2023.05.30 23:53 Bearwbootz Is it normal to not get paid in a DIY hardcore band & have all the money the band makes put into savings for merch?
The treasurer for my band is the lead singer (I’m the guitarist). The lead singer puts all of the money we make from shows into a single cash-app account that’s only used for savings, we barely ever use it. Or the money goes inside of a money pouch. I recently asked if I could get paid from shows we do. We got paid $200 from the last show we did. We are a 5 piece, and I only asked to get paid 20%, since 1 out of 5 is 20%. That would be $40. I asked in our group chat and got no response. Last time I called our lead singer he sounded confused and hesitantly said “sure I guess”. But obviously he wanted to say no, and I still haven’t gotten paid. He believes that we should put every dollar we make as a band into savings and re invest it into merch. I believe we should save a portion of the money for savings, and every one in the band should get paid from shows. He believes everyone should take a small amount of money they make from their 9-5 work and put it into the band fund. I think the music we do should pay us. I understand that there are unspoken rules in hardcore/diy culture. Is not getting directly paid for shows/re investing money into merch one of the unspoken rules, or should I be getting paid?

- Track and backlog your production processes. It will be easier to reinstall your workshop with list of materials and tools
- Try to replace local materials and chemicals by something from your local retailers' nets, don’t order everything online
- Your favourite tools worth to be moved to new place
- Scrutinize your new country’s custom rules and postal tariffs before the transfer (extremely important for EU countries)
- {Obvious} Strong social media presence and own site / Shopify will be helpful. Short videos drive traffic, but it feels like in my case it’s not converting to sales
- Check opportunities / handmade fairs / support for self-employed persons in new country
- Find new inspiration in local art and nature
- Etsy is huge transnational corporation with own risk / profit system. Keep this in mind and don’t wait too much from support
- Inflation affected shipping costs more than basic materials

I only cared about telltale for Minecraft story mode seasons 1 and 2 and The walking dead, minecraft story mode played such a huge part in my childhood and I loved those games and the walking dead seasons 1-4 were amazing as well and I had so much fun playing them but now both of those games are dead. The Minecraft story mode community and Fandom is gone and they moved on and The entirety of the walking dead game subreddit is full of posts that are 1-4 Maybe even 5 years old. Nobody is posting anything fresh about Twdg. The only person I know that still mentions Twdg or even cares about it is a small youtuber named Domthebomb and he doesn't even play it anymore. Telltale isn't good anymore no offense.

• Nothing exciting going on, all you get to do is give one of your items for free and watch emily drunkenly dance. Why is my contribution the only one that matters? This festival has potential though.
Dance of the Moonlight Jellies - IM SORRY. Yes it’s beautiful but after the very first time seeing it it is very boring.
Festival of Ice - It is kinda fun the first time but after that I usually skip. Love the decor though.
Egg Festival - Good start to the festivals and the egg hunt is pretty fun. Still enjoy the hunt after you win the straw hat.
Spirits Eve - GREAT DECOR. The maze is fun but theres really nothing to do past year 1.
Feast of the Winter Star - So cute, great decor, and its exciting to see who will be your gift giver and what gift you will receive.
Night Market - There is a lot to do, fun activities and great items to buy. Bonus points because it lasts for days and doesn’t halt the game.
Flower Dance - Most people would place it lower but it is one of my favorites. Such a unique idea and it impacts the game greatly. Nothing like getting rejected by everyone year 1 and then having that special person to dance with year
