Prepping: I add a wet puck paper filter to the bottom of the portafilter. 3. Dosing: With dosing funnel on the portafilter, I add the grinds from the grinder cup 4. WDT: I use the WDT tool to declump the grinds in the portafilter and prevent channeling 5. Distribution: I use a distribution tool by Saint Anthony to distribute the grinds in the portafilter 6. Tamping: I use a palm tamper by Saint Anthony to tamp the grinds in the portafilter 7. Puck Screen: I add a puck screen to the top of the portafilter to help reduce channeling 8. Weighing: I add a scale on the espresso machine below the group head, add my cup and tare the scale 9. Brewing: I start the brew and watch the scale looking for a 1 to 2 ratio of grinds to water. In my case I am looking for 44g out in 25-30 sec and then stop the brew. 10. Drinking: I stir the espresso and enjoy. I highly recommend these items if you use a Breville Espresso Machine, especially the Turin grinder. These items and my workflow provides great tasting espresso. 2023.05.28 15:16 yanz67 Is 100g of coffee ground for 50oz French press correct ratio?
I've switched using French press a year or so ago and been using ground coffee (find grind) all this time. Recently found out buying ground coffee is not good and decided to get a Baratza Encore Conical Burr Coffee Grinder. I've set it to 28 to get coarser grind and then used the same amount of grounds (8 scoops) to make the coffee. It was very very light. I did some research and it's suggested to use 1:15 ratio for regular strength.
I have a 50oz French press which is 1500grams which means 100g of coffee grounds. I just tried that and it seems like a lot of grounds comparatively to how much I used before. The plunder went down only 3/4 of the way. The coffee is way better but is that too much grounds? I am guessing coarser grind requires more of it to brew correctly and actually it's more expensive to buy beans and grind myself.
Please advise.
Thanks!

2023.05.28 14:48 milkclerk Will wood movement be a problem with this design
| I'm working on a coffee table design where I'd like to do a through tenon so that end grain of the legs show on the surface of the coffee table. I'm using cherry for the project. The surface will be ~7 boards laminated together. Each leg has a 3-5/8th" square core that is 2 pieces laminated together. Then each core is wrapped in a mitered box that brings the total dims of the leg to 5-1/4" square. The red lines represent the 7 boards + the end grain of the legs showing through the surface. I know wood moves across the grain so I matched the orientation of the leg cores to the surface panels so that they would expand and contract with each other, but what about the mitered box wrapping the cores? Will that be a problem? https://preview.redd.it/r9mhod6g0m2b1.png?width=3510&format=png&auto=webp&s=19476402cb9813c5f25bd85c05fa4bd6df5ad23d submitted by milkclerk to BeginnerWoodWorking [link] [comments] |
2023.05.28 14:43 YoureBeautifulDude These don’t look like Frappuccino’s…
2023.05.28 14:27 StayPuzzleheaded7262 I really don’t know what to do with my life
Basically what the title says, I feel like I’m wasting my life away and missing out but not sure exactly what I’m missing out on either. It seems like the majority of people I say this to, say that most people don’t enjoy their jobs and don’t end up doing what they want anyway so I shouldn’t worry. Some people say they wish they were actually in my position and didn’t have to work. But I feel unproductive, bored and lonely sometimes. I don’t have friends either and if I had a job I might make some.
My problem is so far, I haven’t been able to handle many jobs without getting super burnt out and overwhelmed. I’ve tried an office job but was constantly a shaking mess when it came to taking calls and kept messing up so eventually my manager said I should take a break. I didn’t manage to make friends at that job either. I tried working 10 hour night shifts in a warehouse but couldn’t keep up with the demands of stocking items and getting them scanned ready to be delivered. Also some parcels were heavy and I struggled to do it on my own, also at the end of every shift all the large heavy items need to be put onto trolleys and carted around which I also couldn’t manage on my own so I had to have someone help me with it and I could tell my manager wasn’t very impressed that I was always needing help so I left after 4 shifts, also my feet were covered in sores and blisters. The majority of people I worked with were men so that probably why.
