2023.06.06 18:30 VentItWithSafty I am the worst, dead-beat, pathetic husband and father that has been and will ever walk on this earth by killing the love of my life and the mother of our child.

I give no fucks where you post this. I just want this off my chest. I just need to vent.1
My wife was 26 and I am 29. Last year, we held our final conversation about having children. When we first met, we talked about wanting kids one day. We talked about the genders, names, what they would look like, the whole 9 yards. Everytime she never failed to metion how she would not pull through being pregnant or PPD with her anxiety and depression disorder. That being pregnant would be a death wish for her and how we should talk about getting a surrogate or just adopting. These talks always ended with me being angry and telling her that I don't want to be with anyone who is not willing to carry our child and how I don't feel comfortable with the idea that some stranger lives away from us with our child for 9-10mnths and possibly harm our baby by doing things that could be dangerous. Several years later and after sometime we've been married, we finally got off the pill and got pregnant. The whole pregnancy was filled with the worst panic attacks I had ever seen her have. It was daily hospital trips for her attacks and constant doctors appoinment for things she thinks is wrong with the baby or pregnancy.
Ultimately, it made her go into labor too soon and our son was born two months too early and living in the NICU until 2 weeks ago. I was beyond pissed off at my wife for putting our child in danger with all the stress she had "caused" and lost it on her, which I regretted instantly because it's no ones fault and no one can control these things. I told her we might as well have a stanger carry our kids because they have a better chance at surviving with them than their own mother. I also said she only has herself in mind by allowing her issues to continue instead of stopping them for the sake of our baby. Of couse, this made everything so much more worse. She never left the hospital, cried all of the time, said sorry to our son and to god. She stopped eating all together, lost intrest in everything, and no longer came to me for any of her panic attacks or problems. 3 weeks ago, me and the staff begged her to go home to shower and rest. She screamed at us that she refuses to let anything happen to our child again and leave him. I held her as she cried and calmed her down and told her I would stay up at the hospital all night so she can take a break and rest. I took her home, got her in the shower, gave her the meds for ppd she'd just got, held her for an hour in bed, and left for the hospital. The following morning I came home and found her but she was already gone. She left a note saying how sorry she was for everything.
If I had just listened to her years ago, trust her, and not encouraged her to suffer alone she would be here with me and our sweet son. I would have the love of my life and she could finally hold and feed our son without all thoes cords and know that she is a fantastic mother and wife. Men, I don't fucking care if you are married or not. Listen to them if they say they can't do something.

