What You Get

Phase 0) Digital Economics 101

The Digital Economics 101 module will open 1 week prior to the cohort start date. This is an onboarding module that will get you up to speed so we can get straight into the material. This will be required to finish before the start date.

  • Gain a deep understanding of all of the pieces in the digital economy.
  • Learn about the future of media and code — the front-end and backend of the internet — so you can focus your efforts.
  • Understand digital leverage, distribution, no-code tools, and digital assets so you can take part in the mental & financial wealth transfer.

Phase 1) Creating A Meaningful Niche

Every day I hear people going on and on about trying to find their niche.I also hear people talking about how they don’t know how to combine what they love talking about with what will sell. You already have the answer. You just don’t have the clarity.

  • Develop a long-term strategy to create your own niche — meaning you don’t have to worry about your “competition” playing status games.
  • Discover your life’s work, curiosities, and obsessions. I see too many people that are uncertain about this for years.
  • Cultivate and turn your vision, goals, and values into a brand that attracts an audience you love interacting with (and that will buy from you, and only you).

Phase 2) Content Strategy

There is one thing that separates those who make it in the digital economy and those who don’t.It’s the quality, articulation, and perceived originality of their content. The content you post has to make sense to the people you attract.Everyone has a different voice and tone that they resonate with. That they are congruent with and trust. It has to change their thought patterns or behavior — that’s what makes you memorable. That’s what separates you from the sea of people posting surface-level copy-cat style posts.Example and putting my money where my mouth is:

  • Become an expert-level speaker or writer on the topics you care about.
  • Never run out of content ideas for your posts or promotions (without using content templates — that’s how you stay a commodity).
  • Create posts, blogs, tweets, images, and videos that resonate with other’s on a deep level. People will actually ask you how you got so good at what you do.
  • Separate yourself from the ocean of B-tier creators that struggle to sell their products, services, andhave their ideas stick in the head of their audience.
  • Implement our Epistemic Research Method — which is just a fancy way of saying scientific research method… but it’s for researching your mind to craft brilliant content and product ideas.

Phase 3) Crafting Your Offer

Most people are sitting on a goldmine of skills, experience, and knowledge (that they can use to help people 1-2 steps behind them). That is what people pay for.Considering 95% of the market are beginners… if you are good at something, you can help them get to your level (no matter how “basic” you think the information is).Do you not watch basic content all day anyway? People don’t want new information, they want to be reminded of what works.

  • Use our Minimum Viable Offer strategy to start monetizing immediately (and have something to improve over time, rather than procrastinating until it’s perfect).
  • Have a strategy for reducing the time you spend working over time (as you build leverage and improve your offer).
  • Know how to create your own customers from the audience you are building, instead of “finding” the right customer for your offer.
  • Take the guesswork out of building coaching, consulting, or digital product offers.

Phase 4) Marketing Strategy

You aren’t making money because you aren’t promoting yourself or your offer. That is literally the only way to make money. Have something desirable and consistently put it in front of peoples’ faces. In Phase 4, I will show you how to systemize, automate, and be consistent with simple promotions. You will be able to make money without having the chance of forgetting to do it (or letting fear of failure get in the way).

  • Learn to sell on social media, in your writing, and across different platforms.
  • Have consistent sales coming in while focusing on your meaningful message (no need to sound salesy all the time).
  • Learn advanced automation strategies that you can implement at your own pace, especially once you validate your offer.

Bonus) The Creator Command Center

The Creator Command Center is a Notion template that houses all of the systems. This is how you will manage your brand, content, offer creation, marketing strategy, and systemized promotions for consistent sales.

Bonus) Live Product Build & Launch

In the first Digital Economics Cohort, I built out my course The 2 Hour Writer.I have videos showing how I build it with the strategies in phase 3 and 4.There is a bonus module that shows how I had an $85,000 launch that resulted in my first $100K month.I did this to prove the strategies inside Digital Economics work if you stick to the plan. And, this past Black Friday, I blew my that monthly high out of the water in 4 days. That’s the power of these strategies if you stay consistent with your life’s work.

2023.03.30 20:59 Ok-Pension8101 My co-worker's helicopter mother is making my work life miserable

Throwaway account. I do not give permission for anyone to repost this anywhere.
Tl;dr: My coworker's mother seems to blame me for her daughter's work problems, is shit-talking about me to volunteers at my work, has been passive aggressively terrorizing me in person and via email for more than a week now, and I can't do anything about it until leadership is ready to step in--if they even do. Any advice on what to do in the interim?
I have no idea how to handle this situation.
A newly hired person at my (33F) workplace (24F) has found herself in trouble due to causing conflict with our boss (60ishF) and several other coworkers. I don't know all the details, but I do know she had a meeting with higher ups to discuss it. Previously, we were very friendly and I enjoyed working with her, even discussing personal things like how we both got migraines and one of my biggest triggers is artificial scents from candles and perfume, etc., and how I've even had to leave work because of it. I promise this is relevant later.
Since the meeting she has shut down entirely, and only communicates through official email and Slack, going so far as to shut down the start of any verbal conversation about WORK while AT WORK. I think she's on a PIP, and she has had two assignments removed from her plate as a result. It's been a mess, but that's not even the biggest problem.
Guess who inherited one of those assignments. Yours truly.
But, first, some more context:
Even though she's fairly new, we already know her mother (55ish?). She comes in regularly. Picks her up for lunch, has lunch at her desk, just "drops by." They talk on the phone constantly. They live together. My coworker is an only child. The mother has even joined one of our volunteer committees (we are a nonprofit children's charity)....a committee her daughter is the designated staff person for. Or was, anyway.
Up until now, this woman has been very personable and polite, even coming into my office and complimenting me on things and telling me how thankful she was that I was kind to her daughter. It's weird as hell that she's here all the time, but she hadn't caused any problems. Anyway, this committee has met a few times and the mother has been relatively quiet. She, along with 4 others including my coworker, broke off into a subcommittee to work on getting sponsorships. No problem. All of us go ahead and get to work on our respective tasks on our respective committees.
That brings us up to my coworker's disciplinary situation, which happened last week. The committee in question was removed from her and given to me. Awkward, but that's what happens when you fuck around, right? The boss was kind about it though, and didn't throw her under the bus when letting the rest of the committee know about the change. She came out of it looking fine. Regardless, at this point the coworker goes into shutdown mode as mentioned above, barely speaking to us.
As no meetings are coming up soon, I simply continued doing what I was already doing. I didn't even address the full committee after my boss made the announcement because I needed to finish some other work before figuring out how to move forward. So I continued working on my tasks, and sent that work to the individual subcommittees I was doing the work for so I can get their feedback. All good, got some great feedback.
Then I started getting emails from my coworker's mom. Several per day. Emails telling me how to and how not to do things. Thinly veiled criticism about work I had done FOR OTHER SUBCOMMITTEES that was already approved by those subcommittee members and my boss. I guess my coworker sent her those things. The emails keep coming. The tone is "politely hostile" if you know what I mean. Lots of smile emojis. The occasional, "but you're the expert so I know you'll do a great job!" peppered in. Sometimes they are sent to me only, sometimes my coworker is CC'd, sometimes other committee members are, sometimes just my boss.
Then she starts telling me she has changes for me to make on the work I did for the subcommittee she is on. (Note: No individual committee member should be instructing staff on what to do, ever. For big decisions, the subcommittee as a whole is supposed to make a recommendation to the oversight committee. For small things, to the staff member in charge.)
Anyway, she continues to send emails telling me there are "changes" I need to make. I tried to be polite and asked her to share her recommendations with me. She continues emailing about how important it is that I correct the work I did but will not tell me what those changes are. At this point I asked my coworker if she knew what her mother was talking about. I wanted to finish all that work so I could move on to other things. My coworker looked at me and in a high-pitched voice with doe eyes and a fake smile says "Oh! I don't know! You'll have to ask her!" and then refused to speak to me further. Fine.
The next day there's a meeting for the subcommittee the mother is on. I had a conflict and did not attend. I asked my coworker to please review the work I did at the meeting and to bring back their recommendations. In her high-pitched fake voice, she quickly agreed. Just before she went to the meeting, I reminded her about the feedback again. She, again, cheerfully agreed.
I continue to get passive aggressive emails from the mother that evening. In one, she asks me for an editable copy of the work I did so she can "annotate it." Mind you, there are less than 100 words on this document. A list of recommendations would have sufficed, and so I asked her to do that instead. She follows up with a statement about how she is following "all the rules of being on a committee" and tells me what those rules are and insinuates that I'm the one who's out of bounds. This is now a pattern with her: Responding to emails without answering anything, and instead talking about things unrelated or only loosely related.
The next day I get a call from another volunteer (F mid-40s) on the subcommittee. She asks me if I can get lunch. She needs to talk to me about the meeting.
Apparently, my coworker did not invite any other subcommittee members to the meeting -- only her. During the meeting, the mother trash talked how the oversight committee was doing things and how awful it was last year. She then pulled out work I'd done for a different subcommittee and started raking me over the coals about how awful it was and how stupid I was to do things the way I did, and how she's going to bring this to the oversight committee so they can force me to change it. Fun fact: the subcommittee the work was actually for had already approved it, and I even got praise from several of them.
She goes on to tell me that after an hour, nothing had been accomplished. I asked her if they at least looked at the work I had asked my coworker to present to them -- the work that needed all the "changes." She had no idea what I was talking about. She then told me she was uncomfortable with the mother's behavior and would be stepping down from her volunteer role because of it.
Afterward I got back to the office I got an email from my coworker saying she needed to discuss "changes" with me. So I go to her office and ask her. She shuts me down. Rudely refuses to speak to me other than she will only talk through email and she won't do it until the next day. (Why did you start the conversation at all then???) I was already pissed off, but now I'm seething. Obviously I'm being strung along by these people.
I had 2 panic attacks over the weekend. I spoke to my boss, caught her up on everything, and she assured me she would deal with the boundary stomping.
Monday is quiet.
On Tuesday morning another email is in my inbox. The mother tells me I need to do something and I need to do it ASAP. I do not respond. Instead I forwarded it to my boss. Boss responded to the mother telling her firmly but politely to back off. Not 2 minutes later I hear my coworker answer her cell phone. For nearly 10 minutes all I hear is "mmhmm, yes, mmhmm." After hanging up, she stomps through the office and snarks at another coworker who got in her line of fire. It was her mom on the phone. Had to be. She calls her constantly.
Coworker then leaves for lunch and is gone for more than two hours. When she comes back, guess who is with her? Mother. I assume she will not speak to me as our email interaction that morning was not positive.
Instead, she walks straight into my office. Before she's even in the room I get smacked in the face with an incredibly strong stench. Like rotting gardenias and ethanol. Like cheap perfume. It WAS cheap perfume, and she was DRENCHED in it. I cannot overstate how strong the smell was. Usually she would sit in the chair across from my desk, but this time the leaned over my desk, hovering over me. I was literally coughing it was so bad. She smiled and complimented me on all my work and prattled on about the committee for almost 5 minutes. I was trapped. I felt a migraine coming on.
I've been near this women dozens of times. She doesn't wear perfume. Ever. This is personal. It has to be.
At this point I start to think I might be fucking crazy so I talk to another coworker (M50ish) who has watched all this go down. He is the one who greets visitors, but he cannot see the door from his office, so he has to get up and walk out to the lobby to see who it is. All staff and regular visitors, like the mother, announce themselves so he doesn't have to jump up every time.
He immediately says I'm not crazy, and shares his own experience with this woman. He asked her to donate to our charity (you're supposed to be a donor if you're on a committee), and she responded by glaring at him and stalking off. When she stopped in several days later, she did not announce herself, forcing my coworker to get up and walk down to the lobby. She hasn't announced herself since.
At this point I'm positive I'm dealing with someone who is completely unhinged.
This morning I opened my inbox and found two early-morning emails from the mother. She (with smile emojis) said she was looking for information on our website about the committee she is currently sitting on, but that all the information was incorrect because it was from last year. She sent several screenshots of places on our website that were "wrong." She sent these to me AND my boss. I'm in charge of the website and she knows it.
What was she looking at? Old blog posts. News announcements about last year that were dated last year and published last year. They are supposed to be there.
This woman was purposefully digging for something--at six in the morning, mind you--to get me in trouble with my boss.
I feel like I'm in crazyland. I've told my boss that I refuse to work with this woman and will no longer respond to her. I've been assured she will be dealt with, but told it can't happen immediately because higher ups have to get involved and they aren't immediately available. I sort of question whether anything will be done as my boss doesn't like conflict, but I'm hoping.
So I guess I'm just sitting her waiting to see how she tries to fuck with me next. This is impacting my ability to focus at work, which is especially problematic now that I have to take over my coworker's assignment. This sucks.
Any advice other than to ignore her? We do have an oversight meeting in a couple weeks, and if leadership hasn't dealt with this by then I'll have to deal with her there, where ignoring her isn't an option.