I haven’t worked any other kind of job and I can’t seem to find anything I would really enjoy doing, all work requires a degree of socialising as well and that’s what I find the hardest. I will also need to go back to college if I really want a career in something because of my lack of work experience and poor qualifications, I doubt anyone would just hire me. I’ve been out of work for 3 years now. I’m beginning to feel like I’m too autistic to do anything and should just accept that maybe I’ll never find a job that I can enjoy and cope with 😕

2023.05.28 14:16 Melodic-Ad4106 What's your favorite v60 method/recipe?
What is your favorite v60 method/recipe? Specifically for lighter roasted coffee, I am not into darker roasts.
I started with Hoffmans technique:
https://youtu.be/AI4ynXzkSQo I had some decent results with this, yet I'm not sure if lacking the proper grinder and a gooseneck kettle was preventing me from getting good results. I was using a cheap automatic burr grinder, yet I just upgraded to 1ZPRESSO K-MAX and I've yet to try Hoffmans technique since then. In your opinion, which gear is critical for this method? i.e., gooseneck kettle, good grinder, particular filter papers.
Later, I found Matt Winton's recipe:
https://youtu.be/YIC-2nFQ7vM and I got so much bettedifferent/consistent results with this. It seems much less complex and to require so much less tweaking to get consistently good results with this method. I'm thinking about trying Kasuya's 4:6 method next!
I'd love to hear your experience and about your current favorite recipe.

2023.05.28 14:15 ChampionshipFew120 My hopefully positive IBS / SIBO experience (so far)
A Brief Introduction
I used to struggle with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). It got to the point where I was afraid to eat, as every meal, even small ones, would trigger brutal heartburn. My skin was peeling off my hands, almost to the point of bleeding. Constant stomach and intestinal pains, bloating, belching - I was like a gas machine. I couldn't do any sports because any physical strain would provoke gastric acid reflux and severe heartburn. A perpetually irritated esophagus caused discomfort whenever I ate.
But, it seems, I managed to heal all this. Everything is good again now: I eat almost whatever I want and don't suffer.
Part 1: Backstory from 2017 to 2020
Rash, Blisters, Stress, Didn't Pay Much Attention
- Blisters began to itch, so I visited a dermatologist and took tests: no fungus, no skin problems.
- Went to an allergist, conducted a ton of expensive allergy tests, no problems found.
- Saw a gastroenterologist: they found mild gastritis, but it wasn't causing problems.
- I let it go, thinking it would pass on its own.
Part 2: 2020 - 2023. Symptom Worsening
COVID-19 Pandemic and Businesses issues causing a lot of stress
In 2020, COVID-19 hit. My businesses were crumbling due to lockdowns - restaurant chains, coffee shops, and educational schools. I was paranoid about the health risks and potential loss of relatives due to the pandemic (several of my close friends and acquaintances had lost relatives to COVID-19).
I was working 24/7, sometimes eating whatever was at hand, and that's when my digestive problems began. Heartburn, discomfort, and lower abdominal pains started occurring more frequently.
Health Issues and COVID-19
I got vaccinated, but still got infected with COVID-19, and it took about a year and a half for my sense of smell to return.
My immunity was feeble without vitamins and proper diet, and there was a lot of psychological and physical strain (I tried to exercise 4-5 times a week, running, to somehow compensate for the work-related stress with sports).
Seeking Medical Assistance and Temporary Relief
Eventually, I started visiting gastroenterologists to understand the cause of the heartburn. Nothing critical was found in the stomach, except for an irritated mucosa.
I went to some doctors, and they prescribed Omeprazole and similar acid-lowering medications. They gave some relief for a week, but then the symptoms worsened.
Health at its Worst and a Slight Ray of Hope
After several courses of Omeprazole and similar drugs, my condition only got worse. In the end, it got to the point where I was afraid to eat. I eliminated everything from my diet except water and simple boiled dishes, but I still had constant heartburn, gas, skin peeling on my fingers, etc.
Ultimately, I was fortunate to meet the 4th or 5th doctor, after whom I began to see small improvements.
Part 3: Getting Slightly Better, But Not Much
The Different Approach That Started Helping
This doctor's approach was a little different, and in the end, it started helping.
