Hi, thanks in advance for any advice. Fist time projector buyer, so apologies for my ignorance. I'm looking for an entry level ($500-$1k) projector for home movies in the living room and outdoors. This will not be a dedicated room, so fairly compact is preferred. I'm looking for decent image quality, brightness, quiet fan. I will be buying a screen, probably 80" - 100" max. Both the EF-100 and EF-11 seem to fit the bill, but I'm not clear what the dfferences are between the two or which is "better.". Additionally, if there are other models you would recommend, please advise. I will likely be hooking it up to an AppleTV, and sound out to a home theater. Not into gaming. TY

Description of Original Problem: I have noticed that in a lot of my games there is microstuttering going on. It's not horrible, but I've been noticing it a lot.
Troubleshooting: I've tried everything from changing in game graphics settings from low to maximum, capping framerate, turning V-SYNC off and on, turning on Free-sync, changing gpu settings, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, all the way to completely wiping the system and nothing is working. Any help or ideas would be really appreciated!

2023.06.03 22:58 tateu Anyone Have Thoughts on Fan Noise - Beelink Mini S vs. Ser 5 5500U?

I've had 4 Minis, two with practically silent fans (used as video players attached to TVs), one I've learned to live with (used as desktop main computer) and one that was so bad I returned it after 1 day (had planned to use it as combo video player for TV plus security cam viewer, weather server, etc.).
 
Currently, I'm using a Beelink Mini S - N95, 16GB as a Kodi video player (1080p h264, h265) with a weather display or 720/1080p rtsp camera viewer with 4 simultaneous feeds displayed on a secondary monitor. The fan is always practically silent which is what I want in a media player, but the video playback struggles a little if I am watching a video in Kodi and also viewing the 4 rtsp camera feeds...the Kodi video occasionally stutters. If I switch to watching Kodi and just one camera feed, the video playback is fine.
 
I was looking to get something a little more powerful and so I tried out the Bosgame G35 - i5-1135G7 16GB Ram. At $239 US, that seemed like a decent price...but the fan is horrendously bad. Idle Temp was around 40 C with the fan being practically silent and max temp I saw was around 70 C with a very loud fan. And the worst part was that the fan kicked in at what seemed to be full speed anytime the CPU temp went up just a few degrees. This meant it was constantly turning on and off. The Advanced Tab was missing in the bios and I tried various ways to get it to show, none of which worked, so there seemed to be no possibility to make any adjustments. I returned it the next day.
 
Now I decided to look into the Beelink Ser 5 5500U, 16GB (current low price on Amazon I've seen for that is $249 US) but based on my experience with my Beelink Ser 5 5600H, I'm worried it's going to have the exact same fan noise.
 
Does anyone have any real world experience with devices comparable to the 5500U with 16GB, either AMD or Intel, at around a $250 US price and have any recommendations for any with pretty quiet fans, comparable to the Beelink Mini S - N95?
 
Here's what I've seen out of my 4 devices:
Beelink Mini S - N95 16GB Ram Idle: 65 C, 2250 RPM Fan is practically silent 100% CPU: 92 C, 2800 RPM Fan is practically silent GMKTek Nucbox 5 - N5105 8GB Ram Idle: 43 C, Does not have fan sensor Fan is practically silent 100% CPU: 80 C Fan is low Beelink Ser 5 - 5600H 64GB Ram Temps get into the 70s very easily and the fan speeds up and gets medium loud Idle: 58 C, Does not have fan sensor Fan is practically silent 100% CPU: 84 C Fan is medium loud 100% CPU: 90 C Fan is pretty loud Bosgame G35 - i5-1135G7 16GB Ram Fan turns on loud and full speed all the time, practically anytime the temp goes up just a few degrees. Advanced tab in bios is not available, so there is no possibility to adjust Idle: 40 C, Does not have fan sensor Fan is practically silent 100% CPU: 70 C Fan is very loud

Did quite extensive testing and this is what I found.
In essence it works similar to regular breeding. The baby Rhynio will inherit some stat points from the mother Rhynio and some from the surrogate dinosaur. However they wont transfer perfectly. Depending on how many cravings you satisfy and the size of the surrogate you get better stat transfer.
For example one of the tests I did in single player with a Rex surrogate with 0 cravings satisfied. If the baby inherited the stat from the mother it only got 25% of the points. If it inherited the stat from the Rex it got 20% of the points. In both cases rounded down.
Another test with a Rex and satisfying all cravings the baby would inherit the mother's stat points perfectly but if inheriting from the Rex would only get 80% of the points.
Testing again with a Trike and all cravings. Perfect transfer from mother, 44% from Trike.
Testing with a Giga and all cravings the stat transfer was perfect from both mother and Giga.
To give a concrete example. Say you have a Rhynio female with 20 pts in health which impregnates a Rex with 45 pts in damage. If you satisfy all cravings and the baby inherits health from mother and damage from Rex, then you'll get a baby Rhynio with 20 pts in health and ~36 pts (45*0.8) in damage. Exact same scenario with a Trike and it would get ~19 pts (45*0.44) damage. With a giga the baby would have come out with perfect 45 damage.
My data might not be perfect, especially the percentages, but it was consistent enough that I'm fairly confident in my findings. Didn't test much for how it would scale with less than perfect cravings but would assume it scales somewhat linearly between some min and max value of inheritance (that is individual for mother and surrogate stats).

