so the poll Indie game sega saturn based? has ended, i thought about post only when i post a new devlog about the game, but i think it's better to show today.
A long time ago I played Spyro Ripto's Rage and a little bit of Nights into Dreams, in Spyro and I really liked the Speedway levels and how simple, challenging and funny they are, the same in Nights, in a 2.5D world spinning in rings, and I planned make a simple game like that, just with these characteristics.
in some searches I found another game called propcycle, an arcade game with some physics of acceleration and deceleration and I thought "hey, if I mix all this? will it be ok?" and today I bring my indie project inspired by these 32-bit games, "A clash of dimensions".
A flying game about a character who crash lands in another world after an experiment with energy crystals goes wrong, now he needs to find a way to get back to his world.
it will be a short game, with only three levels per act (3 acts) with a boss at the end of each one, here is a devlog with the actual gameplay

I got a Nepenthes eymae way back in January, which got burnt but grew 2 leaves, one of which was partially already growing when I got it (growing indoors under lights at the time because of winter). The second one grew in slowly outdoors, then I think(?) it accelerated when I put a little plastic cup on top for added humidity. Neither have fully developed pitchers, but I can't tell if the tiny pitchers are still alive and taking their time or burnt and died from low humidity.

Similarly I got a Nepenthes x briggsiana (thanks for the ID) a little over 2 weeks ago, and there's a developing leaf that hasn't grown at all. It still has it's old pitchers though and one developing one that also hasn't grown at all. Is this just a natural transitional issue or is it related to humidity and weather also?

We've been in the 50s at night and 60s/70s during the day this last week (getting warmer), and humidity goes down to about 50-ish during the day and goes back up to the 70% - 80% at night. I think it usually drops further into summer though, and the temperatures definitely go up.

So I guess what I'm asking here is are these signs my plants are unhappy with their current conditions? And especially for the eymae, should I start acclimating it to indoor conditions in a terrarium-like setup under grow lights now, or leave it out until Summer? I just don't want to stress it out if I have to bring it indoors, it seems like it should be treated like an intermediate-highlander, not sure if this would be too warm. Can these Neps tolerate and adapt to lower humidity or should I just get a nice terrarium going for them?

TL;DR: can eymae and x briggsiana survive and pitcher when temps get higher and humidity drops slightly (probably 30s at day, rarely in the teens, and back up at night)? If not, should I just acclimate them to indoors now?

Analysis of the Mullen Van EMM Test Data
TL;DR: Inconsistent test procedures, incomplete details, and results that are incompatible with previously stated results make it impossible to draw any solid conclusions from the data
We finally have some more data on Hardge’s EMM device than the bits and fragments that have been found previously. Kudos to Cal for acquiring it from Hardge and sharing it publicly. Here’s my analysis of what has been shared. As usual, this is long, because the details matter.
The data shows dyno runs from two different days, the first on Jan. 5 (Run A) and the second on Jan. 20 (Run B). While there is nothing in the data itself that labels the runs such, it seems that we are supposed to assume that Run A shows the Mullen 1 cargo van without an EMM installed, while Run B is supposed to be the data for a van with the EMM installed.
SOC % Over Time
The tables shown indicate the battery State of Charge (SOC %) at different hourly time intervals. The data shows that the van in Run A completely ran out of charge after 5 hrs 37 min, while the van in Run B still had 44% of charge after that same amount of time. I put the data into a simple graph to show that based on the data presented the van in Run B (w/ EMM, we assume) clearly used less battery charge over the same time interval. If we extrapolate Run B linearly then the data implies that it could have run for a full 10 hours before reaching 0% SOC.
The graphs plot both Power (hp) and Calculated Speed (mph) as a function of Time (seconds). It essentially provides a timeline of how much power was required to rotate the dyno wheel at the indicated calculated speed at each moment of the run. It provides much more detail than the tables for Time and MPH, which appear to be manually recorded at far fewer intervals.

This is especially significant because the Run A graph displays quite a lot more variance in the vehicle speed and power, at least in the first half of the run, compared to Run B. When analyzing data, the differences can often provide clues for a meaningful understanding of the results.

Analyzing the Run A and Run B Differences

The reason it is important to carefully consider the differences is because we need to determine if the different results are caused by the device/phenomenon that we are actually studying, or by differences in the testing conditions. This is why scientists and engineers try to keep test conditions between trials as close as possible, in order to minimize the effects of environmental differences and make it easier to conclude that the result is due to the thing being tested. Unfortunately, there are several notable differences in the Run A and Run B testing conditions that may undermine how confidently we can conclude that the observed results were due to the EMM itself.
First, the NOTES indicate that Run A was conducted at a temperature of 63 F while the temperature during Run B was 74 F. Temperature can affect EV range, with collected data showing that EV range generally peaks at around 70-71F. This is due to a combination of the battery thermal management systems working to maintain an ideal temperature for the battery around that range, as well as the lower need for HVAC usage to maintain a comfortable interior temperature. The test notes indicate that “all acc on” for both tests, and Hardge has said in previous comments that this includes lights, radio, and even air conditioning. But the notes do not indicate what temperature the HVAC control was set to. A higher temperature would have the heater drawing more energy in Run A. To be fair, if the A/C was set to a lower temperature, then cooling would draw more energy for Run B. Without the details we are unable to assess the impact of the temperature difference.

Significant Fluctuations in Driving Procedure

But the data does show that there were significant differences in how the van was driven between Run A and Run B. The speed for Run B remains essentially flatline between 44-45 mph for essentially the entire run, and it is most likely that cruise control was set to maintain this consistency. In contrast, the first half of Run A exhibits significant speed fluctuation, with speeds dropping as low as 33 mph and rising above 53 mph, including two sharp accelerations that increased speed by about 15 mph. Even without overlaying the light blue lines indicating the range of speed for Run B over the data for Run A the fluctuations are obvious.
Speed Fluctuations
Fluctuating speeds can significantly affect energy consumption and range for an EV. This study showed that:
Driving speed oscillations negatively influence energy consumption of BEVs. The larger the oscillations, the higher the energy consumption. While small oscillations of 0.1 m/s^2 don’t significantly influence energy consumption, larger oscillations of 0.3 m/s^2 do (with a gain of 14% for eco-drivers, 37% for normal drivers and 53% for aggressive drivers).
Repeatedly accelerating and decelerating uses up considerably more energy than travelling at a constant rate of speed, causing up to 53% higher energy consumption according to that study. Those who have driven EVs for an extended amount of time know personally how different driving styles can impact efficiency. The exact same car driven over the exact same route in different manners can result in meaningful differences in the expected range (this very unofficial test showed a difference of 7% in battery charge from just a 30 mile drive).
This is also evident in the graph of Power between the two runs, with the power in Run A fluctuating significantly out of the range exhibited in Run B, with multiple periods showing double or triple the power draw. Again, the blue lines show the limited range of power draw for Run B compared to Run A.
Power Fluctuations
While it appears that cruise control was activated for Run A (EDIT to fix) starting around the 12500 second (3.5 hour) mark, it is important to note that the cruise control was set to a higher speed of 53 mph, compared to the 45 mph speed set for Run B. The vehicle was then kept at 53 mph for more than 2 hours until the battery was depleted. In an indoor dyno test without the effects of aerodynamic drag, higher speed will have less of an impact on power, but there is still a meaningful difference. This is why the EPA uses different drive cycles to determine the EV efficiency and range at different speeds, and why the “city” rating is almost always higher than the “highway” range rating for EVs.
It is baffling why Mullen did not keep the driving profiles more consistent between Run A and Run B. The major differences in driving profile compromise being able to conclude that the greater efficiency displayed in Run B is due to the EMM as opposed to Run A being driven in a much less efficient manner.
This issue is compounded even more by the fact that only a single trial was conducted for each configuration. Everyone who has conducted scientific testing knows that multiple trials are important to average out the effects of random extremes. Why did Mullen chose to do only a single run with and without the EMM? Or, did Mullen and Hardge in fact do multiple runs, and cherry-picked only a single sample to share? It should be noted that it was a period of 15 days between Run A and Run B. Why did it take more than two weeks between the tests? We don’t even know if they used the same van for both Run A and Run B.

What about the Distance Travelled?

I will finish this post with one more factor I noticed that calls into question the legitimacy of the testing procedures performed. For a graph of speed versus time, the area under the line represents the total distance travelled. Using a tool like Graphreader allows you to plot out and generate a data set to match a given graph, and then with a bit of Google Sheet-fu we can derive the total distance travelled by the vehicle for each run.
I leave it to the reader to try it for themselves, but the result I obtained was:
  • Run A = 262 miles
  • Run B = 242 miles
With 44% SOC remaining and that distance traveled in Run B, a linear extrapolation would end up with a distance of 432 miles (65% higher than Run A) by the time the battery is fully depleted. But here is why this range figure does not make sense in light of what Mullen has previously stated.
In the PR statement that Mullen issued on April 20 (which remains deleted), Mullen stated that the testing of the EMM on the M1 “showed more than a 75% increase in range” (stock M1 is claimed to go 110 miles), resulting in a “calculated EPA estimated range of 186 miles”.

