Whether you're an aspiring entrepreneur or an established seller, this article will explore the key factors to consider when selling fashion items for women. By understanding and implementing these factors, you can effectively navigate the market and maximize your chances of success.

Target Market Analysis

Before diving into selling fashion items for women, it's crucial to conduct a thorough analysis of your target market. Understand the preferences, needs, and purchasing behaviors of your potential customers. Consider factors such as age group, style preferences, price range, and geographical location. This analysis will help you tailor your product offerings to meet the specific demands of your target market, ensuring higher customer satisfaction and increased sales.

Trend Research

The fashion industry is ever-evolving, with new trends emerging regularly. Staying up-to-date with the latest fashion trends is essential when selling fashion items for women. Conduct thorough trend research to identify popular styles, colors, patterns, and materials. This knowledge will guide your product selection and help you offer trendy and in-demand fashion items to your customers. Stay connected with fashion publications, influencers, and industry events to stay ahead of the curve.

Quality and Durability

In the competitive fashion market, quality and durability are key factors that can set your products apart. Invest in sourcing high-quality materials and work with reliable manufacturers and suppliers. Ensure that your fashion items are well-crafted, durable, and capable of withstanding regular wear and tear. Delivering quality products will earn you a reputation for excellence and encourage repeat purchases and positive word-of-mouth referrals.

Pricing Strategy

Setting the right price for your fashion items is crucial for sales success. Consider factors such as production costs, market demand, competition, and perceived value when determining your pricing strategy. Striking a balance between affordability and profitability is essential. Conduct market research to understand the price range for similar fashion items in the market. Offer competitive prices that appeal to your target market while ensuring your business remains profitable.

Branding and Differentiation

In a crowded marketplace, effective branding and differentiation are essential for standing out from the competition. Develop a strong brand identity that resonates with your target market. Craft a unique selling proposition (USP) that highlights the distinctive features of your fashion items. Whether it's the use of sustainable materials, innovative designs, or a specific niche focus, find ways to differentiate your brand and create a memorable impression on your customers.

Online Presence and Marketing

In today's digital age, having a strong online presence is crucial for the success of your fashion business. Create a visually appealing and user-friendly website or online store to showcase your fashion items. Utilize social media platforms to engage with your audience, share product updates, and create a community around your brand. Seasonal Trends

One of the key factors to consider when determining the best time to sell fashion items for women is the seasonal trends. By adjusting your inventory and marketing strategies to match the seasonal demands, you can attract more customers and generate higher sales.

Festive and Holiday Seasons

Festive and holiday seasons are known to be prime selling periods for fashion items. Events such as Christmas, New Year's Eve, Valentine's Day, and other cultural and religious celebrations create a surge in consumer spending. During these times, people are more inclined to purchase new outfits, accessories, and gifts. Capitalize on these festive seasons by offering special promotions, discounts, and themed collections. Plan your inventory and marketing campaigns well in advance to ensure you have a diverse range of fashion items that cater to the specific needs and desires of customers during these celebratory periods.

Special Occasions and Weddings

Special occasions such as weddings, parties, and formal events create a demand for elegant and sophisticated fashion items. These events often require attendees to dress up and make a fashion statement. As a seller on ileoja.ng, you can leverage this demand by curating a collection specifically tailored to special occasions. Offer a wide range of formal dresses, evening gowns, accessories, and shoes that cater to various tastes and budgets. These events create a sense of urgency and excitement among customers, driving them to make impulse purchases. Participating in these events by offering discounts and special deals can help you attract bargain-seeking customers and clear out excess inventory.

2023.06.07 13:34 BaseballSeveral1107 I HATE WINTER

It's cold. But when it's winter it must be cold. And that's the problem. You either have to pay for heat or get tired with getting coal or wood, starting the fire and checking it doesn't spread. Going out is a torture. You have to put in a dozen layers of clothes. Underwear, pants, short-sleeved shirt, long-sleeved shirt, sweatshirt, boots, neck warmer, hat, gloves. To go out to a shop that is on the ground level or just around the corner, you need all this wearing and getting tired. Winter clothes are heavy, limit motions, sometimes even visibility, and are hard to put on and put off. So buying those is hard and even if you do, then they're hard to walk in. Summer and spring don't have those problems, because you can put on clothes for outdoors and indoors, just change boots and you're alright.
And winter is such a great time to get sick. And the worst thing is having a stuffed nose and have to breathe with your mouth, with this cold air. Throat damage guaranteed, plus this pain in the face from the cold air blowing in your direction. Summer and spring don't have such problems. And winter has the highest amount of deaths of all the seasons. I literally got a frostbite because I touched snow with my bare hands because I didn't have gloves on them. And if you're healthy and put on the clothes, there's another problem.
Getting around. Most of us are rich and have a car and can drive wherever they want. But if you can't, you have to use public transit. I don't have anything about just using it or the fact of the existence of public transit, but the quality of those in Poland, where I live, leaves much to be desired. You have to wait, in cold. In a city this isn't a problem as big as in the rural areas where buses function. These are often coming only in early mornings and in early afternoon, but even if they come more often, they often are late. And no matter the location, you often have to stand, and even if you find a seat, you can sometimes smell people who don't shower very often. Trams, trains, metros and buses are often heated, like most indoor places, we'll get to that later, and people coming there in winter are usually in jackets and sweat in those vehicles, especially considering how crowded they often get and how warm those crowded people are. You'll sweat like a construction worker after 8 hours of work during a heatwave. And driving doesn't save you from the effects of winter. You have to scrape snow from your car, the engine can not start or the visibility is low and roads are blocked or icy, you can skid easily and crash into another car, a pedestrian, a pole or a tree. Walking does neither. If snow falls, it's crushed by people walking, melts and freezes again, and or forms ice on the sidewalk. And you can slip on it and either break something or die. Each time I walk on it, I think I'm gonna die. Either i slip on it and land on a spiked fence, I land on the sidewalk and break something, or I land on the street and get run over by a semi truck or a car. If you manage to get to your destination, there's another problem.
All the buildings are heated, so if you're in winter clothes, you're going to sweat like a construction worker after 8 hours of work during a heatwave.
It's dark half the day. You go to work or school, dark, you go back, dark. And the other half it's cloudy and grey. And the whole world dies. No leaves, no grass, no flowers, some animals hibernate, just grey, cloudy skies and white brown combination of snow, soil, water and mud. No sun. Sure, there are Christmas lights but let's face it, they are only to hide the grey and dark.
It's a hard time for students. The semester ends. You have to pass everything. They throw a lot of tests and quizzes at you. You will tire yourself to death.
Winter sports and games. Snowballs. I hate snowballs. Even if the person who throws one is someone I like. Usually, I take it easy, but in my mind, I hate it. Ice skating. I can't do that because the nearest lake or skating rink is too far away to walk. I could afford that, but I would need to wear all those clothes, get on the bus, ask my parents for approval, get back. No way. Skiing. I live in a city surrounded by forests and farm fields. No way. Sledding. Those are easier because I have some hills in my neighborhood, but going out, taking the sled, going back. Nope. Snowman. Going out. No.
And there are, CHRISTMAS IN WINTER. I'm fed up with them. Literally a few days after Halloween and All Saints Day, all the shops and malls are decorated, and Christmas songs are playing on the radio and Christmas commercials on TV. "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart...":“Christmas promotion! Bone carp, only 21.37 per package or a withered Christmas tree, 69.69 each plus delivery for 3.21. Holidays for Christmas, Old Zealand, 666.66 both ways. Christmas loans, only in Pierogi Bank Polski." Don't take Christmas loans, that's the stupidest thing you can do in that time of the year. They're still up everywhere, wherever I go, whatever I look at. Until the day finally arrives, December 24, when you are completely fed up with it. And it's not like I hate Christmas. Christmas in their current shape and theme are asking for dislike. You want to get up, leave, and come back when all this madness is over. But it's nice that we have time off and we get presents and meet our family. In the summer we have more free time, and on birthdays and name days we also get gifts and meet our family. But always something. And then there's another holiday.
New Year's Eve and New Year, when humans celebrate Earth going around the Sun once again, while nothing besides it happens in nature and humanity on those two days. You can do whatever you want on that day, and in my case, it'll be sitting on the couch in pajamas, watching TV and eating some unhealthy snacks like chips. Most people will spend it partying with friends and family and doing stuff together. And then, they will count from 10 to 1 like if a rocket was starting, and then fireworks explore, and dogs are scared. Afterwards, people will start to go home. 2023.06.07 13:33 Additional_Antelope Construction by the Library