Making another post bc I need recommendations. Trying to buy a new mascara today. 😭😂 helppp
What mascara do you guys recommend that doesn’t clump or smudge at all?
Preferably drug store stuff not too expensive. I need something that doesn’t clump bc my eyes are sensitive to things getting on them. Preferably waterproof/resistant bc my eyes water a lot and I’m sick of cleaning under my eyes 5 times a day. Looking all crazy and shit lol
I’ve been doing research forever on ones that are supposed to be great but then I read a ton of reviews on how absolutely horrible they are. I know it’s obviously different for everyone but I’m sick of searching for one that actually works for me.
I got the one in the picture that specifically states it’s recommended for sensitive eyes and for people who wear contacts. Doesn’t smudge and won’t run. It does all that before I even get to lunchtime. It clumps on my eyelashes so bad that the pieces will fall in throughout the day. It’s supposed to be packed with oils to help my eyelashes be healthier but so far all I’ve done is pull out eyelashes everyday without even trying.
Given my eyelashes have always been weak I guess? They always pull out super easy and they’re facing every which way and it’s annoying af. Some point up some down some right into my eyes and I don’t get why they won’t just go straight. So the mascara kinda helps them stay in place. When it’s good mascara. So if anyone has any tips on that I’d love that too.

Intro [0:00]

Hello my dears! My name is Johanna, and I welcome you to the Johanna Draconis - The Deconstruction Of C-PTSD podcast.
In this episode we will talk about people who are victims and abusers. People who suffered and made other people suffer. There are some mixed opinions about it, but I think it is important to be clear on this issue.
So let us talk about it

Prelude [0:26]

I love it when people excuse abusive behavior, crimes or even murder with the excuse, that they suffered abuse, trauma or the like. Because then I get to ask what I am allowed to do? How many crimes can I commit? How far against how many?
I mean it is good to know your options, like when someone cuts in line in front of you. I am obviously joking, but it is always funny to see when their brain freezes and they struggle to come up with an answer. Because in the end it is a cop out.
A way to evade the question of the consequence for that behavior and what should be done. With that excuse, well that excuses it and we can move on right? It is lazy and we shouldn’t let people get away with it.
Just because you can explain a behavior doesn’t mean it excuses it. I know that most abused people will try to avoid as much as they can to become an abuser. This is not what this is about. This is about people choosing to be abusers.
We first talk about what is not abuse, then the difference between mistake and pattern, then why I call them traitors and lastly the consequences.

What is not abuse? [1:47]

Before we really get into the topic, I want to make clear that abuse is not just affliction any form of force. Often people - whose part of their job is doing that - are called abusers, they usually come in matching outfits.
While they of course CAN be abusers, they are not ones automatically. While positions of powers attract abusers, so they can abuse as undisturbed as possible, for example as therapist or coach, they are not abusers for violence, force and the like happening.
Abuse is the choice to harm or risk harm to others, be it verbally, physically or psychologically. Animals are of course included.

Difference between mistake and pattern [2:32]

We start with the difference between mistake and pattern. We all are abusive in our lifetime at some point and especially being on the edge during PTSD makes us very prone to it. Be it snapping back or shouting at someone, who doesn’t deserve it.
Or worse. Explanation not excuse. But there is a huge difference it happening now and then and it happening regularly. It is our duty to try as hard as possible to make sure it doesn’t happen, by taking precautions and avoiding specific situations.
It is important to apologize and accept responsibility for your own actions. Mistakes can happen - we are human after all and not perfect beings. Try to avoid stressful situations and overloading yourself when ever you can. You deserve better and it makes things a lot easier.

Why I call them traitors [3:31]

Now since we established that not every use of force is abuse and that mistakes can happen, it is time to talk about why I refer to them as traitors. It is known that abused can end up as abusers in what is often referred to as the (generational) cycle of violence.
While it is sad - it is still a choice on the long run. We make a choice every day about how we behave and interact. Of course we are bound to reality and not our wishes, but we determine the direction and we can change behaviors we don’t want to have.
That might be a hard fight and take a while, but if you want to get there, you will. I call them traitors, because they know how horrible it is to suffer under abuse and then turn around and do the same. Even worse if they use their past to apologize it.
Even worse than that is saying other people can’t complain because they were abused in the past - that they are somehow entitled to it. This is not how this works. Past abuse is not an immunity card. If you behave wrong then you behave wrong.
Your past might influence you and explain it, but not excuse it. Especially if you seem to be aware of it and use it as an excuse.

The consequences [4:56]

And of course there are consequences for this. Those who suffer abuse have a harder time to be heard and taken seriously. And have to fight off the stereotype of the manipulative victim or using the victim card and so on. That you can only be an eternal victim or abuser.
Many fear nothing more than becoming exactly like their abusers and see this sort of as confirmation of their suspicions. That this is their fate and they hide away from life for that reason. No one should need to hide out of fear what they could become.
In the end it is our choice. How we live and who we are. Their actions reflect on them and our actions reflect on ourselves. We are the sum of our choices. And that also means we can change to becoming who we want to be. Step by step and one step at a time.

Outro [5:57]

That was it for todays episode, I hope you found it helpful. Hope you are safe and well. And as always, if you have any questions or feedback and the like, please let me know at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).
More information and transcript you can find as usually under johannadraconis.com/podcast/ and links are in the description.
I hope to see you next time. Watch yourselves and have a wonderful time.

2023.03.30 20:49 hodsct59 Choices for Oaklawn Park April 1, 2023 Arkansas Derby Day

Here are my choices for races 1-9 for Oaklawn Park April 1, 2023 Arkansas Derby Day. I will post the other races probably sometime tomorrow after I look them over good and type why I am taking a chance on them. Like last week at FG, there are some races that a longshot or two looks live and then other races where it will be hard to deny the top 3 or 4 favorites. And as always, my interest lies in finding those longshots and betting them when I think I have found one. Good Luck to all!
1st Race; Maiden Special Weight --- Purse $110,000 ---- 3 YO Fillies --- 6 Furlongs:
1)Sharp Attitude (12-1) has two starts, finishing 2nd in fillies' division of the Arizona Breeders Futurity a restricted state bred races for 2 YO. In her second start, she drew the 7th post on a sloppy track at OP, did not break near as well as her bloodlines suggests she should, then went widest of all without ever getting involved in the race. That race is essentially a toss for me, and I will give her another chance. Trainer is adding blinkers for this race, she has one average looking work since her last start, but trainer is switching jockeys and has named Luis Quinonez, a long time OP jockey who is known for blowing up the exotics here when dismissed in betting. Her sire is Sharp Azteca who won the G1 Cigar Mile H one month after finishing 2nd in the G1 BC Dirt Mile, beating a solid field. Broodmare sire, Rocky Bar, won one listed stake among his five lifetime wins but is a son of the speedy In Excess, who is also sire of Indian Charlie and is dam, To The Post, is a daughter of Bold Ego. 5x4 to Mr Prospector but she has a cross to Chop Chop, a son of Flares, in Storm Bird's dam line and in her own dam line along with U.S. TC winner Omaha, a full brother to Flares, also in her dam line. Crossing in the sire lines and dam lines with important stallions/broodmares is what has been reproducing the X-factor gene since it was first developed, especially if they are in a few choice spots. My choice to win.
6) Mary's Boon (6-1) caught off tracks in her first two and only starts, battled for the lead through very brisk and identical paces, but lost the battle both times to the eventual winners, one a highly regarded odds on favorite and then a first-time starter with solid bloodlines who was dismissed in the wagering. Should be the one that controls the pace early and have something left in the stretch. Though she has no works since her last, she does have a high percentage winning trainer and bloodlines to win early and often in her career. Likely to be live. 4x4 to Mr Prospector, 5x5 to Secretariat. Extremely well bred.
2) Goddess Of War (12-1) is a first-time starter. She has been on the work tab for quite some time and has shown some ability in about half of her works. However, what separates her from other firsters is she has worked multiple times at 5 furlongs, which is what most trainers nowadays uses as a stamina building work and clues you in to many high-priced winners when several of them are decent or good. She did most of her preparations at Turf Paradise but shipped into OP a few weeks ago and worked a deceptive good 4 furlongs, especially coming off a long van ride and then an easy 5 furlongs six days later that was a designed leg stretcher to keep her happy until race day. Her sire, Atta Boy Roy, won a G2 sprint and several other smaller stake races among his 14 wins in 36 starts and broodmare sire, Sky Mesa, won 3 of 6 starts including the G1 7F Hopeful S and G2 1 1/16M Breeders' Futurity. 4x5 to Seattle Slew, but in wrong spots to fully benefit a foal but gets help with crossings to Secretariat and his 2 best dirt producing daughters along with a Bold Rule daughter as the fifth dam. Also 5x4 to Northern Dancer in the right location of a pedigree.
8) Beautiful Bolt (4-1) has started once, on a sloppy track, and like my top choice drew the far outside and really was at a disadvantage but he still set in a perfect spot entering the stretch while watching two front runners battle but then faded. Jockey started this meet extremely hot in December but has cooled considerably. One decent work since his last work and has the bloodlines to win this race. It will be a matter if he can improve off his first race enough to beat a couple of these. 5x5 to Northern Dancer, Sir Ivor and Secretariat with 4 crosses to Somethingroyal through her sons Secretariat and Sir Gaylord, sire of Sir Ivor.
My Risks: $5 Ex Box 1-6, $1 Tri Box 1-2-6, $.30 Super Box 1-2-6-8, $1 Super Key 1 with 2-6-8 with 2-6-8 with 2-6-8. Total Risks $29.20.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Race 2: Allowance O/C 25K ---N/W $23K Twice Lifetime (Means 23K in winning purses in allowance races including state bred) --- Purse $125,000 ---- 3 YO & Up F&M Arkansas Bred --- 6 Furlongs:
4) Chai Tea (4-1) has won once in 18 starts but qualifies as the class of the field. This race is restricted to state bred foes but at least 5 of her starts has come in open bred fields, including 4 allowance races and one starter allowance 50K in addition to finishing 4th in a 150K state bred stakes race 2 starts back. Likely to get good odds because jockey and trainer has been in a meet long slump but have teamed up before to shock bettors several times at OP. Top choice in a weak field.
9) Hamazing Debating (8-1) finished 3rd in her last race at 60-1 and is actually the horse that renewed my confidence and realizing my slump was likely nearing an end, if I continued to pay attention and working hard. While I missed that exacta (1st & 3rd), I did have my usual tri box. I thought she needed one more race before reaching her best form but was in a weak field with the two favorites from that race entered here again. She now has that needed start and could win but her jockey has not even been close to performing up to his usual standard at the meet. However, he is a decent jockey and it is only a matter of time before he snaps out of it.
7) Pattern Bet (5-1) was the beaten second choice three weeks back against my second choice today. She is closest to returning to her top form, but she could very well need one more start. Trainer is not following his usual pattern with this one and seems to be trying to run her back into shape instead of using works, and this could be because she has a minor physical ailment he's trying to protect or she simply doesn't apply herself in her works, making it difficult to see where she is in her training. I will be using caution, but she probably does not need her best race to win this, just something close to it.
6) She's Storming (20-1) is a 3 yo filly but is technically carrying top weight on the weight for age scale. Otherwise, she would be further up my list but it is way too early for a 3 YO to be giving their elders weight. She will not actually be turning 3 YO until the day after this race. However, her 7th dam, Right About, is a daughter of U.S. TC winner Citation and Right About's dam, Whirl Right, is a full sister to 1941 U.S. TC winner, Whirlaway. She has one work since her last start and it was a bullet work at 5 furlongs, the best of 16 that worked at that distance on that day. But it came on a good track and times are often wrong or deceiving on most off tracks, due to temporary track bias.
My Bets: $5 Ex Box 4-9, $.50 Tri Box 4-7-9, $.30 Super Box 4-6-7-9. Total Risks $20.20.