The doctor ordered some tests, and we discovered that I had a chronic E.Coli infection in my intestines, which should not be there. Usually, it causes acute poisoning and quickly leaves the body, but it also produces pretty strong toxins (which, as I would understand later, caused inflammation in the intestines, which in turn caused skin problems on my hands).
(link to wiki and articles) Symptom 1: Skin rash - Check. This infection, as I understand it, (correct me if anyone has more detailed knowledge), by receiving nutrients, begins to actively produce an excessive amount of gases. This causes constant (every 1-2 minutes) burping and the desire to pass gas, which in turn creates excessive pressure in the intestines. This pushes stomach and intestinal contents towards the esophagus and disrupts the proper functioning of all digestive processes.
Symptom 2: GERD - Check.Symptom 3: Burping and Farting (sorry) - Check.Symptom 4: Abdominal pains and cramps - Check.Symptom 5: Stones in the gallbladder and slight pains in gallbladder area - Check. Attempting to Balance the Microbiome
So, this doctor wanted to try to balance my microbiome. He prescribed diets like Fodmap, a lot of supporting medicines to feed the right bacteria, and at the same time, he wanted me to take antibiotic-type medicines to kill E.Coli. It was also thanks to this doctor that I found out I have confirmed lactose intolerance and Gilbert's Syndrome.
We started with bacteriophage, as one of the most gentle ways to kill E.Coli without disturbing the other "good" bacteria.
During the time I took bacteriophage, the symptoms were getting better (the skin and everything), but when I stopped it (after 14 days or so) things returned to where they were before.
Recurring E.Coli Infections
After that, I retested and we found E.Coli again.
Now we tried the antibiotic rifaximin (in small dose), the effect was the same: better symptoms, everything got back after I stopped taking antibiotics.
Now, I took the test and found out that I didn't have any normal E.coli in my intestines, apparently it was replaced by the infectious E.coli.
The third time, it was prescribed to take bacteriophage first for 10 days, then rifaximin in small dose (200 mg twice a day for 14 days or so).
The result was exactly the same: symptoms return, E.coli persists in the test.
Struggling to Balance the Microbiome
During the antibiotic treatment, I took supporting prebiotics, probiotics, and other drugs. However, the probiotic with E.coli was not available in my country, it was not produced, and there was none in pharmacies at all.
After that, I moved from the country to another country and lost contact with my previous doctors.
Since I had been suffering from this for 5 years already, I was almost desperate to cure it all. I collected all the information I had, everything I discussed with doctors, everything I read on medical resources, confirmed by verified medical research, and decided to take a risk and wage a final battle with E.coli and my problems.
Disclaimer: I do not recommend and even warn against self-medication. I am not a professional doctor and I was lucky that it helped me. I initially consulted with literally dozens of doctors, read all thematic resources, acted on the results of my current tests and analyses.
Part 4: Relief
Having moved to another country, I decided to do the following:
- Take a large dose of rifaximin for treating E.Coli (550 mg x 14 days).
- Support the balance of the microbiota during the entire intake of the antibiotic by taking Saccharomyces Boulardi.
- Follow a fodmap-diet throughout the entire drug intake period.
- Completely eliminate sugar during the antibiotic treatment, for 2 months from the start of the antibiotic treatment, and limit sugar intake after that (i.e., no sodas, chocolates, sweet drinks. I clearly noted a worsening of symptoms immediately after their intake).
- After the end of antibiotic treatment, I took Mutaflor for a month (starting with 3 tablets twice a day for the first 3-4 days, then two weeks 2 tablets twice a day, then 1 tablet twice a day). Remember, according to my test results, I had little or no normal E.coli in the intestines and instead, the pathogenic E.coli was actively hanging out and enjoying life.
- I restricted, but did not completely remove, the consumption of lactose.
I finished the treatment a month ago and so far, I don't see any symptoms of the disease: skin problems are gone, heartburn, rumbling in the intestines, gases also disappeared.
I may feel heaviness in the intestines after consuming dairy products in large amounts (for example, Greek yogurt with berries before bedtime), but if I limit the consumption of dairy products, I do not feel any problems with the intestines.
Now I am trying to solve problems with the gallbladder and smoothly return to a normal active life: I'm not afraid to eat, exercise, I don't wake up with pain in the abdominal area at night or in the mornings.