And yet the results shown in the data would imply that the estimated range ought to be an incredible 432 miles! Why would the company claim 186 miles as the improved result, rather than 432 miles? Are they not understanding the implications of their own data? Or are there some other factors that disallow claiming the 432 miles range?
But here’s another questionable aspect of this range value from the test results. Run A indicated that the stock Mullen 1 van travelled 262 miles total, which is nearly 240% the actual rated range for the vehicle. This strongly suggests that there are aspects with how the test was conducted that are unrealistic and depart from what you would see in real-world usage. You may recall that when Hardge had Element Materials test his golf cart, it was done with the drive wheels lifted off the floor and spinning freely, thus greatly reducing the load and allowing much longer (and entirely unrealistic) runtimes.
With so many details of the test procedures and other aspects of how the runs were conducted missing, it is difficult to draw any firmer conclusions based on what has been presented. Though at least it is more than what we had before.

*³ - Even if not many people liked Automatic drifting, it was there for a reason for you to choose. Some liked it. Some didn't. It should be the player's choice.

*² - Wanted to split the vehicle selections between Solo Dash and Double Dash drivers. Solo Dash drivers will now only select between Karts and Bikes and Double Dash drivers will only select between ATVs and new Buggy vehicles. *Buggys are essential similar to the designs of the Karts used in Mario Kart Double Dash. ATVs are now bigger in size to help fit the idea of 2 drivers on one vehicle.
*³ - The original Super Mario Kart had 5 courses per Cup so I brought that option back for custom races.

Item Box - Gives the player a random item. Items given are based on the player's distance from first place. * I would like for them to look either similar to how they looked in Mario Kart 64 or Mario Kart DS' design.
Coin - Gives the player a small boost and increase top speed when more are collected, up to a maximum of ten.
Rupee - The equivalent of a coin, used for Hyrule Circuit and Zelda related courses. They replace coins in the item roulette and in the track.
Bell - The equivalent of a coin, used for Animal Crossing. They replace coins in the item roulette and in the track.
Cash - The equivalent of a coin, used for Splatoon related courses. They replace coins in the item roulette and in the track.

Coin Block ⁽ⁿᵉʷ⁾ - * floats above player for a short time (10 seconds). Hop to collect upto 10 coins. Can only be obtained if player has 0 coins. Replacing the Coin Box item from Mario Kart Tour. Example
~ Returning Items
Banana Peel - When a kart hits a Banana Peel, it spins out. You can carry one behind your kart to protect yourself from a single attack. Can be thrown backward and forward.
Green Shell - Travels in a straight line and knocks over a kart it hits.
Red Shell - Red Shell Homes in on the closest kart in front of the player and knocks it over.
Feather - Causes the player to spin and leap in the air, providing a small speed boost upon landing, akin to a regular trick (characters will also perform a trick animation during the jump).
Mushroom - Provides the player's kart with a small speed boost.
Super Star - Provides the player invincibility from all terrain and items, and also giving a speed boost.
Boo - Unleashes Boo, who turns the player invisible for a brief time, making them impervious to enemy attacks, and steals an opponent's item. Cannot steal Special Items.
Coinˣ - Grants the player two extra coins and a micro boost.
Lightningˣ - Causes all opponents to drop their items, shrink, and drive slowly for a short time.
Fake Item - Looks just like an item box, but when you run into it, it knocks you over.
Bob-omb - Explodes after a short time when thrown or dropped, knocking over any kart in its blast radius.
Blooper - Sprays ink on all racers ahead and reduces their visibility. The racers hit also lose some of their traction while sprayed.
Bullet Billˣ - Transforms the player into a Bullet Bill, rocketing through the track with auto-pilot, and providing invincibility from all terrain and items.
Spiny Shellˣ - Targets the racer in first place, knocking over all other karts in its path.
Super Horn - Emits a radial shockwave hitting racers, as well as destroying all obstacles, including the Spiny Shell.
~ Special Items
Fireball (Red) - Three fireballs will revolve around your kart. They split up after they're thrown and go sliding ahead. These powerful pyrotechnics can take out multiple opponents at once. Drivers: Mario, Fire Mario
Fireball (Green) - Three fireballs will revolve around your kart. They split up after they're thrown and go sliding ahead. These powerful pyrotechnics can take out multiple opponents at once. Drivers: Luigi, Fire Luigi
Fire Flower - Allows the player to throw fireballs for a short time that cause other karts to spin out on impact. Drivers: Metal Mario, Fire Peach, Fire Bro
Ice Flower - Three balls of ice will revolve around your kart. Throw them all at once and they'll freeze any kart they hit, causing them to slide. Drivers: Ice Bro, Ice Mario, Penguin Luigi
Heart - This protective Heart revolves around your kart for a set amount of time, shielding you from attacks. Any item that hits the player becomes theirs to use. A cute and handy item. Drivers: Peach, Daisy, Villager, Wendy, Mametchi
Yoshi's Egg - This egg rolls down the road and home in on opponents. When they hit and break, they'll drop three more items. Drivers: Yoshi
Birdo's Egg - Homes in on the kart in front of you and crashes once it hits. Three more items will fly out when it breaks. Drivers: Birdo
Chain Chomp - This fearsome beast chases karts with reckless abandon, pulling the player behind it at breakneck speeds. Drivers: Baby Mario, Baby Luigi
Triple Mushrooms - Orbits the player's kart, providing them with three separate speed boosts. Drivers: Toad, Toadette
Golden Mushroom - Provides the player's kart with continuous speed boosts for a short time. Drivers: Captain Toad
Mega Mushroom - The driver grows bigger, which allows them to squash other racers by running over them, making them lose their items and slow down for a moment. Drivers: Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Wiggler
Poison Mushroom - A stationary item. Looks like a regular mushroom but If one is run into, the victim shrinks, as if hit by a Lightning. Shrunken racers who run into it revert to normal size. Drivers: Kamek * ngl, i didn't really know who to give this item to
Mushroom Cannon - A cannon designed to resemble a Mushroom. Continually shoots out Mushrooms in front of your kart for a set time. Drivers: Monty Mole, Peachette, Toadsworth
Triple Green Shells - Three green shells that orbit the player's kart, protecting them from incoming attacks. Drivers: Koopa Troopa, Dry Bones, Lakitu, Koopa (Freerunning)
Triple Red Shells - Three red shells that orbit the player's kart, protecting them from incoming attacks. Drivers: Paratroopa, Dry Bones, Lakitu, Koopa (Freerunning)
Bowser's Shell - An awe-inspiring giant shell! As it careens down the road, slamming and ramming into karts, it's the very image of Bowser himself. Drivers: Bowser, Bowser Jr., Dry Bowser
Triple Bananas - Three bananas that orbit the player's kart, protecting them from incoming attacks. Drivers: Donkey Kong Jr., Dixie Kong
Giant Banana - Not only does this big banana spin out karts that hit it, but after being struck it breaks into three regular-sized Bananas. Drivers: Donkey Kong
Banana Barrels - Arm your kart with two fully-loaded barrels of Bananas! Continually shoots out Bananas in front of or behind your kart for a set time. Drivers: Diddy Kong, Funky Kong
Thunder Cloud - A thundercloud hovers over the recipient and strikes it with lightning after 10 seconds. The user shrinks to a very small size for 10 seconds, driving more slowly. Before this happens, the user has higher speed and acceleration while not losing speed when driving off-road, and may pass the cloud to an opponent by bumping into them. This game is more than just 0-60 and handlingstats and soon enough everyone of us has experienced this. Why did I lose with more handling? Why didn't I win with more topspeed / better 0-60? This makes no sense! Well let me tell you: most of the time it does. There is a variety of 'hidden stats' that have been discovered. Let me quote them from here.


'What's MRA?' - the question that's asked almost every day here. Well, MRA, short for mid-range acceleration, is a car's 60-100 time compared to its 0-60 time. You can find an MRA calculator at, just scroll down a little and you'll find it. You'll see that rather than a time, MRA is presented as a value, usually between 40 to 110. The higher the better. You can also check your car's MRA at, or if it's not there, play the 5th match of the UK Midlands campaign to test it.
An MRA of 100 means the car's 60-100 is the same as its 0-60, and that would mean it's a great long car. And an MRA of 50 would means the car's 60-100 is twice as long as its 0-60, which is bad.
So why is it talked about so often? Well, that's because it's a hidden factor the game doesn't tell you, but affects a ton of races. I like to think of MRA as an indicator of a car's acceleration curve- as in whether the rate of acceleration against time is deteriorating quickly or slowly. That's why it's important to know for dragsters; if you know your MRA then you would likely know which car comes out on top in a drag race. MRA doesn't just affect drags, it also affects tracks with long straights, such as Fast Circuit, Ocean Highway and more. It's the factor most people don't expect to screw them over, and it still does.
What makes a good dragster? Very simple- now that we know what MRA is, it's safe to say anything with a good 0-60 and good MRA (75 and above) would make a good dragster. The higher the MRA, the better it's suited for mile drags and races like 0-170mph.
I've made a post about what stats are important in what race. It's slightly more complicated, so I suggest you finish this post before checking it out.