I'm planning on moving to Silver Spring this summer and am considering a couple of places around the library. But I just read that that's where they're putting in the Purple Line and there's going to be ongoing construction until at least the end of the year. Can anyone who lives in the area give me some insight on how disruptive/noisy that is? Thanks!

2023.06.07 13:30 BaseballSeveral1107 CMV: Winter is the worst season

And then you can't sleep the whole night because some idiots have too much fireworks and firecrackers, which is also a problem the whole winter.

2023.06.07 13:21 LibbyGoods Alternative catering ideas for CIT student event

Hi all! At the end of the year my graduating class is hosting an EOY exhibition. We're putting feelers out for caterers and there's no better place for Canberra knowledge than here.
We're looking to cater for around 100 people in Fyshwick and want something a little interesting rather than the usual people in black clothes carrying wanky trays around. Two we've flagged so far are Mr Papa and Capital Woodfired Pizza, but does anyone have any suggestions of places that could be cool? Open to all types of food, sweet or savoury. Just looking for something interesting.
...alternatively I could be convinced for people in black carrying trays if anyone knows places that do discounts for student events.
Thanks!

A way to make unflirty sim flirty?

I grew Billie Jang(a premade sim from San Myshuno) up to young adult and gave her the unflirty trait, and she does not live with her parents anymore, and she works in the social media career; however, when I played her family, which consists of her and her roommates again, I found that she became flirty because of a clothing item, which is apparently the hat, and I decided to use this chance to make her get a boyfriend and get married.
Maybe others can also try this item to make their unflirty sims flirty when needed.
Also strangely, unflirty sims usually have a strong recluse to expressing romantic love, but the choice of "Declare love publicly" is the same as other sims, this is kinda unexpected, as we'd expect unflirty sims to be very reluctant to express love publically. Below is the evidence:
https://preview.redd.it/e4ff2if3lk4b1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=89f720768a77450eae9051db0ef52f533cb78fb3
Btw, being unflirty does not really preclude WooHoo and having children as of now, since you can be WooHoo partners with someone without having real romantic relationships with them.
Btw, the house Billie Jang now lives is downloaded from the gallery of ashleekf, which is called Dusty Turf, and I place it in its land namesake in Oasis Springs, but the furniture was set up by myself.
Moreover, the hat I mentioned above is a basegame item, and is available in CAS. Here I use Eva Capricciosa, another premade sim from Windenburg, as an example. She has been married in my gameplay though:

As always, this is not a comprehensive list, but only includes all the books I have heard about so far.
If you have a fantasy novel you are self publishing in June or beyond, let me know by filling out THIS FORM, and I shall add it to the page. There are but 3 requirements:
1) It must be a self published fantasy novel.

Together, they broker peace between Florence and its enemy.

The king stands increasingly alone against: the Constantines, a commercial enterprise as much as a clan, who aim to profit from peace as they have from war – the warrior nobles, descended from the founders of Florence and quick to turn against a weak throne – and Reburrus, the high priest of Florence, convinced Claire answers to hostile foreign gods. As the city comes to a boil, Claire and Marcus – and Marcus’s formidable army – will have to decide where their allegiance lies.

1st June – The Nameless Restaurant by Tao Wong

Urban Fantasy, Cozy Fantasy

There is no sign, no indication of what lies behind the door. If you do manage to find the restaurant, the décor is dated and worn. Homey, if one were to be generous. The service is atrocious, the proprietor a grouch. The regulars are silent, brooding, and unfriendly to newcomers. There is no set menu, alternating with the whim and whimsy of the owner. The selection of wine and beer is sparse or non-existent at times, and the prices for everything outrageous. There is a restaurant in Toronto that is magically hidden, whose service is horrible, but whose food is divine. This is the story of the Nameless Restaurant.

2023.06.07 11:21 _____keepscrolling__ Today (June 7th) is a trauma date of sorts for me, it was extremely painful and complicated as a kid, as I was alone with it; as an adult now, am I going about today correctly? Any thoughts opinion are greatly appreciated, I don’t want to be alone with this anymore.