Part 5: Final and Good Luck
I hope that such a detailed story will help some of you not to despair, find the right doctor, the right approach, and the right reasons for your problems and to wake up without pain in the intestines again, eat any food without fear, and enjoy life again.

2023.05.28 14:10 Brief_Permit_6006 how do i move on faster sa no label relationship?
For context, i was dating someone for 4 months and our connection was great. We talked about it and we told each other na exclusive kami, not until both of us fvcked up, nung bigla niya akong ni-no contact for a day or two so I thought wala na. Tapos nag-hide sya ng story sakin na may dinate pala siyang iba. So ako may nilandi din agad after kasi akala ko wala na.
Ofc mabilisan akong nakipagbreak upon knowing what she did.
After a month, nagka-jowa agad siya. Naol talaga nagkalabel noh?
Fast forward 5 months after. Namimiss ko pa rin kahit toxic siya. I trued dating other people pero bumabalik yung mga memories kasi ang tagal din namin and medyo na-attach din ako.
Nagpapakabusy ako sa work and I talk to a lot of random people here on reddit for play time lang.
I also go out with my friends sometimes to get a coffee or mag-bar to keep myself busy.
Wala na kaming contacts at all, I even unfollowed all our mutuals. Wala na ring gifts around here na magpapaalala sa kanya.
How do I move on faster?

2023.05.28 13:57 Colt_Leasure The family next door disappeared. The answer to their vanishing is in the woods.
1
I live in a suburb surrounded by forest. My house is in a row of other properties built next to a tree line. The neighborhood was always quiet. The sounds of crickets, birds, and sight of black bears were routine on most summer days.
The scenic area was something I was always grateful for. I lived completely alone since the death of my parents. An accidental fire took both of their lives. Once I collected my inheritance, I relocated to a much more peaceful region. I had always fantasized about moving there.
I tried to start a relationship with Samantha. I had gone to High School with her sixteen years before. She had gone on to become a respected Detective. My attempt at something long lasting with her failed. She was too career oriented. I was reeling from grief. Focusing on building something meaningful with her was a pipe dream.
Things around my community changed once the Murphy family went missing.
The first sign that something was off on that Wednesday was how their blinds had closed. Their silver Chevy Chrysler remained parked in the driveway.
A tennis instructor at the country club noticed the wife of that house did not show up for the program. He called their number to make sure everything was alright. When no one responded, he notified the authorities. Rumors abounded immediately among the home owners association about an alleged affair. The gossip only furthered when the married couple and their three kids were not found in the abode.
I watched from my balcony as the patrolmen roped the place off with caution tape. The domicile was a three story building with brick chimney’s and a few peaked roofs in the style of English towers. They were beige, light blue and crimson.
On the morning of the Murphy’s desertion of society, the architecture became a hollow image. It was one that was once filled with activity and life.
The law did what they could. Any success they may have had in the investigation was secret. A few months passed by and they removed the caution tape.
I followed the on-line police logs. The weather was pristine and clear the day they vanished. The fact that there were no witnesses to what direction they may have gone disturbed me.
I had heard how the man, Frank Murphy, had a bit of a temper and always had a bourbon in hand. I had heard mutual friends describe him as an alcoholic in denial of his servitude to liquor. He was an indignant individual who knew no true repercussions for his behavior. He always had bail money from a software company he founded and sold a long time ago.
I was never close to that family, but I peered out at their vacant house far more than I ever had. I was in need of an answer. What could have happened?
2
I called Samantha one evening as I sat on my bed, wondering how she would respond to my reaching out. We were never argumentative or on bad terms. I still worried about her reaction, and hoped it would not be a dismissive one.
I heard her say hello. Her voice still impressed me. I had almost forgotten how silky her tone was. I knew it could change to a much firmer pitch when she was interviewing a suspect.
“Hi, Sam. I’d like to know if you’d be free tomorrow for a cup of coffee. We can go to that place, The Bean Field, off Pond road. It’s been a while and I know you have a lot to tell me about what’s new in your life.”
There was a pause on the other end, and for a second a bout of anxiety hit me. I judged my own words as robotic, stilted, and sure to push her away. I reasoned she was summoning an excuse to get out of having to interact with me. How dare I presume she would even entertain the notion of having a meeting.
