Hi Reddit šŸ‘‹
You may have noticed that at the beginning of the year, we started producing a monthly podcast focusing on how Reddit works internally. It’s called Building Reddit! If you haven’t listened yet, check it out on all the podcasting platforms (Apple, Spotify, etc.) and on YouTube.
Today, I wanted to give you some insight into how the podcast came together. No, this isn’t a podcast about a podcast. That would open a wormhole to another dimension. Instead, I’ll walk you through how Building Reddit came to be and what it looks like to put together an episode.

The Road to Building Reddit

Before I started working here, Reddit had experimented with podcasts a few times. These were all produced for employees and only released internally. There has been a lot of interest in an official podcast from Reddit, especially an Engineering one, for some time.
I knew none of this when I started at the company. But as I learned more about how Reddit worked, the idea for an engineering podcast started to form in my brain. The company already had a fantastic engineering blog with many talented employees talking about how they built stuff, so an audio version seemed like a great companion.
So, last fall, for our biannual engineering free-for-all Snoosweek, I put together a proof of concept for an engineering podcast. Thankfully, I work on a very cool project, Developer Platform, so I just interviewed members of my team. What I hadn’t anticipated was having 13 hours of raw audio that needed to be edited down to an hour-long episode… within two days. In the end, it came together and I shared it with the company.

The original cover image. Thanks to Knut!
Enter the Reddit Engineering Branding Team (the kind souls who make this blog run and who organize Snoosweek). Lisa, Chief of Staff to the CTO, contacted me and we started putting together ideas for a regular podcast. The goal: Show the world how Reddit builds things. In addition to Lisa and the Engineering Branding Team, we joined forces with Nick, a Senior Communications Associate, who helped us perfect the messaging and tone for the podcast.
In December, we decided on three episodes to launch with: fixthevideoplayer, [email protected]: Engineering Manager, and Reddit Recap. We drew up outlines for each episode and identified the employees to interview.
While the audio was being put together for those episodes, Nick connected us to OrangeRed, the amazing branding team at Reddit. They worked with us to create the cover image, visual assets, and fancy motion graphics for the podcast visualization videos. OrangeRed even helped pick out the perfect background music!
Producing three episodes at once was a tall order, but all three debuted on Feb. 7th. Since then, we’ve kept up a monthly cadence for the podcast. The first Tuesday of every month is our target to release new episodes.

A Day In The Life of an Episode

So how does an episode of the podcast actually come together? I break it down into five steps: Ideation, Planning, Recording, Editing, Review.
Building Reddit episode calendar
Ideation is where someone has an idea for an episode. This could be based on a new feature, focusing on a person or role for a [email protected] episode, or a technical/cultural topic. Some of these ideas I come up with myself, but more often they come from others on the Reddit Engineering Branding team. As ideas come up, we add them to a list, usually at the end unless there’s some time element to it (for example the Security Incident episode that comes out tomorrow!). As of right now, we have over 30 episode ideas on the list! For ideas higher on the list, we assign a date for when the episode would be published. This helps us make sure we’re balancing the types of episodes too.
A podcast episode outline
When an episode is getting close to publication, usually a month or two in advance, I create an outline document to help me plan the episode. Jameson, a Principal Engineer, developed the template for the outline for the first episode. The things I put in there are who I could talk to, what their job functions are (I try to get a mix of engineering, product, design, comms, marketing, etc), and a high-level description of the episode. From there, I’ll do some research on the topic from external comms or internal documents, and then build a rough outline of the kinds of topics I want to talk about. These will be broken down further into questions for each person I’ll be interviewing. I also try to tell some type of story with each episode, so it makes sense as you listen to it. That’s usually why I interview product managers first on feature episodes (eg. Reddit Recap, Collectible Avatars). They’re usually good about giving some background to the feature and explaining the reasoning behind why Reddit wanted to build it.
The tools of the trade
I reach out to the interviewees over Slack to make sure they want to be interviewed and to provide some prep information. Then I schedule an hour-long meeting for each person to do the interview over Zoom. Recording over Zoom works quite well because you can configure it to record each person’s audio separately. This is essential to being able to mix the audio. Also, it’s very important that each person wears headphones, so their microphone doesn’t pick up the audio from my voice (or try to noise cancel it which reduces the audio quality). The recording sessions are usually pretty straightforward. I run through the questions I’ve prepared and occasionally ask follow-ups or clarifying questions if I’m curious about something. Usually, I can get everything I need from each person in one session, but occasionally I’ll go back and ask more questions.
Editing a podcast in Adobe Audition
Once all the audio is recorded, it’s time to shut my office door and do some editing. First I go through each person’s interview and clean it up, removing any comments or noises around their audio. As I do this, I’ll work on the script for my parts between the interviewee’s audio. Sometimes these are just the questions that I asked the person, but often I’ll try to add something to it so it flows better. Once I’ve finished cleaning up and sequencing the interviewee audio, I work on my script a little more and then record all of my parts.
Two views of my office with all the sound blankets up. Reverb be gone!
As you can see in the photo of my office above, I hang large sound blankets to remove as much reverb as I can. If I don’t put these up, it would sound like I was in an empty room with lots of echo. When I record my parts, I always stand up. This gives my voice a little more energy and somehow just sounds better than sitting. Once my audio is complete, I edit those parts in with the other audio, add the intro/outro music, and do some final level adjustments for each part. It’s important to make sure that everyone’s voices are at about the same level.
Sharing the podcast over Slack
Although I listen to each mixed episode closely, getting feedback and review from others is essential. I try to get the first mix completed a week or two before the publication date to allow for people to review it and for me to incorporate any feedback. I always send it to the interviewees beforehand, so they can hear it before the rest of the world does.