OLA stands for Off the Line Acceleration- most people like to think of it as the 0-30mph time.
Generally, OLA and MRA are inversely proportional. High MRA=Low OLA. High OLA=Low MRA.
OLA doesn't sound as impressive, but it's useful in a variety of tracks with lots of turns and barely any straights, such as slaloms, karting circuit and indoor karting. So tracks with long straights favour cars with good MRA, and vice versa.
No one has calculated any OLA values yet- this is very hard information to extract.
It is worth noting that cars with good OLA (which is also bad MRA) have better stats than those with similar RQ, to make up for their lack of acceleration after 60mph.

It often coresponds with weight, tirestype and engine type of the vehicle. E.g. a light, electrified car with slicktires should do pretty good from standstill. Looking at you Renault Twizy F1. As said to this day noone has made it possible to put OLA in a displayable number, but as far as I know NASA is on it.


Stands for engine traction bonus. Upgrading the engine gives a handling boost and a small acceleration boost that is amplified in harsher track conditions.
For instance, ETB is less important on dry asphalt than on wet dirt.
Since maxing out the engine gives you the highest ETB possible, 323 (the first 3 stands for stage 3/maxed engine) is the preferred tune for all off-road and all-surface tyred cars, and most rain specialists. Since it isn't needed as much on dry asphalt, 323 isn't always the best tune for cars that work best on this surface (such as performance tyred 2wd cars)
These stats can be found by tapping any card, which reveals more info about the car.

Stands for traction control system and anti-lock braking system respectively. Offers better handling and braking if your car has them. Like ETB, having these matter more on offroad.

Ever tried doing a slalom race with a tank? Lighter cars handle better, which is most obvious in handling-focused tracks like slaloms and g-force. This is why Caterhams and Donkervoorts stand out among others in such tracks- they simply defy the laws of physics and time.
On off-road, heavier is usually better as it offers more traction. So you would want heavy cars for harsh conditions and light cars for asphalt.
Rule of thumb here is: to beat an openwheeler on slalom / g-force you have to bring a better openwheeler.

Affects narrow tracks like hairpin, mountain twisty road, karting circuits, narrow streets etc. Wider cars take longer to turn.
Edit: width may not matter, haven’t confirmed this. May be due to length instead (think bentley limo vs twizy)

This is a hidden stat that few know of, small cars tend to do much better in karting circuits and slaloms. Notable examples are the Renault Twizy F1 (has 78 handling, but easily beats many ~85 handling cars on slaloms), and the Honda City Turbo. Some good that have good OLA and bad stats are often small and can be used as great RQ savers on very twisty tracks.
(This is mostly my opinion, nothing has been proven yet)

On harsher surfaces, too much power generates wheelspin. This is why you have cases like the Epic Camaro beating the 12C on offroad drags- it simply has less power despite not being faster at any point in a dry asphalt drag.

Ground Clearance (GC)
Ground clearance is only relevant in a few races, namely city streets (CS) small, city streets medium, ocean city streets, hill climbs, speed bump drags and motocross track.
For city streets and speed bump drags, you need a medium or high clearance car to clear the speed bumps. You lose about 7 seconds on each bump if you bring a low clearance car, so remember to check your car's clearance before putting it on such a race.
For hill climbs and motocross track, you need a high clearance car and anything else will be penalized. Most low/medium cars lose by 200 points on motocross track against high clearance cars, and that can cost you the whole match.

I have a membership at my local indoor track and go every day to get practice and better before I eventually make the jump into owner karting.
Now there's a few corners at my local track u don't have to break for u can come of the throttle and throw the kart into the corner before accelerating again. But im not sure what is better breaking slightly to turn the kart or use the 'slide' technique.
Hoping for some advice as I'm looking to improve my lap times.

Caveat: A lot of these are just ideas that I have that could be interesting or would like to see. I'm not demanding them to appear. Nor do I expect the devs will likely see it and if they do, there's a low chance they will be interested in any of the ideas on here. And I imagine some of the ideas just don't work... I'm not a programmer, my flavor of game dev is tabletop RPG, so different constraints going on.
However, I have in the past, done random pondering as a between calls thing while at work, so this is more just casual sanity-keeping... and maybe I can find it easier on Reddit than Steam. So, I'm just going to paste some of the collected stuff that went into my post on the Steam forums.
I won't post other people's commentaries from there, because it's not content to repost. But anyway, onto the stuff. And if there's too much for one post, I'll put some in the replies. But I will continue to credit Steam user IDs that inspired me posting an idea.
(Also note that these are being pasted from something that dates to September of 2021, so lots of changes have happened which may have addressed some of the issues... I'll try to drop those as I see them, but won't catch everything... also, keeping in my "EDIT" markers and strikeouts from the original Steam forums post)

The gear I think could benefit the most from having increased item caps on larger maps:
I think we generally have enough cameras and having more crucifixes would make it less frustrating for getting the objective in big rooms like the gym or cafeteria, but I also think that would be too much if it showed up on a smaller room in a big map.
But having more coverage on Sound Sensors and Motion Sensors would make them really useful and I don't think it would make things too easy. Having Sound Sensors for tracking broad scale roaming and then motion sensors for smaller scale roaming would be nice.
Gear Limits
If more gear gets added, then thoughts about a truck limit should be applied.
Currently the truck has:
If, for instance, you add more defense items (Ofuda, Prayer Bracelet, Noisemaker, etc) then maybe you'd have to trade it out for one of the other defense items (Sanity Pills, Crucifix, etc)
Perhaps this could be a more upgraded truck or mid-level truck and you can start with just basics: Gear Cabinet, Map, Whiteboard, Video Camera, Sanity Monitor
And expand as you level/spend money.
Especially I'd like to see a sound over time event for sound sensors and paramics similar to how the
Activity Chart works for EMF and being able to get maybe a max of 4 video monitors.
Optional Objectives:
Above I mentioned the idea of being able to switch out gear for other pieces. If this is the case, then the order of operations would be:
  1. Select job
  2. See Optional Objectives
  3. Select Gear
  4. Load in Map
As such, you could see "Stop the hunt with a crucifix" and thus know you should take a crucifix.
Other objectives to be added associated with the new gear.
I know the devs are thinking of revamping and making objectives more interesting, so not sure what to consider here until I get to see the new benchmarks.

Basically if there's a stereotypical ghost power that would be too obvious and ruin the puzzle, tie it to model instead of type.
For outdoor maps use terrain to create rooms.
Campsite - use cliff-faces and trees to create hallways and rooms/clearings
Ghost-Town - the hallway is the outdoor section, the rooms are the individual buildings (huge)
Cemetery - use hills, gates, fences, tombs, mausoleums, groundskeeper's hut, church to create rooms (I know they've said cemetery is hard because it would be too open and the above is my suggestions to hopefully see it come about eventually)
Alternatives to the Bone as “Anchors” or “Fetters” (All of these would be unique item models not similar to common stuff around the map)
CJ has mentioned on Insym's stream a similar idea to this.
Cosmetic localizations
Optional location maps to the US, either similarly large scale countries and regions or zoomed in:
Probably best to wait until it's possible to build maps along the preferred architectural designs of those regions and hire artists with connections to said cultures.
Side note... doubt it would happen, but a change from set maps to procedurally generated ones would be interesting. Feels like it's a bit too fraught with peril and glitches to try that. Especially when you take into account having two floors. Would make adding some uniqueness to each investigation a bit easier since learning the map would be part of the investigation.
The alternate defense items has two motivations:

Basically, every hunt defense item is a different puzzle.
Expanded Pondering on Paired Ghost models
Ghost model idea
Cursed pairs/groups
The ghost is two ghosts perhaps one ghost murdered the other(s) or perhaps they died in a disaster and one ghost is the more aggressive.
Most ghost events are from one model: the victim/less aggressive ghost. Hunting is always from the other associated model: the murderemore aggressive ghost.
Accompanying ghost sounds include warnings from the non-aggressive ghosts such as "he's/she's coming" and shouts like "leave us alone" from the aggressive ghost.
Evidence and other things based on type. But this model combo might allow for ghost events/activity in two different rooms simultaneously.
I'd tie this to a model set rather than a ghost type.
That said, I wouldn't set this to just one combo... you don't want it always be the same models for aggressive and non-aggressive.
You could have a pool for the friendlieless aggressive ghosts and use the existing pool of models for the hunting model.
Let the lore be imagined/created by the players... maybe it's a mother and her child and the mother is protecting the child from intruders (the player). Maybe it was siblings that died in a fire. Maybe it was a murder suicide. Etc.
Alternately have the hunt be a random thing so sometimes either model will hunt and sometimes only one model will. Further allowing RNG to develop a story.
This would be a lot of work I expect... but feels like the kind of flex I'd like to see in models.
Just a commentary on the cursed-pair model set idea.
The haunted hotel in Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines sort of matches the idea I had for this.
There's a lot of events with the woman appearing and pointing you toward clues or running through hallways away from someone.
And when dangerous things happen they're often proceeded by a man's laughter.
So that's pretty much what I'm thinking of:
Events - woman being scared or helping investigator. Hunts - man trying to kill investigator.
And of course, the exact model for ghosts can be different. Two men, two women, two children, child and man, child and woman, etc.
The sheer number of models to make this model set feel unique each time would be effort intensive though.
Alternate Idea for Ofuda / Alternate Crucifix
Heard insym comment that he'd like to have four crucifixes that each worked once in some circumstances. I'd like to suggest that as a potential side-grade (as in if you have this, you don't also have the Crucifix).
Instead of two crucifixes you can get up to two ofuda to place on walls or floors and do the same task as a crucifix, but each has one use.
Allow for cosmetic sidegrades of different gear.
Incense sticks instead of smudge sticks. Alternate religious symbols in place of crucifix. Cobbled together handheld-radio version of a spirit box. Clipboard or academic spiral notebook for ghost writing, etc Some sort of chemical spill in place of salt.
Also, my alternate hunting items ideas as use-sidegrades.
So, the Ofuda as a side-grade replacement of the Crucifix, the speakers in place of smudge sticks. (Might also be used outside of hunts to provoke a response or ghost event from the truck, but would also consume the speaker after the ghost event.)
When we get career stats, have funny graphical representations of different stats.
Conumables used and next to a list of consumables a trash can showing the remains of the most recently used up consumables. So like empty pill bottles, half-burned and fully burned crucifixes, remains of smudge sticks, and so on.
Times killed: A pile of job-ID lanyards/badges put on like a memorial wall.
Ghosts discovered: Any ghost-photo we collected next to a name and location, or "no image available" thing for cases where we got no ghost photo.
Rename the difficulty levels to something more thematic in nature
It doesn't affect gameplay but does add a bit to immersion. As I think the gig-economy would paint everybody as professionals.
Making ghosts have personality:
Issue: Ghosts tend to seem very samey, ghosts with personality come about as a result of basically RNG with some adjustment by ghosts types that personality cues not possessed by other types. However, ghost type behavioral differences are by necessity mostly pretty mild in order to preserve the puzzle aspect of the game.
Idea: Using the ghost models to introduce more of the obvious behavioral bits. This is something that has already been discussed as being in the works by DK and CJ with Horror 2.0 apparently planned to have different events tied to different models.
Terminology: I've been using the term "Model Set" to refer to both the graphical model and the events and environmental pieces that would be tied to it.
Expanding on the idea of the model set, it would be interesting if the ghosts had a sort of "load out" of ghost events.
Assume there is a pool of General Ghost Events available to every ghost model, a pool of Map Events connected to each map, and a pool of Model Set Events tied to specific model sets.
Going to assume some arbitrary numbers here.
Let's assume each ghost has a loadout of:
Thus each ghost would have 24 separate possible events it could use (which is far more than most ghosts would do in general) which would encompass:
As a note, by map specific event I mean something more than an object interaction such as moving the rocking chair or tapping the piano. All object interactions should be available to all ghosts, perhaps with a ghost have a set of favorite/preferred objects that it has a much higher chance of returning to and interacting with.
A map specific event might be something like the TV going crazy in Tanglewood or Willow... or the Fireplace ejecting flame in Ridgeview (I think there's a fireplace in the living room? I might be wrong there) stuff like that. actual Events.
For further note, if implementing this, perhaps put Manifestation (where the ghost appears) on a separate activity chart so that you could have a lot of these elements appearing that don't necessarily produce a ghost photo op every time. That said, any additional activity is a lowered likelihood of photo op as the manifestations are, no matter what you do, working against a pool of other possible events.
If you throw in the items I have earlier that could potentially force a ghost to appear (tossing holy water in the right place... using Seance candles, I think those are the only two I suggested) then increased non-manifestation events wouldn't be as much as an issue.
Mirror evidence ghosts --- this entire section was posted before cursed objects were released, but leaving them here... I've re-worked one or two of these but keeping these just for the same sort of shrug pondering purposes.
The idea of mirrors as evidence came from Mynx-in-Match and my development of that was:
Mirror fogs - Ghost is present
Mirror cracks - Evidence
Strigoi - A parasitic entity that projects itself into the physical world to prey upon the living.
Vrykolakas - A bloated creature that kills those who reply to its knocking.
Jiangshi - A spirit with stiff limbs that pursues the living with tenacity and seeking the breath of the living.
Empusa - A devouring spirit sent to guard roads and devour travelers.
More potential Mirror Ghosts (a bit inspired by having started playing Black Book)
Said to be a sorcerer who died before they could pass on the spirits that they had bound to a successor. Their presence is betrayed by these former servants turned jailers. (fluff. I figure DOTS and Orbs represent the swarm of familiar spirits they had in life).
A ghost that possesses the living. The possessed person may not be aware of their situation and they become a center of misfortune.
A demon of bath houses that is angered by those who don't follow proper rituals and punishing those that enter it's space without permission.
Coming from the suggestion by HyperFusedBlur and expanded upon by TamTroll, I'm listing the idea of having upgrades to the truck.
HyperFusedBlur suggested having multiple cameras to accommodate the 6 placeable video cameras and 4 head cameras.
TamTroll expanded on that suggesting the ability to set some monitors to be "facility" "investigator" "head cams" and "placeable video cams." To make cycling easier.
Expanding, because having upgrades to the basic truck has been something I've wanted... if it's feasible (I'm uncertain if the trucks are part of the map or not).

Motion triggered cameras. Cameras tied into something like the motion sensor so it will trigger to be the focus camera on the screen when it detects movement.
This could potentially cause issues with teammates not being careful about triggering one when another camera is being watched elsewhere.