“That sounds great,” she said. “Tomorrow is my day off, luckily for you. I’m in the middle of an incident right now. It’s a five car pile-up about forty minutes from where you live. I’ve gotta run. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
When she hung up, I was triumphant. I looked at our old text conversations. I realized we had not been in communication with each other for over twelve months. Now was my opportunity to reconcile that gap of unintended avoidance. I knew it would be an undeserved opportunity.
3
I sat outside of the cafe the next morning at a black metal table. I had a view of rolling hills dotted with trees. A highway with multitudinous shrubberies sat on either side of it. I sipped a piccolo latte while waiting for her.
When she arrived and stepped out of her hatchback in the parking lot, her appearance floored me. She had not dressed up for our supposed date, but that did not make a difference. She had arrived from the gym and wore shorts and a top set. She donned a gray and green hoodie.
She sat across from me and reached for the menu.
“Can you go to the front and order me avocado toast?” Samantha asked. “I’ll also take a mocha with a few shots of espresso. Please.”
I did exactly that. When I returned with her items, she apologized for consuming her meal in less than two minutes.
“I hadn’t eaten since five PM yesterday,” she said between sips.
“I understand,” I said. “I doubt you ever have a consistent schedule anymore.”
“You’re right, but that’s why I have to enjoy my free time when I can.”
We settled into talking about what had happened since we last saw each other. I referenced my trying to learn another language (French) with the hopes of moving to Europe or Canada.
After fifteen minutes of small talk, I asked her about work, but I did so with caution. It started with me wondering about what the call she was on when we were on the phone was about.
“A drunk driver blew a stop sign and hit two other vehicles,” she said. “It was ugly. A few people died. We’ll see if the man in silk pajamas gives him the proper sentence or a traffic citation.”
“You know, I’m curious about what happened to the Murphy’s, if they’re hurt or not.”
“You and everyone else,” she said. “We’ve been getting so many witness accounts, and so far they’ve all been bogus. All I know is what I saw when I got there.”
“I didn’t know you were one of the responders,” I said.
“Yeah. Something about the place was off from the moment I walked in. I found heavy items in placed they should not have been in. The toolbox was not in the garage but on the second story. A disassembled snowblower lay scattered everywhere in pieces. The oven door was on their bed. Frank Murphy was not the strongest guy in the world, either. For him to cause the kind of property damage I saw doesn’t make a lot of sense. At the risk of sounding crazy, inexplicable things happened when I was there.”
“Like what?”
“I was under the impression that something was playing a trick on me. Electrical outlets sparked a few times out of nowhere. The ceiling fan would go from still to spinning when I looked up at it. Books would fall off of the shelves. A volume on black magic, of all things, almost hit the top of my head when I walked on by. Another book about fairies collapsed with it.”
“So the home intruder set up a bunch of weird diversions,” I said. “I’ve heard of that before. These killers or kidnappers want the victims to think there was more than one of them. It’s so their account’s disputed in court.”
I’ll tell you right now,” she said, “we didn’t find any outside DNA.”
“So it’s a case of family annihilation,” I said as I took a long swig of my beverage. “I don’t know if you can substantiate the facts, but a few people have said that Emily had a big life insurance policy. Frank knew about. He may have been using steroids and having an affair, and that could have contributed to-“
It occurred to me that she eyed me with suspicion, as though I was digging too deep. I could also tell she regretted letting information about the forensic results slip.
She stood up and stared at me with a flash of anger in her eyes.
“I thought you wanted to piece something back together with me,” she said. “I didn’t know you wanted to play armchair investigator like every true crime fan. You know, your parents were kind. I wish you’d follow their example. I’ll let you get the bill.”
She walked back to her vehicle and I knew it would be a while before we conversed again.
Later that night, I stared out my window at the Murphy home. I saw a star shoot across the sky, and it almost seemed ready to plummet into the side of their house.
4
The next evening, I took a walk around the suburb. I spotted a thin line of dried red fluid along a path which led into the woods.
I was attempting to get in some movement to get my mind off of the events of the day before. Negativity and self-deprecation were all-consuming. I felt the need for a long saunter to try and release some of the meandering and pessimistic energy I accrued.