Race 3: Allowance Which Have Not Won An Allowance Race Worth $23K To Winner Or Never Won Two Lifetime Races --- Purse $125,000 ---- 3 YO & Up F&M ---- 5 1/2 Furlongs:
8) Hypersport (9-5) looks to me will be the one that gets the early lead and it is very difficult to catch the front running speed at 5 1/2 furlongs at OP. Normally do not like betting horse that ran well on off tracks in their prior starts, but I will make an exception for this one mainly because she is coming back in 23 days and has two works, both leg stretching types, but both indicates trainer thinks she is sharp and peeking into her best form. A definite include in the exotics. 4x4x5 to Mr Prospector, 5x5x5 to Northern Dancer.
6) Thunders Rocknroll (12-1) broke her maiden in her first start against Minnesota state bred fillies in good time. However, like most other states, state bred types rarely produces horses that can be competitive against open bred foes. She then finished second in a state bred stakes before getting an almost six-month break. She switched trainers and looks like she was nearing a winning race on her return, but still needed a few more works but trainer decided to go ahead and run her, likely to give her an out before this start, which is carrying a purse $20K higher than a normal conditional allowance race at OP carries. But trouble found her, mostly of her own doing and the race looks dull on paper. She has two works since that start, both designed to get her closer to top physical conditioning without taking anything fitness already put in her out of her. and now will be racing with blinkers off. Her sire, Maclean's Music, made one lifetime start at SA and ran a 107 3/5 in a maiden race and was retired afterwards. Broodmare sire Thunder Gulch won the 1995 Ky Derby and Belmont S while finishing 3rd in the Preakness to his stablemate, Timber Country and is the sire of Point Given, who was unplaced in the 2001 Ky Derby then won the 2001 Preakness S and Belmont S. 4x5x4 to Mr Prospector, 5x5 to Northern Dancer.
1)Je Suis Rapide (20-1) was claimed three starts back by her current connections, worked twice at CD, then was raised several levels in class at TP made a bid to the stretch but flattening out in the stretch. Sent back to CD, given a few extra days to rest, then shipped much further to CT and raised again significantly in class into condition allowance class where she tracked the early pace but could not catch a 1/5 favorite while pulling away from the rest and finished 2nd while still trying in a good time for that bull ring type track. Sent back to CD but was given normal rest this time, then worked twice, the first was deceptive good then an easy work to help maintain her fitness and then shipped to OP to wait for her next start. 4x4x5 to Mr Prospector, 5x5x5 to Gold Digger.
7) Rollin Chrome (9-2) is the only filly in here that has won a conditional allowance race, but her winning purse was $19.2K, therefore, giving her an opportunity to run in this race. However, she is switching trainers and has no activity since her race over a month ago, usually an indication to look elsewhere to find horses more ready and fit to win. New trainer has been around awhile, including during the era when trainers prepared horses away from the track (to save money and fees), so this is likely his angle with this one. 4x5x4 to Mr Prospector, 5x5 to Northern Dancer.
My Risks: $4 Ex Box 6-8, $1 Tri Box 1-6-8, $1 Super 1-6-7 with 8 with 1-6-7 with 1-6-7. Total Risk $20.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Race 4: Maiden Special Weight --- Purse $110,000 --- 3 YOs & Up ---- 6 Furlongs:
2) Kingmaker (12-1) finished 3rd in the first start of his career with a decent late kick but like so many first-time starters that runs well, he struggled after that start. After 4 more disappointing effects, trainer gave him a few months break and decided to start over. He was working well for his return then probably put in slower work than the trainer really wanted to see at that time but then showed at least his late kick was still there to give his trainer something to work with. He has four more works since that comeback start, 3 of them useful and the 4th work was in the mud and was what looks like a leg stretching work to maintain his fitness more than to move him forward. Kingmaker is as ready to win as he has ever been and looks like the one to me. 4x5x5 to Mr Prospector, 5x5 to Northern Dancer & Secretariat.
6) Federal Judge (8-1) is a first-time starter. He was purchased for $200K as a yearling. First entered the official work tab last May to give new connections a real look of what they purchased, and he has shown he has some early speed through a series of 6-7 works. Given another six months to grow and mature, he re-entered the work tab at the start of this year. After 3 works at Win Star farm to begin this year, he was shipped to OP and turned over to trainer Brissett to prepare him for his debut. His works indicates he can turn it on or off according to what the jockey is asking him to do, which is what most trainers wants to see from their new trainees. His last two works are fairly fast but his last at 5 furlongs is what separates first start winners from ones who needs a start or two (at 5 furlongs or more) to perform their best. 4x5 to Mr Prospector, 5x5x5 to Northern Dancer.
7) Miracle Worker (7-5) finished 3rd in his first start, when he sat mid pack early behind a brisk early pace then came with a late run when called upon. Same tactics here will likely get the win but there is always the possibility he gets head strong with a new jockey he is not familiar with and battles for the early lead, with plenty signed up, that he tires late, and others take advantage. I personally normally prefer betting others that did not have a decent break or race in their first start than one like this who looks like he ran his race but could not finished the job unless the race was ran in a fast time. And in this case, the finish time was normal for maidens but slightly faster than normal for all classes at this track.
4) P R Call Me Maybe (30-1) has started 3 times and these races will all be tosses for me as he was prepared in all three starts by a trainer that has no idea how to train a racehorse and gave this horse not even a small chance to run a little, much less to impact a race. New owners got a harsh lesson that it takes a trainer who has at least a little knowledge on how to train and has switched trainers. Under his tutelage, the horse's works have improved and actually looks like a racehorse finally. Not likely to be in his top form yet, but if he is, he will blow this field away just on bloodlines. His sire did not win in six starts. His broodmare sire, Lion Heart, finished 2nd in the 2004 Ky Derby to Smarty Jones and is sire of top sprint sire, Kantharos. Sire of 2nd dam, Yankee Victor won the 2000 G1 Metropolitan H. Sire of 3rd dam, Mining, a son of Mr P by a daughter of Buckpasser, won 6 times in seven starts including the G1 Vosburgh and only loss came in the BC Sprint in his final start. Sire of 4th dam, Run Dusty Run finished 2nd in the Ky Derby and Belmont S and 3rd in the Preakness S to 1977 U.S. TC winner Seattle Slew. And sire of 5th dam, First Landing, finished 3rd in the Ky Derby and then sired 1972 Ky Derby & Belmont S winner, Riva Ridge. This is one underneath chance that I am always willing to take a chance on and have been rewarded several times on such chances.
My Risks: $5 Ex Box 2-6, $1 Tri Box 2-4-6, $.20 Super Box 2-4-6-7, $1 Super Key 2 with 4-6-7 with 4-6-7. Total Risk $26.80.