Today (June 7th) has been a difficult day for me since I was about 11, it is an associated trauma date from extremely painful and strong emotions I associate with my longest disassociated memory gap. I didn’t want to explain this to my T because I didn’t want to give it more power than it already has on me and has for so long, I just wanted to try and skate by today without thinking about it. I used to go through so many rituals every June 7th, there was so much fear and helplessness and an attempt to escape from filth and dirtiness(association around sexual stuff) all the time, but on June 7th it felt like life or death. Wherever I was at 2:36am(technically June 8th) during the night of June 7th was a filthy place, anything I heard, did, tried or ate in that day and surrounding days would be added to the associated filth forever.
I thought everything as a kid and teen was dirty but one thing I’ve realized in therapy is that actually I was dirty and made everything feel filthy; wherever I went would become rotten over time by my mere presence(that sounds bad but it’s actually a healthy realization for me, as it makes me face that this wasn’t outside of myself). All of this association was so strong I would start to become depressed starting in early spring by the looming feeling that it all has, the association of humidity and becoming sweaty and the sounds of bugs at night to name a few would just bring me down with all these emotions. I try not to give all this power by just ignoring as best I can but I still feel this pit in my stomach and this horrible inescapable guilt about all of it. I’m good at detaching from my emotions and I’m good at telling myself whatever I need to think or feel in order to get through things. That’s one way I would handle growing up in an abusive environment. The other way is I dissociate and forget things very quickly. I try to use all of that to combat this by just trying to cut off from it all and try not to remember anything year to year because if I did I would associate that thing and where I was with all of these horrible feelings.
I’m 25 and it just hasn’t escaped me. I’ve remembered a lot in therapy, my T is a trauma specialist and it’s trauma therapy, I’ve remembered being physically abused, that as a matter of fact is where the dissociation started, I’ve also remembered being icky gross abused at the age of 9. This is different than those things. These things I haven’t faced yet because it’s like remembering and seeing them through a fish eye lens looking outside of myself, it’s sufficiently distant 90% of the time until it’s not and I start reacting or just shutting down.
I don’t really know what to ask for, but this is the first time I’ve talked about this so openly, especially on the date itself. I’m trying to make today as normal as possible in order to not give it all that much power. Maybe even try and replace some of the associated emotions with more positive or constructive ones. Even now with what I’ve already talked about, I’m trying to be contained about it all and not react, but it’s gnawing at me as it always does.
I don’t know if any of this makes sense, but I would really appreciate some input, feedback, support etc. I don’t want to feel alone anymore with this.