When I saw the carmine ribbon along the dark soil, a sense of worry filled me. I was not that far removed from a cul-de-sac with palatial manors a block away. There was no way I could speculate on me being the first to see it.
Could it be a hint where they are? I thought.
The notion seemed absurd, a reach.
I had read in the local newspaper that there was an uptick in bobcat sightings due to recent wildfires. The animals relocated during prior summers. I reasoned it could have been a house pet which became a victim after it got snatched away into the overgrowth.
I followed it, and the uneven road of red stretched on past many bushes and over logs. A shrill chirping in the background became louder. I moved between two conifers with petrified wood and found myself in a part of the forest I had never been in.
There were so many branches that it blacked out the falling sun. Ahead of me was a clearing. A swarm of gnats and mosquitos descended upon it. The sea of insects soared together in chaotic unison as a wave among the sedges and lichen.
I looked towards the right of the meadow and saw a ramshackle tree house. I trailed the red line towards it. I peered in through one of the windows and saw a statue of a woman with wings. I knew she was not an angel. There was no halo, nor were her organs of flight feathery, but rather they were thin and bat-like.
I entered the place knowing the danger I was putting myself in. I had tracked mud in and was oblivious to the incriminating actions I partook in. I was trespassing and risking stumbling into whoever may have owned the land. My curiosity got the better of me and caused me to keep moving forward.
The room was sparse but decorated. The walls had carvings of men and women, also with wings. Their bodies held yogic-like positions as they reached out to one another mid-air.
A piece of parchment with a few words sat in the corner. I picked it up and read it:
‘Humans are the greatest living beings to play tricks on. Especially when they go through a time of drought and extreme cold.’
I sat it down where I found it, unsure of what to make of it.
I touched the central figure’s neck. The chiseling was not only cold, but below freezing, as though I had submerged my hand in a polar pool.
The noise of some kind of bird attempting to escape a confined space reverberated below me.
Something brushed against my leg. I looked down and saw an army of glow bugs float up between the cracks, and they circled around me. They were like dragon flies. At the time I had labeled them as such, but in reality their shapes were far too humanoid.
I walked back home. I went to bed and slept. I was still perturbed at the wine-colored avenue and cabin.
I awoke in the middle of the night after something tapped at my walls from the outside. I peered out and saw the Murphy home, and observed how the blinds over their casements were wide open. A hive of mites filled every inch of the interior.
5
I found the decomposing body of a chipmunk stuffed into the tailpipe of my vehicle the next day.
This horrified me, because the deliberation of the act was too evident to ignore. While I did have a surveillance camera on my porch, the coverage of my vehicle was non-existent. I calmed myself down by thinking it was likely a tempestuous child. I retrieved a pair of medical gloves and disposed of the creature before going on with the errand. The rotting body had a horrible smell. It was like an onion left out in humidity for days, and my stomach turned as I sealed it off in the garbage with the lid.
The next morning, I looked in my closet. Some of my favorite shirts had disintegrated. Holes and patches of destroyed fabric littered them. I found it odd, and even searched on-line for possible answers before I decided it had to be a moth infestation. I sprayed lavender. Information on a website statEd that was a cure-all, but the problem persisted. It bothered me that I had not seen a single aphid, but I pushed that concern away.
A few days afterward, when I had tossed my disheveled pieces of attire, the power in my house went out. This was not such an unusual occurrence during the heavy winter months. For it to occur in the summer was strange.
It was a rolling blackout. Once my house had electricity again, I noticed how someone moved items around.
Something turned my kitchen table on its side and stuffed into a part of the kitchen I would have never placed it in.
I grabbed a butcher knife and did a sweep of the premises, and I did not find anything. There were no footprints or signs of anything else tampered with. When I got to the second story, birds nested along the tree tops, and the repugnant odor of fish attacked me.
My allergies became insufferable over the next month. Nothing purchased over the counter which helped it.
6
I went to the beach on an overcast day. After roughly half a mile of walking, I saw an illustration someone had drawn in the sand with a stick. It was of a being with airfoils.
