2023.03.26 14:29 Excalibur530 I don’t believe Palafin is still broken in OU.

Palafin was one of the first bans on Gen 9 OU and if memory serves me, the 6th fastest quick ban of all time. It’s Bulk Up set was found to be too overpowered for the current metagame, one of the several Pokémon said to be suspected when Pokémon Home connected to Scarlet and Violet. However, Walking Wake, Water Absorb Clodsire, Rotom - W, Dondozo, and Dragapult have all taken major spots in our current version of Gen 9 OU. Jet Punch is 4x resisted by the best Pokémon on the meta game, and there are more unaware Pokémon than ever! Sun is everywhere being the best Weather by far at the moment, with the Paradox forms running rampant, most beating Palafin 1 on 1. This all creates a mega game I believe Palafin can be in without dominating, or even being a top 5, however I would very much appreciate the discussion of this topic on whether Palafin deserves a suspect before Home.

What's your most kills in a game? just did 41k in 18h...
Total, 'forever' war this weekend. 18h game (Friday night, then all day Saturday, this morning and then finished it this evening)
https://preview.redd.it/hb6yjkbat2qa1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=86770970c7ae43a4a9ce7da58be3baf6d45cbb78
Had nothing on and was feeling under the weather so went for a big 4v4 (AI) using largest map (black forest) and AI set on hardest.

Basically didn't realise until 4-5h in that enemies I thought I had wiped out (purple) had actually just rebuilt their town with their other allies at the other end of the map. I managed to wipe out the turquoise, but then still had three to go, all condensed on about a third of the map. I was playing with the Persians so kept lobbing armies of 200 elite war elephants, and would destroy a few castles each time but they had dozens of those... Every time made som progress but they would rebuild between two onslaughts. Allies helpful at holding back the enemy but useless at destroying their town.

In the end I had to defeat the purples 3 separate times (they rebuilt twice), the orange and the grey tie each. At one point 12-14h in when I realised the purple grey and orange had rebuilt AGAIN at the other end of the map.... I thought I wouldn't be able to actually win outright.

Anyway what's your max / do the pros have tips to win less laboriously??

2023.03.26 14:16 baconnkegs How common is it for your roster to swap and change when working DIDO / FIFO (Australia)?

I joined my current company towards the end of last year on the premise that I'd be site-based on a 2/1 roster. However between delays from the client, wet weather and a few other minor issues, I have only really spent a total of 5 swings onsite since the end of October.
In similar situations with my previous company, my roster would never change. If site was flooded and there was no point of me being there, they'd just say to work from home or the office on my usual roster until things went back to normal.
With my current company though... The moment I'm not going to site, I'm straight back to M-F in the office with little to no warning. It's a royal pain in the ass when trying to organise anything, and I'm finding the sudden roster changes are constantly eating into my annual leave when I have stuff planned. A couple of examples:
  1. I was off from 23/12 - 03/01. Based on my roster and public holidays, I was originally only going to have to take 2 days of annual leave. Site got rained out on 16/12, and suddenly I'm back to M-F, and had to use up 7 days of leave instead.
  2. I had a week's holiday with the fam in Feb, all of which was supposed to be covered by my week off. The client threw a couple of delays at us and suddenly I'm back to M-F, and the boss is asking for my annual leave form for the week. There goes another 5 days.
There are several other times where I've had my plans uprooted, such as trying to move houses, plans to visit the parents, birthdays being missed, etc, but the abovementioned two are the ones that piss me off the most being that they've essentially eaten through all of my annual leave.
As a whole, I'm just getting to that stage now where I'm sick of being screwed around by the constant roster changes, and I'm at the point where I don't think I'm going to make it through the next 12-18 months on the project. Is this kind of behaviour common with FIFO and DIDO roles or am I just stuck with a shitty company?