Putting it All Together

Creating the podcast video. *No doges were harmed
So, we have a finished episode. Now what? The next thing I do is to take the audio and render a video file from it. OrangeRed made a wonderful template that I can just plug the audio into (and change the title text). Then the viewer is treated to some meme-y visuals while they listen to the podcast.
I upload the video file to our YouTube channel, and also to our Spotify for Podcasters portal (formerly Anchor.fm). Spotify for Podcasters handles the podcast distribution, so uploading it to that will also publish it out to all the various podcast platforms (this had to be set up manually in the beginning, but is automatic after that). Some platforms support video podcasts, which is why I use the video file. Spotify extracts the audio and distributes that to platforms that don’t support video.
The last step after uploading and scheduling the episode is to write up and schedule a quick post for this community (example). And then I can sit back and… get ready for next month’s episode! It’s always nice to see an episode out the door, and everyone at Reddit is incredibly supportive of the podcast!
So what do you think? Does it sound cool to build Building Reddit? If so, check out the open positions on our careers page.
And be on the lookout for our new episode tomorrow. Thanks for listening (reading)!

2023.06.05 15:59 Muffin_snake Recommendations and tip on how to deal with an aggravating gluttonous cat

I adopted my cat from the shelter last September at 5 months old. She’s now a year and 2 months old. When I first adopted her, I fed her three times a day (1/2 tin tiki cats for breakfast, some dry instinct for lunch and 1/2 tin wet food for dinner). She started to get fat so I reduced her meals and now only feed her one tin in the morning and one tin at night (no lunch).
When I adopted her she never begged for food or showed interest in our food during mealtimes, but my husband has a bad habit of leaving his plate on the table after he’s finished eating to lay down and watch tv and a few months ago he left a piece of salmon in his plate and she she jumped up, ate the salmon and the begging never stopped.
We always push her off the table if she jumps up, and I’ve locked her in the bedroom a couple of times or if we’re eating and we see her coming close to our feet, we get the broom to shoo her away. I’ve fought with my husband over this because he’s to blame for the first salmon incident, but he has been taking his dishes to the sink straight after eating and getting better at not leaving it on the table.
It’s been months and the begging now aggravates me, because it’s everytime I step into the kitchen she follows by my feet and begs and i step on her almost all the time (not on purpose), because I’m not looking at the ground to see what’s there while I’m cooking. She would leave whatever she’s doing and run to the kitchen if anyone goes in there and start meowing. I even have to lock her in the bathroom while I’m dishing out her food, because she stands up at the counters, meowing incessantly until you put her food down and then eats like a pig inhaling everything quickly as if she hasn’t eaten in days.
It’s really starting to aggravate me and I can’t help it because now all I see is a fat, glutton cat that makes noise when she runs.
Help me please! Any recommendations would be fine.

2023.06.05 15:50 EmotionalFroyo15 Regurgitation

So my cat has been regurgitating her dry food once a day, every day. It’s always after she wakes up from her afternoon nappies, and I’m fairly sure it’s because she is eating too fast after sleeping while we are gone for work. I’ve watched her scarf down mouthfuls and take in a bunch of air while doing so and then immediately spit it up.
I did contact my vet to get some insight about whether I need to bring her in, but they just saw her a month ago and her physical exam and blood work were both clear. She also is behaving normally (e.g., playing, bathroom, coming out for pets). I have been trying to spread her food out on a 13x9 cookie sheet but she just pushes it into the corners so she can scarf it down šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø
-Pet Info- Age: 5 or 6 Breed: domestic shorthair Status: spayed Dry food: Purina Pro Plan sensitive skin and stomach, lamb and rice Wet food: Soulistic beef/lamb gravy Other relevant info: adopted her a month ago from family member, she did not eat for the first 5 days we had her so she was given 2 doses of appetite stimulant. We also were told to change her food (I don’t remember what she was eating before but it wasn’t great), hence the Purina.

2023.06.05 15:47 BhodiandUncleBen Stressed vs. Non-Stressed San Pedro (Bridgesii)

A case study:
Tested: Two SS02 x Baker cv from the same clone. Cultivar: Sacred Succulents 02 Bridgesii Jim Baker 5452 Bridgesii
Both cacti were grown in the same pot their entire lives and came from the same clone. This is to reduce any variables that might affect potency. Both cactus were 2 years old and grown in the Eastern United States. I sent .05g of dried cactus powder of each cactus to https://altitudeconsultingllc.com for testing. Great vendor they turned around results in less than 48 hours.
Processing: Both cactus were de-spined and had their outer skin removed. Then cut into small pieces and placed in a food dehydrator for 24 hours. I then took a coffee grinder and grinded them down to a fine powder. After that 0.5grams of each powder was sent to be individually tested by a professional lab using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
Stressed Cactus: Length: 18.5ā€ Width: 2ā€ Wet Weight: 590 grams. Dried Powder = 16.7g This cactus was 2 years old and stressed for 7 months by placing it in a dark closet after cutting it.
STRESSED RESULT: 2.66% mescaline hydrochloride or 26.6mg/g of mescaline HCL
Non- Stressed Cactus: Length: 18.5ā€ Width: 2ā€ Wet Weight: 663 grams. Dried Powder = 20.63g This cactus was also 2 years old it was cut and processed into powder within 36 hours of cutting it. NON- STRESSED RESULT: 2.47% mescaline hydrochloride or 24.7 mg/g of mescaline HCL
Only a very small .19% difference in potency.
Example: if I used say 20 grams from each for a dose the final mescaline content would only be 38mg difference STRESSED:26.6mg/g x 20 grams = 532mg mesc
NON-STRESSED: 24.7mg/g x 20 grams = 494mg mesc.
Conclusion: it does not seem worth it to take the time to stress a cactus. Let me know your thoughts and if there are any other subs that would ALLOW and want this information.
See lab results in images attached.

