I’ve been a pharmacy tech at Walgreens for over a year now and I can’t take it anymore. We have no staff, and the staff we do have refuse to do evening/closing shifts. So everyone gets to leave by 4,5, & 6 while me and MAYBE one other tech + a pharmacist deal with the rest of the day. We always have floater pharmacists that never know what they’re doing and they’re often the closers for us. Oh and we’re also expected to have all the phone calls done, trash and dpi taken out and the store to be picked up before we leave. It’s nearly impossible.. and we’re a high volume store so we’re ALWAYS busy no matter what. We have both lanes in drive thru always full and a line going into the aisles all evening. It’s so stressful and don’t even get me started on all the bs cenfil is putting us through right now. The customers just get more rude and irate everyday and I have never gone a whole shift without being verbally abused. I feel like I’m at my breaking point and putting in a two weeks notice right now sounds like a dream. I’d just feel guilty for making staffing even worse but I’m not sure I can hang on to this unappreciative job. I’ve had to be put on anti-depressants/anxiety meds just to be able to clock in and be able to deal with what I’m about to be faced with. I feel so defeated.

I'm 25 years old and I don't have a college degree. I have mental health issues that make it hard to work with a boss right over my head or dealing with the general public. I'd love a position that is lower stress like stocking shelves however I have chronic pain issues which don't allow me to do heavy lifting or alot of time on my feet.
I've looked into CDL for trucking which offer contract you sign that if you complete trucking school they pay it for you if you agree to work for them for 1 year afterwards. But I'd have to reapply for my lisence after willingly giving it up because last year I didn't have the $25 to transfer my regular drivers lisence from one state to another and I needed to prove residency for food pantry help.
I've also heard walgreens has a program that if you've worked for them before you can apply for a pharmacy tech in training position that's learning on the job. So, I'd have to get a job at walgreens first since I have no pharmacy expirence.
I know tattoo artists sometimes take apprentices but even though im creative I've never been able to draw so I'm not sure that would be the way to go.
I've heard there's other trades like electricians, HVAC repair, etc.

2023.06.02 21:32 Lil_CumDumpster After four years of not landing an offer and losing hope, I finally landed a paid internship right after graduation, this is a sign you guys should not lose hope, especially to those that are struggling! I killed the competition!
Lets goooo guys, I just landed a paid internship at Walgreens, I got the position "Customer Service Associate - Temporary", my manager told me that depending on my performance, I might land a full time offer. I am so excited and grateful that I was to beat the odds as a Pace University student.
I had such good qualifications that even my interviewer noted that I was "over qualified for the job", and also told me "the other people applying to this position does not even have a high school degree".
But Thank You Pace University for all the help for me to land this position, I truly cannot do it without your help!

I've been applying to Walgreens since mid April or so and I've had no luck being called for at least ab interview. I have 2+ years experience as a pharmacy tech (California license but NO PTCB) and 1+ year of being a shift supervisor (both of my experience comes from having worked at a previous pharmacy retail chain asides from Walgreens). I sent in/attached my license for the pharm tech positions bc they ask for that during the online application process. I'm a 20 almost 21 yr female, and I've been in the workforce since I was 17/18, so hopefully it's not an experience thing. Does anyone know why I'm getting flat out rejected or any possibilities? Sometimes, it's only a few hours to a few days and I get an email saying "thank you for your consideration, we've decided to move forward with other candidates etc." Am I red flag in their HR system or something by now? Maybe there's a hiring freeze idk about ? :( I've done 2 of those assessments required for being a shift lead where they ask you questions about yourself and you answer on a scale from Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree. Obviously I didn't choose Strongly Agree for all, that's just sketchy, but I did not put answers that would outright make me a bad candidate for the job. I do enjoy working in a team etc., all that jazz. I went to several stores in person to express my interest in a position; many managers/pharmacists spoke to me kindy but I never heard back from any. I really need a job since my last company laid off all employees and I have to pay for my expenses and school. I hope it's not a flexibility issue since I can only really close in the pharmacy or front store bc I have school 8am-12pm Mon-Fri. Weekends I'm available whenever. If someone could guide me as to what I'm doing wrong to be rejected so quick, I'd really appreciate it. I'm running out of options and time as to where and when I need to start work. I'm happy to DM someone my resume to see if it's a resume issue. (I've also submitted cover letters to try to stand out in online applications asides from submitting resume). 2023.06.02 02:33 combrosure PA said I won’t have a hard time finding my meds
I switched to concerta ER after I couldn’t get adderall anywhere. Now it’s backordered and the PA for my doctor says to call around or get a written script. I’ve tried calling but no one will tell me if they have it (which I get) and I’ve been to Kroger, Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, giant Eagle you name it with a written script and everyone’s backordered. The PA said I wouldn’t have as hard of a time finding it as I did with adderall. I finally started school after 6 years and might be starting a new job and I’m so stressed. I don’t know how to manage or get through. I don’t know what to do.
ETA: does anyone have any advice? How I can cope with these changes now being unmedicated? I’m terrified.