Check out part 1 for context
The Tonpa Kingdoms Part 1 (Overview and The Gods) : worldbuilding (reddit.com)
There are 5 connected Kingdoms that have Tonpa as their main religion these are.
Jangshun
A Place of snow-capped Mountains and green Valleys, said to be built upon the ruins of the ancient Jungar people who controlled much of the area of Jangshun and the nearby kingdoms of Monyul and Taishigang.
Very little is known about the Jungar, their ruins are scattered throughout the landscape of Jangshun, and are often characterized by simple stone structures, pottery shards, and other artifacts. Based on these remains, it is believed that the Jungar were a relatively simple society, with a lifestyle that revolved around farming, herding, and other basic activities.
Despite their lack of sophistication, the Jugar are an important part of the history and culture of the region many myths and legends have grown up around them, the people of Jangshun often see the Jungar as a symbol of the enduring spirit of the region, and take pride in the fact that they were able to survive and thrive in a harsh and unforgiving environment. In addition to their physical remains, the Jungar have left a lasting impact on the people of Jangshun in other ways. Their language, customs, and traditions are thought to have influenced the culture of the later kingdom, and many people still feel a strong connection to the Jagun and their way of life.
The Capital of Jangshun is called Druktse, founded by Dragon Priests and the legendary Namgyal dynasty the city is known for its unique architecture, with buildings made of wood and stone, intricately carved and painted with colorful designs and motifs, the streets are narrow and winding, with prayer flags fluttering in the breeze and the sound of temple bells ringing in the air.
At the center of the city is the Royal Palace of Jigme Wangchuk, a majestic building that serves as the residence of the Royal Family, the palace consists of several wings and halls, each with its own specific function. The main hall is the center of political and ceremonial activities, where the king held court and received important guests. The royal family's private quarters were located in a separate wing, with opulent living spaces and lavish decorations.
One of the most impressive features of the palace is the Eagle Tower, a tall structure that houses the elite Eagle Guards, who were responsible for the king's security the tower is covered from top to bottom with intricate carvings of the bird of prey.
The palace is surrounded by lush gardens and fountains, and it is guarded by soldiers in traditional Eagle attire, the Eagle Guards of the palace of Jingme Wangchuk are an elite group of soldiers tasked with protecting the king and the royal family, known for their fearsome reputation and exceptional combat skills, the Eagle Guards are considered one of the most prestigious units in the Jangshun army.
The guards are named after the majestic eagles that inhabit the mountainous regions of Jangshun, and they were trained to emulate the hunting tactics of these birds of prey. They are adept at using the terrain to their advantage, and are particularly skilled at scaling steep cliffs and mountainous terrain to surprise and overwhelm their enemies. In addition to their exceptional combat skills, the Eagle Guards were also known for their loyalty and dedication to the royal family. They undergo rigorous training and were selected based on their physical prowess, intelligence, and character, to become an Eagle Guard, applicants must be graduates of both the School of the Father and School of the Dragon.
The Eagle Guards are outfitted in distinctive uniforms that featured a stylized eagle emblem, and they were armed with a variety of weapons, including bows, spears, and swords. They were also known to use eagle feathers and talons in their armor and equipment, as a nod to the unit's namesake.
Druktse is a hub of cultural and religious activities, with several monasteries and temples located throughout the city.
The most famous of these is the Tashicho Dzong, a stunning fortress monastery that serves as the seat of The Gyelpa (The Duke) the secondary ruler of Druktse and the center of Druk-Ta worship. The dzong is surrounded by high walls and towers, and is accessible through a grand gate that is guarded by soldiers. The interior of the dzong is a maze of courtyards, chapels, and offices, all connected by narrow passageways and staircases.
One of the most impressive features of Tashicho Dzong is its towering central fortress and monastery, which rises above the rest of the complex and can be seen from miles around. This fortress is home to the Dragon Priests and is one of the most important structures in Jangshun. The fortress monastery is also famous for its beautiful architecture and intricate artwork. The walls of the courtyards are adorned with colorful murals and paintings, while the chapels are filled with statues and other religious artifacts. Visitors to Tashicho Dzong can tour the complex and learn about Jangshun history and culture, as well as observe the daily routines of the monks who live and work there. The Monastery is open to the public during certain hours of the day, and visitors are advised to dress modestly and remove their shoes before entering the chapels. Even though the current royal family of Jangshun are connected to The Father, The Dragon holds a special place in Druktse.
The people of Druktse are known for their warm hospitality and their strong sense of community. They celebrate several festivals throughout the year, including the annual Tshechu festival, the 3 Gods Festival which features colorful dances and rituals performed by monks and laypeople.
To the north-east of the Kingdom lies the second biggest city in Jangshun, the city of Lhagyal, often called “The Fire-proof City”
Lhagyal is a mass of stone walls and buildings with precious little wood being used at all, the walls of the city are imposingly high and even the central palace is relatively flat and does not rise above the walls, there are 4 gates made of pure steel and those are the only entrances and exits.
Inside the city walls, the streets are narrow and winding, with tall, tightly packed buildings constructed from rough-hewn stone. The architecture is distinct, with flat roofs and ornate metal doors decorating the doorways and windows, many of the buildings are built into the city's walls, their backs resting against the ancient stones.
There is more to the city than what meets the eye. Beneath the streets lie a labyrinth of tunnels and catacombs, built for both practical and spiritual purposes. Some are used for storage or as escape routes, while others are filled with ancient artifacts and sacred relics. The catacombs are also home to a complex network of underground temples and shrines and busy streets that are home to underground residences and businesses.
Despite its rugged appearance, the city's architecture is a testament to its resilience. It has withstood numerous attempts at invasion over the centuries, including attacks by powerful enemies armed with the latest in siege weaponry. The city's fortifications are a marvel of engineering, designed to withstand even the most devastating attacks and yet, for all its defensive prowess, the city has never lost sight of its cultural heritage.
The most famous instance of this was when the neighbouring Confucian Kingdom of Jinyun attempted to invade Jangshun with its impressive military might, scores of loyal foot-soldiers hardened by decades of conflict and advanced siege technology that included weapons that used fireworks.
The city withstood months of warfare with Lhagyal earning its nickname of “The Fire-proof City” The stone structures withstood the fireworks and the hard rock of the walls withstood the Jinyun catapults, outside the city several guerilla efforts by the Eagle Guards, The Company of the Hand and The White Tigers from Monyul lending their support repelled attempted on-foot invasions by the hardened Jinyun soldiers.
In the south-west of Jangshun, near the borders of Monyul and Taishigang lies the town of Gyalpeling, a place revered by monks and pilgrims alike. Gyalpeling, meaning "Abode of the Victorious" is a small yet vibrant town located in a remote corner of the kingdom. Its strategic location, surrounded by imposing mountains and blessed with fertile lands, has made it a crucial hub for spiritual activities and monastic life. The town is centered around a grand monastery, which serves as the heart and soul of the community. The monastery, known as Samtenling Monastery, is a majestic complex of ornate buildings adorned with colorful murals, fluttering prayer flags, and the sound of chanting monks echoing through the air. It is a revered place of worship and learning, drawing scholars, practitioners, and seekers of wisdom from far and wide. The streets of Gyalpeling are lined with modest housing for monks, adorned with intricate woodcarvings and colorful paintings. The locals, known for their warm hospitality and deep reverence for Tonpa, every activity the townspeople engage in helps the monastery in some way, whether trading, farming or craftsmanship, every resident of Gyalpeling helps out the monastery in some way. The town also boasts natural hot springs, believed to have healing properties, which attract pilgrims and visitors seeking solace and rejuvenation. The pristine rivers and lakes surrounding Gyalpeling add to its enchanting beauty, serving as places for meditation, ritual ablutions, and scenic walks. Gyalpeling is not only a place of spiritual significance, but it also serves as a center of learning, with numerous scriptoria, libraries, and meditation caves where monks engage in intensive study, contemplation, and meditation, prospective monks come from all over the 5 Kingdoms to study in Gyalpeling, as monks educated within its walls are valued in any court of the Tonpa Kingdoms.
One of the most valuable cities in Jangshun isn't far from the capital, a short 1 hour horse ride east of Druktse stands the city of Jangtse, a jewel in the crown of the kingdom. Jangtse, meaning "Silver Peak" in the local tongue, owes its fame and prosperity to the rich veins of silver that run through the nearby mountains, making it a thriving center for mining and trade. At the heart of Jangtse rises a magnificent conical palace, known as Jang Potrang, or the "Silver Palace." The palace, glistening like a beacon atop the tallest hill in the city, is adorned with silver-plated roofs, walls, and pillars, reflecting the sunlight and casting a mesmerizing glow over the surrounding landscape. It serves as the royal residence, where the Count holds court and conducts affairs pertaining to the area between Jangtse and Druktse. The streets of Jangtse are lined with buildings that boast silver-plated facades, creating a surreal and shimmering sight as one walks through the city, often shining gold from reflecting the sunlight, the wealth of the city is evident in the intricate silver filigree work that adorns windows, doors, and rooftops of temples, mansions, and markets alike. The silversmiths of Jangtse are renowned for their craftsmanship, producing exquisite silverware and jewelry that are sought after by collectors and traders from distant lands. The city is a bustling center of commerce, with a vibrant market square where merchants from across the region gather to trade in silver, gemstones, textiles, and other precious goods. The sounds of bartering, laughter, and the clinking of silver coins fill the air.
The Armies of Jangshun are known for their ferocious foot-soldiers, the every-day rank and file soldiers of the Jangshun armies are regarded as the best in the region and are a feared prospect to face on any battlefield.
The soldiers of the army of Jangshun are highly disciplined and skilled in the art of warfare, and are renowned throughout the region for their courage and loyalty. They are trained in a variety of weapons and fighting styles, including archery, swordsmanship, and hand-to-hand combat.
It is said that the success of the army comes from the fact that many men and women who fight in it are from mountainous regions and are conditioned from a young age to move over mountainous land with ease, their armies can easily traverse land that would be impossible for normal armies to travel over, due to the fact that the soldiers know the land.
The army of Jangshun is led by a commander-in-chief, who is appointed by the common foot-soldiers and is responsible for the overall strategy and tactics of the army. Under the commander-in-chief, there are several generals and officers who oversee different units of the army, each with their own specific roles and responsibilities. The soldiers of the army of Jangshun are equipped with a variety of weapons and armor, including shields, helmets, and chainmail. They are also skilled in the use of traditional weapons, such as the da and the gochu, which are types of swords. In addition to their skills in battle, the soldiers of the army of Jangshun are also highly respected for their loyalty and devotion to their ruler and country. They are known for their strong sense of duty and honor, and are willing to lay down their lives in defense of their homeland. The army of Jangshun is often called upon to defend the kingdom against invading forces, and has a long history of successful battles and campaigns. Their reputation for courage and skill has earned them the respect of their neighbors and allies, and they are a source of pride and inspiration for the people of Jangshun.
One of the most famous regiments from Jangshun is the “Wheel of Steel” A heavily armored longsword unit founded by Princess Jamyang Daughter of King Kunga and Sister of King Yangchen of the Yeshe Dynasty after she travelled to Europe and witnessed people fighting in full suits of armor, this was a foreign concept in the areas around her and she implemented the idea with her Father's (And later Brother's) full support they were first deployed in aid of Taishigang who were experiencing an invasion from a nearby Dharmist Kingdom. The longswords cleaved through the invading forces lack of armor and their steel plates deflected blows.
Monyul
Monyul is a land of vast open spaces and stunning natural beauty. The kingdom is home to a proud and fiercely independent people, who have built a rich culture and a strong military tradition, its plains are green and warm during the summer but snow is not uncommon in winter. Dharmaling is the capital city of Monyul and is nestled in the hills, surrounded by winding rivers and vast grasslands. It is a city steeped in tradition and culture, with a rich history that stretches back centuries.
Dharmaling was built as the northern most outpost of the Dharmist Indraprastha Empire but was conquered by Tonpa forces from a tribe that would eventually become known as the Monyul. The city is built around a central marketplace, where merchants from all over the known world come to trade their wares. The marketplace is a bustling hub of activity, filled with the sounds of bargaining and haggling, and the aromas of exotic spices and perfumes.
The Company of the Wind have their main offices in Dharmaling and use the bustling 10 storey wooden building to plan its operations throughout the known world. The streets of Dharmaling are relatively wide due to the constant horse carts that pass through them. The buildings are made of stone and wood, with intricately carved facades and ornate balconies. Many of the houses have flat roofs, which are used as outdoor living spaces during the warmer months. At the heart of the city lies the great monastery of The 3 Gods, unlike in other cities which have separate monasteries for the three Gods, this temple combines them as a display of unity between the three sects. The massive structure dominates the skyline, with its towering walls and intricate carvings. The monastery is home to a community of monks, who dedicate their lives to the study and practice of Tonpa. Surrounding the monastery are the homes of the nobility, who are known for their wealth and power. These grand estates are filled with beautiful gardens and courtyards, and are often adorned with intricate carvings and colorful murals. Outside the city walls, the landscape is dotted with small villages and nomadic encampments. These communities are home to herders and farmers, who make their living tending to the region's yaks and sheep. Despite its remote location, Dharmaling is a city of great importance, both culturally and politically. It is a place of pilgrimage for Monks, Merchants and laypeople from all over the world, and is also a hub of trade and commerce. The people of Dharmaling are proud of their heritage and their way of life, and are fiercely protective of their city and its traditions.
A 30 minute walk to the west of Dharmaling lies the Temple of Tong Thang, the Beehive Temple, as visitors approach the temple, they are greeted by the gentle humming of bees that buzz around the entrance, seemingly inviting them inside, the entrance is adorned with ornate wooden doors intricately carved with depictions of bees in flight, the temple is home to hundreds of bee colonies. The interior of the temple is a marvel of craftsmanship. The walls are adorned with honeycomb patterns carved into the stone, creating a mesmerizing visual display. Soft light filters through small openings in the dome-shaped ceiling, the centerpiece of the temple is a large altar made of honey-colored stone, adorned with intricate carvings of bees and honeycombs, where devotees offer their prayers and offerings. The Temple of Thong Tang is a place of worship dedicated to the reverence of bees and their significance in nature and the cycle of life, every day priests and priestesses of The Mother make their way to the temple to tend to the bees, bringing them water and sliced fruits, every year there is a festival outside the temple where priests and priestesses of Caihong distribute honey gathered from the bees.
Monyul is home to a large lake called Jangchub Tso, the lake is bordered by lush green forests and snow-capped mountains to the south-east, a product of Monyul's border with Taishigang.
On the edge of the lake there is a large city called "Gangri Thang", which is known for its fish markets and skilled boatwrights, nobles from the surrounding Kingdoms often commission boatwrights from Gangri Thang to build grand freshwater barges for them.
Several villages surround the lake, mostly fishing and farming communities, every spring fishermen from these villages make their way to Gangri Thang with hundreds of fish, hoping to hock their catch to fishmongers, tourists and Company of the Wind officers.
The fish they carry is mainly the several species of trout that live in the lake but a few of the lucky ones carry the Golden Mahseer, a gleaming fish variety that is said to be very difficult to catch, although the taste of the fish pales in comparison to the trout, the Golden Mahseer is revered for its scales that give off a vibrant golden glow, these scales are often used in ceremonial dress of the region adoring clothing and jewellery.
The people of Monyul are also skilled artisans, known for their intricate weavings and pottery. The kingdom is home to many workshops and marketplaces, where merchants sell their wares to buyers from all over the region. The people of Monyul are known for their skill at horsemanship, and the kingdom is home to some of the finest cavalry units in the region. The army of Monyul is also composed of archers and spearmen, who are trained in the art of mounted combat and guerrilla warfare.
The most prestigious regiment of Monyul is a cavalry unit called the White Tigers, the horsemasters of the White Tigers are known as the strictest in the Tonpa Kingdoms, if a horse fails a single training drill both the horse and rider are deemed unworthy. The White Tigers main weapon is a thick spear, painted red with a bronze spearhead, it has a heavy counterweight at the back that also doubles as a blunt weapon. Their secondary weapons are a heavy sword and a short bow.