2023.03.26 14:05 benign_listener Things overheard on a nature trail

“Any time I run I get an upset stomach. The floodgates just whoosh open.”
“What was your mile time?”
“They’re mission driven down there. It’s part of why I can’t be mad.”
“Hold on. I’m gonna take a picture. File a report.”
“It didn’t used to be a problem but now it’s getting progressively worse.”
“It’s a different day.”
“This new intern is pushing me right to the limit.”
“Daddy, Daddy, Daddy! Look! Duckies! Duckies! HONK HONK HONK HONK HONK! HELLO DUCKIES! HONK HONK HONK HONK!”
“I didn’t even make it back to my car last time. I had to bolt off the path, call an Uber to the side of the road, and ride to the nearest Walmart to use their facilities.”
“Just a little further. Gut it out.”
“Maybe we’ll stop after and get smoothies.”
“I get that she’s young and she’s new. But you know when you get into this kind of work that if our clients, you know, only made great life choices 100% of the time, then they wouldn’t be seeking our services. So for her to coming in with a dismissive or standoffish attitude like she’s judging them makes me want to just pull the plug on the whole thing. I want to support the schools and I‘ve only had good experiences with this program in the past. But this year I might really just pull the plug on the whole thing.”
“My friend grew up around there and she only has good things to say if I recall right.”
“On your left.”
“There’s a bench coming up.”
“It’s finally getting to that, like, sweet spot Goldilocks weather. I’d, man, I’d sleep outside if I could.”

2023.03.26 13:50 PM_ME_WINDMOLENS Any recommendations for co-work/living houses in the south of France, Italy or Spain?

Like the title says: does anyone have any awesome co-work/living houses they would recommend in south-France, Italy or Spain?
We have a car and are EU citizens so we basically have no restrictions. In the summer we will be staying in the middle of nowhere in Portugal so after that we’re looking to meet some people and maybe explore a new city/area. Valencia, Alicante, Turin, Barcelona, Madrid, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Rome, Bologna, Marseille all would be good, we’re more looking for a great place than a specific city. It’s for the month October but weather wise we don’t really care that much. Budget is €900-€1300

2023.03.26 13:49 ClearlyTom What Underused Cards Would You Actually Like To See Changed?

I've seen a lot of posts over the last few months calling for some major nerfs to certain cards and archetypes, (Golden Nekker, Reavers, Compass, removing Nilfgaard from the game, etc.) Which, honestly, aren't completely without merit.
I also saw a comment on a recent post saying that something like 50% (?) of cards never see play. Which is pretty tragic considering so many incredible card arts and unique abilities are never seen due to being overshadowed by the more meta cards.
I am of the opinion that we should be nerfing stronger cards to match weaker cards instead of the other way around..but I digress.
So my question is what cards and archetypes would you ACTUALLY like to see? Even minor changes. For example, until recently I had forgotten about a lot of the weather cards. [[Torrential Rain]] [[Biting Frost]] [[Impenetrable Fog]] and [[Skellige Storm]] are cards that I honesty forgot existed.
Weather effects like rain and frost are in a decent spot already, while fog and storm seem to have almost no use or support whatsoever.
Fog is a really cool effect with potential to destroy units hidden behind immunity/defenders, but is only used by foglets.
Storm is in a similar boat, Skellige having plenty of cards that interact with it, but only having Fulmar to actually put it on the board - which is awkward at best.
One minor change that could breathe some life into Storm would be to give Skellige Storm the 'Alchemy' tag, allowing it to be tutored by Ermion.
I want to avoid a ramble if possible, but I'd love to hear what the gorgeous people of Gwent think. What are some ideas you have to breathe something that resembles life into cards you never see?

2023.03.26 13:37 MwerenWR7-1 Open commission for nerdy build(shoulder holster for stationary)

Hello,
I'm looking for a leather shoulder holster to carry notebooks and pens primarily and cellphone, perhaps small edc multi-tool secondary.
I'm hoping for it be adjustable, able to be worn under jackets and over dress/tee shirts, modular if possible, and will last a lifetime with proper care
Info listed per quidelines- Budget: $100-400, but I'm open to exploring other ranges
Common details: Im not familiar with leather characteristics but Im hoping for a thick enough leather that won't tear, but will not be so rigid that it scuffs the clothing I wear with it. I'm not a stickler about designs, even fine with creator logos so long as their not incumbering or unconcealable. I'm hoping for a black or dark brown leather color to match as many outfits as possible. I image using this for work in the office (business casual) and other fair weather activities.
Image links/creator info: Alexey Stepanoff, Conancraft, St. Petersburg Russia

Livemaster.ru
Notes on creatointellectual property: I am NOT looking for this commission to look exactly like Mr. Stepanoff's work. It's simply the closest idea of what I'm looking/hoping for based on what I've been googling. I contacted Mr. Stepanoff and was told that I would need to be IN Russia to purchase his leather goods and that he does not ship outside of Russia. I then tried asking if an intermediary, a friend I have in Berlin, could purchase it on my behalf and we started to work something. Ultimately the money trasfer websites, poor Google translations, and unclear instructions to send money to him made me dubious that it was him i was talking to & no way of tracking who receives the money and shipping.
Time frame: 2-4 months, maybe longer if I can update shipping address.