I'm at my day job and 2 get notifications of orders from a PM. By far my favorite PM, always small orders no more than 20 items usually and always tips $10 no matter what. He had a Kroger order 8 items, and a Walgreens order with 3 item's right around the corner. I was like damn he never orders this early usually.
I was like I'll let somebody else get it, but then I thought man this is easy money. And I'm going to Vegas next week, every little bit helps. I snag both orders, sneak out of work. (And stayed on the clock) Get there and knock em both out smoothly. And he tipped $10 separately for both orders. Made it back to work and took a lunch break.😂I know it's not insane money but it was too easy to pass up.

TL/DR: I am looking to secure a work-from-home programmer part-time after being a pharmacist and substitute teacher. I have completed a certificate in programming and database management from Parkland College (including Web Dev, Database dev, C/C++, Python, and PHP / SQL) but have not applied nor worked in software development.

I am currently unemployed and have had a bit of a rocky history since 2019. Prior to 2019 I was a pharmacist for 12 years and worked at only 3 companies. I took some time off then I worked as a substitute teacher (2020-2022) and a very short stint in retail pharmacy (Nov 2022-May 2023).
I was on short-term disability from Feb 2023-May 1st 2023). I was supposed to start with Walgreens part-time but have had to push it back as a result of a back injury. I have an MRI scheduled tomorrow and am looking at either a steroid spinal injection or outpatient surgery for a herniated disk. My back should be better soon and so not an issue.
Financially I need to return to work. I really do not want to start with Walgreens and would really like to get something where I can work from home part-time (or full-time if a good fit) working as a programmer.
I have a certificate in general programming and database management from the local college. I am very familiar with programming theory (algorithms, data structures, loops, functions, etc.). I’ve been with my partner for 3 years now. As always things started off great she has a daughter that I’ve grown to love as my own even though her bio dad is still in the picture. I dropped everything for them, I got a bigger apartment, I switched jobs to make more money I changed everything to give them the peace of mind they deserve, it was all better than I could have ever imagined until this weekend, that’s when I found out she’s been cheating me with her sister’s roommate. She didn’t have a great relationship with her sister when we first met and I encouraged her to rekindle it because I knew it bothered her. Her sister is a free spirit, rarely holds down a job, drinks and does absurd amounts of coke and x just to pass the time. She lives with 4 guys who her and my partner have known since middle school, they seemed cool enough the few times I’ve hung out with them so whenever she wanted to go hangout with her sister I wouldn’t bat an eye. I found out during our camping trip for Memorial Day weekend, when she was in the bathroom with her daughter I grabbed her phone to look at some of the videos she had been taking but admittedly curiosity got the better of me and I went through her messages and that’s when I saw her texts to the roommate. I felt almost paralyzed, it almost felt like I was going to blackout but I somehow managed to gather myself and chill out I took some screenshots of the texts to have as proof and put her phone back in her bag. I didn’t say anything to her we only had a few hours left before we came home and I wanted to spend those hours with her daughter. The past few days I’ve been thinking of what to do and the best solution I can think of is just packing my stuff up and ghosting her, I am quitting my job tomorrow morning and after she’s left for work I’ll grab my stuff and leave her with a print out of the messages I read. I’m still in a daze. My whole life is gone now, the future I saw for us is nothing and I’m not sure how to process all of this still. I’m calling my brother a few states away to see if I can stay with him and set up shop elsewhere. Tonight though I have to lay down next her and I’m not sure I won’t break down knowing what’s coming.
Update: First I want to thank everyone for their kind words and advice. I am doing the best I can right now. I am meeting with my boss in a hour or so to wrap that up. I am also taking the advice of talking to her babies dad about me leaving, we have always had a good relationship and I want to give him a heads up on what’s coming. As far as the apartment goes we only have 3 more moths on the lease and I am planning on paying for the remaining months mainly so her daughter has somewhere to stay for the time being. I made sure she knows that I love her and always will, holding her this morning knowing it was the last time I would ever see her was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done and it took everything inside of me to not sob while doing that. I’ll update later once I have all my stuff and am away from the city. Thank you guys you have no idea how comforting it is to have your kind words to come back to.
Update 2: I know I said I would update when it was all over but you guys are right I should have a talk with her daughter before I go so when her bio dad picks her up from day care I will be meeting them and talking to her in person before I go. It means a lot that he is letting me do this and hopefully it’s just enough closure for her.