2023.06.05 15:37 aclhiker8 Cat crawled up into a ceiling and is hiding.

Hello.
I just moved my cat who is just over three years old to a new apartment for the first time in his life. I knew it would cause him some stress and I did my best to make it as easy as possible for him. However, as I expected, he has spent most of his 14ish hours here hiding. He did eat a little when he got here and there are paw prints in his litter box.
We shut him in our bedroom with us for the first night. When we woke up we could see him poking his little head out from the top shelf of the closet. My boyfriend got up to scritch him and he jumped up into a hole in the ceiling of our closet!
Now before we moved we looked the place over and swore we had cat proofed it. This hole was shielded by a square of plywood tacked to the ceiling. It appears to have been the product of some very shoddy plumbing work. The holes aren't cut at all with a drywall saw but instead appeared to have been bashed out with hammers. Anyway this tacked piece of plywood wasn't secured and my cat moved it. He came out of the hole pretty quickly the first time and I grabbed him and took him out while my boyfriend reset the plywood. Well he moved it again and this time its been over an hour and he won't come out. We know he's in there cause he poked his head out for a second but we haven't seen him since.
Ive tried shaking his dry food bag, clicking wet food cans, and softly calling his name. He's usually very very food oriented. My boyfriends run to our old place to get the last of our boxes which have more of his "prey" toys (like birdy on a string) and catnip, another thing he goes nuts for.
Anyway I am freaking the eff out and so is my boyfriend. Hes never been able to get into a space like this before. We have NO clue where this space goes, how big it is, etc. Its just the ceiling of our closet. What I do know is that he did get in and out of it before on his own. Idk how far in he is or anything.
Right now I have a freshly cracked can of wet food sitting in the closet waiting for him to come out.
I feel like my brain is going to explode please give me your best advise. I wanna cry right now 😫

2023.06.05 15:20 CaspianX2 PowerWash Simulator for Nintendo Switch - Review

PowerWash Simulator

Genre: First-Person Shooter / Simulation
Players: 1-6 Co-Op (Online)
.
Review:
PowerWash Simulator, released on PC and Xbox One in 2022 and ported to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in 2023, is a game that mixes First-Person Shooter and Simulation elements to deliver an experience exactly like what the title says. Players are presented with various vehicles and environments covered with dirt and grime, and must use their high-powered cleaning equipment to clean it off.
The presentation here is very good, with pretty detailed 3D objects and really excellent textures that do a good job conveying how wet they are when you spray them. And while I feel like this game could have gone even farther with its visuals to show water runoff or to show water deflecting off of surfaces, what’s here is still quite excellent.
When it comes to sound, pretty much all you’ll be hearing here is the constant white noise of the spraying water, varying in pitch based on what you’re spraying with it, with the only other sound being the pinging of your phone as you receive texts regarding other jobs as they become available to you. There’s no music to speak of here, no environment noises, nothing to break the monotony of sound, for better or worse.
As for the gameplay, you’re really just moving around in first-person spraying things with water until they’re clean. You can select nozzles with different widths, with more focused nozzles better able to get out stains but wider ones covering a larger area, and you can change their orientation from horizontal to vertical, or change their angle to get to hard-to-reach places. Over time you’ll get access to new cleaning equipment, as well as soaps to make you more effective at cleaning specific surfaces, but you’ll pretty much still be doing the same basic thing.
When it comes to that basic gameplay, there’s very little to the gameplay here beyond the simple act of cleaning. You’re not building up a business, not competing to get the best time or most efficient use of water (though there are additional game modes where you can do so). There aren’t areas that need to stay dry and you’re penalized for hitting with your spray, nor any limit to what you’re doing. Sometimes it can be a challenge to find the right angle, or to find a way to jump up to where you can spray on a roof or something like that, but you’re given an unlimited amount of time to figure it out. And if you’re ever unsure where you still need to clean, you have a button that will highlight the dirt, a readout showing how clean the surface you’re targeting is, and a menu listing all the things still needing to be cleaned. And if you want things to go more quickly, you can also play in online co-op, where you can clean together with others.
Having said that, for the most part the only ā€œgameā€ here is... continuing to clean until you get everything done, then moving on to the next job. And because of this lack of significant goal structure, this isn’t going to be a game for everyone. However, there’s something almost meditative about the process of systematically cleaning everything in the game, and something satisfying when you get a ā€œtingā€ and the thing you’re currently cleaning flashes to let you know it’s complete.
A few more things I should note before wrapping up this review. PowerWash Simulator makes use of neither the touchscreen nor gyroscopic motion controls, and the game’s load times are somewhat long, meaning that this game doesn’t especially excel on the Nintendo Switch, even if otherwise it looks and plays fine. Also, the menus annoyingly have you moving around a cursor with the analog stick rather than selecting menu options directly. It certainly seems like there could have been better optimization in this regard.
Overall, if ever there were a game that would speak to your ā€œinner OCDā€, PowerWash Simulator is it. And while it feels like there definitely could be more here, and there are certainly areas that could be improved on, what is here is surprisingly compelling, and can easily suck you into hours of slowly, methodically cleaning everything around you. Which is enjoyable, sure, but it also makes me look up from the game to my less-than-perfectly-clean real-life house and wonder if perhaps I could be making better use of my time.
tl;dr – PowerWash Simulator is a game that mixes First-Person Shooter and Simulation elements where players use high-powered cleaning equipment to clean off various vehicles and environments. This game could benefit from more structured goals, the loading times are a bit much, and the menu interface is pretty terrible, but while this game definitely has room for improvement, it still makes for a surprisingly compelling, almost meditative experience. This game won’t be for everyone, but some players will find this to be surprisingly compelling.