Regarding sounds of running water and Rain.
Jiangshi - non-mirror version
When a person is improperly buried sometimes the brutal part of their soul remains behind when the rest passes on and they rise as these blind but relentless ghosts.
regarding the evidence, the myth is that the good/intelligent part of the soul has passed on but the evil/animalistic part remains... so I figure the Ghost Orbs, DOTS, and Writing are the good parts of the soul trying to warn people while the evil parts flail about like a monster.
A ghost that likes the light.
Uncertain what folklore to match with this idea.
Idea isn't just an anti-Mare that hunts early in light but where light makes it more active. More ghost events, more interactions, maybe a chance not to turn off the light when a ghost event happens. So, not technically an early hunter, but drawn to well-lit areas and barraging the investigator with Oni-like activity and sanity draining events. There are places hidden on the internet. Dark, forbidden, places. Places that people like me go for information. People like me that are very much aware that something is really wrong with our world.
It is in these deep corners one can find certain things. Snatches of scripts, character outlines. Drawings. Parts of old YouTube trailers taken down and never to be shown again. All of these things pertain to a kids show that was created for television but never shown. All of it was compiled by a woman who died a few years ago. Her name was Melanie Ross.
It was this article I found posted by someone who went by the Id Derpy that drew my attention and I do confess I find myself believing in it. First Derpy has posted other articles and information on the show before and is generally viewed as a trustworthy source. And second as I myself have worked for Disney for a very short time. I have heard certain rumors about the ride in question. Though it was long gone before I worked at the parks the rumors still persist to this day.
But in the end I cannot verify or deny this story. I'm posting her journal entry here to let the reader decide. Do with it as you wish.
MY Little Pony: Adventures through Equestria.From the journal of Melanie Rose
It was going to be a hot day. The park hasn't opened yet I can already feel beads of sweat rolling down the back of my neck. I was among the crowds of guests waiting to enter the park and the Florida sun was already baking me but no one else seemed to notice or if they did, care.
I could feel myself growing impatient and even a little nervous as I waited. A month ago I had visited the park. I tried to sneak in and see it but I got caught by security. They were nice to me as they escorted me through those mysterious tunnels under the park that everyone talks about as they took me to the office of Disney security. They took my name and Id told me they were letting me go with a warning that if they ever caught me anywhere on Disney World property ever again I would be arrested for trespassing. I was being banned for life from Disney.
Yet here I am again. Two days from now that secret Disney and Hasbro has been doing its best to pretend it doesn't exist will be gone. Two days from now what I came all the way here to see will be demolished to make way for a new ride. From what I heard told it will be some sort of Snow White Roller coaster ride.
Two days from now The My Little Pony ride will be erased from the earth never to be seen again.
In 2009 Hasbro was in full production in a new cartoon series. It was a planned reboot to an old eighties series that didn't do so well when it came out. But they were confident the new one would make up for the failure of the first. After all, name a little girl and little boy who doesn't like ponies.
Spearheaded by a man named Simon Kuklachelovek well known in the industry for creating hit cartoon series. Hasbro was so confident in the new series they teamed up with Disney to help create a ride for it.
How it came to be I can't say. The deal was done behind closed door that even I couldn't get into. But there are a few things I have learned. The ride was called "My Little Pony: Adventures through Equestria" estimated cost was around eighty million with each company splitting the bill. The ride itself some sources had said it was around five to seven minutes long with a combination of animatronics, 2D and 3D animation in something that was described as a mild indoor roller coaster.
Upon entering the ride guests were seated into a gold or silver chariot representing the sun and the moon that could hold between ten to fifteen people. The ride itself was like a story. (Disney does like its stories.) As guests are magically transported from Disney World to Equestria by a purple unicorn named Twilight Sparkle.
Twilight escorts the guests through Equestria meeting her friends along the way. However, an evil Alicorn named Nightmare Moon tries to stop Twilight and the guests, promising eternal darkness.
With the help of the guests Twilight prepares to stop her along with her friends to help while a blue unicorn and something called a draconequus named Discord attempt to create chaos and prevent Twilight from stopping Nightmare Moon.
However Twilight Sparkle with the help of some magic gems called the Elements of Harmony they are able to Send Nightmare Moon back.
The ride ends with everyone arriving in Canterlot with Celestia sending the guests back to the Magic Kingdom in Disney World. And that is what the ride supposedly is about.
From what I learned the My Little Pony ride was completed but never opened. It sits there now unused in the Magic Kingdom hidden by a wooden fence and potted bushes hiding it so well that it's easy to miss if you don't know what you're looking for.
Why? What happened? It didn't take me too long as I researched the show to make me realize why Disney would rather take a forty million dollar loss and pretend it doesn't exist. They're scared of it.
Finally. After waiting what felt like hours the park opens with a flair. I wipe the sweat off my forehead while I navigate my way through the crowds. I feel a little nervous as I pass by Disney employees welcoming me into the park.
I have been careful on my return trip. I have cut my hair short and dyed it red. I am also wearing a sunhat and thick red sunglasses. With the thousands of people entering the Magic Kingdom everyday I'm sure I won't be noticed. But still this whole ordeal is playing havoc with me. A feeling every time I see an employee a paranoia seems to overtake me. A feeling that they know who I am and they are waiting for me.
I pick up the pace as I make my way through Main Street USA then cut through Cinderella's castle as I exit the other side entering FantasyLand. The carousel is the first thing that greets me. Playing Old Disney songs while rows of perfect white horses spin around and around in a circle until the end of time. When I was a little girl the carousel was my favorite thing in the world. Now I have to admit it kinda scares me.
I stare at the horses and I wonder what secrets do they know? What are they not telling us? I looking in the eyes of the countless horses as they spin past me. Feeling that if they could talk they would tell me to run.
"You're going to die," came the voice of a young girl as she got onto the carousel.
I froze as those words stabbed me through the heart. Turning around I see a young girl that had to have been around seven or eight wearing a yellow ballerina dress that said "You have friends in Equestria," on it. Attached to it was a pink tutu that matched her long flowing pink hair. Fake plastic yellow wings were attached to the back of it while her arms wrapped around a purple plush unicorn that stared at me with these intense violet eyes.
Slowly the carousel began to spin again as the wooden horses went up and down to some Disney song I couldn't remember the name of.
"I'm sorry I didn't catch what you said," I say to her. "Can you please repeat that?"
"Who is your favorite pony?" the girl asked me. Showing off her perfect white teeth as she smiled, "Mine is Twilight Sparkle."
"Favorite pony from what?"
The girl stared at me for a moment as if she was listening to someone only she could hear before she finally spoke again. "They were right. This really is the happiest place on earth."
I watched her as she skipped away from me. Easily disappearing into the throngs of people moving all around. I tried to catch sight of her but she was gone. Leaving me standing next to the Carousel as It played "When you Wish Upon A Star."
I hate to admit it but that girl shook me up more than I want to admit to myself. Picking up the pace I worked my way to the edge of where FantasyLand bordered with Liberty Square. It is their where I located the ride on my last visit. As I said before the ride has been barricaded by a wooden fence too high to see through, obscured even further with potted bushes, shrubs and some other plants. I didn't know what kind they were except for doing a good job in hiding it.
The ride was excellently camouflaged I have to admit. If you didn't know what you were looking for you would have easily walked right past it. It took me almost the entire day to find it on my last visit. Getting caught when I finally found the gate that would lead me in.
I picked up the pace as I got closer. Once you know what you were looking for. It becomes a lot easier to see as I make a beeline towards it. Carefully I worked my way through the plants. It was easy to find the latch as I gripped the handle and started to open the door.
"Ma'am, what are you doing?" came a voice directly behind me, "You're not supposed to be in there."
I found myself freezing and my mind racing as I heard the footsteps of Disney security walking right behind me.
"Ma'am, I'm going to have to ask you to step out of the bushes," said the security guard to me.
I have never claimed to be a fast thinker. But today I have to admit if they ever hand out awards for being fast on your feet I would definitely qualify for one as I reached into my backpack, grabbing some candy I got from my mother. I jammed one of the wrapped up candy pieces into my mouth, holding it in my mouth as I backed out slowly.
"I'm sorry." I said. Giving him my friendliest smile as I unwrapped the candy piece and ate it. "I was just looking for a place to eat all this yummy candy my mom gave me. They told me where, but I couldn't find it."
Like a true Disney employee I saw him relax as he directed me to the nearest area. Probably figuring me as just some stupid tourist. I pretended to listen to his instructions then waved as I went off. Breathing a sigh of relief as I turned the corner and out of his vision. Stupid girl Paige. I should have been paying better attention. Don't want to get caught again.
I let some time pass wandering the park until I decide to head back to the spot. Dammit! As I get closer I see him hovering around the area. He seems bored standing there but he is alert as I watch him paying attention to the passerby.
Quickly before he can spot me I duck into one of the many shops in the Magic Kingdom. I walk to the back and surround myself with Mickey and Minnie Mouse dolls where I can keep and eye on him. Sooner or later, he will move away, and when he does, I will find out what is behind that fence.
Dang it!, I thought if I waited long enough he would move to another spot. Three hours have passed and still security is guarding the area. It's a different guard than earlier but still I don't want to be seen hanging around or he might get suspicious.
I buy an overpriced Donald Duck keychain as I continued to walk around the shops. Keeping an eye out for any opening I can exploit. My patience is starting to wear thin when I finally see a way to get in. Probably the only one I will ever get.
They do try to tell people about the Florida heat but everyday at least one guest decides to ignore the warnings and not drink enough fluids. It was an elder man this time. I saw him collapse to the ground nearby as the rest of his family just stood over him in shock. To dumbfounded to do anything but stand there like trees. I guess they never believed that anything like this could happen at Disney.
I must admit to being impressed by the man. I watch as he quickly comes over and starts to assist the family. Calling for help while rendering aid. Better for me as I take a deep breath and walk past the group who is too busy dealing with the emergency. Working my way around them I quickly sneak by and bury myself into the bushes as I make my way through to the fence. It doesn't take me long to find the gate again. I grab the handle and find it opening easily as I quietly sneak in.
The door swung open with no sound and no resistance as I entered and close it behind me with a loud snick. Taking me a moment to realize just how quiet it was.
Behind me I could still hear the music, the chaos of thousands of people going from ride to ride. But it all sounded so far away. As if the Magic kingdom had suddenly been moved a few miles.
The continuous scraping of my shoes against the concrete as I walked onward was the only sound I made. I have to admit the My Little Pony ride looked impressive as I could feel the little girl inside of me giggle at it in awe.
The outside was made to look like a giant tree. With an opening at its base for guests to enter. From its many branches I could see colorful figures of ponies watching. Now slightly faded from the years of neglect, staring at me through the leaves or playing around the trunk of the tree near the opening. I have to admit I felt a little creeped out. Their stares too intense. Their smiles too wide. I worked my way through some old rusted barriers that formed lines for the guests who will never see it to enter. In the silence I could hear the hum of engines running in the distance. Was the ride left on?
Flickering lights made to look like candles illuminated the inside as I approached it. Closing my eyes I could hear the whispering of many voices waiting eagerly in line for their chance to ride. The laughter of children seemed to drift from every dark corner that was beyond my vision.
Taking deep breaths as I felt myself growing more and more anxious as I got closer. The little girl from earlier. Her smile stuck in my head made me more afraid than I wanted to admit as I stepped in.
The room was circular made out of plastic constructed to look like wood as if I was inside of a giant tree. Rows up rows of dusty books were glued onto old shelves rotting away and covered in cobwebs. In the center was a large puddle of green water. Probably algae. Rain water must have leaked in from a hole in the roof to form the puddle in the middle of the room. Seeming to have the smell of a forgotten basement, I have to say, it reminded me more of the Haunted Mansion ride than a cheerful cartoon of singing ponies.
On one side, a screen was built into the wall. Warped and scratched with a thin film of grime from the look of it. What was it going to play? I couldn't tell you as the thing looked pretty damaged. And still I could hear the voices of thousands of people patiently waiting in line along with their children. Seeming to follow me as I made my way through the room and to the other side which led me down a corridor made of the same plastic wood. Illuminated by those same plastic lights masquerading as candles.
Occasionally, I would pass empty monitors attached to the ceiling. A couple had fallen off their posts to shatter on the ground but most were still secured to the ceiling.
I passed another room easily stepping around the tarnished and stained brass rails separating lines of people that would never use it. And still this sensation of being surrounded seemed to follow me, as I walked into the third and final room.
The room was bigger than the other two as it divided people into yet more lines. Beyond it was a mural of a forest overlooking a clear blue sky with the silhouette of a castle in the background. In the center was a metal track painted black with a gold chariot sitting their humming quietly from unseen motors running below the rails, patiently waiting for me to get on.
Each seat had a harness that rose above it. A symbol of the sun was painted on the front of the chariot. On the side, was the numbers 101010. For two years, it sat here, neglected, yet the chariot seemed brand new, the seat was comfortable. I didn't want to get on it, but there was no going back. I knew I had to see this to the end.
I continued to feel the unseen eyes watching me, knowing I was going to do it. Regardless, I stepped downward into the chariot and made my way towards the middle. Once I made myself comfortable, the harness came down over me, securing me in with a loud click as the ride began to move and a hidden door in front of me opened.
"Here in Equestria, our magic can be unpredictable to creatures such as you," said the voice overhead that sounded like Twilight Sparkle as the chariot rolled onward, "So please, keep your hands, feet, and head inside the chariot at all times."
"And please, no flash photography during your trip. It can scare all those cute, cuddly animals of the forest, and we wouldn't want that now, would we?" said another voice that sounded like Fluttershy before the chariot began to accelerate.
I was surprised by the condition of the ride. Despite having a couple years of neglect it still ran pretty smooth. Some of the animatronics didn't work properly and a few of the screens were damaged. One was completely shattered with shards of glass laying all over the ground. A few of the props had fallen over and everything was caked in a layer of dirt and filth. But the ride ran pretty smooth as the chariot zipped along the rails following the purple unicorn named Twilight Sparkle who continued to take me all over Equestria, showing off all her friends that live in Ponyville.
It was about the middle of the ride I guess. As Twilight along with her friends, that everything took a very dark turn. Clouds began to fill the screen above me as it got noticeably darker. Lightening began to flash all around me as an ominous laughter was heard growing louder and louder.
"Oh no!" yelled Twilight Sparkle, "Nightmare Moon is back!"
A silhouette of something dark drifted behind the cartoon clouds. Something that I was sure didn't belong on the ride. A something that was very much aware of me
My nervousness began to creep back into me as the feeling that something was wrong. My hand gripped the harness and I pulled it to see if I could lift it up but it was locked into place. Panic began to overtake me as I began to fight with it. As a terrible knowing that bad things were beginning to happen.
Another flash of lightning ripped the darkness apart as black ooze began to pour out of the animatronics. The blackness dripped out downwards to the ground, tearing up the ponies and exposing their metallic insides as more continued to come out the six ponies as the chariot continued onwards.
"You wanted to know Paige," said the remains of Twilight as her face sunk into her head. Twisting into a terrible grin before dropping off to the ground, "You wanted to see. You wanted to understand what we are. I hope you enjoy the ride."
The chariot rocketed forward going faster and faster turning sharply downwards as I felt myself being pressed into the seat from the accelerations as the ride plunged into a tunnel.
Downwards I shot, everything becoming a blur of motion. It was dark, but enough light was present somehow for me to barely see.
"He is at the center." said a voice in the darkness sounding like Twilight, "He is the everything. He is the end, the eater. The chaos. He is everything. And he is hungry, always hungry."
"And we are eating, always eating." said another voice that sounded like Rainbow Dash.
"Behold the chaos. Hail the eater." said another voice that sounded like Pinkie Pie.
A reddish light ripped the darkness apart and I saw. I didn't want to see but I couldn't stop. A thing beyond the imagination of any sane or rational mind laid their unmoving. Even though I was still away from it, the size of the thing was incomprehensible, seeming to stretch both in height and width as I saw the thing that lay below our planet.
"As big as the world. Maybe even bigger." whispered the voice in my ear as I sat there unable to move, my terror paralyzing me.
It's wormlike body was black without eyes, ears or nose. Only a mouth opened to expose rows upon rows of mountain sized teeth. On the side, I saw deformed wings and misshapen limbs too small for such a huge creature to use.
I didn't want to see. I just wanted it all to stop. But as I looked onward, I knew it's name. From the deepest corner of my soul I knew it. "Discord". Certain that's what it called itself as I was certain the sky was blue. It was immense, it was terrifying, and it was dead.
I gagged as I caught the overpowering stench of rot and decay, the creature was decomposing. I stared at things resembling deformed ticks the size of houses crawled over the corpse by the millions. Their abdomens swollen to the point of bursting as they consumed the dead monster worm. As I knew that the sun would burn out before those things would make a dent in the body.
I stared as one of the carrion eaters lost its footing on the carcass, tumbling downwards, it hit the floor and burst spilling enough black goo to fill a few pools, and still my terror grew as I saw them.
There must have been about ten of them crawling around in the mess on the ground. They are crying in pain as they started to evaporate, and their bodies are twisting and turning from the exposure to the elements and all I could think of was. "Oh my god, they look like ponies."
And then the true horror hit me. All of it. The truth of it all. The knowing of the unknown.
Discord wasn't dead.
"Ding, ding, ding, give the lady a prize!" laughed a voice that sounded like Discord's voice but in a demonic tone behind me.
He is dead, but he isn't. Discord was somehow in between living in the dead but still clinging to life. It was growing and it was coming back, and it knew I was here.
The chariot banked sharply, speeding onwards towards the it. Faster and faster it goes as I saw its mouth grow bigger, as I lost all sanity from that point. I sat there in stunned silence unable to comprehend anything that just happened. I sat there, dumbfounded as I blankly watched rows of dancing ponies celebrating the defeat of Nightmare Moon.
"Farewell, new friends! I hope to see you again real soon!" screamed a pink pony named Pinkie Pie standing on a ledge on top of the exit doors, as she brought out a cannon that showered me with degraded confetti.
I felt the ride roll to a complete stop, back at the beginning. My body started to shake and convulse as everything ripped through me. For the first time in my life, I believed in true evil. For the first time in my life, I believed in the devil.
I felt bile rising up inside me and the harness mercifully unhooked giving me the freedom to finally get out. I vomited. I cried. I vomited some more.
How I got away? Well... Um... I couldn't tell you, as everything was a blur. I don't know how I got out from the Magic Kingdom and made it to my car, but once I was there, I finally felt safe as I started to let it all out.
It took me a while to get myself under control before I turned the key in the ignition and let the A/C cool me off. As I started to put my car into drive, I noticed something sticking out on the side of the passenger's seat. As I laid it on my lap, I felt the fear return.
It was a laminated folder covered in Disney characters with the word "Memories" printed on it in bright gold letters and a red border. Opening it up, I saw a photograph of myself on that ride. I thought I rode alone but there was someone on it sitting behind me... That little girl with the yellow dress and the pink hair. Her eyes were black and crying blood, and she had red pupils too, and she was smiling and waving at the camera.
At the bottom, inscribed on the picture was the phrase, "Abandoned by God".