Update 3: I met up with bio dad and the little one. You guys were right I really needed to have that conversation with her to let her know that even if I’m not there that I’ll always love her and that it isn’t her fault that I am leaving. I did cry. I cried a lot actually. I know I’ll eventually fade from her memory and just become someone she has vague memories with but I’ll remember her until my last breath, I never knew I wanted kids until she came into my life and showed me what true and pure love is. I thanked her dad for letting me have that moment with her, I gave him that Disneyland picture in case she ever asks about me. He is aware of what went down and who my ex is spending her time with. As for my ex I left the screenshots on the kitchen table along with my key to the apartment. I’ve blocked her number and my family did the same, I also blocked any mutual friends numbers in case she tries to reach me through them. It’s crazy that I’m leaving behind the last 5 years of my life but I honestly can’t stay here. My brother is taking me in out in LA until I figure out what my next move is. I am off all social media and once I get to my brothers I’ll change my number. I’m sorry if this update is anti climatic but that’s how I wanted all this to go down. I’ll update you guys when I am all settled down. I do just want to say that I loved them with every ounce of my being. I’ll miss the walks around the apartment complex, the random trips to Walgreens, watching Sofia the first until I memorized the episodes by heart, especially coming home from work and feeling like I mattered, feeling like I had a purpose and that no matter what went on during my day that all of that wouldn’t matter once I opened that door. I’ll miss all of it but I know deep down I have to let go. Be safe everyone I’ll try and update this soon.
Update 4: I want to thank you guys for all the support and even the few negative comments that I got on this, it’s nice knowing I wasn’t completely alone through the early parts of this whole situation. On the drive here I had to finally pull over and let it all out, I’m sure right now we would be having dinner or watching a movie and instead I’m on my brothers porch trying to not cry while I type this out. I haven’t heard anything from the ex yet which is helping but knowing her she’ll try and find a way to reach me. Everything reminds me of them, I saw a little mermaid poster earlier and almost lost it, I never got to take the little one to see it and that just kills me. I do wonder though what I was missing or where I came up short for this to happen? I’ve run circles around it and I can’t explain it. I hope I heal fast from this because I’ve got a whole life to live. I hope I did enough for the little one to not have been hurt by all this, I hope she keeps a sliver of me in her memory and I hope she is loved like I loved her. First post ever on reddit so please bear with me. Today, 5/31/23, I (23F) worked my 9am-5pm shift at my local Walgreens. For context, I have an autoimmune disease that affects my GI system, and I was just recently hired this month at Walgreens. I’m a brand new, freshly registered Pharmacy Technician (not certified yet). I have only had a couple of shifts in the back and unfortunately mostly self taught (thrown to the wolves) when I was recently hospitalized for 6 days. All is good now and I feel a lot better! Today was my first day back and it did not go as expected. I show up at 9 am, ready for the day and it was a shit storm from the time I clocked in, until I left. The phone never stopped ringing, people constantly in the drive thru and a long line in the store, ALL DAY. We fully staffed, two filling, two pharmacist, one on drive thru and two new people working the front registers, myself and a DH. She has only been working in the pharmacy for about a month as well. I’ve had plenty of concern regarding my training, my lead manager (LM) hasn’t really taught me anything and makes it really hard to ask for help as she’s defensive and abrasive. She talks down me and like i’m stupid. DH even thinks she may even be a bit racist, but who i am to say. At one point in the day, LM is filling and asks the pharmacist that hasn’t left for the day (PT) to train me on calls since we were behind, news flash, we were again so busy that I didn’t learn them. After finishing up with a patient at the counter, I pick on the holding call and it’s an inventory call from a physician. They ask for a medicine and specific strength. Of course, I go to PT and ask for the specific drug and strength, mind you, she is on the phone but not actively talking. She then YELLS at me to not talk to her while she’s on the phone, then says that’s frustrated, and to leave her alone. I turn and walk away back to the computer and she’s asks me if i know how to F10, which is a drug search. I’m honestly in shock and just nodded yes. LM even chirps,”yes she does, right OP?” I nodded again and finished the call. Finished my shift and left. Now i’m home and honestly and dumbfounded at the way she spoke to me. A grown ass women YELLED at work, who does that? What do I do? I don’t feel comfortable talking to LM, and I honestly need this job, I need the money bad. Do I call HR? The store manager? They didn’t teach me anything in on boarding about a situation like this?