2023.06.05 15:07 bxthxnymxrxxh Boyfriend wont take kitten’s ringworm seriously. Am I really psychotic?

Last week we took in a nearly 6 m/o kitten. I wanted to keep kitten in the bathroom until medically cleared by the vet, especially bc I have a senior resident cat. He would only be in the bathroom for 4 days. My bf badgered & guilt tripped me into letting the kitten explore supervised. He said it was cruel of me to keep him locked in the bathroom. He made me feel awful & wouldn’t leave me alone about it, so I caved.
Fast forward a few days, kitten visits the vet and it is discovered he has ringworm. Culture is still pending, but his hairless patches lit up under a blacklight. The vet advised me to treat it as if it is ringworm and informed me on what precautions I should take.
My bf insists ringworm is not a big deal at all. He was a wrestler and said he had it many times. Nevertheless, I am not okay with catching it. I am not okay with having my resident cat catch it. I want this done and over with as quickly as possible. I do not want to raise the kitten in quarantine longer than I have to.
I obviously was very upset as I am now needing to decontaminate my entire home including unfinished hardwood floors. I was told I will most likely need to throw away the expensive cat tower I got for my resident cat’s 10th birthday (not even a year ago.) I decided that my resident cat needed to quarantine as well until I could disinfect the floors.
He thinks all of the precautions I am taking are ā€œstupid and a waste of time.ā€ He thinks I am ā€œcrazyā€ and ā€œno one else would ever go to the extent that I am in order to combat this fungus.ā€
Despite his criticism, I spent the entire weekend working my tail off to go in the proper order disinfecting the floors. My order of cleaning the floors was: vacuum, swiffer wet-jet, sanitize with Zep fungicide & rinse with Castile soap to protect the cats respiratory health.
I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, so this entire process has resulted in my body taking a massive beating. I have been struggling with mild/moderate contamination OCD ever since my mother passed away nearly a year ago. With that being said, ringworm has been quite distressing, but I am doing better than I thought I would to think and cope with wise mind.
Yesterday, he exited the infected area and walked on the decontaminated area as I was about to do the final step of rinsing with Castile soap. At this point my body is in excruciating pain. The thought of having to disinfect again pushed me beyond my tolerance threshold. I admittedly snapped. I flipped the bucket of Castile soap water and just screamed. I broke down crying in defeat. I worked SO hard all weekend. I received little to no help in cleaning. In fact, he has only made more work for me as I tried staying on top of him to not cross contaminate the parts of the house I already disinfected. I had to beg him to change his clothes, wear gloves, keep his phone out of the contaminated area, etc.
Me breaking down resulted in him screaming at me and breaking the o’cedar mop. He said he refuses to ā€œfollow my rulesā€ and ā€œhe’s not going to live like this.ā€ I am making him ā€œmiserable.ā€ He kept repeating ā€œit’s (ringworm) not realā€ and I am ā€œabsolutely psychotic.ā€
Am I really psychotic? Am I overdoing this? Any feedback would be appreciated. I don’t have anyone I can talk to about this, so if you read all of this: thank you.

2023.06.05 15:05 uhlyst Time to potty train & I'm frozen. Help.

This just feels so bizarre. I spoke to his pediatrician this morning & was told to ensure he has no less than 5 wet diapers a day, otherwise it's no concern.
TLDR: My 19-month-old has shown signs of readiness for potty training. He is now occasionally making it through the night with a dry diaper, which baffles me as it seems rather early for that sort of development. I don't know where to start or how to encourage communication regarding the potty. Please guide me as I'm letting uncertainty shake me a bit & find most articles online/papers from his doctor sort of vague or maybe "advanced" for my son...but worry I am underestimating him.
My son is 19-months-old. He sleeps without waking most nights reliably. If he does wake during the night, it is due to a wet diaper or needing his sippy refilled. It is also normal for him to refuse sleeping if he has to poop...we will put him to bed, but he will whine/fuss--once we take him from his bed, he will play for maybe 15-20 minutes until he poops. After that, he will go right to sleep.
Over the last 2 weeks, my son has started to wake up dry after sleeping through the night. It has happened 3 (maybe 4?) times. He is also going longer stretches during the day with a dry diaper. He will come to us when he poops or he will go directly to the diaper drawer & pull out a diaper.
So, I guess I'm just wondering how to approach potty training with him? It is daunting. I've already ordered him a potty chair that resembles our toilet, but I'm looking for tips/tricks/guidance on how to introduce it to him & encourage more communication regarding the potty/pee/poop. My son knows 19 words, but he's not a big talker. He doesn't use all 19 words regularly, he has 5-6 words he uses daily. He doesn't come to us & say anything when he is dirty, he will just fuss a bit and/or touch at his diaper. He is still doing quite a bit of babbling.
He often comes into the bathroom when I am using it & I routinely explain to him what I am doing in simple forms. I've also allowed him to help me flush from time to time. What else should I be doing? It seems clear to me that he's ready to start potty training, but I feel clueless & kind of scared, to be honest.

I noticed some spray sealants description don't mention if they can used on wet surface so I was wondering if these ones are OK to be used as drying aid also.

2023.06.05 14:48 CitraDoshii Will cat refuse wet food after not having it for a while?