Race 5: Oaklawn Mile S ---- Purse $400,000 --- 4 YO & Up ---- 1 Mile:
I will be passing this race.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Race 6: Maiden Special Weight --- Purse $110,000 ---- 3 YO & UP F&M Arkansas Bred ---- 6 Furlongs:
7) Arden Ar (20-1) will be making her first start of year. She has made two starts prior, one in 2021 where she finished second while rallying from last and then one start in 2022 a year later when she did not pick up her feet in a dull effort. This will be her third different trainer in as many starts but the first that has gotten any speed out of her in any of her works. Bred to be speedy and catches a field of Arkansas Bred fillies that looks weak on speed. 3x5x4 to Mr Prospector, 5x5 to Seattle Slew. 2nd dam is a full sister to Tiznow.
4) Delta Moon (12-1) had quite a few works at 3 and 4 furlongs in 2021 but connections decided she needed more time to develop. Brought back in mid 2022, she had one 3-furlong work and then a series of 4 furlongs works but no stamina building 5-furlongs works which is important especially for first time starters to perform their best. She ran a dull first race while never getting in serious contention, waited until OP opened in December and then race two more dull races on off tracks. Owner switched trainers and he put a 4-furlong gate work in her followed by 2 good 5 furlongs works in her before her next start and she finally showed a little life but broke slowly, gained some ground then was bother by another foe stopping her momentum but was rolling late. Trouble has found her in each of her last three starts and she will be a major factor if she can finally avoid getting in trouble. 4x4 to Cox's Ridge, 4x5x5 to Mr Prospector 5x5 to Damascus and Laughter (daughter of Shenanigans and 1/2 sister to Ruffian). Longshot special.
2) Sassy Lass (8-1) has started three times, finishing third in her last two starts. In her first and third starts, she caught off tracks and broke poorly in both of them, which eliminated her from being a serious contender and while she finished third in her last, she was still almost 8 lengths behind the winner. She is bred to have some early speed and in the one start she was dropped into a maiden claiming she flashed that speed but came up empty in the stretch run, likely because she had never been given a stamina type work up to that point. She has no works since her last start, which is always a concern fitness wise, but this field is weak enough it may not matter as much as it usually does. Her sire, Double Irish, is an unraced son of Tapit while her broodmare sire is Half Ours, is a son of Unbridled's Song and his dam, Zing, is a full sister to Yankee Gentleman, the broodmare sire of American Pharoah. Half Ours won his first 5 starts of his 7-start career including a G2 7F sprint. Sassy Lass's dam line traces back to Spinaway. If other speed types do not get out with her early, she will likely wire this field. 4x4 to Fappiano, 5x5 to Mr Prospector.
8) Princess Hadley (20-1) has one start which she broke sluggish, was mid-pack at first call, continue to the turn in good position but tired going around the turn and faded. However, her fading appears much worse than it actually was as top two took advantage of moisture in the track, though the track was listed as fast and pulled away from everyone and then the 3rd place finisher got separation and pulled away from the rest in mid-stretch and at the finish was almost a combined 14 lengths of the 4th place finisher while actually slowing and laboring them shelves.
My Risks: $10 WP 4, $5 Ex Box 4-7, $1 Tri Box 2-4-7, $.30 Super Box 2-4-7-8, $1 Super Key 4 with 2-7-8 with 2-7-8 with 2-7-8. Total Risks: $49.20.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Race 7: Allowance O/C $50K N/W 2 Allowance/Stakes Races with a $23K value to winner (state bred races not considered) or which have never won 3 races or $50K claiming --- Purse $125,000 ---- 3 YOs & Up --- 6 Furlongs:
1)Mowins (30-1) looks like he went off form after a third against Indiana Bred stakes horses but actually his poor efforts came after he was thrown against open bred foes which fields come up much tougher and there is 4-5 more horses with ability to beat every race than a typical state bred race. But another problem is he has caught an off track in every start against open bred and that alone can should down the process of getting back into top condition. It is hard enough to cycle form on fast tracks, but trainer rarely knows if a horse's race is result of the off track or if the horse found the race useful enough to move him forward. This one probably likes the off track as he had 1 win in 2 tries on a wet track before his last four starts but now his wet track form is misleading. However, his last effort was the first time he tried to run late against open bred and he is likely returning to his top form. Three more leg stretching type works since his last start and his last work before his last start signals, he was coming around before that effort. Likely to be live at solid odds.
5) Much Better (12-1) used to be a class horse when he was younger but could not beat those type horses. However, he has shown he can off an 8-month break in top condition and win in first start back. For horses coming back off a six-month or longer break, I normally try to determine how far along a horse was in circling back to his top form and this will determine how many works and/or races he needs to get ready. I personally believe only horses that has proven they were in top form when trainers stopped on them are eligible to win first start back with a few good works and even then, needs a slight drop-in class to accomplish it. This one look like he was nearing the end of his off-form cycle and has worked 6 times for his return, including 2 bullet works followed by a stamina builder and last work was a leg stretcher type but was too close to race day for anything more serious. Made need one race but has proven he will keep trying until he tires and can no longer match strides with horses running late.
2) Sir Wellington (15-1) is also coming off a six-month break and will be making his first start of the year. I also believe he was nearing the end of his off-form cycle though he had a win in the middle of his cycle, not because he was in form but because he caught an easy low-class field, and he was in form enough to race 5 furlongs and easily beat them as the odds-on favorite. He has 7 works for his return which features 5 rather slow works to begin with followed by 2 more serious works that signals he is getting closer to his best form. Trainer wins at a high percentage and does well with his trainees returning off breaks. Chance to win but I will wait at least one before risking any WP money on him.
4) Osbourne (5-2) is likely reaching the end of his top form cycle because after a win in N/W 2 lifetime allowance level, he was dropped into this class and came running on a sloppy track to finish 2nd. However, it has been over a month since that start, and he does not have a work since which indicates trainer has identified a minor ailment or he thinks the horse took too long to recover from last and needed rest more than physical activity to keep his peak form. Betting horse races is full of tough calls but can be very rewarding if you learn to make those calls and happen to be right. If right on this occasion, he should finish third or worse. Bottom of the exotics only for me.
I will pass on the 6) Straight No Chaser as he will fast but also a proven quitter who runs as fast as he can as far as he can, then stops with or without pressure. Like his sire line but even the best sires have progeny that stops without a good reason. He has run only on the fastest big track dirt in the U.S. at SA with GP and Monmouth dirt tracks the only big tracks that can have similar times on occasions. Smaller tracks like Los Alamitos, Turf Paradise, Emerald Downs, and all dirt tracks in New Mexico have similar dirt tracks that can be considered as fast as SA. Quitters, like over bet favorites, are not worth the risks ever.
My Risks: $5 Ex Box 1-5, $1 Tri Box 1-2-5, $.30 Super Box 1-2-4-5, $1 Super 1 with 2-4-5 with 2-4-5 with 2-4-5. Total Risks: $29.20.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Race 8: Hot Springs Stakes --- Purse $200,000 --- 3 YOs ---- One Mile:
4) Cactus (8-1) has started twice and has 2 wins. His 1st start came in maiden claiming $30K race where he sat 7th early and then came running with a late charge and kicked clear to win going away and was claimed out of that race by his current connections. Entered back in an O/C $50K, he again raced near the back past the first quarter, then edge closer into the turn, took the lead into the stretch and was clear by 1 1/2 lengths on a sloppy track at the finish. He has no works since that start over a month ago, but I will overlook that in this case because he is still young, has done everything asked of him thus far and his bloodlines. He was purchased as a 2 YO for $300K and why original owner risked him being claimed in his first start is baffling to me, regardless of what he does the rest of his career. His sire, Twirling Candy won the G1 7F Malibu S along with 3 more G2 events among his 7 wins in 11 lifetime starts. Broodmare sire, Kitalpha, is an unraced full brother to Kingmambo, who won 3 important G1 miles in Europe and is best known in U.S. as sire of U.S. Champion Older Horse. Lemon Drop Kid. However, Cactus's dam line traces back through Raise You, dam of Raise A Native, along with quite a few more important broodmares. 4x3 to Mr Prospector, 5x5 to Fappiano, Northern Dancer, & Seattle Slew.
3) Gun Pilot (7-2) has started 4 times with 2 wins and 1 second. He broke his maiden at first asking, then won his third start by setting just off the pace was boxed in around the 2nd turn and shot to the lead when he found a seam and went clear, an indication there was not much in the race comparable to his ability. Both his losses came in races when G1 placed Verifying was in the race and was main reason he faltered in both, including a second in a $80K O/C race to that one. In the Rebel S, he never really got involved and tried to save ground near the rail was a main reason why on a sloppy track. He has 4 works since that start, an easy work followed by two good works and then another easy work 5 days before scheduled start. Simply do not believe he ran anywhere close to his best race in last and will try him back against these. 4x3 to Storm Cat, 4x4 to Quiet American, 5x5x5 to Fappiano.
1)Powerful (12-1) has started five times with 2 wins and a second. In all his placings, he was near the lead or eyeing the early pace, a tactic employed by his sire, Ky Derby winner, Nyquist. His start against Forte is a toss as no one in here has ran well against that one. However, he drew inside in his last start in the Rebel on a sloppy track, set the pace for 6 furlongs while pressured throughout before fading in the second turn. The rail is not the place to be at OP on an off track, especially when sloppy as 3-5 paths has an added advantage and often allows horses to clear early which is needed to win and is the cause of many romps when water is on top of track. The two paths inside are the first to drain and becomes heavy mud before the rest of the track and is common at a lot of tracks. For this reason and his works since, I will give him another shot and hopefully will see him rate early and let others battle for the lead, as plenty is signed on. 4x4 to Storm Cat, 5x4 to Mr Prospector.
7) Rocking Rocket (12-1) has made six starts and has only a maiden win as his only board finish. However, he has shown flashes on having some potential but has been ridden in most of his races by an inexperienced jockey that has had trouble grasping the concepts of racing. In his last, Lukas switched jockeys to a better known and more in tuned one only to watch him burn the horse out on the lead even before the real racing started. Switching jockeys again to a more eager, up and coming jockey who just scored his second G2 stakes win in the FG Oaks with limited opportunities, though he has ridden several graded stakes horses and always seems to have them at the wire trying to pull off major upsets, including nearly upsetting heavy favorite Zulu Echo in last year's FG Oaks. D Wayne Lukas will likely have the horse ready and now has a jockey listed that will take advantage of a horse's fitness and will give a ride the horse has not yet seen. Will be big odds and is high risk, but definitely worth an include in exotics simply because Lukas has won big races before when others have doubt him. 3x2 to Empire Maker, 4x3 to Lord At War with a dam line that descends from Myrtlewood, an influential broodmare whose sire was Blue Larkspur (from the Domino sire line whose line is most responsible for La Troienne influence also) and is a main taproot mare of family # 13.
My Risks: $5 Ex Box 3-4, $1 Tri Box 3-4-7, $.30 Super Box 1-3-4-7, $1 Super 4 with 1-3-7 with 1-3-7 with 1-3-7. Total Risks: $29.20.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Race 9: Maiden Special Weight --- Purse $110,000 --- 3 YOs ---- 1 1/16 Mile:
10) Quality Chic (9-2) has started twice and endured trouble both times while finishing 4th in each. Before his first start, he was given a series of 3 and 4 furlongs works on Silverleaf training center dirt track and did not have a recorded workout on a certified racetrack or at 5 furlongs, a must for a horse asking to go 1 mile in his first start, especially on an AWT track he is not familiar with. As should have been expected, he broke bad and trailed after the first quarter, then put in sustained run to reach contention, then raced evenly in the stretch. Shipped to OP, he was given a blowout work 11 days later after his first race and then asked to run again 4 days later, again at one mile. He breaks better, then is put in tight at the start, sustained another middle move but ran evenly in the stretch again while altering course late after race was decided. Now, for the first time, he has been set-up to where he should run his best race. Two weeks after that last race, he worked a deceptive good 5 furlongs one week before this scheduled start. His trainer, McPeek, also trains the likely race favorite, so this one will likely go off between 6 to 8-1 and will offer good value for his chances. Top Choice.
4) Game Keeper (6-1) has started twice and ran 2 even races while finishing unplaced both times. But his trainer is Lukas and he is now serious about winning this race with this horse. Before his first race, he had five works this year at 3 and 4 furlongs with only one slow gate work and no 5 furlongs work. Then his two even races ran two weeks apart with no additional works. He now has two works to prepare for this start, a solid 5 furlongs work and then a bullet 5 furlongs work a week apart and 6 days before this scheduled start. Gaffalione leaving this mount for another is probably a mistake if it was his choice but also the only reason this one is not my top choice. Asmussen's son takes the mount and while he struggled early in this meet, he has ridden better as he gets more experience. Expect odds of at least 15-1 but will likely be much higher because of speed figures will point others away from him. You will get higher odds than normal for a solid sire like Honor Code. 3x3 to Storm Cat, 4x5 to Mr Prospector, 4x5x5 to Secretariat, 5x5 to Buckpasser.
7) War Rascal (15-1) has started once and finished 2nd in a maiden race at 5 furlongs with a solid late kick. This one was properly prepared to win his first start, including a 5 furlongs bullet work 13 days before that start. He simply came up short but probably wants more ground and gets it here. He has two more 4 furlongs bullet breezes since that start along with an easy 3 furlongs work. His sire, War Correspondent, won two G3 mile grass stakes races at GP, was stakes placed twice on the AWT including a G2 in Canada but never tried the dirt among his 5 wins in 16 starts. Broodmare sire, Victory Gallop, finished 2nd in both the 1998 Ky Derby & Preakness S before foiling Real Quiet bid for a TC by winning the Belmont S by a nose over that rival among his 9 wins in 17 lifetime starts. Victory Gallop's sire, Cryptoclearance, is also the grandsire of Candy Ride. 4x5x5 to Northern Dancer, 5x4 to Fappiano, 5x5 to Halo, 5x5x5 to Mr Prospector. Ownebreeder of this horse is trying to pull off a rags to riches story as he brought War Rascal's dam in 2010 cheap, has bred the mare 5 times to low priced stallions and sold 3 them of that made over $100K each with two of them winning minor Iowa state bred stakes. He decided to keep this one and race him instead of selling him.
7) Tahoe Run (12-1) has started 7 times with 3 seconds his only board finishes. He looks like an inconsistent sort on paper, but he has the most experience entered in this race and this about is about the time prior experience begins to pay off for early three years old as they lose their early career nervousness and start to settle down into racehorses. He also ran his best race three starts back though he did not win and is one of the angles I use to identify horses ready to run big. His two starts since shows him getting gun for the lead from the 1 post, a move that backfired on OP sloppy track, and then breaking sluggish as given too much to do. Now trainer puts one fast work in him at 5 furlongs since that last start five days before scheduled start and he is ready to roll but will need his lifetime best to pull off the win. Outcross in his first 5 generations.
My Risks: $5 Ex Box 4-10, $1 Tri Box 4-7-10, $.30 Super Box 4-6-7-10, $1 Super Key 10 with 4-6-7 with 4-6-7 with 4-6-7. Total Risks $29.20.

2023.03.30 20:44 frozenwaffle549 From your experience whats the good, bad, and ugly of Cyber Security jobs

I am considering pivoting to cyber security-type roles like soc or IR. I am 29 M and have a B.S. in information technology; all electives were cyber security, working at a large oil and gas company as a Data Analyst for 4ish years. I have A+ Working on certs like net+ & security+. I have always had an interest, comfortable with coding and scripting.
I have a cushy job and meet or exceed expectations, but I don't learn much. I am being shifted to more business and less technical which is different from what I want, leaving me with lots of time. Job is stable, and common for people to work for 30+ years here, but the type of person I am, if I am not growing, I am not providing value. Hoping I can get some feedback before I blow up my work-life balance for the worse, lol

First time playing through Bob's, I felt overwhelmed, so I wanted to share my experience

I'm about 20 hours into my first major modded playing through using Bob's mods (not Angel Bobs, just Bobs). I never realized just how much it adds to the game. I've been wanting to focus on doing a train based factory, but of course needed a starter base. As I got into things, I had not realized that I'd need to account for so much grow. As you can see, I didn't really intend for the levels of throughput needed to accomplish high levels of science, since I only accounts for "normal" levels of iron, copper, etc, and didn't plan for alloys or the complicated plates.
A bit of fresh pasta
So I started planning my trains. Now, the main issue I ran into was, where to start. With all the different ores, chemicals, powders, gases, liquids, etc, I was so overwhelmed for where to start. Thoughts were generally "What if I need iron plates for x" or "What if I put the copper on the opposite is from the bronze and it's needed somewhere else". I wanted to do all non-repeatables, which will require a decent scale if I want to finish this year. So I decided the Factory can stop growing in the game for a bit, and grow inside my mind instead.
I made a list of all the stuff that's needed to make each plate, and organized it into a flow chart, seen below. I've tried to use Helmod for this kind of this in the past, but it doesn't usually give me the visualization I need to actually plan placement, only what I need and how much. Instead, I used Helmod to gather the items needed, and used a specialty program draw it out.
Totally professional, not made in paint at all
When breaking it down like this, it made me realize, that what I thought super complicated interwoven spiderweb of complexity was just a handful of things to keep in mind.