I answer the phone and it's someone asking for the store manager by name. I say he's already gone for the day. Then she says she got a call from Walgreens. I ask her a couple of questions to see if someone else here can help but she didn't seem to know why she'd get a call from us. If she didn't ask for the store manager I'd say it was pharmacy. Hopefully she didn't apply for a job. 🙄

I want to thank my delivery driver today. I don't order much on DD, but needed something from walgreens. I didnt need it THIS MINUTE, (never order from walgreens if you need it now, IMO). I did not leave a pretip, because my last couple of drivers couldn't follow the simple instructions of "hand it to me". And personally, as a dasher, I rarely will accept a walgreens order because they tend to be a PITA.
Anyway, despite it not having a tip, it was accepted right away, which surprised me. Walgreens was out of 4 of the 5 items i ordered, so she called for a substitution. Fortunatley the item that i really needed and could not be substituted was in stock. The lady was polite and professional in her job.
She delivered my order promptly as well and was again professional. She never inquired (rather begged) for a tip, as you see many posts about. And yes I did tip her about 55 percent of the total.
Adding: I posted this same basic thing in the doordash_driver sub, and the hate over there is unreal. Some can't even accept that a customer is trying to praise them and be thankful.

2023.05.31 19:31 Fxguy1 Finding an Entry Level Work From home programming / development job?
TL/DR: I am looking to secure a work-from-home programmer part-time after being a pharmacist and substitute teacher. I have completed a certificate in programming and database management from Parkland College (including Web Dev, Database dev, C/C++, Python, and PHP / SQL) but have not applied nor worked in software development. Long Story I am currently unemployed and have had a bit of a rocky history since 2019. Prior to 2019 I was a pharmacist for 12 years and worked at only 3 companies. I took some time off then I worked as a substitute teacher (2020-2022) and a very short stint in retail pharmacy (Nov 2022-May 2023). I was on short-term disability from Feb 2023-May 1st 2023). I was supposed to start with Walgreens part-time but have had to push it back as a result of a back injury. I have an MRI scheduled tomorrow and am looking at either a steroid spinal injection or outpatient surgery for a herniated disk. My back should be better soon and so not an issue. Financially I need to return to work. I really do not want to start with Walgreens and would really like to get something where I can work from home part-time (or full-time if a good fit) working as a programmer. I have a certificate in general programming and database management from the local college. I am very familiar with programming theory (algorithms, data structures, loops, functions, etc.). I have a working knowledge/passing ability with Java, Python, and C++. I have built front-end websites (so working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and XHTML) and backend (PHP, SQL). Since I haven't worked with programming daily I would need to brush up on whatever language is needed or used for the position. I am a fast learner and will pick things up quickly. So what are some things I can do to get that elusive first/entry-level job?