So I feed My cat a mix of wet and dry food but mainly wet food [2 pouch a day and some dry food] He will eat all of his dry food but usually leaves a bit of wet food, which is fine by me. The problem is now that it's getting hot my house is heating up [don't have home air conditioning here] and when he doesn't finish the wet food it dries all up and many flies appear.
I can't clean the bowl right after he's done because I can only feed him right before I leave for work. I'm thinking of just going with dry food for the summer to avoid maggots and him eating potentially dangerous stuff in his food but I'm worried he might refuse to eat wet food again when summer is done.
Has anyone had an experience like this where your cat will not go back to wet food and is there a way to get him to eat it again if it does happen?

2023.06.05 14:04 Reasonable_Cup7639 Top 5 Things to Consider When Configuring Your Drying Oven

Top 5 Things to Consider When Configuring Your Drying Oven
Drying broilers are a typical gear in a wide assortment of ventures and examination research centers. These hardware are utilized for various undertakings cleansing, temperature testing, vanishing, and establishing brooding temperature-touchy conditions. These cycles, notwithstanding, require controlled warming and uniform temperature. You can find industrial drying ovens in various arrangements and plans, for example, group stoves, vertical stoves or rotational stoves, and so on.
Anyway, what sort of stove do you decide for your interaction? This post will help you pick and design your drying stove, the most appropriate to your requirements.
What to Think about Prior to Purchasing a Drying Broiler for Your Office?
There are sure things that you should keep to yourself before you select the right drying broiler for your interaction. Allow us to check out them in a word.
Decide the Application: The most vital move towards arranging the broiler is deciding its application. The extent of warming applications is immense. The drying broiler is normally utilized for the accompanying:
  • Paint Restoring
  • Polymer Restoring
  • Cement Restoring
  • Item Drying
Moreover, you should think about the climate, where the stove will be utilized. On the off chance that you are involving it in a research center, you can select a little broiler, which has a capacity to deliver test results.
Technique for Warming: Likewise with most modern warming broilers, the drying stoves are additionally planned use infrared warming or convection-style warming or a blend of both - for drying an item.
An infrared warmer dries the item utilizing an emanating heat, while convection radiator warms the item utilizing a hot air.
Convection broilers are intended to keep up with homogenous intensity dispersion, as well as even wind stream in the inward chamber. These stoves are appropriate for complex-molded items, because of their capacity of uniform warming.
Infrared warming broilers are intended to give heat in determined sums to a specific point. Essentially, these stoves are intended to give view warming, and that implies they convey intensity to the item surface in direct view.

Cross-breed frameworks consolidate both - convection and IR warming. Today, these frameworks are liked for an enormous number of warming cycles, because of their higher drying capacities.
Subsequently, it is critical to dissect, whether the item will require infrared warming, convection-style warming, or a blend of both.
Heat-up Rates: A drying broiler ought to be fit for warming a material or a section to the ideal temperature in a particular time period. Despite the fact that, the stove's warming ability may be sound, still there are a few different variables that should be thought about. They include:
Size and state of the material
Heading and speed of the convicted air will influence the outer layer of the material
Warm conductivity of the material viable
Warming Sources: Drying broilers use different warming sources. They incorporate the accompanying:
  • Steam
  • Flammable gas
  • LPG
  • Electric
  • Fuel Oil
Other Fuel Combinations
It is vital to comprehend the advantages of every one of these warming sources, and their impact on your cycle.
Broiler Development: A very much built stove is dependably a resource for any office. It limits the intensity of misfortune in the working climate. Here are a few significant qualities to look while choosing your stove:
  • Protection that limits heat misfortune
  • Substantial entryway framework giving a tight fixing
  • Industry-standard and pertinent controls
  • Substantial outside development, with a scratch-safe paint
Moreover, there are a few different variables that you should think about, for example, the most extreme working temperature, kind of material to be dried in the broiler, greatest load to be dried in 60 minutes, and so on. After these contemplations, you should move toward a solid maker. Pass System Supply is one of the main makers of modern drying stoves in the India.

2023.06.05 13:38 SoftCreative3201 Wet Paint

Often times I walk,
Look around confused,
Trying to be distinct,
See the world in twos,
One part is dark and blue,
The other a whitened hue,
The dark makes sense,
It’s harmless and true,
Harmless because it’s unhinged in a way,
Something you can trust,
The whitened is tricky, scary to me,
Maybe so cause untainted repels ā€˜em blots,
Whether true or an illusion,
Or honest in assertion,
It brings up my cringe, insecurities duh,
And I recoil at its sight like a cat to a puddle,
Sometimes what I call confidence in the Ace,
Is a thin blotted veil hiding something obtuse?
Cowardly demeanor,
Self-defense endeavor,
It’s quite like a wall when it’s dripping with paint,
It gives off its essence with naught but a touch,
Blessing the world with color and light,
While losing its soul,
Every time that it does,
And nothing: I say,
Could ever be scarier,
If like me you were cursed,
To always be the wet paint.

2023.06.05 13:37 Dense_Transition_145 Am I balding/thinning at 15?

I've had thin hair and an double crown ever since I was young, 2 of my uncles are bald the rest have thin hair, both my parents have thin hair. In the last 6-12 months or so i've realized that my hair is becoming more thin and my double crown has formed into an big line. Whenever I try parting somewhere on my scalp it reveals an huge bald spot. I can cover up my scalp pretty good when its dry its just when its windy some of my scalp is shown, when its wet it looks very bad. Just recently (2 weeks ago ) i've started to use rosemary and lavender oil on my hair as well as an derma roller on my crown, Since it's been only 2 weeks I can't tell if it works. I am also considering changing my hairstyle to an buzz cut but i'm scared it'll reveal my crown more or reveal the thinning, should i grow my hair or buzz it. Also what products should I use on my hair other than what i'm using now.