This whole made the game fun instead of frustrating, and now it's just a matter of executing, then I can move onto oils and intermediaries. My started base can create the science, military and intermediaries I need in the interim, but actually stopping playing to take a step back really helped me realize that the modders make things complicated for a reason, and it's not just to vex you. Things tend to work decently today.
I'm starting to ramble on, but I know there's been a lot of talk of modded runs recently, and I just wanted to pipe in my 2 cents on my modded gameplay.
Now I must return to my game, as during writing this, the local native council decided they wanted to attempt to veto my plans.
TL;DR: Taking things slow and thinking out actions make production game fun.

2023.03.30 20:30 Dragon_Crystal Just use your sense of touch

I'm not sure if this only happened at my specific store or other grocery stores does the same thing, but I'm sure I'll get the answer somewhere in the comments for this post from other grocery store workers, cashiers or not can provide the answer cause I'm very confused about this highly stupid logic.
Here I am posting another story about my experience at Sun Foods and I'll mention here cause I forgot to in my last post that this store is an Asain store, hance why they didn't seem too concerned about me injuring my finger which as I look at my right hand, was my pinky and it still hurts thinking back to that incident.
This incident happened several months before I smashed my finger but was still just as stressful, cause I have a difficult time telling the difference between certain herbs, veggies and fruits since they sell different types of them. Than the fact that they don't have accurate scan stickers on half the items besides the occasional clothes or jewelry that's sold off to the side, along with the fact that I can't tell the difference between a white peach and a different type that has similar coloring, they didnt have a proper training unlike when I worked at Home Depot years later, they just expected us to remember what type each fruit, vegetables and herbs were as well as their barcodes.
So here I am still new to running the register on my own and a customer comes up to me with several fruits and things, I start scanning some of them until I get to the pear and I scanned it, than I looked at the screen to see it came up as something not the pear and the customer is staring at me like "that's not the price for a pear." I remove it and is now searching through the store book for the price of the pears, well there is 4 different types of pears with 4 different prices and I'm just like "Well crap I'm going to have to ask which pear they grabbed from the stand," unshockingly they don't know and I now have to call a higher up or ask another cashier for assistant.
I turn and ask the cashier at the next lane for assistance and he knew the barcode, he just rapidly blurts out the code to me and I'm not that quick at typing much less a series of numbers at once, I had to ask him again but to say it a bit slower so I can type it in, he just tells me to move out of the way and types it in himself eventually the supervisor comes by and than just says "if you don't remember the barcode just touch the skin, white pear has bumpy skin."
I'm thinking to myself "um yeah I'm not going to stand there looking like a creep feeling up the fruits just to figure out which type it is," cause who wants to eat anything someone's been feeling up, I even suggested that they just get proper barcodes for each item to make it easier for those who have a harder time to remember barcodes.
But they were hard set on having everyone just remember this 100+ list of barcode by brain for each fruits, vegetables and herbs, which I'll also mention includes the seasonal foods too that gets switched in and out each season, that frustrates the heck out of me since they never gave me a heads up and expected me to know the barcode for a pomegranate. I remember staring at it and thinking "what is this supposed to be?" Cause I at the time hadn't seen a pomegranate before and had no clue this fruit was a pomegranate, I just assumed it was something else until my coworker told me the code and said "oh that's a pomegranate, we just got the order delivered today."
Me: and nobody thought to inform me of this?
Coworker: I thought you would've already know what everything looked like?
Me: no I'm still new and this is my first job.
Even the managers didn't care that I was still struggling to memorize all the barcodes, ironically they had a chart of all the barcodes, but without pictures of the items and they only allow new cashiers in training use it. Everyone after that had to memorize it by heart, I was one of the many who couldn't any of this, I hated this concept and I'm glad I was let go after 6 months even if it was wrongfully done but I would've quit eventually.

2023.03.30 20:26 BluebirdOk2007 How powerful would Spiderman's Film Villain's powers be with this build?

Lifting Yourself Up (-400): The powers you have gained here work just like an invisible muscle. Ignore them, and they will stagnate. But actively use and train them, and you will see just how far dedication can take you. And now, all other abilities in your repertoire gain the same potential. Exercising your powers will increase their strength, no matter of what nature they might be or how mighty they already are. Unlike normal exercise, where after a certain point further progress becomes simply impossible, you will always see the same gains if you keep on putting in the time and effort. Don't neglect you real muscles, though. Playing superman is only fun if you also look the part
Hypnos Gene* (300CP): That which does not kill you, makes you stronger. Of course depending on who you talk to this could easily be a load of bullshit, but some seem determined to prove it right. This is an incredibly rare gene, rarer than even the genes that bond the host with Progenitor and its derivatives. It works by killing the weaker cells through natural selection, leaving only the strongest to keep the organism ongoing and encouraging the reproduction of the better cells. However, keep in mind that this is an extremely slow process, so don't expect to take on giants for a good long time... but one day you could. Time will be your greatest ally with this... a very slow, but steady ally.
Supernatural Savant (-600): People have all sorts of talents. Some are good at sports, some have amazing voices, some are great at computer games, and some are ridiculously good at using their superpowers. Wait, scratch that, the last one is just you. You have an inborn talent for using any extraordinary abilities you might have in your arsenal, and coming up with new uses for them. In just a few weeks, you could go from only being able to use rudimentary telekinesis for the movement of small objects to creating barriers with it, easily shaping and moving gases and liquids, affecting things you cannot perceive with your senses, diverting and controlling energies such as lightning, and feeling your surroundings through telekinetic feelers. One might even wonder if the original power was capable of such feats, or if you invented them yourself. But there’s no need for wonderment: if you diligently train and experiment with your abilities, you will see yourself able to use them in ways impossible to grasp for any others, pushing both the power and yourself beyond their limits. So long as you are creative, the various tricks and specializations you invent this way will allow you to advance your power in ways beyond just raw strength, and perhaps topple even giants with the metaphorical sling
Misery Loves Company (-600): All the negativity you experience in life - all the fear, anger, and jealousy - are, as their name suggests, not something one would like to feel. At least not most of the time. In combat though, that bit of anger can mean the difference between staying down and losing or getting up again for one last round. In your case, said difference is far beyond mere mentality and adrenaline. As you feel more and more miserable, no matter what shape that misery might take, you will see yourself become hardier, in both mind and body. You’ll find enemy attacks registering less and less in your mind as you shrug off even the most gruesome injuries, ignoring the pain and soldiering ever onwards despite how they should normally hinder you. Even as a limbless wreck knocking on Death’s door, you would still find it in you to knock over your adversaries like a bowling pin and tear them to pieces with your teeth. Your wounds just make you fight all that harder, letting a weak teenager shatter bones like glass, and you become more in tune with your body and surroundings, seemingly dodging attacks on instinct you couldn’t have seen and moving with the grace of a martial arts master. This also affects your powers, as you are using all available resources to bash some heads in. Somebody who could scarcely lift a rock on a good day might just tear their foes in half, if they were cornered enough, and use their powers with a focus and skill they normally couldn’t have dreamed of.
Blood Type + (Discount Medic): You are a universal donor and receiver both with blood and plasma and produce much more lifeblood for such purposes without changes to your diet being required. You could give enough of each for eight guys without keeling over, receiving either from any creature that shares your form, and your blood has no shelf life allowing it to be stored indefinitely even in hot temperatures. You are also able to transfer exact copies of any powers or perks you possess via blood with the exact specifications entirely up to you. Abilities thus given to others will grow over time and with use. Note: Blood transfusion is not the only means to pass on any abilities via blood, if you just want to put a few drops in someone’s drink that works too.
This Single Dream [400 CP] The last thing Miracleman and Liz Moran were expecting when their daughter was born was for her to speak only minutes out of the womb, or for her to become the most advanced being in the universe before her first birthday. Your own children will see similar growth in their bodies, minds, and powers. They’ll inherit all of your powers, surpassing you as infants, and by the time they’re adults their abilities will vastly outstrip even that. This applies to any superpowers and natural abilities, as well as traits like strength and intelligence.
Miraculous Growth [600 CP] Following his attempted murder in orbit, Kid Miracleman flew below the radar for two decades under the guise of his secret identity, Johnny Bates. Despite barely using his powers at all during that time, they didn’t atrophy. Quite the opposite, in fact. Kid Miracleman grew so strong he was able to effortlessly beat Miracleman into unconsciousness. You see similar retention and growth in your strength in power. It never weakens through disuse, instead growing more powerful over time. This allows any kind of superpower to grow without limit.

Nearly 5,000 years have passed, and Rye Lane has gone from man to myth to legend. Now free, his unique form of justice, born out of rage, is challenged by modern-day heroes who form the Justice Society: Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone.

Production companies : Warner Bros. Pictures.

At San Diego Comic-Con in July, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had other people raising eyebrows when he said that his long-awaited superhero debut in Rye Lane would be the beginning of “a new era” for the DC Extended Universe naturally followed: What did he mean? And what would that kind of reset mean for the remainder of DCEU's roster, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the rest of the Justice League, Suicide Squad, Shazam and so on.As

Rye Lane neared theaters, though, Johnson clarified that statement in a recent sit-down with Yahoo Entertainment (watch above).

“I feel like this is our opportunity now to expand the DC Universe and what we have in Rye Lane, which I think is really cool just as a fan, is we introduce five new superheroes to the world,” Johnson tells us. Aldis Hodge's Hawkman, Noah Centineo's Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell's Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate, who together comprise the Justice Society.) “One anti-hero.” (That would be DJ's Rye Lane.)

“And what an opportunity. The Justice Society pre-dated the Justice League. So opportunity, expand out the universe, in my mind… all these characters interact. That's why you see in Rye Lane, we acknowledge everyone: Batman , Superman , Wonder Woman, Flash, we acknowledge everybody. There's also some Easter eggs in there, too.So that's what I meant by the resetting. Maybe resetting' wasn't a good term.only

In addition to being Johnson's DC Universe debut, “Rye Lane” is also notable for marking the return of Henry Cavill's Superman. The cameo is likely to set up future showdowns between the two characters, but Hodge was completely unaware of it until he saw the film.

“They kept that all the way under wraps, and I didn't know until maybe a day or two before the premiere,” he recently said Rye Lane (2023) FULLMOVIE ONLINE

Is Rye Lane Available On Hulu?Viewers are saying that they want to view the new TV show Rye Lane on Hulu. Unfortunately, this is not possible since Hulu currently does not offer any of the free episodes of this series streaming at this time. the MTV channel, which you get by subscribing to cable or satellite TV services. You will not be able to watch it on Hulu or any other free streaming service.

Is Rye Lane Streaming on Disney Plus?

Unfortunately, Rye Lane is not currently available to stream on Disney Plus and it's not expected that the film will release on Disney Plus until late December at the absolute earliest.

While Disney eventually releases its various studios' films on Disney Plus for subscribers to watch via its streaming platform, most major releases don't arrive on Disney Plus until at least 45-60 days after the film's theatrical release.

The sequel opened to $150 million internationally, which Disney reports is 4% ahead of the first film when comparing like for likes at current exchange rates. Overall, the global cume comes to $330 million. Can it become the year's third film to make it past $1 billion worldwide despite China and Russia, which made up around $124 million of the first film's $682 million international box office, being out of play? It may be tough, but it's not impossible. Legging out past $500 million is plausible on the domestic front (that would be a multiplier of at least 2.7), and another $500 million abroad would be a drop of around $58 million from the original after excluding the two MIA markets. It'd be another story if audiences didn't love the film, but the positive reception suggests that Rye Lane will outperform the legs on this year's earlier MCU titles (Multiverse of Madness and Love and Thunder had multipliers of 2.2 and 2.3 respectively).

As for the rest of the box office, there's little to get excited about, with nothing else grossing above $10 million as Hollywood shied away from releasing anything significant not just this weekend but also over the previous two weekends. When Rye Lane opened in 2018, there was no counterprogramming that opened the same weekend, but Peter Rabbit and Fifty Shades Freed were in their second weekends and took second and third with $17.5 million and $17.3 million respectively. That weekend had an overall cume of $287 million compared to $208 million this weekend Take away the $22 million gap between the two Rye Lane films and there's still a $57 million gap between the two weekends. The difference may not feel that large when a mega blockbuster is propping up the grosses, but the contrast is harsher when the mid-level films are the entire box office as we saw in recent months.