2023.06.07 10:46 lechatheureux The Tonpa Kingdoms Part 1 (Overview and The Gods)

(First I'll provide a bit of context, this is a timeline of Earth where several pagan religions have survived into the Medieval age, I'm focusing on the region around the Himalayas where a religion of my making called Tonpa has spread from the desert to the Jungle, I've changed the names of the Geographical features and real life religions and areas/Kingdoms around a bit so let me give you a guide. )
Jangshun - Tibet.
Monyul - Bhutan.
Taishigang - Nepal.
Tsaparang - Bangladesh.
Khotesh - Khotan/Xinjang basin.
Dharmist - Buddhist and Hindu.
Tengger - Tengri.
Boncho - Bon.
(This is going to be split up into several posts, just a warning)

An overview of the 5 Tonpa Kingdoms.
In the Himalayas region, stretching from the Khotesh basin to the north-west through the snow-capped mountains and down the jungles surrounding the Brahmaputra delta, are 5 Kingdoms that have a shared history, connected by one religion.
The religion is known as Tonpa and it sprang from ancient beliefs in the Jangshun plateau, and spread to encompass an impressively large area, beating out several other religions, most notably Boncho and Dharmism and grew to resist attempts to conquer its lands by Tengger and Confucian forces.
---We, the people of Tonpa know in our hearts that the Universe is a giant river and all stars and planets are floating through it, destined for the Great Lake of Rebirth, the Cosmic River starts from a giant fountain where the 3 Universal Gods brokered peace with one another after a great 30,000 year war, the souls created as fighters in the war gained worldly bodies and were greeted by the 3 Universal Gods.
In the great fountain, two places were created, the one atop the fountain a joyous place of life and celebration, but under the fountain a cold place formed, one of constant death and torture, the 3 Universal Gods declared that all shall experience both these places, the righteous shall see the bottom place first to cleanse themselves of their life's transgressions before being rewarded with time among the 3 Universal Gods, the wicked shall see the joyous place first, for even the wicked cannot go their entire lives without doing good and seeing a paradise lost when their good deeds reward expires is a punishment unto itself.
You shall see the least of your deeds first” Promised the Universal Gods, for once your mortal deeds are rewarded and punished then your soul shall spring forth from the fountain and become the water that carries stars and worlds along the Cosmic River, once your soul reaches the Great Lake of Rebirth, you are carried to a world where a newborn body awaits your soul, if you are righteous enough you will be carried to a world that is destined for the Great Lake of Rebirth for once a world enters the Great Lake of Rebirth the soul ceases to exist and once a soul ceases to exist it spreads its will across the Universe and becomes an unknowing part of life itself.
The 3 Universal Gods give every star a world that revolves around it and every world 3 Earthly Gods to govern in their stead as avatars.