2023.06.06 18:25 SuchPig Failing Upwards Chapter 24

Universe by U/BlueFishCake
Previous Chapter
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I don't look like a sad orphan! I think.
Sean was frantically looking through his extremely limited supply of "nice" clothes. Haali had reminded him that while they were proper business attire, they weren't exactly glamorous or flattering. Sean had no use for fancy clothes, so he really didn't have any. Now here he was kicking himself for not having at least one nice shirt.
He leaned over and looked at himself in the mirror and groaned, "Damnit I have no idea what I'm doing. Reflection what do I do?".
He and his reflection both shrugged, "Ugh, some use you are.".
He stuck his head back into his closet, hoping that somehow a perfect article of clothing had somehow appeared there. Coincidentally he remembered an old shirt he had "borrowed" from his dad. He hadn't noticed it before, he kept it tucked away in a box at the top of the closet and he often forgot it existed. Besides, he virtually never looked through his clothes with this level of intensity.
As he reached up to the box, he began to feel increasingly ridiculous. It was one of his dad's old shirts from his partying days back when he was a little younger than Sean. Suffice it to say, the garment could be officially qualified as "old as shit".
Sean initially took it as a joke; something to wear to 80's parties or when he just wanted to look absurd. Fashion was an ever-changing force and so much time had passed since this shirt had been woven. You could turn a lot of heads for all the wrong reasons wearing this thing. But it did have one thing going for it: it strangely reminded him of something Haali would wear.
It didn't look like his fluffy pirate shirt or anything, but it had that same "I'm here to party 'till I die look". Sean fumbled around until his hand met the box, with an odd degree of reverence he slid the box off the shelf and he sat it on his bed. He flipped the lid off with one finger and winced when he saw it again.
I forgot how outrageous this thing is...
The "Turquiose Menace" as he had come to call it, would arise once again. He held it up; he smiled, then cringed, then weakly smiled once more. He held it over himself in the mirror and tilted his head from side to side, trying to make a decision. After a few more seconds of looking, he shrugged, nodded, "It'll have to do...". He gently laid it on his bed and went to take a shower.
////////////////////////////////////////////
Haruk had been enjoying herself getting ready for tonight. She was smiling and running a brush through her hair as she hummed to herself. She had invested in a full body mirror and was enjoying the sight of herself looking so good. She was ecstatic to have an excuse to get all dressed up and look sexy. While she was quite satisfied with her appearance, she had a growing sense of dread in the back of her mind concerning Sean and Xerya.
Goddess I hope those two show up wearing something half way decent.
She stopped brushing her long hair for a moment to rotate around and check out her back side. She smiled and giggled a bit, she loved getting everything about this. She spun back around and pushed a lock of hair over her ear, she then resumed brushing her hair. As she raised the brush for another stroke, she froze.
I... I better go check on Xerya.
/////////////////////////////////////////////
Xerya wasn't used to this feeling, and she really didn't like it. She was someone who always had her shit together, and now was one of the very few times in her life where she didn't. The sliding door to her closet in her room was wide open. She had her arms outstretched, resting on the opposing sides of the closet. She had a thin sheen of stress sweat coating her face and her eyes were widened by a low grade panic attack.
Nice? What does that even mean? I think a tank top and sweat pants are nice. I know that's not what they mean, but shit, I don't really have anything to work with here!
She frantically shoved her hangers from side to side as she searched for some forgotten article of clothing. The real kick in the tits was Haali's specific ban on wearing uniforms. When she had first gotten word of their dinner date, that's exactly where her mind first went; hell, that’s what she always wore when she had to dress up. They might have been a little stiff and up tight, but it gave her a decent set of clothes that were accepted in most places.
That devious little imp had now starved her of her silver bullet for fashion. So now she was trapped in a clothesless wasteland of her own making, and she was running out of time. She was about to double down on her growing anxiety by panicking about the time but was interrupted by a knock at the door.
Several aggressive thuds on the door were followed by Haruk's voice. Her tone was a blend of teasing and legitimate concern, "Hey Xerya you alive in there? You didn't get crushed under your own tits did ya?".
Thank the goddess!
Xerya bounded over to her door, her massive jugs bouncing around with every step. She had been topless while trying to decide what to wear. She flung the door open wearing an uncharacteristically neurotic look of fear. She was greeted by the image of an irritatingly sexy and well-dressed Haruk.
At first, she thought Haruk had magically grown several inches, but then as she looked down she noticed the shoes she was wearing. A pair of high heeled sandals were strapped to her feet. She was adorned by a cobalt blue dress that clung to her hips and ass and flowed freely as it cut off just above her ankles. It accented her flat tummy and the curves of her breasts as two straps tied together behind her neck to hold the whole thing up.
She had shiny earrings on and her hair had been expertly curled and styled. Her long glossy ponytail cascaded over her left shoulder. The blue of her highlights blended with the blue of her dress...and at that point Xerya realized she was staring. At Haruk of all people.
Haruk grinned and gently slid her ponytail over her shoulder in a practiced motion, "Damn I must look good, I'm even making girls stare.".
Xerya's cheeks became tinged with blue, "I-uhh- no I wasn't!".
Haruk rolled her eyes, "Yeah ok whatever.". Her eyes then crept downward to the blue capped mountains hanging off Xerya's chest, "So uhhh", she pointed at Xerya's tits, waving her finger in a little circle, "What's going on here?".
Xerya's blush intensified, she felt vulnerable. Not because of her tits hanging out, but because she didn't have a plan. Not having a plan was not how she lived her life. "Haruk I don't know what to do! You and Sean said no uniforms and I have nothing else but my awesome comfortable clothes.".
Haruk pushed past Xerya and invaded her room while shaking her head, "My goddess...".
For such a clever and punctual person, Xerya really did live like an animal. There was clutter and random bits of clothing all over the place. Haruk spun around in place marveling at the duality of Xerya's existence, "How do you live like this?".
Xerya swung her door shut and stepped to face Haruk. She ran her hands down her cheeks, "It's worse than usual. If you can't tell, I'm sort of freaking out. What the deep do I wear? I don't know how to look good!".
Haruk didn't want to ruin her makeup, but she managed a modest face palm anyways. She chuckled lightly, "You already look good you idiot. You just need to learn how to show it!".
Xerya flailed her arms in frustration, "With what though? Look in that closet? Would you honestly allow me to wear anything in there to dinner? We both know you're going the be the self-proclaimed fashion police here.".
Haruk smiled and pointed right at Xerya's face, "And don't you forget it.".
Haruk quickly spun around and began to pick through Xerya's closet. A mere few seconds later she spun around looking like she just saw a ghost, "You're fucked.".
Xerya mirrored Haruk's terror, "...what... do I do?".
Haruk looked at her omni pad, "Well we could try to run out real fast a-".
"We don't have time!" Xerya shouted.
Haruk stood silently with her chin resting on the thumb and index finger. One of her long legs pumped rhythmically as if generating thoughts. She looked up to Xerya with a somber expression, "There's only one thing we can do then.".
Xerya was desperate, she'd try anything at this point. Sean would be arriving in a few minutes, and she was out of ideas. Her voice was full of desperation, "Whatever it is, I'll do it!".
Haruk nodded, "Come to my room, it’s up to my closet to save you.".
Haruk strode out without another word. Her mind was focused solely on the task at hand; and it was quite a task. Trying to fit Xerya into her clothes sounded impossible, but tonight they needed to accomplish exactly that.
Haruk opened Xerya's door, then her own a few seconds later. Xerya stood there looking across the hall with her hands hanging at her sides. She whispered quietly and fearfully, "But... how will I fit?".
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Sean was powerwalking his way through the corridors of the building. The black eyes of the marines were glued to him even more than usual. His shirt did not button up all the way, so he had been flashing his chest to everyone he crossed paths with. His face was burning red from all the attention.
It had been a constant stream of cat calls the whole way there. Many of the faces he recognized simply from being on the base a lot, and then there were the faces that belonged to his students. It was easy enough to ignore the strangers and run away. It was much harder to ignore Shinal stepping out of her room and staring at his chest while licking her lips.
Sean watched her nipples harden as she cooed, "You're looking... sharp today Mr. Warwick.". Sean felt obligated to say something on account of being her teacher. He smiled weakly and gave a quick, "Hi Shinal, see ya tomorrow.". He didn't even stop moving to say it. He blew past her as she leaned out her door to shamelessly stare at his ass like many others were.
Shinal pivoted back into her doorway and whispered to herself, "See you tomorrow...". She smiled up at the ceiling and disappeared back into her room.
Sean was grateful that he could see Xerya's door coming into view down the hallway. He never thought drowning in pussy could be a bad thing, until now. He laughed internally at the thought of a giant blue vagina popping out of a door somewhere and swallowing him whole like some sort of "Penis Fly-trap". He felt safer already as he gently knocked on Xerya's door.
His budding sense of safety quickly faded away as no one answered the door. That was very unlike Xerya to not stick to the plan.
I hope everything is ok. What if she's sick, or in trouble with work? That would fuck up the whole night. She better not, but she's better than that. What if something happened to her? Oh fuck maybe she's hurt... or worse!?
God damnit why does my brain always go straight to this insane shit!?
Sean looked to his right and saw several marines mingling about farther down the hall and trying very hard not to look like they were staring. Sean wanted nothing more than to disappear into Xerya's room, and now for some unknown reason he couldn't.