2023.06.05 13:30 Trick-Example-8522 23 f - not diagnosed - may have vaginismus

Years ago I could insert my entire finger without even being wet and everything was fine , fast forward to a couple of years later I got a chemical burn from putting shaving cream on a slightly inflamed vagina , that literally changed everything from the colour to the shape of my inner lips , in addition they became so tender to touch especially when dry that I could literally jump from pain . now I can’t even find my vaginal opening as if it’s covered by a wall and trying to insert even a tip of a finger hurt and burn so much close to impossible even if I am fully aroused , I didn’t have sex yet but I could imagine how much it will hurt
Can this be vaginismus?

The written portions of the flight training were surprisingly easy; I had expected more of a challenge, honestly.
The way the Venlil set up their cockpits turned out to be pretty similar to some of the old space sims I’ve messed with so I got the button and function portions down pretty quickly. Although learning how to actually send and identify proper codes and requests was a lot more complicated than in the sims. It was mostly automated but by god there were still a lot of them. A day's study and another shot at it and I was qualified for the simulator training portion. Seems like most of the work is hands on, er paws on, in their case, which suited me just fine, always did learn better by doing.
Videk, my flight instructor, was pretty helpful, although a bit flighty. Any sudden movements or too loud of a voice and he was out the door as fast as it would open, bleating out something about ā€˜not letting it happen again.’ He should probably talk to someone.
Videk’s demeanor aside he’d cleared me for the sim training portion; if it’s anything like the written tests, it’ll be a piece of cake!

Oh yea, I’ve still got it.
Those written tests were too easy! Labeling parts, marking up maintenance procedures for errors, writing out steps for disassembly of standard ships systems… It was like being back in school, just with a little bit more on the line this time.
Even the practical portions were easy, tearing down mock drives and generators for routine maintenance work came and went within a paw!
Chris’ ability to just plow through a whole paw of study and testing was awe inspiring, if perhaps a little scary; the fact that a human could focus on one task for that long was almost haunting. After a claw or a claw and a half working on refresher packets, teardowns, and tests, I was spent and needed a break. Meanwhile the big Human would just keep reading away while jotting down notes on his pad.
Bamen, one of the station's engineers, had administered my review testing. He had seemed impressed, only having a pawful of comments and corrections. I made it on the fast track to the practical test with Chris in the simulator!
During university the sim trials were just to give you experience dealing with problems as they appeared on the fly, at least for the engineers. I wasn’t sure what Chris would have to deal with, but I was sure he could handle it.
If this goes as well as the sims in university we’ll be cleared in no time!

Humans, apparently, have a tendency to disrupt anything they touch. Not by intention, just by their very being and… temperament. It’s like the Protector-abandoned things enjoy danger, although I suppose it wouldn’t be much of a surprise.
The first simulator scenario went as expected, take off, fly straight and level on a predetermined course to another landing zone, land, done. The engineer was just there to monitor output, observe the standard gauges and gain familiarity with the space; not even any randomized failures. Easy! The Human managed the route just fine, albeit a bit fast for its first time behind the stick.
The second simulator scenario I put the Human and it’s Venlil ā€œcompanionā€ through what was meant to be a standard shuttle run between two stations, crossing a slow moving asteroid field. Get from point A to point B with the possibility of a random minor failure while also avoiding slowly moving predictable asteroids. Also easy!
The Human, on the other paw, seemed to think that simple task to be boring, considering its insistence on pushing the limits of the simulated shuttle to their break points.
Takeoff was fine. A bit rough but the Human was still learning, practice would eventually even that out.
First the simulated failure, the alarm for the drives reserve coolant reservoir fill sensor sounds off. Grating and attention grabbing, the engineer jumps on it immediately.
Good, quick reaction and diagnosis. I mark a note for review on my pad.
She’s quick and efficient, the problem is fixed nearly immediately and she’s already getting ready to top the tank back off.
Then I hear it. The simulated groan of the shuttles frame, protesting extreme maneuvers. A quick and repetitive boop-bwawp alarm sounds from the control console, signaling that the dampeners are nearing their limits. As I turn an eye to look at the cockpit and that Protector-abandoned Human I notice 4 things:
  1. It's weaving through the asteroids like there’s an entire flight of Arxur fighters gnashing at our tail.
  2. The throttle is pinned to its maximum setting.
  3. It is preparing to pull even harder into the next maneuver.
  4. It is laughing. A deep growling sound that sets my wool on end.
A flash of panic runs through me, memories and horrors I force back down. My instincts scream at me to bolt for the nearest exit, to get away from the feral predator. But something far more pressing roots me in place.
The tone of the alarm changes, informing us that the dampeners have been ā€˜overloaded’. I see it coming and I manage to brace, staying upright through the crushing weight. The engineer, on the other paw, is not so lucky. A crash and loud splash is followed by a long string of curses directed at the Human.
Protector help me.

Stars, I hate getting drive coolant out of my wool. What possessed that man to fly like that? It’s a shuttle sim, not a brahking fighter! I have half a mind to make him help me get this gunk brushed out later.
At the very least the sim training was going well, once Chris realized that the dampeners weren’t omnipotent, of course. The flight's simulated onboard failure had been pretty simple: one of the drive’s reserve coolant lines had come loose, just needed to re-attach the errant line and top off the tank. Unfortunately someone hadn’t thought that forcing the sim-rig through a [Human scale conversion: 15G] turn, overloading the dampeners by [Human scale conversion: 3G] was a generally poor decision and made me tumble tail over snout while holding an open bottle of coolant.
And it’s dried into my wool now, even better.