2023.06.07 10:11 universalquantumzen What is Living Awareness? — Awaken the Living Awareness Within — Discover the Keys to Happiness, Inner Peace & Harmony by Sambodhi Padmasamadhi

In short, Living Awareness is the creative ground of intention and intuition, and at the same time, it is the source of the sparkle, joy and vitality that we enjoy when we are in touch with our own being; it is our bridge to the creative ground, in which all things abide and from which they spring. More in-depth: to answer this question properly, we need to introduce another closely related term, that of Living Consciousness, as they go in tandem - Living Awareness and Living Consciousness, that is. Before going more into the details, let me say this: there is a whole book written around this area called Awaken the Living Awareness Within, so creating an all-encompassing answer in a relatively short space is quite a task - you can learn more about it here.
The terms Living Consciousness and Living Awareness arise from personal experience that best describe the aliveness of the experience of being alive, of being fully awake and aware whilst exploring the physical reality, the world around us, and the possibilities of human life by occupying the vehicle better known as the human body. Living Awareness is all about experiencing our core essence, experiencing life directly, experiencing reality directly, experiencing humanness in the most direct way possible; and Living Consciousness is all those experiences put together – from cosmic to galactic, to human, animal, plant, and so on.
In terms of consciousness, at the deepest level, there is but Oneself – One undivided Self; hence Oneself. There is but One all pervading Spirit; there is but one First Cause that has its Being of itself, and on which all other beings depend; there is but one Infinite Being, so there is but One Awareness. This is where Living Awareness comes in, for you see, both the individuation – the experience of being an individuated human being – a person, as well as Oneness of Life, Oneness of Reality, are experienced through Omnipresent Awareness. In this respect, Living Awareness knows itself by itself, in itself, as itself, through itself. It is this very recognition and acknowledgment through many different facets of the same that can be called Living Consciousness.
And because both Living Consciousness and Living Awareness are closely related to Self-Realization and its natural progression, Self-Actualization, let us add a little more perspective and context. Advaita Vedanta (Ancient Non-Duality Tradition) defines Self-Realization as the knowledge of the True Self – beyond both delusion and identification with material phenomena, defining the manifest material world to be temporal – an eternal play of shakti or energy; the immutable principle or the Ultimate Reality is beyond space, time, and form – therefore, it cannot be described, quantified, reasoned, or explained – all that exists on a differentiated basis can only be directly experienced as itself. Hence, the “outside” world that we perceive with our senses as being solid, and believe to be made out of a dense material – is actually existing in consciousness, which goes on to say that everything is happening within consciousness where the mind appears.
In other words, the mind is a localization of consciousness – believed to be located in the brain and situated in the head, which in turn is a part of the human body. The body itself is an image in the mind, and everything in the mind is happening inside consciousness. Therefore, the individuated, solid, dense, located entity called “I” – is the manifestation of an idea – created by the mind as a form of an image; this, in turn, takes place inside the mind – residing in consciousness, inside which a flame of Living Awareness infinitely flickers, you see? And if one pursues to find the ultimate nature of the mind, they would end up realizing that the ultimate nature of mind is that aspect of the mind which remains constantly present in its experience – this is the Eternal Essence that cannot be removed or excluded in any circumstances; in other words, it is pure presence – Infinite Living Awareness.
Living Awareness is too close to itself to know itself as Infinite Living Awareness, and therefore the only way to know itself is through individuation and the creation of the finite mind. The finite mind isn’t an entity as such, but rather an activity through which the Infinite is able to know the world. Therefore, the finite mind is the activity of Infinite Living Awareness, which has the ability to vibrate within itself – creating the form of the finite mind. This activity then makes it possible for the Infinite to know the objective experience – enabling the Infinite to know itself through the finite mind. This knowing is Living Consciousness, you see?
Living Awareness is the creative ground of intention and intuition, and at the same time, it is the source of the sparkle, joy and vitality that we enjoy when we are in touch with our own being; it is our bridge to the creative ground, in which all things abide and from which they spring. Living Awareness is shared with every particle within All Life, and thus Living Awareness is the Heart of Living Life – this eternal, Infinite Awareness observes every part of the Creation by utilizing Living Consciousness as the means; consciousness arises when awareness observes the Creation or any part of its many emanations – so in this sense, Living Awareness is also aware of itself as the other (mirror). In order for the Infinite to know itself as something that is finite, it has to pretend to be separate from itself – this is the way in which the Living Awareness creates consciousness through which we perceive the world around us.
If one were to ask how does Living Awareness differ from awareness, they would get an answer along the lines of: not by much, other than that of emphasis being placed on the experiential aspect of it – to differentiate between mere idea and something truly alive. Living Awareness is all about experiencing our core essence, experiencing life directly, experiencing reality directly. This type of experiencing is beyond all indirect methods we commonly depend on for knowing about our experience – such as thinking, sensing, reasoning, feeling, and believing. Just in the same way as intuition doesn’t need reasoning for it to work, so in the same way is the case with direct experiencing, you see?
Hence, it goes without saying that indirect experiencing is limiting in more ways than one. You see, our senses only give us indirect information, which means that we filter in the things that we are familiar with, and filter out the things that we have no prior knowledge or comprehension. And so it goes that the mind and the senses filter out the reality of pure presence – that of Living Awareness. And this is where the difficulty comes in: there is more to experiencing direct connection to all Life than any language could ever describe – language can only convey an idea of what direct experiencing is like, and because language cannot ever describe the true essence of our existence and our experience of it, we are forced to use sounds, signs and symbols in an effort to re-connect with the Life-force that runs through everything.