Fuck it, plan B.
He turned around and banged on Haruk's door in a decidedly more panicked fashion. A few seconds of insane daydreaming later and the door opened, revealing an exceptional looking Haruk.
Sean looked up extra high to meet her eyes, "Woah...".
Haruk smiled brightly and blushed, "Hi, Sean you look so...".
She bit her lip as her eyes glued themselves to his chest, "...good".
The reality of Sean's situation then dawned on Haruk. She leaned past Sean and looked into the hall; her suspicions were confirmed by the presence of the unwanted competition out there. She wrapped an arm around Sean's waist and quickly pulled him inside, "You beautiful idiot, get in here!".
Sean paced forward a bit and turned to watch Haruk push her door shut. Haruk put her hands on her hips, "You should have called one of us! You went through all that alone?".
Sean looked at the floor, "Ehh yeah, to both of those things, sorry.".
Haruk bent down and hugged Sean, "No I'm sorry. I'm not trying to be mean. I just want you to be safe.".
Sean turned and kissed her cheek as he wrapped his arms around her, "Well here I am in one piece, also, holy shit you look gorgeous!".
He broke out of her hug and stepped back to fit all of Haruk in his vision. He looked at her from head to toe, "You look so good I almost just wanna skip dinner.".
Haruk swooned, "If any of us looks good, its you! I've never seen a shirt like that. It's very se- um it looks so good on you!".
Sean laughed as he remembered how he dressed, "This thing practically came out of a time machine. It used to belong to my dad back when he was my age. I kept it just for fun, oddly enough it kind of reminded me of the shirts Haali wears.".
Haruk winked, "Well, whatever it is, it’s working.".
Sean couldn't help but to run a hand along Haruk's tight thigh, "Yeah, so is this.".
He looked up at Haruk and they swapped not so innocent smiles. Sean then membered why be was here, "So where's Xerya?".
Haruk looked to the corner of her room where her closet resided. Their rooms may not have had bathrooms in them, but they generous closets. She gently and quite reluctantly guided Sean's hand off of her thigh, "Let me go check. We had a bit of a clothing situation.".
Sean shrugged and chuckled, "Umm, ok. I hope she's about ready.".
As Haruk approached the closet Sean heard Xerya's voice, "I almost ready I swearing! And hi Sean!".
Sean smiled and looked toward the closet, "Everything ok in there?".
Haruk looked into her closet, "Oh my goddess!".
As she rounded the corner, she was greeted with the sight of Xerya annihilating her stretchiest dress. It was the only thing she had a hope of fitting into, and fitting was a very relative term in this case. She was spilling out of the top and bottom of Haruk's poor white dress.
She was frantically stuffing her tits back into the extremely low neckline. Doing so caused it to ride up her legs and damn near cause her ass to fall out the bottom. Her tits took up so much room in the dress there really wasn't much room left for the rest of her.
Xerya looked at Haruk with a worried expression, "Hold on I just need another second.". She reached down and pulled the bottom to cover more of her ludicrously thick thighs.
Haruk's looked shocked, "You're exploding out of it! By the Empress! You look like you're going to an erotica convention!".
Xerya turned to her looking terrified, "So, it's not working? We don't have time for anything else! And I feel ridiculous!".
Haruk was exasperated, "I mean, it's working, but not for the right reasons.".
Sean overheard this exchange, and he couldn't help but have a look. He peeked around the corner and his jaw hit the floor. Xerya was rocking a beyond skintight white dress that honestly couldn't contain her assets. He got there just in time to see her adjust her bra straps which made the dress ride back up her thighs again.
Xerya saw Sean emerge and blushed like she did the first time they met. She shyly put her hands behind her back and put on a nervous smile, "Hi".
Sean smiled ear to ear while fucking her with his eyes, "Hello to you.".
Haruk rolled her eyes, "See, he basically wants to fuck you right here. Only problem is, now we gotta go have dinner with our boss's, boss's, boss.".
Both Sean and Xerya wilted a bit, but very quickly their eyes began to slither all over each other again. Xerya huffed, "How do you wear these things Haruk?".
Haruk crossed her arms, "Well not like you, that’s for sure.".
Sean squeezed by Haruk, he was compelled to feel Xerya's touch. He literally couldn't stay away, "Xerya you look incredible.".
She quickly responded to his approach by kneeling down and kissing him. Sean allowed his hands to roam all over her, "Just uhhh, try not to pop out at the dinner table. I feel like that would make things maybe just a bit awkward.".
Xerya looked mortified, then relaxed a little, "Yes, I really do not want sex dinner.".
Xerya stood back up and Sean guided her and Haruk towards the door, "Yeah sex is for dessert, not dinner.".
As he said that he made eye contact with Haruk and licked his lips with a devilish smile. Haruk turned blue and bit her lip in anticipation.
They got to the door and Sean put his hand on the handle, "Ok, are you two as nervous as I am?”.
Haruk enthusiastically said, “Oh yeah.”.
Xerya, looking quite nervous, quietly and rapidly nodded.
Sean turned the handle and swung the door open, “Alright, lets try to survive this thing.”.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The exo hangar was a loud, well-lit place. Most of the time. Now it was dark except for the lights in bay one. The building was eerily quiet except for the occasional clang or whirring of hand tools. As always, the place stunk of grease, coolant, and sweat.
There was one other sound that broke the pattern of mechanical noises.
"BROTHER FUCKING DAUGHTER OF A CUNT!"
Khe'siri leaned against the wrench and shoved with all her freakish strength. The sweat poured off her brow as she grunted and strained. She adjusted her footing, tightened her grip on the wrench and pushed again. Alas the stubborn bolt refused to turn.
She stepped back and shook the numbness out of her hands, "Goddess damned piece a shit! What crawled up your ass?".
She sat down on a crate and took a long sip off her water bottle. She scowled at the bolt; she hated it. She wanted to defeat it... to destroy it.
I don't care if it takes me all night. That little fucker is coming out of there.
Anyone else who saw her like this would assume she was miserable. That wasn't the case though. It was dark, quiet except for her, and there was no one else around. No people, no bullshit, just her and her work. This was her happy place.
Happy of course was a relative term. Khe'siri didn't have the broadest spectrum of emotions out there. She was angry more often than she wasn't, she was infamous for her fiery temper and foul mouth. A quiet calm was about as close to happy as she could go. Despite her swearing and endless threats to the inanimate objects around her, she was almost enjoying herself.
She stood back up and wiped her hands on her coveralls. As usual the top half was tied around her waist leaving just a tight black tank top covering her chest. Sort of. She once again glared at the bolt on the exo's ankle actuator, "Ok smart ass, you just earned yourself a date with the breaker.".
She reached behind her toolbox and retrieved a five-foot-long purple metal bar. It had a modular slot on the end to fit virtually any kind of nut, bolt, or screw in the Imperium. She had made it herself and was immensely proud of it. She was the only one who ever used it. Not only were many others afraid to interact with her, but they could barely even lift it anyways. It even felt heavy to her, and she loved it dearly.
As she wrapped her meaty hands around it, she looked at it with true affection. Love never brought her anything but trouble in the past. Love with people anyways, but the breaker only ever brought her joy. It was basically her boyfriend.
She had a joyous glint in her eye as she approached the bolt once more, "Alright you little shit, looks like we're doing this the hard way.".
She found herself holding back a smile. Despite the joy she felt wielding the breaker, she really hated that bolt.
Without any preamble she slotted in the proper head and placed it over the bolt. She had the bar angled across her chest so she could channel all her might into it. Between that and the massive mechanical advantage provided by its length, no nut or bolt had ever resisted its power. She was confident this one would be broken like all the others.
"TIME TO GET FUCKED"
Her biceps swelled as she dumped all her power into the breaker. This was the part where the bolt was supposed to turn. Where she got to win. To have at least one little thing in her life turn out her way. But it did not.
She grunted, those grunts turned into growls. Her frustration and rage crescendoed into outright yells, "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!". Almost as if the universe wanted to kick her while she was down, she caught a glimpse of herself reflected on a deactivated data pad as she screamed that question.
She let go of the breaker and thew her arms into the air. She was still looking at her reflection, "What the fuck is wrong with you?".
This was supposed to be the one thing she was good at. Her current failure reminded her of her abysmal scores in that stupid English class she had to take. Not that she really gave a shit about it, but she needed to pass. After a prior incident involving a gratuitous lack of self-control and a dumbass fellow mechanic, Sergeant Revni had creatively punished Khe'siri by enrolling her in English classes on base.
Now she was stuck in that class with a bunch of hopeless cunts who think they'll be able to fuck their teacher. Not only did she not like her classmates, but that human language was stupid. It's hard to learn a language when you hate it and the class.
Then there was that teacher of theirs. He was always parading around the room acting like he was everyone's friend with his tight little pants and fat ass. Guys only ever brought her trouble. Now she had to sit there and listen to a preachy little human male teach her his primitive language.
And now this bolt.
Thinking about the mountain of failures that was her life caused her temper to flare once more. She stormed over to the data pad and threw a punch fueled by her searing anger. The screen instantly cracked into a spiderweb pattern, and the entire back side now domed outwards. Not feeling satisfied, she grabbed the tablet and launched it across the room where it exploded against the opposite wall.
"FUCK!"
She stood there panting and looking at the floor while the hurricane in her mind gradually wound down. She turned to head back to the breaker for one last final try when she noticed something.
Oh my fuck.
The entire casing for that ankle joint was bent. It would be impossible to pull the bolts now. Fixing a broken arm had just turned into brain surgery. Khe'siri gritted her teeth and sneered, "Oh just wait till I find the bitch that drives this thing..."