A light precipitation had fallen earlier. As I trailed along the former part of the sand, a glint in the corner of my eye caught my attention. I looked out at the water and saw what appeared to be a light blue outline of wings beneath the surface.
A phosphorescent wall of creatures surrounded me.
As the days march on, I know I am stalked by something I cannot rebel against, let alone have any agency or autonomy over. My pillowcases have shredded, the pipes in my basement have burst, and someone left me a gift at my front door. When I opened it, I saw mice scurry away. It was a book, and it was one about the history of fairies.
I picked it up and had to blow the dust off of it. Someone had stolen it from a musty subterranean chamber and brought it here.
I theorized that it was Samantha, passive aggressive with her disappointment in me. Yet I flip through its pages and find it all too familiar. I cannot help but wonder if this is a sign of something far more dangerous.

2023.05.28 13:42 Late-Childhood8480 Hypoglycemia after switching to a gf diet?
I've had a positive Celiac blood test, I'm waiting for results from a second one one to confirm my diagnosis. I'm expecting it to be positive as my first test was a very clear positive (over double a "high" result).
I've switched to a gluten free diet, after my last test (Thursday). After walking a couple of miles this morning before having lunch, I sat down and was sweating and light headed until I downed a glass of juice.
For breakfast I'd has some GF cereal (4 hours ago) and a few GF jaffa cakes (a couple hours ago). I also had a coffee (and I'm not a frequent coffee drinker). Not a huge breakfast but not nothing.
Would switching my diet have caused this? I've read it's quite unusual to have a hypo if you don't have diabetes and now I'm worried I've got something else I need to stress about...

2023.05.28 13:37 CrystalDragex 10 Day Summer Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto Itinerary Check
Hello everyone, I’m going to Japan and I wanted to ask some important questions. My itinerary is shown below.
- Which rail passes/cards would I need? This is my main concern as I have been researching this but some clarification would be greatly appreciated, especially when travelling to Osaka and Kyoto.
- My traveling partner eats only chicken and some fish (this is just being selective), so I haven’t really put specific places for lunch or dinner (I don’t have any dietary requirements). Any recommendations for food places that are easily accessible to foreigners would be helpful.
- Best options for cell data in Japan since my traveling partner doesn’t have international coverage?
- Please feel free to recommend anything you think is good also my schedule might be alittle too packed so anything you think is too packed would be helpful for planning (not everything on the itinerary is absolute, only the things that are in bold and italic.)Thank you in advance.
Note: sorry about the weird text positioning, i was directly copying thing from my own excel sheet so the text is all over the place.

2023.05.28 13:18 Feeling_Bumblebee_32 TIFU by consuming 3 black coffees back to back whilst fasting.
I know some people will see this and think, "well, obviously you don't consume 3 black coffees back to back", and probably not a great idea whilst fasting. - I know this, we live and learn.
I was 38hrs into a 48hr fast and had quite a poor night's sleep as the baby kept us awake most of the night. (Got about 4hrs of broken sleep)
I had a pretty busy day ahead and consumed the first coffee - double espresso, I got back from the gym and consumed another double espresso and when my partner woke up I made us both a black French press coffee. This was all before 11 am.
By about 1400 just before I broke my fast my heart was pounding in my chest at rest at about 136bpm which is very unusual for me as my rest is 58-62 - I was very panicky and took myself upstairs to try some box breathing to try and get my HR down.
I was unable to get my HR lower than 120 bpm at first and this made me worse I had a panic attack - my first in about 4 years.
I took my blood pressure and it was 110/72 - which made me feel a bit better but my pulse was still racing at rest and I felt like something terrible was going to happen to me - the common "feeling of impending doom" common with Anxiety attacks.
I phoned a doctor and explained my symptoms and they asked me to come in, I ended up having an ECG which showed completely normal.
After I described the context of the situation to the Doctor they suggested that the coffee was possibly a bad idea when fasting due to the rapid absorption of the caffeine which can trigger the release of adrenaline which would have increased my HR as it enacted the Fight or Flight response.
Safe to say I will be limiting my caffeine consumption in the future when fasting.
TL:DR - on the back end of a 48hr fast I consumed 3 strong coffees within an hour and a half and ended up having a heart scan because I thought I was dying.