2023.06.07 09:05 AbbreviationsMost286 Feeling Betrayed

I’ve been dating this guy for a few months and things have been really well. He treats me the best I’ve ever been treated, he is kind, considerate, and doesn’t want to hide me. He doesn’t mind that I’m trans, and even had a lot of queer and trans friends who have taught him a lot. He tells me that I’m beautiful and holds me when I cry, and things were moving faster than I’m used to but I’ve never felt a connection like this. We went to the same Highschool and our lives quietly orbited each other’s without us ever meeting until this last spring. Everything was perfect, with me being introduced to his brother, him my friends, and me telling my mom and dad all about him. I even drive to the city to visit whenever I can and he does the same.
Fast forward to today, he comes back in town from an out of country trip and we meet up. I take him on a boba date and we get to my place to talk and have sex. Cut to afterwards, we are cuddling and looking at pictures of his trip when he starts messing with a bump on his genitals that’s really small and unnoticeable. I ask him what it is and he says he hasn’t had a breakout in a while. My heart stops and I ask what he means, and he tells me that he has HSV.
My heart dropped and I couldn’t think or breathe. He sat there trying to explain but I was in shock. I started crying and couldn’t talk. Then sobbing. On our first date we talked about being tested and our results and history, and he didn’t say anything. Anything. I’ve never contracted anything before and used to get tested monthly when having casual sex. That was always a point of pride for me. I’d had a few scares but they never amounted to anything and I’d be careful. He had it the whole time we were together.
He held me as I cried but I became limp. I hated how he was holding me. Not because he had them but because he lied and now I’m probably infected. He kept telling me that he was sorry, that it would be ok, that he forgot about it, and that he would pay for testing. I just kept crying. I couldn’t even talk a lot in between my tears. All of the energy just left me. I still love him but I feel betrayed. I feel taken advantage of, and I’m not sure what to do. He knew my past with guys cheating on me, me being assaulted, and my experiences with casual sex at young ages till pre transition. He knew of the manipulation that I’ve experienced for most of my life and the abuse that I worked so hard to heal from. He let this stew for months, and the first time I’m hearing this is months after we had already been having sex.
I feel really hurt and I don’t know if I’ll be able to trust him again or even look him in the eye. His touch felt burning and cold at the same time and I don’t know if I will be ok with him touching me again. He ended up crying and saying that he was sorry, that he was supposed to keep me safe and that he hurt me. I wiped away his tears but I felt dead. I just kept crying. I asked a few questions and we made a plan but when he left, as soon as the door closed, I bawled. My legs gave out and I just held myself. I really loved him but I don’t know if I’ll be able to get past this.

2023.06.07 09:03 iwonderland I Switched from Hormonal Birth Control (NuvaRing) to the Copper IUD (Paragard) ~ 4 month review (positive)

When I was thinking about switching to the Copper IUD, I wished there were more detailed posts about switching from hormonal birth control to the copper IUD.
So, if anyone out there is interested in my birth control experiences, side effects, etc — here is my detailed story!
**Birth Control/Period History:*\*
As a teen I had incredibly heavy periods. Like, I filled a super plus tampon AND a maxi overnight pad in 2-3 hours kind of heavy…
I got prescribed BC pills as a teen due to bad acne and my heavy periods. HBC made my periods normal, so that was nice. I tried pills for 2-3 years then decided I was tired of taking a pill every day and wanted to try something different.
I then got the Mirena IUD. I had 8-10 months of constant spotting that never went away and I thought it made me feel crazy, so I had it removed. The doctor didn’t believe me that the Mirena made me crazy anxious/depressed, but a few weeks after switching methods I was mentally way better.
I then started Nuvaring and had it for 3 years (technically insurance gave me generic brand EluRyng if that matters). I liked the ring better than Mirena, especially at first, but over time symptoms started to develop. I became drier than the Sahara, had negative libido (I didn’t even want to cuddle with my husband most of the time lol), and nothing made me feel truly happy. It was like my emotions were just switched off. It happened so slowly though that it took me a few years to realize these symptoms might be connected to the ring.
After all that, I decided I wanted to try stopping hormonal birth control since I’d been on it for about 7 years — I just wanted to see what I felt like without synthetic hormones. But at this point I was in a serious relationship and sexually actively so I needed a method of BC. I took a while doing research and deciding between FAM/Paragard. I decided to try Paragard first because if it ended up working for me, it’d be easier than FAM lol.
I read the Period Manual by Lara Briden to prepare for coming off HBC + how to treat acne and heavy periods because although I hadn’t been off hormones since I was a teenager, I was worried those things would come back. From that book, though I learned that incredibly heavy periods are sometimes common for teenagers due to hormone fluctuations and usually go away in the 20s, so I was hoping that’d be the case for me.
**Copper IUD Consultation & Insertion:*\*
I began taking magnesium glycinate and zinc supplements about 3 weeks before insertion because research suggests they prevent cramps, acne, heavy periods, and just aid in coming off HBC in general.
I then went to my gyno to ask for the Copper IUD and she tried talking me into Mirena…. I explained I had the Mirena before and did not like it and wanted to try something without hormones.
My doctor listed all the side effects of Paragard to make sure I knew them and was still interested — when I said I was, she approved it. They had to order it for me, so my insertion appointment was a few weeks later — they didn’t keep the Paragard in stock because apparently, not many people want it? LOL
I’ve never been pregnant, so I was mentally preparing for a painful insertion.
I happened to get my Paragard placed on the same day I was scheduled to remove my ring for the withdrawal bleed week.
I took 800mg ibuprofen 1-2 hrs before the insertion. The doctor started with a transvaginal ultrasound and took photos of the ultrasound for my records. I think this was to see the angle of my uterus and make sure my uterus was normal shape (not 100% sure).
The insertion itself was l like a really intense cramp for 30 seconds. The weird part — that I didn’t know was going to happen — was I could heafeel the iud open inside me. Like the coil part made a spring sound when it came out of the insertion tube lol. Overall though, the insertion itself was not nearly as bad as I expected. I just took deep breaths and was okay.
She then did a second transvaginal ultrasound to ensure the IUD placement was correctly placed and saved it to my records. I scheduled a 4-week follow-up appointment and was on my way.
Although the insertion itself was a quick intense pain, that was over fast, the next few hours were the rough partI drove myself the 20 minutes home and definitely regret that because on the drive I suddenly started to feel nauseous, lightheaded, dizzy, and sweaty. I definitely recommend getting someone to drive you home because you don’t know how you’ll be post-insertion. (When I got the mirena iud, I went straight to work an 8hr shift and was fine. The paragard was not as easy and it was dangerous driving myself home tbh).
Cramping was really bad for about 5 hours, but I just laid in bed with a heating pad and slowly got better. That being said, after 5 hours I felt WAY better and went to bed that night feeling very little cramping and not needing to take ibuprofen.
The next day I was completely fine and had very little cramping. I honestly think the little cramping I had at this point was from removing the ring because that’s normal for me when I would remove it for the withdrawal week.
**Coming off hormones symptoms/ post copper IUD insertion:**\*
(2 days later) I had weird stringy brown clumps in my discharge and then started my withdrawal bleed from the ring. My withdrawal bleed week went pretty normal.
(1-2 weeks later) I had intense headaches which I think were related to coming off hormones — they only lasted a week or two. I also had an insane amount of cleawhite discharge, it sometimes felt like I had peed a little lol. I think this was my first ovulation/fertile cervical mucus that I’d had since I was a teen.
(3 weeks later) Light cramps, brown discharge (spotting)*(4 weeks later)* I was bloated and spotting more of a true red vs brown. I also got stronger cramps, but just took ibuprofen and was fine. Soon after these symptoms, I started my first real period. It was a little heavier than my withdrawal “period” when I was on HBC, but it wasn’t bad at all compared to the periods from hell that I had as a teen.
**PMS/Periods Now:*\*
My whole life even while on HBC, I was never one to get PMS of any kind other than very light cramps. But now (4 months after stopping HBC and switching to the copper IUD) I can always tell when my period is a few days away because I get light acne, very bloated, easily upset/angry, and pretty crampy.
So far, I’ve only had one period that was very crampy and so painful that I couldn’t stand for a couple hours lol and it was my most recent cycle. I had stopped taking the zinc and magnesium supplements that are recommended in The Period Manual, so I think that may have been the reason. I definitely will be back on my supplement game this month.
Overall now my periods are always 4-5 days total. Day one is so light it’s basically just spotting. Day 2 is heavy— have to change my tampon or pad at least once every 4 hours to avoid leaks (still lighter than the periods from hell when I was a teenager though lol, so to me it’s manageable). Day 3 regular flow. 4/5 light flow.
**Other things I’ve noticed since coming off HBC:*\*
  1. I smell…. Different? Like my sweat smells different. It’s weird but I don’t stink as bad anymore. Even my husband has pointed out that I have been “smelling so good recently” and I didn’t change any soaps or perfume or anything.
  2. My libido increased majorrr!! I legit thought for these past few years that I wasn’t attracted to my husband or something because I never wanted to even be touched and never got wet when he tried. It was really hurting our relationship. But man, things have CHANGED. I feel like a teenager again I’m so easily turned on.
  3. The acne that I had as a teenager did NOT come back. I broke out a little for the first month or two off HBC but it was a piece of cake. Now I only get 2-3 small pimples around the time of my period.
**Conclusion:*\*
Overall, so far the copper IUD insertion was worth the temporary pain and trouble. I’m feeling so much happier off hormones and my relationship with my husband is so much better now that we have a sex life again haha. If you choose to switch to the copper IUD, I def recommend reading The Period Manual prior to getting it to prepare for coming off hormones and knowing what supplements to take to minimize cramping, acne, PMS, etc.
Anyways, I’m an open book. Please let me know if you have any questions about my experience!