2023.06.06 18:17 Choochruka PSA: Impossible to reach customer support.

If you are trying to decide: Choose Xbox vs. PS
I’ve tried almost a week to contact support by phone and chat. 50+ times. Right at open. All day.
I need to remove my 2FA because it’s linked to a Ukrainian cell phone and moved to America.
I left a war zone - I didn’t think to change my cell phone. I didn’t even have a number to change it to. I don’t have my other number anymore or roaming.
I’ve been with PlayStation for 15 years. $1500 in digital games. God forbid the subscription payments or replacement controllers. It’s my second console I’ve bought.
I would rather give up all the money I’ve spent than ever again trust PlayStation.
They have the absolute worst customer service of any game related company I’ve dealt with. They just ask your info and instantly tell you there’s no help for you or automated tell you on the phone and instantly drop your call.
PlayStation is failing for years. From the console production, to game support to account support.
Don’t do it.

2023.06.06 18:15 InsaneGunChemist Angels of Iron

Those sentient beings who have survived the horrors of the Hreth, the Kel'gan, and the Qurrelm have found light, and hope, and peace with their Human friends. Though for some, the scars, and the darkness, run too deep to ever heal. The trauma to their bodies, and minds, irreparable, despite the best efforts of the Angels. It is these who take up arms, and join them in their cause, donning the black armor of those who will bear the crime of slaughter, to guard those who would heal. They join the front ranks, those who can stand. And for those who cannot, other ways are found, to offer them closure.
/////
Finally, the Kel'gan warriors had reached the human lines, and the real battle could begin. They had learned to respect their adversaries, a rare treat to find on the battlefield, but in the crush of the roaring brawl, the Humans died like any others before the raw force of the Kel'gan war machine. On the offensive, the Humans had proven tenacious, brutal, clever, and relentless, nearly unstoppable, even for the military champions of the Conclave. But here, on the defensive, the Humans were rendered far less of a threat, their hurriedly dropped infantry unsupported by their more creative war machines, and hamstrung by the cowering slaves behind them.
To their credit, not one of the Humans had backed down, or fled. All had proven themselves worthy in the eyes of the warlord, and so, in the smoking debris, the largest of the Kel'gan horde stepped forward, his warriors stilling, the slaughter of the melee pausing for a moment. The Humans, sensing the change, paused, weapons never lowering, but the onslaught did slacken around him. "Humans! You have proven worthy adversaries, a tenacious opponent! We recognize, and honor this. However, you are ill equipped for this fight, and we would hate to see your lives wasted so! Step aside, let us reclaim the slaves, and we will allow you to withdraw peacefully, so we may meet again under more honorable conditions!" His voice carries across the field, amplified by the speakers mounted along his carapace, and the Humans, for once, seem uncertain. They glance at each other, soft whispers along the line, before a single figure stands from one of the hastily dug pits forming their fighting line.
"How about a counter offer? You go FUCK YOURSELF, YOU SLAVING BITCH!" The fury and sound escaping the tiny form is enough to startle the Kel'gan horde for a moment, and then the world shakes as another of their drop pods slams to the ground, obscuring all in dust. Silence reigns for a moment, as every warrior on the field attempts to regain their sight and hearing, before a new voice, metallic and cold, echoes across the plains.
"Archangel deployment complete. Diagnostics complete. Human Casualties detected. Human Casualties exceed acceptable threshold. Initiating Ragnarok Protocols." The speaker, a massive, armored construct strides from the wreckage of the pod, a single, massive fist flexing, as the other arm ends in a rotary cannon. Before they can process the words, the Archangel unit has reached the warlord, and a single backhanded swing is enough to crush the Kel'gan carapace, and brutalize the insides. The silence reigns for just a beat longer, confusion, and terror warring through every sapient on the field, witnessing the advent of a new type of war, before the Archangel unit howls in fury, and the once brutalized slave begins its March of Retribution, clad in the Iron skin of the Angels.
/////
"Truly, these Humans are nothing so special. Only one remarkable deviation in technology. No remarkable physicality aside from endurance. Their brains indicate average, and even above average self preservation instincts. And yet they tear apart the Kel'gan warriors. They traumatized the Hreth Slave breakers. They outsmart our greatest thinkers and planners. There is an unknown quantity in their evolution that disrupts all predictions. We believe it is what they call 'Spite'. It requires further research and understanding." Beltin Horrax, head researcher of the Qurrelm to the Conclave.

2023.06.06 18:14 Lord_Guyis Season 2 Episode 22 Anime and Manga Differences

Alright, here are the differences and comparisons between the anime and manga for season 2 episode 22. Standard disclaimers: 1. this is pretty much spoiler-free, I will only talk about the portion of content from the manga that was covered in the episode. 2. a difference one way or the other is not inherently a good or bad thing. I'll probably dislike the anime's changes, but those are my judgements, you have yours. 3. I am comparing the official english versions of the material that I have easily available to me, as such I'm comparing 2 different translations, I'm aware the two JP versions almost certainly have identical wording in most parts (and that Netflix is just using the manga lines, for the most part). With that said, let us begin.
This episode covers all of chapter 96 (including the cover page), all of 97 (though the order of it is mixed around), and the cover page for 98. Totaling 58 pages.
And that ends this one. Quite a solid episode though I, of course, have my gripes. Not a big fan of all the flashes of past events, like I said, I remember, and I appreciate the manga just trusting me to do so. Before you argue that it's been so long since season 1, it had been a similar amount of time (if not longer) between the chapters coming out in the manga. 40+ chapters between the end of the prologue and these chapters, at the least that's right around 4 years (and again the "you have no enemies" was already brought back up earlier THIS season). Aside from that I also really don't care for the art style of whatever animator was in charge of the big scene with Canute and then Einar yelling at him. They are clearly very skilled, but it just looks really ugly to me. Otherwise I did feel that all the important moments did land as they should have, so it was overall very solid.

2023.06.06 18:14 glamorousstranger Evidence isn't the issue, it's people's entrenched worldviews.