2023.03.26 13:34 Starblast92150 Reasonable adjustment - intermittent unpaid leave

I am planning to approach my employer to request intermittent unpaid time off to manage a known medical condition.
I have bipolar with a seasonal component - predictably worse in the winter, generally it's cyclical and the periods of poor health are reasonably long (months) and therefore predictable. This condition is covered by the 2010 disability act.
I intend to essentially cut back to 80% part-time with reduced pay, but I want approximately 52 days of unpaid leave to take in chunks during the year to manage my health, I believe this is called annualised hours.
I want some clarity as to whether I should be making a request for flexible working or whether this is a request for a reasonable adjustment, or can it be a hybrid of the two?
I am concerned that my employer will see this as inconvenient and suggest I instead work 4 days a week consistently throughout the year. I don't think they will object to me cutting back my hours; in theory when these hours are worked in the year shouldn't make a difference to my employer as far as I can see from my understanding of the workload and my place of work. I work as a doctor in a team with 40+ other doctor's with a similar skillset so there should be room for flexibility.
The weather where I live is bad. The entirety of December gets an average 48 hours of sunshine. Since the condition I have has an element of being worse in the winter and there is correlation to sunshine hours I don't think it would benefit me to have one day off a week in winter, I would prefer to take more time off in the winter in chunks and even go abroad to visit my family where the weather is better. I also don't have family in the UK. Support networks can be important in mental health.
I want chunks of unpaid leave off I can use my time better to manage my health such as going abroad, but I'm concerned my employer will perceive this as me inconveniencing them because I want to take more holidays.
Any comments or advice are appreciated.

2023.03.26 13:32 puzzled_banana Expat friends suddenly leaving and I hit a new low

Hi expats,
I’m an expat from South America, and I’ve been living in the UK since September 2021. I just wanted to share a little bit about my experience here so far.
Making friends has been tough, but I’ve managed to meet some wonderful people and make some friends with other expats from different LatAm countries. However, lately, the weather has been really getting me down. In fact, my therapist is even suggesting that I consider medication.
But on Friday, my partner (who is also a latino expat) messaged one of our expat friends. This friend told us that he and his wife had just returned from their vacations but that they’re moving to Australia next week as he got a new job and he was required to be there asap.
This friend invited my partner and I to his flat yesterday, and the four of us spent all afternoon cooking and talking. The wife confided in me that she couldn't wait to leave because the weather has been affecting her really badly too, and that’s why they’ve been on holidays since December. She told me that she wanted to talk to me because she knew I’d understand as her husband (like my partner) is not affected by the UK weather and does not empathize with her.
At night, the four of us went to a Latin party and had a really good time. But today, the reality that they’re leaving hit me, and I’ve been crying and feeling really sad since I woke up. I’m happy for them, but also there’s a part of me that feels abandoned, lonely, and wonders if making friends is even worth it when the reality is that most likely we will never see each other again.
I’m not sure why I’m feeling so affected by this, but for the past two weeks, I noticed a marked worsening of my mood for no apparent reason.
I guess I just wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else has gone through something similar. It's tough being an expat, and sometimes it can be lonely, but I'm glad that I've made some friends here. If anyone has any advice on how to deal with the sadness of friends leaving, I'd be really grateful to hear it.
Thanks for reading.

2023.03.26 13:29 AbhiFT [REQUEST][STEAM] Gift card of $36 or £29.90 for MS Flight Simulator 2020 [FOURTH ATTEMPT]