Hundreds of White women gather at Colorado Capitol after plea from women of color to use their ‘privilege’ to demand action on gun violence

Protesters stage a sit-in at the Capitol building in Denver.
Hundreds of White women gathered at the Colorado Capitol Monday morning, with more expected to show up throughout the day, to use their “privilege” in a silent sit-in to demand Gov. Jared Polis ban guns and create a gun buyback program.
The sit-in also comes amid a national debate over gun control and nearly two months after Polis signed into law four gun control bills, including one to expand the state’s red flag law.
Protesters gather in Denver to call for strict gun laws.
Here4TheKids, a movement created after a mass shooting in Nashville in March left six people dead, including three children, calls for primarily White women to peacefully sit-in until Polis, a Democrat, signs an executive order banning guns. It was founded by two women of color, Saira Rao, who is South Asian American, and Tina Strawn, who is Black. Both are mothers.
Strawn told CNN the movement calls for White women to be at the forefront of the sit-in because, “we know what happens when we show up with demands.”
“We know what happens when we show up in large numbers to fight for our rights. We’ve been doing it for generations. We’re always the ones whose bodies are in the most danger and at the most risk,” Strawn, an author and owner of the “Speaking of Racism” podcast said.
“So, it appealed to me very much that this was actually a time where we are asking Black folks and other marginalized and vulnerable communities to sit this one out and allow the White women and their privileged bodies, their privilege, and their power to show up. It’s time for them to show up,” Strawn added.
The movement has garnered support from the entertainment industry, including from White actresses Amy Schumer, Michaela Watkins and Lake Bell.
Watkins, who showed up at the Colorado Capitol early Monday morning and plans to stay until late in the evening, told CNN her initial response to the call to action for mainly White women to participate was, “What? Just White women? That sounds just exclusive,” but she understood what the founders meant.
“White women, statistically, have been the least likely to be arrested, assaulted by police officers and so we just said, ‘OK.’ If marginalized communities have been just traumatized over and over and over again I guess we just come together,” Watkins told CNN as cars drove by and honked in support of the protest. “We are the biggest voting block in this country. We do have power, we just forget that and we have been conditioned to forget that.”
She also said, “For me, it was very confronting, it was like, ‘I am an activist, but am I really willing to put myself on the line?’” when asked what was her response to other White women who feel uncomfortable with the movement.
“If someone says, ‘I don’t understand why I have to be there,’ they don’t have to be here. But if you feel you are over it, over this incredible horror that we are facing, literally every single day, then you should come here.”

‘This is apolitical, it affects everyone’

There have been at least 276 mass shootings in the US this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which defines a mass shooting as one in which at least four people are shot, excluding the shooter. Colorado has suffered several mass shootings since the deadly Columbine High School shooting in 1999, including a shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs in November.
In 2021, firearms accounted for nearly 19% of deaths for those aged 1-18, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Wonder database, and nearly 3,600 children died in gun-related incidents that year. The gun violence, particularly school shootings, has Wolf Terry, a volunteer with the movement who is also White, nervous for her five-year-old, who is autistic.
“If my child is even in a lockdown drill he will not be able to stomach it, to handle it, to participate in it without having a meltdown,” Terry, told CNN. “If there was an active shooter at his school he would be the first to be shot alongside his classmates because he would be loud and he’d be scared and he wouldn’t be able to control his response to the situation. And so every day, that’s what sticks with me … this is apolitical, it affects everyone.”
The executive order Here4TheKids has proposed for Polis to sign calls for the governor to “ban the use, loading, possession or carrying of all firearms in Colorado, including but not limited to firearms for personal protection, hunting, law enforcement or any otherwise lawful purpose” and create a statewide gun buyback program.
A spokesperson for Polis said the governor’s staff has met with the organizers of the group and “have expressed concerns that the requests being made are either unconstitutional or require legislative action.”
“The Governor takes the weighty responsibility of executive action and the trust Coloradans placed in him to govern responsibly seriously, and will not issue an unconstitutional order that will be struck down in court simply to make a public relations statement – he will continue to focus on real solutions to help make Colorado one of the ten safest states,” the spokesperson said in a statement to CNN. “These individuals’ calls to improve safety and prevent gun violence through their specific requests for an executive order banning all guns would simply be unconstitutional.”
Both Rao and Strawn said lawmakers have failed to curb gun violence and when asked if the new gun control laws in Colorado were a start, Rao said “no” because despite current state laws aimed to prevent them, gun deaths still persist.
“State legislation does not work. Why? Because guns can cross state lines, you can print guns on 3D printers,” Rao said. “State legislation is not working. It’s just not working, it doesn’t matter what it is.”