There's more evidence than God, yet people refuse to even acknowledge that it's something that warrants serious consideration. It's so frustrating how easily people will dismiss UFO news like this and whine about there being zero evidence when in reality there is an abundance of evidence. There's a plethora of photographic and video evidence of UFOs plus TONS of eyewitness accounts. Plus all the testimony of the people who had close encounters or were abducted.
Sure, we cannot say definitively it's aliens, but it is SOMETHING. It's something that warrants serious attention and investigation. Like Grusch said there is a powerful disinformation campaign against Ufology, and it's working.
People don't care about evidence, they just cannot handle their worldview being challenged or broken. Look at current sociopolitical issues. Some people can't even handle that trans people exist and need to pee. People's heads would implode if undeniable evidence of extraterrestrials was declassified.
This is the more serious challenge to grapple with, public acceptance, and it probably why the truth has been hidden for so long. Look at all the chaos caused by religion. Holy wars and entrenched ideological political battles. Considering how many people are so willing to die-hard believe in god with zero evidence, disclosure would not go well publicly.
E.T. could land at the white house, "We come in peace," "Take me to your leader" and all that jazz, and people would still refuse to accept it because it is not compatible with their worldview which has brought structure and meaning to their lives.

2023.06.06 18:01 Crimson-1 I plan on making a flashback/vision from Strahd's past accessible through his journal. I wanted to share it and get some feedback. Bonus points to those that get the reference.

I hope it does not disappoint.
You are whisked away briefly and your body is not your own. Walking through halls of a great castle makes you feel uncomfortable. There is a pain in your leg acting up from that war oh so long ago. Years seemed like a blur for you, the fighting taken up so much of your life. Barov... Father, you remind yourself, trying to quench the hatred you have for him now. Sacrificed so much in his name and with nothing to show for it. The wounds that made you walk with this bloody cane made you despise him.
But you were happy... it would all end soon. Just needed one more night... and the deal with the dark powers would be sealed. All it costed was a measly baby brother. You opened the door you were looking for. Your prize was there, radiant as when you met her. Envy pierced your heart but you manage a smile. Even that was painful. "Tatyana." Your voice, once commanding came out like a rasp. Yet she turned and smiled anyway gazing at you. Her wedding dress looked as bright as sunlight and you could not look away even as it seared your heart.
"How do I look?" She asked in a familiar tone. One similar to Ireena... though your memories clashed with the one in this body, as you reply. "Beautiful as ever. A wonderful addition to the Von Zarovich family." If only you were the one she desired instead of him. The invalid.. yet someone you could not part with. She beamed at you, and that smile was haunting... you knew you would not be able to see it once more.
"Tatyana... I replay this memory in my mind again and again. We are... friends are we not? You met me before my brother. It is custom that the elder is married before the younger. We have been friends... close for ages." Gods you hated your voice. It sounded so weak... so haggard compared to his. There was a rage that must have shown on your face for she looked uncomfortable. You raised your hand for peace. A lie, but it was a necessary one. Her wedding would happen still. You could not finish your question but there was understanding in her eyes. "Why..?" At the question envy and anger forced your voice into place.
She hesistated to speak. A heartbeat passed, then another. Then sighed softly moving close to you and caressed your cheek. She brushed her thumb against it looking into your eyes. For a long while you felt terrified. Then she spoke with more conviction than ever. "For a long time, I thought you a fool to follow your father. After all, he is a brutal man. Look what he has done to you, I thought. He has broken you, and your wars have brutalised your home. But the truth is, Strahd, Sergei read to me your campaigns carefully, and he noticed a pattern that disturbed and then alarmed me."
She paused but then continued more confident. "Always you do things the most difficult way, and in the most painful manner. You cultivate a martyr's complex, lurching from man to man, holding out your bleeding wrists so they might see how you hurt yourself. You brood in the shadows when all you want to do is scream, 'Look at me!' You are too arrogant to win people over through effort. You expect people to notice you there in the half-darkness, and point and shout out, 'There! There is the great Strahd! See how he labours without complaint!' 'You came to me as a precocious child. Your abilities were so prodigious that nobody stopped to look at what you were becoming."
The silence was deafening. You could hear your blood in your ears thundering. How dare she speak to you like this. A village woman brought to your home and castle you conquered. The one handed off to your lesser like- a caress of your graying hair was all it took to break the anger. The frustration. Tatyana glanced with such pity on her eyes that hatred simmered where it should boil.
"Strahd, my friend, I say this with the knowledge that this will anger you, but you never truly grew into a man."
"I am far more." The rasp was back and the hatred bubbled in your chest.
"Those words poison your potential. In you, I see a great man struggling against a cruel tyrant. It is why..." She did not finish the sentence. "Come... it is not my place to discuss this. It is a happy time.. I wish to see your smile when you see me come down the aisle." In a blink, like the edge of the sun over a distant horizon, she was gone.
I don't know how in character this would be for Strahd, but I wanted to humanize him and make sure that his actions going forward was horrible.

2023.06.06 17:58 nisebblumberg The Slam Dunk on All Religions -- It is by Man Alone.

So, it is interesting that there must be one God. It is very interesting that this omni-present being who knows everything and everything you will do or could do in the future seems to, at the same time, depending on time and place, which is often determined quite closely to geographical physical boundaries such as tall mountains, rivers, and oceans, determines what exactly you believe in. So God, depending on the time and place you live, gave you the revelation and idea that they exist, and that you are the one and true religion, yet has contradicting statements in other times and other places, also separated by geographical boundary.
Whether you believe in the Aztec god of war and fire Huitzilopochtli in 1700AD in Mexico, or Zeus in 600BC in Greece, or a coyote god in the native Americans, to one of the triad religions that exists in the middle east of Islam, Judaism, or Christianity; or even go to Buddhist, Hindu, Shinto, Confusian religions, which again, are believed on the other side of the Himalayas, a fabulous physical boundary, during the same times, for some reason God decided. It must indicate, that religion, and God and Gods, are invented by man, not by God, for either God is sadistic and enjoys people fighting, or it is invented by people, which would be largely consistent with the findings.