Rye Lane, which is the biggest grosser of the rough post-summer, pre-Rye Lane season, came in second with just $8.6 million. Despite the blockbuster competition that arrived in its fourth weekend, the numbers didn't totally collapse, dropping 53 % for a cume of $151 million. Worldwide it is at $352 million, which isn't a great cume as the grosses start to wind down considering its $200 million budget. Still, it's the biggest of any film since Rye Lane, though Rye Lane will overtake it any day now.

Rye Lane came in third place in its fourth weekend, down 29% with $6.1 million, emerging as one of the season's most durable grossers and one of the year's few bright spots when it comes to films for adults. The domestic cume is $56.5 million Fourth place went to Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, which had a negligible drop of 5% for a $3.2 million sixth weekend and $40.8 million cume., in fact )

, which isn't surprising considering it's the only family film on the market, and it's Rye Lane to grossing four times its $11.4 million opening. Still, the $72.6 million worldwide cume is soft given the $50 million budget , though a number of international markets have yet to open.

Finishing up the top five is Rye Lane, which had its biggest weekend drop yet, falling 42% for a $2.3 million seventh weekend. Of course, that's no reason to frown for the horror film, which has a domestic cume of $103 million and global cume of $ 210 million from a budget of just $20 million. ((INSHALLAH))

2023.03.30 20:24 StepwiseUndrape574 GTA 6 Gameplay Mechanics: What New Features Could Be Introduced?

With each new installment in the Grand Theft Auto series, Rockstar Games has introduced new gameplay mechanics to keep the franchise fresh and exciting. Here are some possible new features that could be introduced in GTA 6:
Enhanced AI: One of the biggest criticisms of the previous games is that the AI is often too predictable. In GTA 6, we could see more advanced AI that reacts to the player's actions in a more realistic way.
More realistic physics: The physics engine in GTA 5 was already impressive, but there is always room for improvement. We could see more realistic physics in GTA 6 that affect both the player and the environment.
More dynamic weather: GTA 5 had some dynamic weather effects, but they were fairly limited. In GTA 6, we could see a more dynamic weather system that affects the gameplay in more meaningful ways.
Seamless transitions: In previous games, there was often a loading screen when transitioning from one area to another. In GTA 6, we could see more seamless transitions between different areas of the game world.
New minigames: GTA 5 had a variety of fun minigames, such as tennis and golf, but there is always room for more. We could see new minigames in GTA 6 that are even more varied and engaging.
Improved driving mechanics: While the driving mechanics in GTA 5 were already pretty solid, there is always room for improvement. In GTA 6, we could see more realistic driving physics and more customizable vehicles.
Better stealth mechanics: Stealth has never been a strong point of the GTA series, but that could change with GTA 6. We could see more advanced stealth mechanics that allow players to approach missions in different ways.
Dynamic NPC behavior: In previous games, NPCs often had set patterns of behavior that could be easily predicted. In GTA 6, we could see more dynamic NPC behavior that makes the game world feel more alive.
More varied missions: While GTA 5 had a wide variety of missions, some players felt that they were too similar to each other. In GTA 6, we could see even more varied missions that keep the gameplay fresh and exciting.
VR support: With the increasing popularity of virtual reality, it's possible that GTA 6 could include support for VR headsets. This would allow players to fully immerse themselves in the game world and experience it in a whole new way.

What You Get Phase 0) Digital Economics 101 The Digital Economics 101 module will open 1 week prior to the cohort start date.
Phase 1) Creating A Meaningful Niche Every day I hear people going on and on about trying to find their niche.I also hear people talking about how they don’t know how to combine what they love talking about with *what will sell.*You already have the answer.
Phase 2) Content Strategy There is one thing that separates those who make it in the digital economy and those who don’t.It’s the quality, articulation, and perceived originality of their content. The content you post has to make sense to the people you attract.Everyone has a different voice and tone that they resonate with. **That they are congruent with and trust.**It has to change their thought patterns or behavior — that’s what makes you memorable.
Phase 3) Crafting Your Offer Most people are sitting on a goldmine of skills, experience, and knowledge (that they can use to help people 1-2 steps behind them).

  • Take the guesswork out of building coaching, consulting, or digital product offers.

Hello Summonerschool!
Over the past years i tried to reach diamond but i never succeded. I found out for myself that i "just play" the game and not realy learning anything, so i made a decision to improve in different aspects of the game. Over the past 2 Month i´ve learned many different things and i can already see improvement to my core gameplay as a support main.
- More efficent roaming
- Better objective warding
- Better positioning on lane
- Trading with the enemy
- Spacing/Zoning
- knowledge about and how to use wavestates
- etc.
I would like to know different elements of the game you can improve on, to have an overall higher gameplay. Maybe there are things i dont even know about that a crucial for a good gameplay.

Thank you very much for reading!

2023.03.30 20:15 a15minutestory [WP] You are a student in the most prestigious magic academy in the kingdom. No one knows how you got in, sure you have amazing magic potential, but you’re “magic blind” meaning you can only feel the presence of magic and not see any magic. [Part 67]

Life, for most, was a series of ups and downs. You fail your test but then your mom makes your favorite dish for dinner. You lose the big game for your team, but then you make a major breakthrough in the spell you've been practicing for weeks. You drop your ice cream, but find some cash in your pocket you didn't remember leaving there.
The girl you've been fawning over for weeks tickles your tonsils with her tongue, but then you're cut in half and enslaved by your nation's mortal enemy.
Yeah, my life was different, there was no doubt about that at all. But the lowest lows made even the slightest highs feel so much higher. Something as simple as eating a hot meal was the height of life when you had been living on crackers, stale bread, and nearly century-old dried meat.
We failed to notice that everyone in the restaurant was staring at us as we wolfed down plate after plate. The juices; the flavors; the tenderness of the meat; the softness of the hot bread smothered in butter. I couldn't stop smiling as I ate.
"You gotta try this," Tovin said breathlessly between bites as he passed me a bowl containing what looked like some kind of wet, shredded, colorful salad. I swallowed the big bite of steak I had been chewing and quickly put a spoonful of the mystery dish in my mouth. It was heaven on earth.
"Holy smokes, what is this?" I asked.
"I think it's the coleslaw, give it back," he said, pulling the bowl right out of my hand. I turned and looked at the dumbfounded waiter standing next to our table, and smiled. "More coleslaw, please! And ribs, I'm outta ribs! And a refill on... what was this called?"
He stared wide-eyed at my plate and then shook his head as though clearing his mind. "Uhh, I believe you were having the peach lemonade, sir."
"That!" I pointed my fork at him before turning back to the assortment of delicacies splayed out before me. I wasn't sure if it was because I hadn't had a proper meal in weeks, or if it was just that the empire knew how to eat, but it was the best food I had ever tasted in my life.
"So good," Tovin said in such a way that I had to check and make sure he wasn't crying.
After eating all that we wanted and all that we could, the two of us just sat slouched in our chairs with bulging stomachs. I lifted my hand shakily toward the last rib on my plate, but let it fall to my side as I closed my eyes and accepted defeat. The will was there but the room in my stomach wasn't.
"My goodness, sirs," said the waiter. "You hunters sure can eat."
I looked up at him with a satisfied grin, "Hard work always makes a meal so much better. Know what I'm saying?"
"Can't argue with that," said the waiter as he folded his hands. "But... if I may, could I politely ask you to pay your bill? I mean no offense, but you and your friend have a..." he cleared his throat. "Musk about you."
I looked at Tovin and then at myself, and then at all the empty tables around us. We were still covered in the calraven's dried wing gunk. I had to have gone completely nose-blind to it. Now the faces everyone had been making at us made a lot more sense. I looked down to see that it had been flaking off of us and onto the restaurant floor.
"Oh man, I'm so sorry," I apologized.
"No!" said the man, holding his hands out. "It was an honor to serve the hunters keeping our cities safe, don't take me the wrong way. It would be our pleasure to serve you again, but it's about to be 5'o clock and our dinner rush will be starting soon."
I suddenly remembered something I had completely forgotten. I looked up at the man, "Excuse me, do you have a pencil?"
"Certainly," he answered, pulling one from his apron and setting it down on the checkered tablecloth. "Your bill will be 22 octims."
"That's so much," Tovin groaned, not bothering to lift his head or open his eyes. He wasn't wrong, but we had ordered almost everything on the menu. I wasn't completely certain I could walk correctly when it was time to leave. I pulled out the envelope and handed him 25 octims.
"Keep the change," I said, Tovin groaning quietly in tacit disapproval.
"Th-thank you!" said the waiter with a wide grin.
"In return, I'm keeping the pencil," I added, smiling back.

It didn't take long for us to find an inn. Bronzegirder was full of them, as it was apparently a booming industrial hub rife with people traveling on business. We decided to book one room with two separate bedrooms to save a bit of money. It came out to 9 octims a night, which when you factored in food, meant we only had a little over a week's worth of cash if we spent conservatively. I didn't know how long it was going to take me to find Atlas and Axle, but I couldn't see it happening that soon. We would likely have to hunt again; that or find a steady job that paid the bills.
It was a humble inn compared to some of the others we had seen. I really wanted to stay in one of the nicer ones, but Tovin wasn't having it. He said the less we had to go out and make money, the better, and I couldn't come up with a good enough argument to push back. While Tovin took a shower, I took an eraser to everything Fena had written to me in the notebook. I left a little bit of her message so as to avoid suspicion, and decided I'd write back later tonight before bed.
After his shower, he realized that he only had dirty clothes to change into and we were reminded that we needed to go shopping. I rinsed off and the two of us made our way back down to the lobby and out into town. It had gotten considerably darker since we had checked in, and the chill winds blew against my cold hair, sending shivers down my spine. We pulled our hoods up and hit the market.
The first shop we landed at was a big success. We bought a warm hat for Tovin's head, which was only just now growing back a thin layer of hair. We found some sheepskin flight jackets with wool collars that rode high against the back of our necks. Tovin begrudgingly accepted them as the best option both for warmth and for hiding our slave tattoos, but for me, I also thought they looked really, really cool.
We bought some leather gloves that matched the jackets, along with new undergarments and sleep attire. We bagged some Diesillian snacks and drinks, as well as a refill of cigarettes for Tovin before heading back to the room. We were both exhausted, and I was more excited about a bed than I ever had been. Back in the room, we sat on the floor and tried the different candies and snacks as we discussed our next plan of action.
"Let's stay here for a little while," Tovin advised, sitting under the open window with his cigarette in hand. "This place is huge. The odds of them finding us here quickly are slim."
"I agree," I said as I popped one of the candies in my mouth. "I'm not going to say I like it here, but it sure beats being on the run."
"We're still on the run," he warned. "Don't misunderstand that. We should also probably pick new aliases. DuPonte has the wrong ones, but Gilliam is pretty similar to William."
"Yeah, but we're not on the run, run. Y'know, being chased through the night, sleeping in abandoned shacks, and stowing away in train cars. I know they're still looking for us, but how are they ever gonna catch us now?"
He folded his arms and dropped his eyes. Smoke billowed from his mouth as he sat in quiet contemplation. "It would be a mistake to underestimate our enemy," he said finally. "We need to start going by new names. I'm Wallace, and you're Geoffrey, got that?"
"I don't want to be Geoffrey, you be Geoffrey," I said playfully as I passed him a bag of candies. "Here, try these. They're called jelly beans, they're pretty good."
He dug his hand into the bag, fished one out, and popped it into his mouth. "Fine," he said. "You can be Wallace then, and I'll be Geoffrey. You need to help me remember that, you understand?"
"Yeah, I got it," I assured him.
"Gill."
"I said I heard you, Jeez," I said dismissively as I picked up the dark beverage I had been eyeing. It was labeled Root Beer and it generated a golden fizz at the top when disturbed. I couldn't wait to taste it. Tovin reached over and gently lowered my hand. I looked up to find him staring at me intensely.
"Gill," he repeated. "Stop. Just stop it, alright? I know what you're doing. I might be slipping, but I'm not dumb, deaf, and blind just yet. While I appreciate the act, or at least where it's coming from, I know you're just as scared as I am. I'm not a child; and while I may not be able to preserve what remains of my dignity for very much longer, I would ask for your respect until that time comes."
I had somehow underestimated the smartest man I had ever known– again. I didn't know the extent of his condition. Based on our interactions, I figured that he had no memory of the times when he regressed. I assumed that he didn't fully understand how bad his lapses had gotten, but it seemed he did. Worse yet, I knew how he felt about sympathy. The way I was acting had to have felt like the biggest insult to him, and even so, he wasn't reacting with anger.
He just wanted to be heard.
"Earlier today in the woods," he said, lifting his arm and tapping his cigarette against the window sill. "I can't remember the details. I don't know how you did that monster in, how I ended up unconscious, or anything about how we got back to the city. But I do remember how I felt."
He traced the floorboards with his eyes and placed his arms on his knees as he looked for the words. "... I felt useless; helpless like a terrified child. At one point, I felt like I didn't deserve to be alive." He looked up at me. "It was like I was swimming in a dream; like I was watching my own actions from over my shoulder. I came back to consciousness for a brief moment and contemplated shoving that rifle in my mouth."
"Tovin–"
"Shut up," he waved at me dismissively, drawing tendrils of smoke in the air with the end of his cigarette. "I don't need your pep talk," he huffed. "I'm past it." He rested his head against the wall behind him. "I just want you to know that this whole thing is getting harder for me. It's like there are two people fighting for control of the wheel, and when I'm not steering, I'm in a sleeplike state. My thoughts play out in front of me like I'm having some kind of fever dream. They smear and melt like watercolor giving me brief glimpses of reality through a window I can't reach or jump through."
I stared at him with concern. We shared a brief moment of eye contact before he closed his eyes and exhaled smoke. "It's not looking good for me, Gill. I just wanted you to know before I went to bed," he said, getting to his feet. "That if I go to sleep tonight for the last time..."
"Hang on," I interrupted. "There's something you should know. I reached out to that friend of mine back home. He's already working on a way to fix you."
His face brightened. "Y-yeah?" he smiled. "Gill, why didn't you say anything?"
I picked up the bottle and used the opener we had purchased with it to pry the lid off. "There was never a good time," I shrugged. "It's been a long, long day."
"Well, what else did he say?" he asked, taking a step forward.
"... Just, y'know," I trailed off. "Hang in there."
He sucked his lips in and looked down at the floor. He knew I was holding back. I was more worried about putting him through information overload than anything else. There was a lot he didn't know; too much, in fact.
"Tovin, just trust me. You'll know everything soon," I assured him. "All of it. As soon as you get your memories back."
"You really think your friend is that incredible?" he asked without looking up.
I smiled knowingly. "I do."
I took a swig of the beverage and spat it back out all of my legs. It almost splashed his legs and he quickly scrambled away. He looked at me with apparent disgust.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" he yelled.
"It's like medicine," I grimaced. "I don't think this is even a drink!"