That was, in fact, not a piece of cake. Sure I was doing alright with flying and the sim was surprisingly similar to the ones I had played around with back home, although a fair bit more realistic. The ones at home didn’t use artificial gravity to simulate overloading your dampeners… dumping your engineer, and her payload, on the deck because of it.
Taisa’s still a bit upset about that one, I think. Luckily her wool is brown; if it was white or grey I think she’d be blue right now.
Otherwise I seemed to be doing well! Videk said he was ā€˜surprised a predator would take to something non violent so quickly’, granted that was between his panic attacks. Guy definitely needs to go talk to someone about that
Videk says he thinks another ā€˜paw’ or two of sim trials and we’ll be ready for the real deal!

Memory Transcription Subject: Videk, Venlil Flight instructor, Space Corps Veteran
Date [Standardized Human Time]: August 28th, 2136, Noon.

Three paws.
Three paws of terror and the unending scream of my instincts to flee every time that Protector-abandoned Human took the stick, moved too fast, laughed or spoke too loudly.
I was a member of the Corps! Now I'm a disgrace. A coward.
I stood snout to snout against the Arxur and lived, when my compatriots fell… when they were eaten… I escaped. I lived. Every rest it played through my mind: their screams, the Arxur’s bellowing grinding laughter, the revelry of their slaughter… the sound of their deaths. Sick, wet popping horror as they died, it was all I could do to run, to flee… to live.
And here I was, stuck in a shuttle sim with a predator for the third paw in a row, waiting to die. All because I thought the money was too good to turn down.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
Sure the Human hadn’t actually tried to do anything to me, sure the empathy tests painted a pretty picture but I knew. I’d seen the heart of their kind before and it was black as the night.
AND IT’S INSISTENCE ON MAKING EVERY ALARM IN THE SIMULATOR PROTEST IT’S EVERY ACTION DOESN’T BRAHKING HELP EITHER!!!
Every alarm on the console, engineering and pilot’s, was lit up like the stars. Alarms wailing and blasting their warnings into the cockpit. That Engineer scampered around every surface, paws like lightning fixing fault after failure, a shockingly calm display of her competence.
The Human, on the other paw, was bellowing out that laugh again, wild and feral, as it fought the stick to keep the sim on course and out of harm's way. Like it was doing everything in its power to assert its dominance over a simple machine.
It was all too much. Everything fell away, every crutch, every wall, every little method and action I used to keep myself together crumbled beneath the situation and the weight of them fell on me harder than any dampener failure.
Panicked and nearly feral bleats ripped themselves past my lips, the names of my old crew, the ones I had watched falter and die… the ones I had left behind. Pleas for safety, prayers to the Protector that I would survive again, begging the Human not to kill me. The alarms of the simulator kept trilling, beeping and screaming over me. The wails compounding in my mind, driving me further into my instincts. Further into the panic.
The alarms die out, the simulated groaning of the frame and that Human’s infernal laughter fall away, replaced by the hum of a functional shuttle. I am still trapped in my own mind, the horror anchoring me to the floor, the images and their screams still roaring behind my closed eyes. The simulator bounces lightly, signifying that the shuttle has landed, a soft chime indicating a successful completion, rings throughout the cabin.
A heavy footstep on my left, a soft tail touches me on my shoulder to the right, snapping me from my panic. The Human looms over me, staring down at me through that reflective visor, showing the sniveling, despicable, weak thing I’ve become. Cowering on the floor like an animal.
Death has finally come for me, bearing the visage of my shame, of my failures.

Videk was in rough shape, sobbing on the floor bleating about ā€˜Bidor, Heren, and Perets’ and how he’d failed them. Screaming that he’d be coming to join them in the Protector’s embrace, begging for safety.
I couldn’t just let the guy flounder, this was painful to watch. As much as Videk may not have liked me, I quite liked him! He reminded me of my Uncle when I was younger, minus the existential terror at my mere existence, of course; PTSD sucks in every race, I suppose. I don’t know what happened to him but it was obvious the man needed help, needed someone to at least talk to about whatever happened to him. But first he needed to not be on the floor.
I reached down, trying to gently pick him up by the shoulders and place him into one of the jump seats on the wall. He did not like that. A rain of kicks, claws and terrified bleats forced me to let go of him.
Taisa quickly bounded up beside me, speaking with concern in her voice, ā€œChris, I think he needs a bit to get himself together. Why don’t you go on ahead and get us a spot for Second-Meal, I’ll keep an eye on him.ā€
I nodded before stepping out, she was right, I wasn’t helping the situation. Hell, from the looks of things I’m pretty sure I was the situation. That hurt more than I thought it would. I didn’t like causing problems, especially not like that.