2023.06.06 17:46 Fair_Present_140 Space AU Idea

Alright, so the main point in favor of this idea, right off the bat, is that Hunter, Gus, and Ms. Noceda would have the times of their lives if a spacecraft landed in the backyard.
So things would start off with a spacecraft landing in the backyard.
The second point was how successful Philip/Belos was in nearly exterminating an entire society entirely by himself. If this is the effect that a single human being could have upon a foreign world, what would happen when all of humankind took to the stars? Most of the population has transcended from Philip's conservative viewpoints, but there are still plenty that hold tightly onto them. Even if these views become extremely rare as humanity advances toward spaceflight, there would still be thousands or millions of humans that would hold them, and what could such a number of people accomplish if they followed the same path as Philip? Any alien life we encountered would be subject to the threat of extermination by a large number of radical human supremacists.
To go further, what if it wasn't a minority of the population?
In an alternate reality (which would have both an alternate Boiling Isles and an alternate Earth), Caleb and Philip Wittebane never found the portal to the Boiling Isles and remained in Gravesfield. As he grew into adulthood in the human realm, Philip's religious fanaticism developed just as strongly, and he amassed a religious following on Earth resulting in the formation of the highly successful Holy Revivalist Church, and instituted a series of crusades against Earth-based witchcraft that would have put Salem to shame. Having never met Evelyn, Caleb is indoctrinated by his brother and serves as his right-hand man. The Holy Revivalist Church becomes prevalent throughout the United States, and Philip, having acquired total power over Gravesfield, pronounces himself the first Governor-Priest. Members of the church are sworn to chastity, but Philip makes an exception for any member of the Wittebane family, beginning a chain of descendants that maintains control of the church for centuries.
By the modern era, the Holy Revivalist Church has effectively converted the United States into a conservative theology. The nation has devolved into small shut-in agrarian communes, which all pay a heavy tax to the church to maintain the church-controlled military. All scientific matters are handled directly by church officials, to prevent the public from challenging the role of the Creator, and the immense funding they are receiving have allowed them to develop advanced technologies that are mostly withheld from the public. Any behavior that deviates from they church-approved way is associated with witchcraft and cause for immediate imprisonment.
The current rulers of the church are Governor-Priests Eldred and Darwin Wittebane. While they are on a campaign with a hundred heavily-armed soldiers to storm a resistance compound, the portal to the Boiling Isles finally opens up, and they are transported in, armored vehicles and all. The alternate Luz, who was a resistance soldier, falls into the same portal. (The alternate Boiling Isles will be slightly different - the Collector never visited it, as the Archivists would exist between all the multiverses at once and could never be in two at the same time, so the Titan there died a natural death, laying down with its hands/paws folded over its chest, and plenty of offspring for King to socialize with. Most people won't be the same because the Titan's body is composed differently and would therefore fertilize different life, but the Blights would have to be around because some things are meant to be. There would be a new set of glyphs too, with some of the previous ones mixed in)
Eldred and Darwin take a note from Philip's would-be book and begin convincing the witches that they are gods through displays of their technological abilities. Due to their technological advantage, they are not so concerned with the threat that witches pose to humankind, but instead take more of a colonizer approach, attempting to see how the Boiling Isles can be harvested to supply the theological United States. Titan blood is the new oil. Basilisks, unfortunately, would be captured and studied for their camouflage properties. Gallbladders might even be synthesized for Eldred and Darwin to enable them to perform magic without glyphs. The only thing they cannot do is create a portal back to the human realm for reinforcements, although they are working on doing so.
Now, where's the spaceflight?
Alternate Luz is watching what's going on, and The Collector happens to discover this world as well. They recognize her from the normal world and decide to help. The Wittebane's complex is well-guarded by sci-fi weaponry, making an invasion impossible, and Alternate Luz has not had the time to recruit an army. Instead, being more militant than the normal Luz due to her background, Alternate Luz directs The Collector to steal a spacecraft from the Holy Revivalist Church's military so she can use it to destroy the compound. The Collector does so (through Archivist magic) but decides that Alternate Luz could really use the backup of the main squad, so the spacecraft is sent through an Archivist Portal to normal Earth to collect everyone first.
All sorts of things could happen from here.
This was the brainchild of excessive sugar intake and the hour of 2:00 a.m.

2023.06.06 17:43 indyman_123 How 'Malazan' is "sold" to a brand new reader (like me) around the internet... the factors that led me to ultimately start the journey... and some important advice for the first-timers before going in.

