There were admits to Purdue MSCS (WL campus) in Gradcafe on March 24. Can we expect for admits despite the program saying that they've rolled out all admissions on March 9?

2023.03.24 18:08 Mammoth-Bit9596 USC Applied Data Science Decision Status (International)
I haven't heard anything back from USC regarding the decision status. My GPA is not high at all (3.4), and I was wondering has anyone with that GPA got admitted to the program? Also, I saw at Gradcafe that many people has already received decisions, do they announce the admits first and then the rejects?

2023.03.24 04:43 No-Feeling-2319 Help in converting GPA to 4 scale
| Hello Folks, I'm currently applying for graduate studies in computer science and I needed some advice on how to convert my 10-scale GPA to 4-scale. I know that while applying, we must report GPA in the original scales, but I only need the conversion as I'm shortlisting unis for Fall'24 and I'm comparing my GPA against the GPA of admits in GradCafe. Since GradCafe reports GPA in a 4-scale, I will have to convert my GPA to 4-scale to appropriately compare. I'm currently using scholaro's GPA calculator and have entered the credits and corresponding grades. But, something seems to be off as it's reporting a cumulative GPA of 3.9/4 when my CGPA is 9.03/10. And my CGPA is definitely very average when compared to the my rest of my cohort where average GPA is around 9.3 Now, I'm confused if 3.9 is really my converted GPA and should I use this while comparing GPAs in GradCafe ?? So, it would help me a lot if anyone can let me know my converted GPA (just a rough estimate) so that I can shortlist unis aptly. 2023.03.23 19:16 Vaibhav2999 Penn State University vs Arizona State University. MS in CS
I've got admits to both Penn State and Arizona State University for MS in CS for Fall 2023.
After doing some research, I can see that in most criteria like ranking (csrankings and USNews), tuition fees, cohort size and TA/RA opportunities, Penn State is better than Arizona State.
However, I still have some apprehension considering I've seen a very low number of students applying/considering Penn State for their MS in CS programs. Is there something I'm missing (like location) which points to why Penn State does not get that many applications (going by this subreddit and gradcafe)?
Would love to know the reasoning if you do have one for one or the other choice

2023.03.23 07:25 Least_Cobbler3729 Anyone else just hoping for another wave(s) of decisions for Columbia MS DS?
I can't figure out from GradCafe if there have been waves of decisions for the MS DS program in the past few years. At this point, it's like how much longer till we just get any decision? Would be great if someone knows anything about this, if they are released in rounds, or if we all are just sitting on this "internal" waitlist for the next couple of months.

2023.03.23 05:08 SatisfactionCool7498 NEU MS CS Decision
Anyone received admit/reject decision in last one week? I haven't seen any post on this sub or on gradcafe. Is NEU done with all admits?
Also, my application status was changed to 'Awaiting Decision' in Feb and after a week it was changed back to 'Awaiting Review' and later the upload option was disabled. It has been in this state for sometime now. Anyone who were in same situation got a decision?

2023.03.23 01:30 Champsandcav Should I assume I’m denied?
Waiting to hear on my last masters program (denied from other 3, one was after interview). Stopped checking gradcafe but recently checked and saw one person post they got admitted early March and 2 posted about interviews in February. Portal still says under review. If I wasn’t given an interview why wouldn’t they just deny me? Is it smart to reach out to the program director?

2023.03.22 14:56 Sweet_Statement1104 Experiencing radio silence is tougher than I had imagined - MS DS Fall 23
I applied to 6 data science programs for the fall 23 Cycle, received rejections from 2 universities (IU Bloomington and UC Irvine).
I've seen people getting admits from NYU, Columbia and UMich Ann arbor on reddit and gradcafe but I haven't received anything. No mail. No updates on the portal. Nothing. It's just devastating going through this phase and the radio silence is almost traumatizing now. I can't stop checking my mails. Can't stop refreshing the portals. The only decision remaining is UPenn MSE DS. However, looking at the other decisions, I almost have no hopes.
This phase is making me question my self worth. Having significant industry experience, I convinced myself to pursue MS with great difficulty. I pulled myself into an academic mindset after a v.v.long time. I worked really hard on customization of the SoPs for every university through multiple iterations and reviews.
Sorry if this sounds like whining but wanted to be heard. This community has been extremely supportive. If you are in a similar situation as me, let's not lose hope and try to stay strong. Hope all of us get into our dream programs, sooner or later 💫

2023.03.20 17:05 ferahs Gradcafe ruined my night
Apparently people have received acceptances from the Masters program I've applied to while my portal is still not updated. When I emailed them about two weeks back, I was told my application has been reviewed and is in its final processing stages. I think I'm gonna be rejected. I don't know what to think to be honest.

2023.03.20 08:54 mournersandfunerals What's a good timeline for application prep?
I'm currently a sophomore and plan on taking a gap year before going to grad school (not sure if I want to do a phd or master's yet but right now I'm leaning towards a master's). What's an approximate timeline for when I should do things to prepare for applying? Is the timeline on gradcafe accurate? It's also confusing me a bit, so am I reading it right when I read it as saying that the timeline starts in March of the year before you want to start grad school? So for me since I plan on starting in fall 2026 I should be looking into programs and studying for the GRE in March 2025. I'm not sure if subject area matters for this but I'm planning on going into geology.
Also, is now too late to start research or is it a good time? I plan to start asking professors at my school soon but I'm worried that it might not look great on my application if I don't start until the end of my sophomore year.