This was not the paw I had thought I would be having.
Videk was obviously having issues. If I had to guess it came from something that happened in the Corps, or he was just really afraid of Humans which certainly wouldn’t be surprising as a devotee of the protector.
I need to do something.
ā€œVidek,ā€ I beep, softly, getting the older Venlils attention, gently putting my tail back on his shoulder. ā€œIt’s alright, no-one's going to hurt you, you’re safe. Why don’t you sit down here and take a breather?ā€
I helped him stagger to his paws before he collapsed back into the folding seat mounted to the wall; his paws kneading into the sides of his legs as his ears swivel about erratically. He was still panicking, it seemed.
After several moments of slowly steadying his breathing he rasped his question, ā€œHow… How do you feel so safe around it? That protector-abandoned thing could snap at any second!ā€
I bite my tongue for a moment, keeping myself from saying anything too harsh, although I’m sure my lashing tail does more than enough to give my feelings away. ā€œI don’t think he has a harmful bone in his body. I’ve seen him put himself in harm's way to help others, heard him speak of peace, of phil-ā€œ
ā€œBut he’s a Predator!ā€ Videk cut me off, a crazed look in his eyes as his tail flailed about in confusion. ā€œAll he wants is to destroy! To consume! To kill! How can you even trust a being like that?ā€
Perhaps a different approach would work better, then. I let out a heavy sigh, sitting in the seat next to Videk, focusing my ears on him. ā€œChris is… complicated. I trust him because he’s one of the only people I’ve ever met that didn’t judge me immediately. That talked to me and actually listened. I trust him because he didn’t bolt. I trust him because I believe he, and the rest of his species with him, want to help, and want to be friends.ā€
Videk was quiet, he just stared at me. Guess I’ve got more to say then.
ā€œChris talks… a lot about a lot of things. One paw he wanted to talk about spirituality.ā€ I said, waving my paws in the air in front of me, mockingly gesturing to nothing in particular. ā€œNot necessarily Human spirituality as a whole, since apparently none of them seem able to agree on any of it, but his views on it, his spirituality, as he put it. He says that he ā€˜believes that the universe has a tendency to put people where they need to be, when they need to be there. Sometimes things fall through the cracks; you end up in the wrong place, at the wrong time and things don’t go well. But most of the time when you’re hurting, when you’re searching for something to reach out and hold on to, it’ll be there.ā€™ā€
His eyes searched me, looking for the lie that wasn't there, ā€œDo you believe that?ā€ He asked, voice small, his ears and kneading paws slowing down a little.
I thought for a moment. Did I? How could I not?
ā€œYes, yes I do. After all that’s happened in the last orbit… going from planting hundreds of seeds for jobs and having not a single one sprout, to talking with a predator over a chat app, to meeting him in person and then getting approval to not only start a job but to actually co-own the ship I would work on? All because I clicked the ad for the exchange program?ā€
I took in a breath, my tail setting itself in my lap as I thought about how quickly everything had changed.
Videk spoke up, still kneading at the sides of his legs, at least his ears had stopped and focused on me, that was an improvement. ā€œWhy are you telling me, then? What do you think I’m going to get from some Human’s philosophy?ā€
ā€œThat this happened for a reason. Maybe it was to show you that even at your lowest a Human won’t attack you. Maybe to show you that a Venlil and a ā€˜big scary predator’ can be friends. Or maybe it was to tell you that you should try. I’ve not been through what you have, but what I have been through wasn’t great. Chris, for all his scariness… he helps. Having someone I can talk to, that doesn’t judge, is a good feeling.ā€
ā€œSo you’re suggesting I talk with the Human about… what, life? About their favorite meats?!ā€ He sighed, his paws stopping.
I whistle in amusement, ā€œMaybe not him… ā€ That one's mine.
I was taken aback for a moment at the errant thought, before shaking my head and continuing.
ā€œBut the exchange program is still open, and actively looking for volunteers. There’s no requirement to meet your partner in person if you don’t feel comfortable with it. But having someone who’ll listen really does help. You don’t have to, but I think you should try, Videk. They might just surprise you.ā€
He seemed to genuinely think it over, his ears swiveling in thought as he put his paw to his chin. At least the panic seemed to have passed for now. ā€œI’ll… I’ll think about it. For now I need to review the logs from the simulator, you should catch up toā€¦ā€ He sighed before taking in a deep breath. ā€œChristopher.ā€
It wasn’t much but it was the start of progress. I hoped he did genuinely consider it, I didn’t know anything about his personal life but he seemed lonely. Talking about his problems or not, having someone to talk to that wasn’t a student would be good for him; and Humans loved to talk.
I stood, finding my way out of the door and off to the cafeteria to find Chris. After a full claw and a half of simulations, I was starving!

By the protector, that Human flew like a dayside wind. He’d broken half of the time records in the system for the final simulation! He hadn’t struck any debris and had maintained relative course control when the failures started piling up.
It- He passed. With flying colors at that! A lump stuck in my throat as I realized the next step of the flight training.
Oh protector I can’t be stuck in an actual shuttle with him for that long.
Then an idea, a plan, flashed through my mind. Remote training, the Human gets his stick time and all I have to do is monitor the shuttle from a comfy desk at home in Shadetree, answer any questions that might come up and keep tabs on their diagnostic reports. Easy, simple, safe.
I tapped away at my pad, sending a message to the both of them.
Congratulations, you’ve passed the simulator portion of your training regimen. You will begin on-stick flight training with remote monitoring next paw, at which time your assignment will be given to you. I will be getting the shuttle ready for your departure promptly.

2023.06.05 13:23 IAmNowMuslim Questions on cleanliness and prayers

Is it necessary for Muslim men to sit down when using the bathroom
On my first trip to a mosque, I put on the slippers that were in the dry bathroom, I used the restroom, washed my hands and I left. Nothing more. Later I went to the bathroom again and the floor was wet, as was the entire toilet seating area (under the seat you sit on). Someone sprayed it all down with the badet it seems. I thought the badet was for really using the bathroom, or for the women. Is it normal practice to spray down the restroom for the men after they pee in the mosque?
Must I recite the prayers out loud? I notice when I went to a mosque (only once) the imam(?) said it out loud, but the other brothers praying did it at their own speed and quietly. Is this different when you are in a home alone? What if Im using an application like Namaz to follow along? If im supposed to say them out loud while home alone, but im using an app to follow along while I learn the prayers, do I still say it out loud, or do I say it quietly since the app is leading prayer in a way?
How late can I say prayer? Lets say that Fajr is at 4:28am today and I wake up at 6am. Is it wrong to pray fajr? someone told me you cant pray during sunrise. Is this the same as 'golden hour'? if so, as long as i pray before or after golden hour can I still pray Fajr as long as I do so before its time for Dhuhr?