Hey, /preppers, how's it going? Really long post below but I tried to make a decent TL;DR.
As the title states, I wanted to ask for some input and/or resources on developing social skills and community/coalition building in a SHTF scenario. TL;DR I am looking for advice on how to proceed with my local community after possibly giving a bad first impression. May be a long-winded post but I really want to explain my situation as I have very poor socialization skills. Looking for general social intelligence advice, books, resources, videos etc.
This might be a lot of background but, me (Millennial, M) and my partner (Millennial, F) currently live in a fairly safe neighborhood in a big city in a red state in the USA and split a "double house" or whatever you'd call it with one neighbor, so we share walls on one side of our houses. Sorry if any of this is communicated weirdly, I'm under-informed on a lot but trying to catch up. On our side of the street there are mostly these "double houses" but across from us it appears to be all single family homes/neighbors seem "wealthier" at a glance at least from the vehicles and other expenses that they have on display.
I am undergoing treatment and medication for PTSD, GAD, MDD, and ADHD stemming from my abuse growing up. I had very little social contact with anyone outside of my nuclear family growing up and was never allowed to leave the house, etc. However I am doing really well in my life at the moment but have struggled with being ultra-defensive and hyper-vigilant and hostile to strangers for a lot of my life, and I have only really started being a stable person period about a year ago.
But until this last year I was pretty much spiraling out of control and in a mental tailspin, was heavily abusing THC and alcohol to self-medicate etc. My partner and I lived in a pretty horrific and violent apartment before moving into this house and constant domestic abuse/rampaging groups of young people/car break ins and shootings left me in a very dark and jaded place mentally and on top of the anti-social behavior that became prevalent during the initial COVID years I pretty much started acting like an aggressive and misanthropic person, openly hostile and suspicious of anyone in my vicinity.
My partner is a smaller, in shape and attractive person and was constantly targeted with harassment by the various males that occupied our apartment and surrounding communities and we have had many "close calls" with some man trying to harm her in some way or follow her or take advantage of her in the past. She has worked immensely on developing more of a confident and "stay away" composure when in public but it's still very uncomfortable imagining how people around us might be fixated on her.
When alone she has been surrounded by groups of men of various ages and backgrounds (like from teenage to 65+. Really no pattern. Just any post-puberty male lmao) in just grocery stores several times trying to harass her or convince her to leave with them. Uber drivers trying to pressure her to cancel the ride and go back to their homes with them instead. Delivery drivers and store clerks using her personal info to call/text/harass her through multiple blocked numbers and social media accounts, it goes on and on. Really scary shit. We had previously spent a few months homeless and again she was constantly targeted by sketchy individuals once it was obvious that we were homeless.
These experiences have led to both of us becoming extremely reserved and cautious around people and especially males. I am a decently large and masculine presenting person so these events have never happened when I was with her, but persistently when she was alone. I'm not in crazy intimidating shape or anything but am just decently big/muscular and have masculine features etc. Just to point out to clarify that I'm not some scary looking guy, just above average in height and size and male.
Our next door neighbor is a younger male, maybe a few years younger than myself but around the same age so both my partner and I have been operating on a total "I can't see you" cold shoulder style ignoring of their presence because every time we've tried to be casually friendly to neighbor men it has turned into them trying to harass her. Nothing rude or hostile but just very reserved.
After a year of being on treatment and in therapy for my issues my emotional intelligence has skyrocketed and I am a much more calm and gentle person emotionally and act much more confident and casual when in public spaces and talking to strangers. I've lost a lot of weight since moving here and have also taken much more care to groom my appearance and buy new clothes/keep my beard trimmed etc.
We don't have a car anymore (someone stole the catalytic converter from aforementioned apartment) but live in a walkable area but I know that I've come off as a creepy stranger danger dude in the past because of my tense body language and longeunkempt beard and hair and dress walking to get groceries and stuff. I don't think it's that bad or anything but of course I can see that my neighbors might think I'm a bit sketchy from how I used to present myself. I also used to seriously neglect lawn care etc and a million other things that I am able to manage now.
Since being on medication and therapy I have taken the effort in waving/smiling at neighbors as well as using my snow blower to plow the sidewalks "for them" as a little neighborly gesture when we have heavy snowfall to be friendly and little things like that. After studying a lot of online information regarding collapse during a SHTF scenario it seems clear that a "bugging in" approach is the most feasible and safe option for survival and safety during social fallout. I'm just in this position where I don't really know how to begin building these bridges because of my lack of social skills and overthinking others' perception of me.
Are there any resources I can research to just...learn basic human social skills? I mean I'm a friendly and personable person now lmao I just don't know how to gauge social danger because I grew up being so numb to harm and danger after a point. I have poor "intuition" a lot of the time and find myself needing to overthink situations in frustration instead of having more of an "instinct" that others may have more naturally. I've read "the gift of fear" a few times and I think its helped a lot but still.
Should I be trying to form some type of neighborly friendship with the guy next door? Or my adjacent neighbors? How can I go about that after taking a year + to warm up and start acting like a normal person? Is it safer to just keep the distance as things start to accelerate?
I acknowledge that I don't really know any of these people and just have observed their behavior as a neighbor so I'm really unsure of how to proceed. The neighbors in the double houses on my side of the street seem "nicer" and more young/lower-middle class and the neighbors across the street in the single houses appear to be older and wealthier. A few of them have gigantic "pavement princess" style trucks that look very expensive and new with the typical punisher skull/thin blue line/"we the people"/American flag made out of ammunition type of stickers all over their stuff.
Many of the single homes also have expensive and loud motorcycles that they will sit on just revving and driving around the neighborhood slowly seemingly just seeking noise/attention during the spring when the snow clears. They're also the ones setting off crazy "bomb" style fireworks for like a full month around the 4th of july well into the early morning. My neighbors in the double houses in general seem to act a lot more "low key" and considerate. Again I acknowledge that these are pre-conceived notions and assumptions but how do I proceed here with community building? I feel a little uncomfortable trusting the wealthy families with all this aggressive macho shit all over their flashy vehicles they use to bother neighbors to have the best interests of others in mind during a SHTF scenario. The houses across the street are much bigger and more expensive and they have huge lawns that they get up-kept professionally so I don't think this is a "lower-income person trying to seem rich" scenario and rather a noticeable income gap.
Following "grey man" advice I've read online I try to present as apolitical/politically neutral or disinterested when about in public so It's not like I'm gawking (I do live in a red state as I said so i would be gawking constantly if I did so at every 'right wing' appearing display) but I feel like its a red flag to be anti-social in the way a lot of these wealthy homes have been. What is the best path forward? Should I strive to build a FULL neighborhood community network? Should I just try to build rapport with my immediate neighbors on my left and right? Should I continue keeping to myself and just trying to keep my head down? How do I break the ice with people I've been giving the cold shoulder to for so long? Should I even bother?
I know this is a fucking book by this point but these issues have been really weighing on me and I would be so grateful for any general advice or direction I should take from you informed people here.
I have a lot of space in my house that I'm planning on using to grow food indoors. We both work from home so I have a unique position with my schedule. We don't have a gun but would like one eventually as some kind of defensive backup plan. We would also like to get a dog eventually. I am not writing this from a me-against-them paranoid perspective, I would rather have a cooperative and supportive community to participate in but am totally unsure of how to go about developing one.
If you've read all of this I deeply appreciate your time and DEEPLY appreciate any advice or input.

