart and body. I took her to the room and had sex with her. She not only never said no on any moment, her face reflected genuine happiness, and she ended up crying out of happiness after we finished, promising me she would do anything for me, that she would dedícate her life to be the perfect wife.
The following days, I set the rules, and made her sign a contract. She accepted everything. She was serious about doing anything.
To the outside people, we are a couple that, after lots of issues, found the way to have another chance. They look at us and see a lovely couple. She managed to slowly rebuilt her relationship with our children. But the reality, is that she basically became my slave.
Dont get me wrong. I'm not physical abusive, or have her locked, or isolated. We go to events, dinners, movies, vacations, she now have the life she used to have before all this. But she have nothing, and I make sure she never forget that. Nothing is at her name, she doesnt have job or any money, and she agreed on not trying to find a job and dedicate only to the home and the kids.
Her phone doesnt have password, and I have acces to all her social media in any moment, and she always have to show me where she is and what is she doing, on any moment I ask. She doesnt have voice on the important desicions, she cant complaint. And she accept it, because she knows she has nothing else.
Sometimes she asks me to marry again, she wants to be my wife again, but she signed that we would only do that, after our younger son is 25. When she ask me, if all of this is still necessary, I always tell her the same answer, "Yes, bacause I DONT TRUST YOU". Those words are enough to take her down. I've made sure she understands, that even though we live together, and I'm giving her this chance, we're not together. I'm still single, and if I want it, I can start dating on any moment I want. I've even brought women into the house a couple times, to test her limits. She has no choice but to shut up and accept it.
Even so, the moment I touch her, the moment I kiss her, she gives herself completely to me, desperate to feel me close, to feel I love her.
I'm not a good person. I'm sure of that, because I dont regret anything I've been doing. Its been almost 4 yearsvhaving her like this. For a revenge, it should have be over long ago, but I like to own her this way. I learned to enjoy having all this power over her, and she is honestly happy living like this. I cant hate her anymore, but I dont love her, and I'm not sure if I can.
My daughter is now 18, and my son 15, so, I still have 10 years to learn to love her again before marry her. But, if I found after all that time that I cant, I maybe just throw her again, say to the outside people that it just didnt worked, live my life on my own while she try to figure out what she would do. Meanwhile, I will enjoy how she works hard to be "the perfect wife and mother" she still want to be.

2023.06.01 23:44 Gentoss Subtitles, some phrases are Missing

Hi,
I try to encode a video file from h264/mkv to av1/mkv.
Everything works fine, except the subtitles...

So, what is my Problem?
I try to encode a video file with PGS (.sup) subtitles.
The problem is, that about 1/3 of the phrases in the subtitle are missing.
With other words, the original file has 304 subtitle phrases, the encoded file has only 201 subtitle-phrases.

Where is the problem/how can I fix this?

here is the log:

2023.06.01 23:42 wineraq Best tips & tricks

Still very new to the divorce process, nothing has been filed yet, but wife is all about it. I am not wanting it, but nobody cares. As I naively fight it, I still want to hedge my bets.
For me personally, I make 3x the salary as her in the military, we have two kids, two properties since married (one is an out of state rental), and are in AZ. I am debt free, she has about $50k in student loans. I supported her through her Masters, she only started working about 9 months ago. Marriage is just under 5 years.
Please comment on or add to the list:- Do NOT move out of our house, it can be seen as abandonment
- I took all my wine bottles and put it in a box in the garage, it's time to be sober. There's never been a problem, but I want to ensure nothing gets twisted.
- Do everything I can to get two signatures on a legal separation form.
- get the best lawyer first. an extra $10k now will pay off dividends over time.
- hit the gym and meditate. immediately be the guy I probably should have been a year ago.
- anything in email/text should be nothing but kindness and logical caring, and nothing committing anything. the words WILL be read by lawyers
- should i let her file first (although I've already been talking to lawyers) simply because the first costs more money?
Anything else?

2023.06.01 23:41 33thealchemist33 I hope this helps…

I hope this helps…
I’m not sure how to start this off, bare with me as I try my best;
I am not sure if you remember me saying this- but I once told you “I don’t think I could ever be mad at you” I meant(mean) that. At the time I said it I didn’t really understand why , it just came out , it felt natural and sincere.
As I’m deep into my healing journey - I am learning why saying that felt so natural to me. I would like to let my guard down and be vulnerable with you right now. Please treat my heart gently as I lay this all out for you. I know this separation has not been easy for me; not sure how it’s effecting you. I don’t ask how you’re doing that much these days… your answers have always been short - despite me knowing there is deeper meaning behind them. I don’t know if I will ever learn why; if you will ever let your guard down for me. If you decide not too… I want you to understand that I understand why. I don’t hold it against you and I still- and will always love you unconditionally. I hope you feel the truth in my words. But as you know by now- we are the same. I often tell you I’m doing great. Which is very much true. I’m healing. I’m learning my worth. I’m setting boundaries and sticking to them. I want you to know; I am doing this for me. I deserve to heal. However , I am also doing it for you. I know that healing myself is also healing you; we both deserve that. Despite your thoughts telling you otherwise. Please don’t take offense to me detaching to do this. We both know it has to be done. I would be lying if I said that the memories we have shared - and the emotions attached to the memories; they are still with me. Often times hitting me like an arrow to the chest. They take my breath away, setting fire to my chest, it gives me peace and keeps me going. It is what is fueling me to keep going forward no matter what. I also want you to understand; all the positive and wonderful thoughts and the way you perceive me… that is who you truly are as well. I’ve always known you in that light- I see your true self even though you may not be certain of who you are; you must always remember - we are the same soul. I knew the moment my eyes met yours. It’s a dream I’m been having since before I met you in the 3D. Then I saw you for the first time and thought “here we go” I played it off as a mere physical attraction- because trying to explain this to anyone would have me taking a grippy sock vacation. Lol Regardless of what happens in this lifetime. I beg of you to understand; I love you unconditionally- and will continue holding space for you. NO MATTER WHAT.❣️
⭐️ My wishes:⭐️ -To be your last -Your person you run to with any good or bad thought, problem, experience. -to be your warm blanket when your cold; and your cool breeze when you’re hot. (Which you’ve always been hot to me) ;) - I want to sing with you in the car and hold your hand. -I want to cook for and with you - I want to protect you from anything or anyone that ever comes close to causing you pain or sadness. - I want to wipe away your tears when you’re sad ; and your boogers when you’re sick. - I want to be your best friend an greatest lover - I want to kiss every inch of your body. I want to make you reach climax so hard your entire body trembles and you can’t walk and then I want to do it again and again until you can no longer handle it. When I’m finally feeling you’ve been satisfied enough… I will bring you cold water and a snack. Then I will hold you and caress your hair till you sleep peacefully. - I want to be your forever; I will never grow tired of you, I will never cheat on you, I will never leave your side. I will never make you feel alone or unworthy of anything less than the perfect love I have for you… and I will remind you and reassure you of this as many times as it takes to rid you of past hurts. - I want you and only you; in this life and the next. -I want our kids and the world to see what true love looks like.
You are my person. Please don’t ever forget this. Please don’t let the bad days/ thoughts win. I love you. I miss you. I’ll see you later 😉 🩵🩷🔐
