2023.05.31 09:35 AdInevitable475 Extension on confirming enrollment

Hi y'all! I just got accepted to NYU for MCC Steinhardt literally today! Feeling v elated but I realized that I have to confirm my enrollment in literally a week from now so june 6th. I am from tx and am still unfortunately waiting for a way more financially feasible schools decisions to release. I am supposed to find out by june 15 for that school but in the case I don't get in I would seriously consider NYU. So I was wondering if there was anyway I could get an enrollment decision extension??? by any means, like literally to june 15 would probably be fine for me. Does anyone know if they allow this if I talk to them or is it like a definite hard deadline. Thank you!!:D

2023.05.23 22:13 Dismal_Ad_687 Fall 2023 transfer worth it?

I just got into NYU steinhardt as a fall 2023 transfer for the media, culture, and communication major program. I am very excited because nyu has been my dream school since high school. However, they literally gave me no aid and I would have to pay $89k a year. I am transferring from a well-ranked private university that actually gave me a lot of financial aid, so I was wondering if it was possible to call NYU and appeal/ask them to match the financial aid that my current college is giving me. I really want to go to nyu so any advice on this would be greatly appreciated!!
UPDATE: we called the financial aid office and they confirmed that they don’t give grants or scholarships to transfers so the most that any transfers will get is federal aid (which is basically nothing). They recommended I apply to external scholarships but the amount I’d have to get to take the cost down to the cost at my current college is way too much. So unfortunately I won’t be going to nyu because I cannot pay more than my mother makes in a year. I’m really sad but I will make the best out of my current school because it is still a really great school and I have a strong support network there.

2023.05.21 23:07 No_Perception_9589 Is Applied Psychology at NYU worth it?

I got off the waitlist at NYU Steinhardt a few days ago for the spring semester. So, I'd be attending Hunter for my first semester. I want to major in psychology, but is it worth going to NYU for psych? But, my other option is to also go to Hunter for one year and then attend Stony for my second year as a transfer. Also, I'd be living at home, so tuition would be somewhere around 60k with only about 8k aid from the state.

2023.05.19 20:53 cy728 UNC or NYU

I was about to commit to UNC, but then I got accepted out of NYU’s waitlist. I want to do the premed track and maybe major in nutrition science or bio. Here are some key concerns I have:
NYU: accepted to Steinhardt -I got accepted as their spring cohort which means I have to gap my fall semester -tuition is 2x of UNC’s -Idk if they have a good nutrition program
UNC -might be hard to enroll in classes (cuz too many people? -not in the city -not accepted into any major (have to reapply to major in Sophomore yr
I also want to transfer in college, but if I’m going to NYU, I can only transfer starting Junior year. Which school should I choose?

2023.05.19 15:29 AnyBear8960 NYU or Northeastern

I just got off the NYU waitlist for Media Culture and Communications at Steinhardt and I need to decide in 4 days if I want to abandon Northeastern to go. I am a spring admit for NYU and a global scholar admit for northeastern (Oakland and London first year). So both are unique ways to start college. For northeastern I’m a Marketing major. I loveeeee the idea of the Co-op program at northeastern as I do not like school and would love to jump into the workforce quicker. Yet I prefer New York City over Boston but I could always live there after college. Both are same cost so that is not a factor. Which do you think would set me up better for a career in business (marketing). Keep in mind i am not a business major at NYU.
Edit: I chose NYU 🥳

2023.05.17 21:45 Puzzleheaded_Box_840 Music therapy graduate program advice

Hi everybody! I’m currently a junior in college pursuing a music performance major and music therapy minor, and I hope to go to grad school for music therapy once I graduate. I’ve started trying to narrow down my list of schools to apply for since I’ll start working on applications over the summer. My list so far is below; does anyone have any information, experience, or positive or negative comments about any of these programs and the surrounding areas? Thanks!
Additionally, does anyone know if it is possible to work as a music therapist in the United States if I were to go abroad for my master’s? I am interested in being near family in Ireland/UK, but I don’t want to put myself in a situation where I won’t have an option to work back at home.