This is my fourth try still asking for a GiftCard amounting to the same sale price of the game. I know copy paste is not appreciated here for re-attempts, but last time I really worked hard on the poem for three days (I Know the poem sucks) and people seemed displeased with it. Further I really don't have anymore to say. I have seen some old posts where this game was asked by people but was never gifted once, but some other games here are gifted again and again. I really don't know why this game doesn't get any love, but I would really appreciate you for gifting this to me. And I will one day pay you in some way or another.
What is MS Flight Simulator 2020 about?
Game (40th AE is the base game): MS Flight Simulator 40th Base Edition
Microsoft has a long history with Flight Simulators. Their first Flight simulator was released in 1982. While the previous games were fun, the new MS Flight Simulator does something incredible which no other game has ever done: It simulates the topography of the entire Earth as accurate as possible to real world through satellite data of Bing/Google maps along with Cloud Computing to generate better visuals and real data for air traffic and weather. Moreover, it also takes real wind and real-world time into consideration.
The game also has an active community-driven add-ons that only makes the game even more realistic and grander. If any game has the biggest world map of all, this is it. This game has the world map almost as big as the Earth itself. You can visit many of the world-famous attractions like Eiffel Tower, The Taj Mahal and even football stadiums! But you can also explore some famous landscapes as well, and if you fly low enough, you can experience some wildlife too. The game features Geese, Seagulls, Grizzly Bears, Black Bears, Elephants, Giraffes, Flamingos. You can experience the beautiful endless sea, but make sure you have enough fuel; You surely don't want to end up like Chuck Noland, and to make matters worse, you won't have your trustee, Wilson!
Microsoft Flight Simulator features 25 handcrafted airports, 4 classic commercial airports, 14 heliports and 15 glider airports. There are over 37,000 total airports in the game along with 37 airplanes, gliders, and helicopters with unique flight models, the likes of A320 Neo, Boeing 747, Cessna, DA62, and the cutest CTLS and A5, with detailed interiors of the cockpit. Isn't that the ultimate definition of simulation?
Why I want it:
I love exploring the world, something I am not financially able to do in real world. Every Time I watch something on TV, it's 90% of the time travel channels. The first time I tried Flight Simulator on my friend's PC, I fell in love with it. What I love about MSFS is the grand scale of the game. While in games like ETS 2 even a 4,000 KM journey can be completed in 3-4 hours, with MSFS, it would take real world time. For example, it takes ~1h 15m non-stop flight from Paris to London (Average), so it would also take almost the same amount of time in the game too (that is real world 1h 15m). Even staying in the cloudy sky is so much fun with sunlight shining, thunder and rain. I love playing simulation, tycoon games as they are the pinnacle of freedom in gaming world with no bounds. I remember when I played Flight simulator 2000 back in 2003 and wondered, what a shitty game. Seriously, at that time I thought who would play this game with 65% of the screen occupied by the cockpit? And here I am today.
What I love about the FS 2020 game:
  1. There is nothing unlocked in the world. I don't have to pay extra or do specific tasks to unlock some part of the world. I can visit any place any time!
  2. The scale is grand. This has the biggest map of any game.
  3. So many different airplanes to choose from and they all act and feel different.
  4. This game is very relaxing. I can just unwind and soak the beauty of the world from the comfort of my chair.
  5. I love this game cause it takes up whopping over 150GB of Disk space.
  6. I love pushing and flicking buttons. Especially the flick switches. They are so yumm to touch. And the clicky sound it makes is better than any orgasm. Basically, I am flicking and pushing buttons while flying around in a tube.
  7. I can crash the plane without having to worry about anything.
  8. Landing! Landing in this game is like going to final exam without studying anything. If you nail it, that feeling is amazing!
  9. I can fly along with the birds!
  10. I can land the plane anywhere I want. Even in a grassfields or your ex's backyard.
  11. I am tired of playing the repeat levels of Fall Guys.
  12. The full detailed cockpit is amazing!
  13. Realistic ATC commands with interactions. If I am angry, I can choose to ignore the ATC.
  14. I need to find more things I like after playing the game.
I am in touch with the MSFS community on Discord and YouTube videos, with always waiting for max737Ifly video to show up as his videos are so good and realistic (even my mom loves watching it). I just cannot get enough from this game.
I can play this game even when I am listening to Podcasts and it makes such an immersive experience. The tiny details the game provides, like waiting instructions from ATC before you move a muscle, dialing the knobs, flipping tiny switches in the cockpit only adds to the experience which I enjoy a lot. This game is enjoyed by both, casual gamers and professional pilots as well. The game sends me to another world and is like a therapy for me. And playing MS Flight Simulator makes me feel like a bird. The game brings me a joy I cannot express through words.
Here are some content from the game:
  1. Some beautiful scenes (this is just a trailer)
  2. Beautiful clouds
  3. FS vs Real life
  4. Montage
  5. Hudson River
Here is me playing FS on my friend's PC:
  1. Potash Ponds
  2. Simpson Desert
  3. The deep hole near Antarctica
why I can't get it:
I cannot afford it to be honest. I have taken some surveys to earn a bit here and there to collect for the game but it's such a long process and the reward is generally not worth it. My bad luck is that due to a technical mistake, the game was selling with 80% discount but due to time zone difference, I couldn't grab on the once in a lifetime opportunity. I also tried other giveaways for steam gift cards, but I never win them, and they are so rare to come by. I am really struggling with money and hence I am here.
Because I cannot afford the game, I tried to look into alternatives:
  1. Xplanes really is the only contender, but it lacks the real-time aspect of weather, wind, terrain MS Flight Simulator provides. Moreover, it's more about planes and their simulation than exploration.
  2. DCS World, which is a full-on military combat simulation game. Even though that game is extremely hard to play with a keyboard, I still managed to play some couple of hours in it. However, it's really not something I am interested in as It's not a game where you can explore the world and the Jet planes are very speedy and hard to control. Compared to that, Flight Simulator is more of an arcade style game and controlling it is fun and easy even with keyboard and mouse.
An explanation of why GamePass and MS Rewards ain't the way:
MS Rewards: In India, we can only get an Amazon gift voucher for Rs. 250 for 4,000 points. So only 162 points are allotted per day to farm. Given that, I get mere Rs. 250 in 25 days. So a total of something around 64,000 points required for a total of Rs 4000. This is what the game costs now post sale. So it would take me around more than a year to accumulate so many points. By then I might just lose interest in the game.
Game Pass: I don't have a card that can work with game pass. And in the long run it will cost me far more than what the game would have cost me. I also won 2 month free game pass key on reddit which I wasn't able to redeem due to card issue. It's a game that I plan to play for a really long time.
Also, I am saving to get a 500GB SSD just for this game along with some add-ons. I won't be asking here if I could have afforded all of these. I cannot get both of them. And SSD costs more than the game.
why you should gift it to me:
I will be playing this game everyday and you won't feel your money is wasted. This gift will bring such a big smile to my face that even Joker would feel ashamed. I know many people hoard games and don't play them, or they play for a few times and stop. I can guarantee you that once I get this game, I will be playing it every single day! This game is the reason I am for the first time requesting for a game here. And I promise I will do justice to the game and gifter. I am not requesting for any deluxe version or anything, just the base game will suffice for me. I can say it from my heart that the day I get this game, will be the day I will be flying in the air of joy! As this community works on the principle of making others happy with no selflessness! But I can never be happy unless I own this game. This game is the only game missing from my library of happiness.
If that's not enough, let me tell you something: you will feel on top of the world if you gift this game to me, even more than me. Don't ask me how. Be the first person to gift someone MS Flight Simulator on this sub and feel proud. If you don't feel on top the world, I will make sure to pick you up free of cost from your home in one of your choice of plane and will personally drop you on the top of Mt. Everest. I will also let you touch some buttons in the cockpit or let you control the yoke. But only you have to figure out how to get down from the Mt., as I will be flying all that time exploring the world. But if you don't like cold places, I can show you a secret place (This Secret place is a part of a DLC and there is a way to unlock this place)!
To anyone who gifts this game to me, I will forever remember you and engrave your name on my grave thanking you that I died in peace. And when I meet God, I will personally tell him that if it weren't for you, I would have gone to hell.
My steam ID
Price of base 40th Anniversary edition in India: Rs. 3,999. However, I will still ask for the discounted price of 2,999 which is $35. The rest I will try to manage from somewhere or use the MS Reward for 4 months.