I've done research and watched videos but info specifically around karting are harder to find compared to cars and games.
Background, I've been playing arcade racers for 25 years, I've been playing sim-arcade racers for about 15 years (Grid, F1, Gran Turismo), and I've been watching F1 for 15 years. So I understand all the main concepts like:- Slow in fast out- Enter wide, clip the apex, and exit wide- Dont slide- Smoother steering, and acceleration it's better for tires and speed- I understand trail braking (but with ABS off in games I haven't quite got it)
The point is I'm not a total noob, I went to an indoor karting track with a group of friends my wife, and my wife's aunt (who used to kart race as a hobby). Out of my friends, I was the only one who played racing games.
At the end of the day, i was the second fastest, with my wife aunt the fastest (as expected).
BUT what killed me is that I expected that she would use the same line i would use and just be a little braver on the brakes, a little more precise with the steering, and little better on the throttle. However she used a different line specifically there is a part where there is 3 hairpins in a row separated by very tiny sort straights. and she took a slightly shallower line in and drifted around the corners, and then i wasnt close enough to see the exits.
For anyone interested: that is the track layout with the 3 hairpins in the center of the track
In the videos I've watched people slide around certain corners in karting and when would you do this? and when would you not take the 'traditional' wide line? Outdoor vs indoor? Hairpins vs shallower corners? in this video at 7:55 he talks about using the brakes on the rear to slide, and that results in him not having to turn in this video at 2:57 he talks about the 3 quarter rule and how not using all the track on turn in is actually faster
I need help understanding how karting differs from cars. i am going karting again with some better people at an out door track and i need to figure this out.