That night, as Tovin slept, I wrote down the events of the day. As I jotted it all down, I began having new revelations. Tovin seemed to be at his best after resting. In the morning when we got off the train, he seemed alright. However, as the day drew on, he became less and less like himself. I should have known something was up the moment he wandered off without me. Then he was acting like a literal child up to our confrontation with the calraven. He had even mistakenly called me dad, perhaps reliving a buried memory of a hunt with his father.
But when his rifle exploded and he lost consciousness, he was back to himself when he woke up. He seemed to hold strong through dinner up until he went to bed. I wondered what it was about sleeping that restored at least a portion of his working mind.
Then there was the stranger, referred to only once as "Deac." There was no mistaking the magic that glowed in his body, but what was that other energy? I couldn't see it, but for the fact that it danced with and often overtook his magic essence. There were two energies tangled up together inside of him, and they seemed to be at odds with one another. And then there was the Diesel Devil sitting at the back of the cave.
The two of them definitely knew one another on a familiar level. They had been sent together to investigate Eluviel, but why, and from where? She definitely didn't seem happy to see them, but could that have been because she felt I was threatened by them? A splinter-sprite, he called her. A piece of her consciousness that she had shed just before she was subdued.
I wondered why she'd chosen me. Was it because I could see her while others couldn't? Or maybe I was just secretly really, really awesome, like a main character in a novel. I sat under the electric light and smiled at the idea of being someone worthy of tales. Someone like Tovin or Atlas with a bright destiny. But was revenge really such a noble pursuit? The yearning to return home and lift some heads off of shoulders didn't seem like any sort of heroic journey. After I penned the events of the day as best as I could, I got to work answering everyone individually.
Tovin. Be nice to Gill. He's doing his best with what he's got. Instead of being pissed at him, be pissed at the headmasters in question for what they've done to him. I hope everything I wrote above helps in some way, but I'm still running around out here with a lot of questions. Any luck with the spell for your counterpart? As you;ve read, he's getting worse. I need that miracle cure sooner than later. Thanks for your help.
I could already hear him in my head. "I'm working as fast I can you ingrate," or something like that. I laughed under my breath as I thought about what a dick he was. It was pressure, pride, and maintaining appearances that warped his personality so much. Out here in the Diesel as a nobody with nothing to prove, he was so much more agreeable. His inner-Tovin showed through now and again, but I wondered what would happen if he suddenly got all his memories back. Would he be a more chilled-out version of his ENU counterpart, or would he be even more high-strung?
Gill. I hope you read the annotation I scribbled in the margins about not reading the whole journal entry. I forgot you had asked me not to talk about the Galgalim before I had already written it all down. If you skipped right to this response as I hoped, then don't go back and read any of that. There were major revelations about what she is and why she's here.
I knew he wouldn't be able to resist after reading that. I needed his curiosity to overpower his fear. It was possible, I figured, that I could undo some of the damage Vega had done. I just needed to remind Gill of who he was.
I know it's weird putting your trust in me, but if there's anyone you can trust, it's yourself. I'm 99% sure Tovin would back me up on that, haha. And yeah, I remember Fena boasting about the importance of keeping a diary. We love that girl, but we hate to write, am I write?
I hoped he would find my pun funny. He was me, so he would at least smile at it, I was sure.
Even now my hand is aching something fierce, I want to go to bed more than anything. You know how long its been since I've slept in a bed? This mattress feels like heaven under me right now, you got no idea. And is Tovin still threatening to kill you? I thought we had gotten a little closer than that. I can't believe Axle was expelled. You're right, that means you're probably next. Keep your head down, man. Thanks for cooperating with me. If you had changed the summoning signature for the tome, I would have died today... and yesterday too, actually. I'm getting actual combat experience out here. It's wild knowing you can die at any moment. My hand is kinda cramping and I still have to write Fena back so I'll end it here. Thanks again for hearing me out and staying open-minded about this whole thing.
I set the pencil down and massaged the muscle between my thumb and forefinger. I had a lot to tell. But I wasn't about to roll over and drift off without writing to Fena. I picked the pencil up and readjusted myself before putting my words down.
I'm sorry I asked Gill not to tell you, but something deep down inside of me told me he would do it anyway. I just wanted to touch base with him first before I reached out to the rest of you. And technically, I was the one who showed you the message in the tome, so I didn't actually ever keep a secret from you.
I doodled a little smiley face with his tongue sticking out and then quickly erased it only to find that I couldn't fully get it off the page. There was a big smudge there that made it evident that I'd written and then erased something. I let out a frustrated sigh and drew it again, but somehow worse.
That's a solid theory on Tovin there. Same for Atlas. That could end up coming back to bite Vega in the ass. I promise I'll be safe, but do me a favor and help Tovin with whatever it is he needs. He's working on that spell to untether blocked memories from the mind, and the Tovin with me is getting worse by the day it seems. I don't want to see him get caught and sent back to the camp. He won't cooperate with them and they'll definitely kill him.
Thanks for everything, hun. I miss you more than you could ever know. Promise me you'll stay safe too. I know Vega is trying to find a way to get to you. If he got to Tovin... look just take every precaution you can. I love you. Goodnight.
I closed the book and set it down on my bedside table. I pulled the chain on the light, snuffing it out, then turned over and sank my head into the pillow. It wasn't that late yet– I could hear the hum of Diesel vehicles and even the chatter of the populace outside. I pulled the blankets over myself and closed my eyes. I let the warmth of the bed cradle me as I counted my many blessings, and thanked Hahnahkordia that I had somewhere warm and dry to lay my head.
The room was dimly lit when I opened my eyes again. It was just bright enough that I could read the clock on the wall. It was about 7am. It felt like I had blinked. I thought about getting up, but the blankets were so warm, and the room was cold– I had left the window open all night by accident. What reason did I have to get out of bed anyways? I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep again and repeated this several times until the clock read noon and I started to get hungry.
I rolled out of bed and quickly closed the window. I hurried into the hot embrace of my morning shower and got dressed before knocking on Tovin's door. "Hey, you up? I was thinking of breakfast."
There was no answer. I carefully opened his door to find his bed empty and neatly made. I entered the room fully to find that his backpack was also missing. I figured he had to have gotten hungry first and left without me. That theory fell on its face when I ventured back to my room and found a note placed on the side table.
You can sleep all day if you want. I'm going down to the gun range at the hunters' office. I won't be shown up by you again.
I set the note down and began to worry. I didn't like the idea of him going out by himself. What if he were to suddenly backslide mentally while out in Diesel territory alone? I could see a scenario where he'd forget his alias or that he has an incriminating mark on the back of his neck. I got dressed in a hurry and grabbed my backpack before heading out the door. I hurried down the steps and out into the cold wet streets of Bronzegirder.
I made my way north of the crowded city streets and found Alloy street. The bitter winds blew against me as I made my way up the empty road toward the hunters' office. I was starting to regret not buying a warm hat for myself when I bought one for Tovin. I skipped every second step on my way up to the front door and made my way past the reception desk and into the firing range. I heaved a sigh of relief when I found Tovin shooting at targets downrange.
I walked up next to him as he turned his rifle over and grabbed a handful of ammunition from the box sitting on the counter. "Busy morning, Geoffrey?"
"Did you just wake up?" he asked as he began feeding bullets into the tube.
"I figured I didn't have anywhere to be," I shrugged. "I assumed you didn't either. I thought the plan was to get our bonus and ditch this place."
"Yeah, well, I kind of like shooting," he admitted. "Also, we're out of money."
I felt my knees turn to jelly underneath me. "What?" I yelled. "How?"
"Turns out these guns are expensive," he said as he pulled the hammer back and lifted the rifle to his shoulder. "You left ours out in the woods. They charged us for them."
I stammered for entirely too long before wiping both hands over my face and collecting myself. "... How much we got left?"
"We owe," he answered, firing his gun. "They charged us for the uniforms, and then a fee to clean the gunk off of them. Also, I bought us a pair of rain ponchos, they're cheaper here." He motioned to a couple of folded-up ponchos hanging over the wooden divider.
I stammered for a little longer. This was becoming more expensive than it was worth. We would have to hunt another monster today. I was hoping to never have to hoof it out there again, and it was even colder today than it was yesterday.
"Calm down," he said, not taking his eyes off the target. "Get your poncho on. I've got a plan."
"A plan?" I asked.