As a coach, you should wait until the batter puts the ball in play, then notify the umpire before the next pitch. You will get an automatic out and all runner advances will be nullified.
  2. "Out of the baseline!". This one really bothers me. The baseLINE doesn't mean anything, and is literally just the line between two bases. Runners establish their own basePATHS. Think about every time a runner makes a big turn at first base. They should be out every time by that logic. No, a runner gets 3 feet to either side of the line between wherever they are at the moment a tag is attempted and the base (even if they are standing in center field).
  3. Coaches' interference is only called when "physically assisting" the runner. A high-five is not an assist. Assists could include holding a runner back, pushing him home, picking him off the ground, etc.
  4. This one is straight out of the rule book. Some people say if it is obvious that the runner is out, they shouldn't keep running. By the same token, if it is obvious the runner is out, the defense shouldn't throw the ball. The purpose of this rule is to remove the need for an umpire to judge the runner's intent. However, if any other act is committed that would otherwise be considered interference by the retired runner, the penalty is that an additional runner would be called out. I wouldn't recommend this strategy, since retired runners don't have any protection from obstruction or collision that normally applies to live runners.
  5. Again, straight from the rule book. Balks are very complicated, and there is a whole section in the rules on them. At the very least, don't complain about a balk call (or no call) until you have read the entire section. Balks are probably the most poorly understood part of the game for people who otherwise understand the game well.

Just something I have been contemplating recently but not sure if will work effectively or if there are any holes in my theory.
Could using a stop limit sell order prevent you from ending up owning stocks that drop massively to like down 80%. For example, say the max drop you want to own them at is down 30% if you set a sell order to sell at the 30% dropped price how long can you let this order run for? Is there a time period before it runs out?
Is this a wise thing to do, say a stock bought at €100, drops 30% to €70 so you automatically sell at €70. Then buy back in when it steadies off again or if it rises back to the €100.
Will this help avoid bag holding greatly depreciated stocks of 70/80%. I suppose. The main pitfalls might be: Will there be too many sales transactions as even good stocks fluctuate and when to decide the buy back in point is if you wish to!

I got this as a blind buy from a fragrance auction. I must say I was clearly brainwashed by online reviews. Not to say it’s bad, it’s great but I had really high expectations. It opens up as sharp minty, towards the dry down I get creamy sandalwood.
Unfortunately I don’t get any grapefruit note.
Longevity: Average on my skin😕(max 3 hours sadly). I don’t think it’s because of olfactory fatigue, but i need to confirm.
Sillage: good but not huge, does not fill up the room for me.
This made me think I got a fake one. I bought a decant separately to confirm the authenticity.
Whats good: 1. It’s a Chanel, fabulous presentation! Magnetic cap, the look and feel, just amazing. 2. Smells rich, unique and sophisticated. The smooth sandalwood dry down is intoxicating to me 4. My mom likes the fragrance!!
What’s bad: 1. Had very high expectations with projection and longevity, does not meet my expectations. My Ajmal evoke gold (a clone of prada l’homme) performs better 😕 2. No grapefruit for me😕 (folks say edt has more of it but I fear it’s worse in terms of performance) 3. I don’t see it as a daily driver. Suitable for dressed up scenarios. Could be good for Dates/weddings/other occasions(but does not perform). I feel it would be an overkill for the office, although you would get good compliments.
Regardless, it’s still a masterpiece.
Lesson learnt: stop impulsive buys, even if the deal is great. Buy a decant first.
Would I pass it on or sale? No, it’s a unique experience. No that I’ve invested, I’ll keep it.
How much did pay? I bought a partial of around 80+mls around 7.1k. I got a quote for new around 9.2k for 100ml. So this action seemed like a fair deal.
More recommendations with grapefruit notes are appreciated.

Max engine speed: 4000 RPM and EPC light on
I changed my oil yesterday and since drove about 120 miles. Today when I started my car up on my break at work, this message appeared. It was also overheating. Since I was on break, I haven’t yet attempted to drive. Unfortunately, I will not be able to get anyone to look at it until Tuesday. I did a quick google search and saw a few things about a faulty oil switch/sensor—which could make sense my oil was just changed. Has anyone had this issue?