Enough with the Misleading Test Results PR: Mullen needs to release the full test reports
Mullen’s “Business Update” PR from yesterday shows yet again why it is imperative for the full test report for the EMM to be released. As I've pointed out previously, the test methodology makes a critical difference in determining the validity of the results, as it provides more adequate context for evaluating any figures that get reported. This is even more crucial when the company presents figures inaccurately in its public statements, as we have in this PR:
• Hardge provided test results from Element Materials Technology that were purchased by Hardge Global Technologies, LLC, with a report date of May 14, 2021. The results of these tests on a Chevrolet Bolt EV provided an average increased battery capacity of 38.2%
• Subsequent testing by Hardge and Mullen engineers on the Mullen EV Cargo Van vehicle on January 20, 2023, with the Energy Management Module (“EMM”) installed, resulted in an increased battery capacity of 44%
I was perplexed by how Mullen stated in the PR that the EMM somehow provided “an average increased battery capacity of 38.2%” for the Chevy Bolt and a 44% increase for the Mullen EV Cargo van. These are nonsensical statements, as there is no means to significantly increase the energy capacity of a battery without modifications to the battery itself. You can increase the efficiency of the system and allow the energy in the battery to do more for a longer period of time, but you can’t just increase the capacity of the battery by any meaningful amount.
I was looking back through some notes and I believe I have identified where the 38.2% and 44% values most likely came from. The PR indicates that the results came from the May 14, 2021 test report done by Element Materials Technology. Consider now this June 4, 2021 article on Hardge’s Black Box Technology:
The first test of Black Box Technology revealed that a Chevy Bolt in high drive mode with cruise control set at 40MPH, with the car’s radio lights and air conditioning turned on, ran for an equivalent of 270 driven miles. At the conclusion of the test the car battery still had 37.6 percent battery power life remaining. The second test of Black Box Technology revealed that by turning on the car and putting it in high drive mode while using the cruise control at 40MPH, with the car’s radio lights and air conditioning turned on, the car ran for an equivalent of 270 driven miles. At the conclusion of the test the car battery still had 38.8 percent battery power life remaining.
This is most likely describing aspects of the testing done by Element just a few weeks prior. Note the battery percentage remaining figures shown at the end of the two tests. I’ll give you one guess what the average of 37.6% and 38.8% is. The chance that this is just coincidence is slim.
So the 38.2% figure stated in the Mullen PR isn’t an average of the “increased battery capacity” (which as stated earlier is nonsense), it’s just an average of the battery charge remaining at the end of the two tests done on the Chevy Bolt.
The 44% figure for the EV Cargo van is more iffy, but here is my guess. It so happened that some people on ST were resharing an old picture from Hardge showing the dash of the Mullen EV van.
The picture (with my annotations) happened to show that the battery charge remaining was 44%. Now, with no other context or additional information, it is purely speculation on my part that this is where the 44% battery capacity value in Mullen’s PR came from. But given how badly the PR writer misunderstood the data to write the 38.2% statement, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this is the source.
These are the same kind of nonsensical statements that Mullen made in its PR after the BIC Battery testing, where Michery simply stated that the test showed 343 Amp-hr for the cell, a value that only tells us the capacity of the battery cell and nothing about the actual performance or capability of the battery.
This is why I keep harping on the importance for Mullen to release the full test reports (both for the EMM testing as well as the BIC SSB testing), so that people can properly see the results within the full context and associated methodology, rather than only seeing these badly flubbed PR misrepresentations of the results from PR writers who don’t seem to properly understand what all these numbers mean.

Real World Chevy Bolt Extreme Range Results

As I’ve explained in past posts, driving at lower speeds can significantly increase the range of an EV. Since the testing was done by Element Materials, it is reasonable to assume that it was an indoor dyno test, and per the article we know that it was conducted at a constant 40 MPH, which is close to an ideal speed for maximum EV range (esp. without drag from air resistance). Assuming that the Bolt was indeed driven for 270 miles on the dyno with an average of 38.2% charge remaining gives us a calculated EV range of about 437 miles (which is close to the 431 miles stated in Mullen’s April 20 PR).
While this may seem impressive compared to the 259 miles EPA rated range for the current Chevy Bolt, is it really an indication that the EMM is doing something amazing to allow the vehicle to travel that distance? The answer, as you might expect, is NO, because others have accomplished similar or better in real world driving conditions using stock Chevy Bolts.
For example, in 2017 an Opel Ampera-E (European name for Chevy Bolt) was driven for 755 km (469 miles) on a single charge on a one-way trip through Germany. And this is the first generation Bolt, with a smaller 60 kWh battery, and EPA rated range of 238 miles. So this team was able to nearly DOUBLE the rated range for the Bolt by driving as efficiently as possible, no EMM attached.
This Chevy Bolt owner in Korea drove 388 miles on a single charge on actual expressway driving, and documented his entire trip on video.
His trip included multiple hours driving at 80 km/h (50 MPH) on the expressway, as well as accelerating and stopping in the city, which uses up more energy than travelling at a constant steady speed. These factors, plus the added energy losses from drag at the higher expressway speeds, account for the lower final range result compared to Hardge’s indoor dyno testing.
These real world tests demonstrate that the results being reported by Mullen do not require some EMM device to achieve, which casts serious doubt in my mind that the EMM itself is accomplishing much at all. But having the full testing reports to see what controlled comparisons (if any) to stock would still be helpful in evaluating the claims being made.

NOTE: This is an old draft from like a year ago. But i wanted to share anyway. He might be a control legend, or a skirmisher. Pyrrhon; Defender; Identity Unkown
Backstory: I would want this character to have been the mentor to Crypto, Tae Joon Park, on how to navigate world with a target on his back. He too was seen as a threat to the syndicate. Somehow they found a link between Crypto and Pyrrhon, and they forced Crypto, by threatening to kill Mila, to set up a meeting between them, to capture pyrrhon.
Pyrrhon was suspicious of the interaction. The meeting takes place. Crypto waits for him to reveal himself... (im not much of a story teller, but yada yada yada, he joins the games)
Kit: Passive; Lending Hand: Can give a percentage of his ultimate cool down to his fellow teammates.
Tactical; Scepter: Deploys a scrambler node that will negate scans and electronics within a 10m radius. Can be used indefinitely, however when destroyed, it will be a 40sec cooldown.
Ultimate; Keiko; Emit 3 repeated concussion blasts from scepter. will stun all players, and leave enemies visually disoriented. Any enemy that is hit from this blast will be have a snapshot scan each time they are hit with a blast.
Further Explanations and mechanics: Lending hand; Can only use his passive when tactical is not in use. activate your ultimate, this will enable lending hand mode, walk up to a teammate activate ultimate again. NOTE: Because this input will override using an ultimate accelerant. This while start the ultimate charge transfer. The teammate has to be within 5m to continue receiving ultimate charge. Once outside of the radius, lending hand will stop.
Tactical for scans: If a player is scanned within the radius of the scepter, the scepter will absorb the scan. On the enemies pov, The radius of the scepter will be highlighted. This tactical will act like a wall more than an orb. The best way to visualize this is to shine a light on a suspended ball. The ball and the shadow it casts is what will block the scan.
Tactical electronics: The 10m radius will disable electronics. Example: amped wall, electric fence, electric wall, crypto drone(if inside radius), gibby bubble, ash tactical, smart pistol(lock on), etc.
Ultimate: will cause the same stun as a catlyst wall, or bang ult. - can add a visual or audio wind up time to tweak power.

Now to get into the important stuff. Creating a character in a tabletop game is a multi-faceted process that should take into account your own personality as well as what the people you're playing with wish to do in the game. Here is a breakdown of what can be done in Fallout Heartland.
When first creating a character for Fallout Heartland, it is important for everybody in your session to be aware of what you’re capable of. The game’s Overseer (also called a Dungeon Master) will have to keep track of each of these stats, but it is you who decides them and uses these numbers to build a character of your own.
First thing to decide is your S.P.E.C.I.A.L.! The number of points you choose at the start reflects how easy or difficult you want the game to be. Opinions may vary, but I believe that:
Easy - 45 points
Normal - 40 points
Hard - 35 points
Tag Skills are important because they help you make your character more unique. If your S.P.E.C.I.A.L is a summary of your character’s general ability, think of your Tag Skills as deciding what you specialize in. Pick any three of the following skills to focus your character’s abilities:
S: Athletics, Close Quarters
P: Driving, Explosives, Investigation, Security
E: Survival
C: Barter, Deception, Persuasion
I: Academics, Medicine, Repair, Science
A: Firearms, Sneak
L: Gambling
Close Quarters combines Melee and Unarmed Firearms combines Guns and Energy Weapons
Primary Stats
Once you have distributed your points and picked your tag skills, you can choose your race and figure out your primary stats:

Once that is done, you are ready to start the game! In this tabletop game, the focus is for players to feel like their character is their living avatar in the world. With that in mind, there are not strict rules about leveling. The Overseer decides when a character has earned an experience point and has flexibility in deciding how many are needed for a level up. In general, I think one XP per major story event is appropriate, with three being needed to go from Level 1 to Level 2, four to go from Level 2 to Level 3, five to go from Level 3 to Level 4, etc. is the most balanced, but I would call these guidelines more than hard rules.
Every two levels, your character should choose one Perk, generally based on your S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats and Tag Skills. This is to make each character progression feel like a personal journey and to differentiate playstyles.