Firstly, I would like to thank you all for voting ,commenting, and sharing your opinions on my previous post. That has really helped me in not only going ahead and trying to attempt and do the whole quick review / recap thing, but also to go ahead with a lot of renewed curiosity, interest, and energy into the series (and also hopefully try and NOT go into the "burnout" mode in the whole process of doing so).
Anyways, but before starting the above mentioned thing though, I would like to address a couple of things based off my personal overall experiences on certain stuff... way before I went ahead and picked up GOTM.
Please note that a few things have already been briefly mentioned in my previous posts and comments, but I wanted to elaborate on certain aspects of it, and even to provide some context to some of the things.
How MBOTF / Malazan is sold to a brand new reader like me around the internet -
These are some of the main and common things that I found out while searching for what the series was all about. Some resources describe the series in a more positive way, whereas some in a more less than positive way (negative is probably not the right word here I feel, cuz the resources are telling you why you should pick it up in the first place, rather than not to) -
  1. The series is very long, in fact one of the longest out there wrt fantasy / word count, and that it's still not complete. MBOTF is done (with 10 BIG books) by SE, but the 'Malazan World' as a whole has a lot more to offer, including NOTME by ICE (again completed; with 6 books), two prequels series, one sequel series, and a bunch of novellas. And there are more books on the way! So spending the time and energy for this is the reader's personal choice.
  2. It is also probably the most complex / challenging series out there. So start at your own risk. Especially if you're new to fantasy or haven't read too much stuff before. Also, you will not understand everything, SE doesn't spoon feed the readers in any way. So if you're into it, then only go for it.
  3. Not for everyone's taste too. That it tackles certain aspects in a much "rougher way" (violence, sexual assault, etc.), and that the author doesn't pull any punches in doing so. As long as one is able to manage their emotions wrt this, it will be OK. Otherwise, not for the faint hearted so as to speak.
  4. The writing / prose is pretty good, but again, not for everyone. It can get very confusing and difficult at times. Can also get too much philosophical at times, and as the series progresses, some of the books tend to drag on a bit. And the major underlying themes concerned are compassion, pain, grief, suffering, etc.
  5. The characters, although some very well written, do not quite come out as the best in the genre (writing wise). There are too many characters' POV to follow, and that can be challenging to say the least.
  6. It is more of a military fantasy in a way, involving multiple battle sequences, strategies, etc. and if you like wars, armies, magic, assassins, thieves, fantasy creatures, amazing places, some cool OP characters, even gods themselves getting involved in a much bigger game, you should definitely go for it.
  7. The worldbuilding is top class though, and the journey throughout is well worth all your efforts in the end. Many even stating that this right here is the most epic and best fantasy series they have ever read!
  8. Lastly, that GOTM is THE hardest of the bunch wrt everything. The writing, plot wise, character wise, understanding wise, etc. I f you can manage to push through it, you'll be able to get on pretty well. Also, to judge if the series is made for you or not, go through AT LEAST the first three books of MBOTF. If then you're into it, it's definitely for you. If not, you should probably consider dropping it.
Now, this is NOT to point fingers or to highlight anybody / any online resource, or community. This is just what I as a new reader found out and was informed wrt the series in general. There were some things to put me off personally like the complexity, length, etc. But there was plenty that I thought was right down my alley, and I would enjoy it very much (like deadly big hounds, lots of dragons, dinosaurs with blade hands, a short, plump dude who's funny and dangerous at the same time, some super cool powerful dude with charcoal skin and white flowing hair equipped with an even powerful sword, and so on. You get the point, right?). And thus, I went ahead and got GOTM as soon as I could!
Factors that led me to start the Malazan Book of the Fallen -
Now, since the turn of the year, I've been greatly influenced by certain factors that propelled me into starting this journey - (in no particular order really)
  1. Malaztube / Booktube / Youtube - I know there are quite a few number of people out there who make some really good content wrt Malazan, but the following were the ones that I personally was hugely inspired by (again, in no particular order) - Matt's Fantasy Book Reviews, Iskar Jarak, Andy Smith, The Fantasy Nuttwork, Mike's Book Reviews, Daniel Greene, Petrik Leo, CREEDER, etc. [NOT promotional in any way btw]
  2. Artworks / Fan arts / Cover designs / Other graphical representations - These were genuinely the things that pushed me into starting the series even further. Some really beautiful and amazing stuff present out there, without question. Makes you want to read it for yourself, to experience it first hand!
  3. Articles / Posts / Websites / Other online resources - There's a TON of stuff out there, in-depth / detailed to such an extent that you wouldn't deem possible. All that and then some. Whatever you need, it's there. The amount of dedication, effort, and analysis for this series made me realize that it was certainly more than special, and again, gave me that final push needed.
  4. This sub right here - No cap / sugar coating in any way. I've been following / reading the posts and the comments since the past 2-3 months from afar, and was really surprised to see a well balanced community. Also was able to check out the various resources, related sites, and the reading companions, which again, strengthens the fact that there's so much great content and info. present out there thanks to the efforts of many people. So keep it up and kudos for that! The only slight disappointment for me was that the number of Bonehunters present were/are just a little bit lower than what I expected. Hopefully many more recruits on the way! But hey, quality over quantity, as they say!
All the above factors did a massive job in pushing me to start the series immediately. And without wasting any more time, I ordered a copy of GOTM (which was on sale luckily!).
Some VERY important advice for all the new readers out there -
I absolutely had to post this, no doubt. Especially with my personal experience, I find it a kind of motivation to try and help / stop this from happening to the brand new audience. If you want to avoid being spoiled wrt anything and everything about the series before even stepping a foot into it, here's some words of advice that you might consider following -
  1. TOTALLY AVOID THE BACK COVERS / SYNOPSIS! - Two major spoilers were ruined for me while doing this. Now, I get that you are looking to know what is happening and what not, but avoid this. Maybe just go for the GOTM one since it'll be your first book to pick (even though you'd still be wondering WTH is going on and why), but that's all. No more. Rather go for Malaztube / Booktube / Youtube content which has non spoiler stuff. Those are very well explained, and won't spoil anything for you. Rather will make the basic gist of the series pretty clear so you can directly hop on the wagon. Lots of channels to choose from as well. Even some of the articles / websites will do the same for you (hoping you avoid clicking where you shouldn't be clicking in the first place!).
  2. AVOID GETTING INTO THE ARTWORK / FAN ART TRAP! - Now, I'm not saying this in a negative way, of course not. There are some gorgeous, amazing artworks out there, especially fan arts. But make sure you only go through the ones with a NO SPOILER tag / label. Otherwise, don't even glance at it. Some artists / fans don't have the tags or labels on their personal pages / bios. So watch out. I have unfortunately received one of the biggest possible spoilers while doing this. So tread carefully. You have been warned!
  3. ARTICLES / WEBSITES / OTHER ONLINE RESOURCES - There are really some GREAT stuff out there about Malazan (I really can't help but stress this point even more). But one wrong click, and chances are you might get spoiled, like I did. So again, only go for the NON SPOILER stuff.
  4. ABOUT THIS SUB - There's a reason there are multiple, well defined flairs present here. So out of curiosity and excitement, DO NOT click on any of the spoiler posts, let alone the comments. Even then, the spoiler part is covered by a grey patch. DO NOT click on it if you don't want to get spoiled. Things I've been personally guilty of, but luckily, didn't spoil anything major as such.
Can you see a pattern here with all the three segments combined?
Anyways, so yeah, that's pretty much it from my perspective. I have been spoiled certain big stuff while doing this the wrong way (even though I've been assured through this sub that there's still a LOT to uncover and experience. So it isn't going to slow me down in any way btw). So, I do hope new comers won't tread the same path, and rather go through it in a much more cautioned approach for an even better first time experience!
AND BREATHE!
Still here, are you? Really? Well, I hope it was either somewhat useful, kinda informative, or maybe even helpful in a way. Let me know if I've missed anything, or should've left out, or anything else for that matter.
Cheers!
Oh, and one last thing. I've come to gather that this sub doesn't shy away from long posts. Well, so how about a decent sized one for a start, eh? ;)

2023.06.06 17:40 Tonosonic LIMBS - magic in a post-apocalyptic wasteland

This setting is still fairly new and undeveloped (the world is literally just called Wasteland at the moment), so I won’t go into too much detail outside of the magic system. Magic in this world is seperated into different “Limbs”, which are listed below. Most Limbs need energy to work (standard ATP from respiration), but others may have different costs too. I’d really appreciate any feedback on the Limbs I’ve made so far, and any suggestions! (Also, which Limb would you choose to have in this wasteland?)
Other nescessary information:
Jacks: Artificial devices that attach to the user’s body, which act as a “reaction chamber” for extra energy, but which can only be activated by Limb users. This is used by Limb users as a battery to increase how long they can use their abilities for, and how strongly. There are many different Jacks in production, varying in size and appearance, some better than others and some with different advantages. The “juice” inside is more often than not obtained from a specific kind of plant.
Distribution Levels: The rarity of a person having a specific Limb, increasing in rarity. Green, Amber, Red, White

——————————-LIMBS——————————

ACTIVATION
Average Cost: High Energy (per activation)
Distribution Level: Amber
Identifier: Hands more grey than usual, fingernails may be black.
Description: This limb works through conduction and users are taught from an eary age to do so through the palms. Upon touchinng the corpse of a recently deceased animal (within 24 hours of death, but may vary from environmental conditions), glowing orange waves will ripple across the body, “activating” it. For this reason, many “Battle Activators” have started using retractable metal wires with hook on the end in order to quickly access several corpses at once during battle. This will turn the whole body, apart from the bones, into “Minions”, which are the basis of all Activation. They appear to be roughly diamond-shaped slugs made from muscle. Each one has an organ in the middle of their body which looks like a protruding black eyeball, with a glowing orange ring-like “iris” in the middle. Through this organ the Minions feel all the senses, and this is also what you communicate with them through. Each minion is quite stubby, but stretchable, but at rest is around 10cm in length. The number of Minions made from a corpse of course varies from the actual amount of flesh available, as it is directly converted. Now you can “program” them to complete certain function loops or assemble into different shapes - this second part of activation doesn’t require any more energy. Minions can stick to each other to “assemble” into their different, more applicable functions. Most commonly, they are used to create powerful bodyguards or watchdogs in the form of golems and flying heaps. More advanced activators can also make their irises merge into more advanced “eyeballs” which can increase all of their senses. Although Minions can slightly change their structure to complete functions, such as turning into proto-bones and joints for golems, they can’t differ very much from their original form. Also, it takes skill and practice to increase how many Minions you can handle controlling at once - otherwise the rest wither away.