2023.05.17 03:59 Affectionate_Pin2690 Steinhardt NYU Nutrition and Dietetics: 40-Credit Clinical Nutrition (MS) VS TC Columbia Nutrition and Public Health (MS), which one should I choose?

I recently got into both two graduate programs. I felt like TC, Columbia is definitely more prestigious but I think I love the course setting of NYU Nutrition better. NYU also has cheaper tuition which is more friendly for a poor student (But they're both very expensive lol) They are both MS-DRN programs, Which one should I pick?

Pls, I beg of you, I need legitimate ppl who can show a proof of their status as NYU graduate and the ss for the tickets. Please reach out to me, I’m willing to buy one ticket for candidate and 2-3 tickets for guests and open to swap deal for steinhardt radio city graduation!

2023.05.12 22:52 Lucy123186 UCLA vs NYU

Hi! I got off the NYU waitlist today and I’m unsure on which I should pick.
UCLA pros: - in pre-psych already - in state tuition
cons: - not really a strong business program (i want to go into business/marketing)
NYU
pros: - ny has amazing public transport - can possibly transfer into stern - if not has guaranteed CAS and Steinhardt so i can do either comp sci, psych, or communications
cons: - in liberal studies so stern isn’t promised - expensive as hell (i could afford it but i would feel bad) - spring admission (not that bothered about this tbh i do have ap credits)

Hi! I was just accepted off the waitlist at NYU. I've committed, but just wanted to know if a course sequence like this would be possible:
First 2 years: Liberal Studies Core
Major at Steinhardt: Media, Culture & Communication
Minor at Stern: Business of Entertainment, Media and Technology
How difficult is the BEMT minor?
Thank you :)

2023.05.08 17:36 inika9000 Looking for grad school for Music Business / Therapist and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Hi everyone, I'll start with the basics. I'm 25 and I graduated from Quinnipiac in 2020 with, I’m pretty sure, a 3.2 GPA (I just ordered my transcript so I can get the actual number later). I live in the NJ/NYC Metro area so the schools I am looking at are NYU and possibly other NYC schools for Music Business OR Rutgers / FDU for Social Work / mental health counseling. Obviously these are two different fields. The reason being is I'm not sure if I want to continue my current work in the music industry or become a therapist. Lately I’ve been going to therapy and it really has turned my life around but at the same time I realized I’d be really happy doing that for a living. Both I can envision being happy in so in a weird way I can flip a coin and go down whatever that road is. So in the 2ish years since I've been a session musician, a social media manager at a label, a manager in general, internship (with possibly one more soon) and some other stuff in the music industry. I think at this point if I am going to continue at some level in the music industry it'll be good to get a more specific degree.
So I guess I’m just looking for basic advice on how to talk to counselors, should I look for help through Quinnipiac / Old professors, literally anything. I really don’t know what I’m doing and had a guidance counselor when I was doing the undergrad process in 2016.
I guess another thing to point out, I have a good friend who already completed the NYU Steinhardt program and she is coaching me through that process. But she said I already missed out on going this September and would have to go next year. This isn't a problem because it gives me more time to save for NYC living in general and I can explore either more music industry work or look for a temp job / internship with therapy.
Hope this wasn't too all over the place, anything helps.

2023.05.08 03:35 Emergency_Job_3387 NYU Steinhardt Mental Health Counseling

Hello NYU folks.
I was just recently accepted into the Mental Health Counseling and Wellness MA program at NYU and was very excited. However, a social worker friend of mine who I really respect warned me INTENSELY from accepting the offer due to the fact that the Steinhardt program is a cash grab, a scam, and a really negative experience for students. Not to mention that counselors have less legal protections than Social Workers. This was my top choice for school, and I have heard nothing about it until just now.
My plan is very specific, and I know the trajectory I want to take. I want to become a sex therapist, and work with the queer and TGNC and Ace community.
Has anyone heard anything about the program? I can't find any student reviews anywhere. PLEASE HALP.