I've noticed the standard iPhone weather app is usually wrong and when it "rains" it doesn't show me the next few hours, it just shows me how much it will rain in the next hour, even when it's dry outside.
In Toronto I used it and it was good but here it seems to be very inaccurate.
What do you guys use?

2023.03.26 13:23 Pure_Molasses1108 Increase return filter can from 14 to 16 inch

Increase return filter can from 14 to 16 inch
Facilities engineer here. Bought my first home and inspector failed to emphasize on issues with central air unit. Ended up having to get a contractor to replace the indoor unit but they didn't improve on duct work design. Since the weather is moderate now, I'm making it a pet project to fix myself(and save a lot of cash).Looking for some advice on what's the best approach to resize my return filter can. Talked to a few hvac persons and here's what i have so far. Unit can supply ~1200cfm (home is about 1200sqft) but the flex return is 14inch (750cfm). 16 inch flex should be enough but the existing return doesn't allow more room. Going to add another 8 or 10inch flex return and tie them together into a 16inch. Do I need to buy a new return filter can (and any videos on how to install it?) or is it OK to add a 14 to 16 reducer to the existing return can and go from there? Seeing conflicting info about flex vs round pipe flow capacities. They say 14inch metal should be able to handle 1300cfm...? Appreciate your advice in advance!