REPELLENT
Average Cost: Medium Energy
Distribution Level: Green
Identifier: Bumps that look like healed scars, distinctive circle shape with small “tendrils” off to the sides.
Description: Users have “Repulsion Nodes” in locations on their body (the bumps described above). These are most commonly on the feet, the knees, chest, palms or forehead - although most commonly the palms. The number of Repulsion Nodes a user is born with is decided at birth. At these nodes, users can use energy to release a superheated plasma “energy blast” created from particles in their blood. The repulsion can be many colours such as blue, pink, red, yellow, green etc - the colour mainly depends on how the user was trained with the power from birth, although genetic factors may have a small influence too, however this is unlikely to overrule the results of the training. Size, power, speed and shape can all be changed through concentration and improved through training. More trained Repellents can maximise the efficiency of their repulsions. Repulsions that you have created yourself don’t affect you, and bounce off/ glide along the surface of your body. This is why most users who have palm Repulsion Nodes assume a distinctive “finger gun” shape to make it easier to fire smaller, stronger and more accurate repulsions (think of the normal finger gun shape, but the thumb is not lifted up, and points in the direction of the “barrel” - this redirects the repulsion most efficiently). The actual effects of repulsions are similar to Star Wars blaster bolts, although more skilled users can decide to make some more explosive or more slicing.

AUGMENTATION
Average Cost: Low Energy
Distribution Level: Green
Identifier: Red saliva/drool (only after shrinking)
Description: The user has the ability to fully control their body, and to augment “A-Cells” which lie dormant next to every cell in their body. Augmentations may include a long list of things, but a few are: increasing muscle mass, hardening of skin, growing of bones out into spikes/spears, night vision, extending limb length, extending and sharpening hardened fingernails, etc. The only organ in the body that does not have any A-Cells present is the brain, which cannot be modified. Anything the user can think of, they can do - theoretically. However, augmenting into something you’ve never experienced makes it less effective, slower and less efficient (too much energy expended). This is why users often have to only have a few “pre-sets” that they learn to transform into, to minimise this effect. An important factor is also an understanding of the anatomy, so many users are taught anatomy thoroughly before they begin augmenting. Good knowledge of your normal anatomy means you can also heal your body at rapid speeds. Effectively this means that Augmenters usually have a large advantage when using a Jack.

THOUGHTMELDING
Cost: High Energy (per use, otherwise Low Energy constantly)
Distribution: Amber
Identifier: Pupil-less eyes that glow a blinding green, and are as hard as gemstones
Description: The user houses a “psychic dimension” called a Meld Server, or Server for short, inside their brains. The user has full omnipotence within this space, and only consciouses can enter into it, as it is not material (but if feels real inside). In order to drag someone’s consciousness inside, the target has to directly look at the user’s eyes from about 10cm away - the glow of the eyes has to be fully exposed too, and cannot be from behind any kind of see-through glass or tinted cover. After doing so, the user and the target will both slump and their eyes will roll back - the user’s eyes’ glow will stop. Inside the server, the target is powerless, but can still feel everything - and thus this is often used for interrogation. This form of torture is known as “mindflaying”. However, once a person inside the server submits their will to the user, another option is created: copying. The user can copy the other’s entire personality, memories and experiences inside the server. This “copy” will be fully obedient to the user, and will divulge any information to the user that it knows from the original. Once the user has had enough, they can exit the server - and so the target will too - waking up and returning to their bodies. Alternatively, the user can also “scroll” through the server, which basically means closing their eyes and flicking through the people that they have copied, whilst still being in their body and present to their surroundings. If the eyes are looked at from a distance, or from behind a see-through material, they will only give the target a headache. The issue with thoughtmelding users is that they are constantly using extra energy to supply the server, meaning they either need to eat a lot more, or need to be constantly using a Jack. Furthermore, most Thoughtmelders usually wear some form of tinted or mirrored shades or goggles in order to block the effects of their eyes (whilst also making hiding their Limb with some success).

EXHAUSTION
Cost: Low Energy, fossil fuels (e.g charcoal, coal, or oil)
Distribution: Amber
Identifier: Grey tongue and black insides of mouth
Description: The user has the ability to shoot out a black smoke from their mouths. In order to do so, the user has to consume some form of fossil fuel, which is usually charcoal. This smoke is, when used correctly, so black (so little light enters) that it is virtually impossible to discern anything within it or past it. Of course, this decreases as the gas gets more spread out. The complection of this smoke can be modified by the user - it can be a more spread out fog, it can be thick walls of smoke, or even very dense near-solid clumps. The use can be changed by the user too - it can be as harmless as air, as toxic as smog, as blinding as ink, or even as acidic as mustard gas (however this one takes a lot of specific training for a long time to get right, as it is fundamentally different). Exhausters are usually looked down upon because of how useless this ability seems. When more concentrated fossil fuels such as oil and above are used, the smoke gains an iridescent oil-like shimmer to it. Although usually used as a method of hiding and escaping, some have found that by compressing toxic smog into a tar-like substance and shooting it as a projectile, they can incapacitate enemies more easily.

ACCUMULATION
Cost: None
Distribution: Red
Identifier: Glow under UV light
Description: The user respires at an abnormal rate without a higher intske nescessary - far higher than the average human or a Limb user. These are stored within the user’s cells, and the body does not burst as a result of the energy it’s own body creates - because the user can slow down the respiration to normal levels at will, with basic training. This however means that children who are not identified as Accumulators from birth usually explode from too much energy being produced at around the age of 3. This is one of many reasons for their rarity. However, other than using up the energy normally, users can also expel it into the environment through their skin. The real application of an accumulator however is also why they are sometimes known as “Jackmen” or “Living Batteries” - they can release their energy into other people, and more specifically other Limb users. Not only does this allow for a steady supply of energy, but accumulators can shoot the energy in in such a way that it can give the other person a short lasting increase in power and ability. For this reason, accumulators are hunted down and treated as sub-human - only tools for the empowerment of others. Many babies were stolen straight from hospitals and taken to “energy factories” where they were treated simply as batteries, which often led to them being discarded once they were “fully drained”. In the period where accumulators were newly discovered, and hunted, nefarious organisations looking for them would go around waving UV lights at people before dragging them away. As a result, most remaining accumulators stay in hiding.