"The circus?" I said with a hint of anger in my voice as we stood in front of the many tents and attractions. They had set up east of town on the perimeter of the city. Families wandered the fairgrounds. Vendors had set up games and stands with delicious food we couldn't pay for, and I had just remembered I hadn't eaten breakfast.
"I came this way first when I smelled the food," Tovin said, taking a few steps in front of me and turning around. "Then I explored a little bit. And wouldn't you know it– I found an attraction that was offering a cash prize. It just wasn't open yet."
I sighed and hung my head. "You just wanted to come to the carnival," I grumbled.
"100 octims," he said flatly.
I looked up at him and he smiled faintly. "Thought that would get your attention." He reached into his pocket and produced a single red ticket. "This will get us one round."
"One round?" I asked, taking the ticket and inspecting it. It read, "Single Admission ~ 1 Minute."
"There's a stage toward the back with a guy in a cape that you can challenge in hand-to-hand combat," he said, beckoning me to follow as he turned and started into the fair. I hurried after him as he explained. "Here's the kicker though. You don't have to beat him. All you've got to do is hit him."
"Just hit him?" I asked.
"That's what they said. He's supposed to be some kind of master. You strike him just once and we're set for the next several days, and that's after settling our debt."
This plan was a little better than I had given him credit for. Here I had thought he'd gone bananas again, but this could really work.
"You think I can do it?" I asked. "It can't be easy if they're throwing around a hundred octims."
"Here's what I'm thinking," he said, lowering his voice and slowing down to walk next to me. "You use a little bit of that magic– the kind you isolate in your feet to move quickly."
"Are you nuts?" I cast him an incredulous glance. "Did you forget we'd be on stage in Diesel territory?"
"Just use it once quickly to make your swing a little faster," he reasoned. "It's been drizzling all morning. The stage is wet already. If you're quick about it, it won't stand out."
"I don't know," I shook my head. "It's not the worst plan, but it's so risky."
"Riskier than hunting monsters?" he asked.
That was a fair point. Still, the idea of casting in front of everyone made me uneasy. It wasn't like Jetstream was a super common spell, though. Furthermore, the odds were slim that anyone in the crowd had ever even witnessed magic before. The more I thought about it, the more I started to think we could actually pull this off.
"This is the place," said Tovin as we approached a crowd. There was a wooden sign in front that read, The Slippery Salamander! One hit gets you 100 octims! The two of us pushed through the crowd until we came to the stage where a mustached man was swinging like crazy at the aptly named Salamander. He bobbed and weaved effortlessly around every attempted strike until a man in a red and white striped outfit hurried out onto the stage and blew a whistle.
"Time's up!" he called out.
The crowd cheered and applauded as the Salamander turned and took a bow. The world fell out from underneath me. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Ask anyone in the academy and they will tell you that deep space explorer is the job everyone dreams about, but anyone who does get the job will tell you just how bad it is. Endless cycles of flying, scanning and then flying some more, all while being locked inside of a ship the size of a small apartment building. To say cabin fever sets in quickly would be an understatement.
Still, the young and naïve will shoot for the position. Some might say that it is simply human nature to want to explore and find something that no one else has ever laid eyes upon. Whatever the reason was, it was this naïve hope of finding something new that landed Lisa in this pickle.
She was a healthy twenty-five-year-old fresh out of the academy, proud graduate of the class of 2247. Her skin was fair, her hair was fiery red, and she possessed a well-toned body as a result of all the training she went through. For the last several years she had been training to be a deep space explorer, and now that she had got her wish, she just wanted to be anywhere else.
That wasn’t to say that she didn’t occasionally enjoy her job, particularly when she is able to record the discovery of a new planet or asteroid cluster, but those long periods of time between these places were killer on her psyche. The only thing that was able to keep her even remotely sane was also a necessary part of being an explorer. Her partner.
Ships always went out with people working in pairs or trios. Daniel was great. They got along well even in their academy days, having a similar sense of humor and shared some hobbies with one another. They both put in to be partners with each other because you had to be able to get along when you are locked in a metal box for months with someone.
Lisa was sitting in the pilot seat of their ship, checking the different status screens to make sure that nothing was going wrong while they were in transit. The door to the cockpit opened and Lisa glanced over her shoulder to see Daniel stagger in and flop down into the co-pilot seat with a yawn. His black hair was rather messy right now, and he had definitely gotten a lot paler since they started this journey due to the lack of direct sunlight they received.
“Morning sleeping beauty, looks like you enjoyed your little nap.” Lisa said with a slightly teasing voice.
“Yeah, well after that double shift I had to pull when the plumbing line cracked, I’ve been whipped. I appreciate you taking over my shift at the helm.”
“No big deal, basically just watching a bunch of blinking lights. Honestly might have fallen asleep myself a few times. Promise not to rat me out?”
He chuckled a bit. “Sure, so long as my unscheduled nap doesn’t make it into the logs.”
“Deal.”
With that bit of lighthearted banter, they both went back to their jobs, which for now was directing the last stages of exiting from slip space. When they exited traveling speed and coasted to a much more reasonable pace, the first of the scans for the new system they entered were sent out. Lots of stray gasses and rocks. There was a small moon sized celestial body that was high in metal content though.
“Well, that might make a good mark for a mining colony to set up around for a few years. I think that’s worth a bonus at least.” Lisa commented.
“Yeah, not the most interesting system we’ve ever been to, but it has potential. Making note of it in the log.”
Everything seemed to be going rather by the book. Lisa was interested in the possibility of the small moon growing into something else, maybe a gas planet given another few tens of thousands of years. Still, nothing much left to do here, so she... A light started blinking on the console, one that shouldn’t have been blinking this far out in the middle of nowhere.
“Huh.” She idly sounded out while reaching out to change the screen’s projection.
“What’s up?” Daniel asked.
“Oh, I'm not sure yet. The sensors are picking up a signal, but it's probably just stray background radiation tricking the system. Let me clear it up.”
Daniel nodded and let her do just that while he focused on taking a detailed recording of the moon for those back home. Meanwhile, Lisa was still trying to find the cause of the signal and filter it out. The only problem with that she found that the signal was locally generated, not just a strong interstellar pulse.
Her brow dropped in clear confusion as she started to set the scanner to track the source of the signal. It pinged several times and it came back that it was moving. “Hey, Daniel.”
“What’s up?”
“Do you know if there are any deep space probes in the area?”
“Uhm, let me check. Why?”
“That signal that we found, it is locally generated, and it’s moving.”
“Oh, damn, are we trespassing on a corporate claimed system?”
“That’s what I want to find out. Pull up the probe list for this area.”
“Already on it. Let’s see...” He scanned through the list that appeared on the screen in front for a minute, reading over various probe identifiers and posting notices. “Hmmm, this might be a problem. There are no active probes in the area, at least none that are registered. Illegal operations?”
“It’s possible. We should snap a few pictures and then report this.”
“Alright. I’ll keep an eye out for additional signals. If this turns out to be pirates, we need to gun it out of here.”
“Diverting power to engines, adjusting heading, and here we go.” With a few simple commands she pushed the ship into motion towards the mysterious signal. It was about thirty minutes of sub-slip flight to reach the general area. The tension was building in the cockpit as the two continued to be on the edge of their seats just in case this turned out to be a trap.
They entered the zone of the signal’s source, and it was projected to be within twenty miles of their current position and closing fast. “Can we get a visual on this thing yet?” Lisa asked.
“Hold on, locking in on the source, external cameras are active and searching.” It was a few minutes later that a ping sounded from his console. “Got it, putting it on the main screen.”
They both looked over to see that the source of the signal was a ship, although it wasn’t of any design or make that they were familiar with. “Daniel, any ideas of what to do? They seem to have power, but are they stranded?”
“I’m not picking up an SOS, it just seems like they are transmitting a stream of data somewhere. Should we try hailing them?”
Lisa contemplated that for a moment. “We should, just in case they need help. I’ve got the engines hot and ready to go if things get pear shaped.”
“Opening up a channel now.” Daniel flipped a few switches, and the mic was hot. “Unidentified vessel, this is the Chariot of Helios. We were passing through the area when we picked up your data stream. Are you in need of assistance?” There was a minute where nothing came back on the radio. “Unidentified vessel, please respond.” A second later Daniel’s eyebrows went up. “Uhm...”
The way he sounded had Lisa worried. “What? What’s wrong?”
“Their signal stopped.” He replied tersely, keeping his focus on the panel in front of him.
“Good or bad?”
“Don’t know. There are a lot of things this could mean. They might be doing something illegal, in which case they think we busted them, the stop of the signal could be a signal for someone, in which case this is a trap, or they are just trying to redirect their focus onto us.”
“Here’s hoping it’s the last one. I’m ready to blow this joint at a moment’s notice”
“Hold on, they’re sending something back. I’ll put in on speaker.” What came through was a series of clicking, screeching, and whistling sounds that made the two of them flinch.
“The hell was that?” Lisa asked.
“Maybe they are having some technical problems? Let me try again.” He started to transmit again. “Unidentified vessel, please repeat your last message, we did not understand you.”
This time there was a long pause in the back and forth that lasted several minutes before the ship started to send them something. “They’re sending us a data package.” Daniel said as the information came in through the screening process.
“What’s on it?”
“Hold on, it’s a pretty big file size.” There was a pause for a moment before he quirked his brow questioningly. “This is... is this a lexicon?”
“What? Let me see that.” She leaned over to get a view of the stream of symbols and occasional accompanying pictures. It had a similar layout to the lexicons that they were familiar with and were taught about in the academy but there were some minor differences that made it unique. “Daniel, do you recognize any of this?”
“The format, sort of, but not the characters or the language used here. Lisa, I'm thinking we might be involved in something big here.”
“Wait, you don’t mean that this is...”
He nodded. “Yeah, this might be a first contact.”
That was hard to grasp for the two of them. In over fifty years of human deep space travel there hadn’t been a single sign of alien life. To think that they would be the ones to discover another civilization was difficult to process. Still, there were procedures in place for such a happening if ever it did occur.
“Uhm, okay, so, erm.” She fumbled around the console a little bit while trying desperately to remember the steps as her mind was thrown into chaotic panic. “Fuck! I mean... Aliens!”
“I know, I know, just... try to keep calm and let's give them our own lexicon. We have it around here... somewhere.” He might have not have been as visibly panicked as she was, but he was still floundering a bit with the ship controls.
“Okay, alright, I’m calm, I’m good. I’ll just, uhm, put their lexicon through the learning program.” The simple VI program could parse an insane amount of data and find common patterns that it would use to devise a logical conclusion. In this case, it would decipher their language, at least in written form.
“You do that, I just found our lexicon file and am now sending the packet to them. Oh damn, almost forgot, we need to record all of this, so we have it on file.”
“Really? Shit, as if I wasn’t already under enough pressure. Can’t we send out a request for help?”
“Take a deep breath, we’re months out into wild space and any message will take weeks to travel. I'm going to start the recording.”
While Lisa watched the learning program slowly decipher the alien lexicon, Daniel started the recording with a brief description of their names, the name of their ship, and the situation that they had found themselves in. Once the basics were covered it was now just a waiting game. Either they would figure out the alien language first, or the aliens would decipher theirs. Whatever the outcome, the tension from waiting was terrible.
It felt like the progress bar on the translations was taking forever, and eventually Lisa just got up to go and prepare something to eat so she had something to distract herself with. While cooking on the shuttle was rather limited given the nature of their job, there was a certain art in preparing the dehydrated foods in a way that would make them palatable. The process of making their favorite combination of dried foods was simple, but required focus. That was able to distract her for a while, and the meal helped return the mood around the ship to at least a relative normal.
Hours ended up passing. The progress that the learning program made on the lexicon was significant. It was almost a full day of waiting and they had just reached the three-fourths mark on the program before the console pinged with an incoming message. Both of them were dozing in the cockpit when the console came alive again, and they jumped in their seats while scrambling to their stations again.
“What just came in.” Lisa asked with a slightly frantic tone.
“Hold on, checking now. We appear to be receiving a message, text only. It just says, ‘Hello’.”
“They sent that? Does that mean they figured out our language?” She sounded a bit more excited. The first successful communication between different species.
“That’s what it seems like. I guess their programs were more advanced than ours. I wonder what else they have that might be better?” Daniel contemplated all the possibilities before shaking his head. “Let’s save the speculations for later. We should return a message.”
She shot him a grin. “Will it be the stereotypical message that we always see?”
He gave a grin himself. “What better message is there? I’ve always wanted to say this.” He began typing out the message they would send to the aliens in reply, and Lisa watched as the words appeared on the screen.
‘Greetings from humanity, we come in peace and wish for cooperation.’
The cockpit went still for a few minutes, and you could barely even hear the two breathe as they waited for the reply.
‘Hello humanity, we of the Ursul Collective are gladdened to hear of your peaceful intentions.’
“Yes!” Lisa shouted out and threw her hands into the air. “Aliens! Peaceful aliens! Fuck yeah! I wonder what kind of music they have. Maybe they’re fuzzy.” She gasped at the realization. “Oh my god, if they’re furry little guys I'm going to lose it.”
“Please do not scare away the aliens before we have a chance to establish diplomatic relations.”
“That depends on them and how cute they are.”
“I will kick you out of this cockpit if you do anything crazy.”
She huffed. “Fine, I'll try to contain myself.”
“Good.” With that he got back to the conversation with the aliens known as the Ursul.
‘We are very far from our home on a scouting mission, but we hope that you would be willing to set up a meeting between our leaders.’
After a pause for apparent deliberation was had, they replied. ‘We do not have much authority as we are similar to you in occupation. However, news of meeting people from the stars will be heeded by all, so we need to return to our world to establish such a meeting. We invite you to follow but would need access to your computers to relay navigation data to avoid stellar obstacles.’
“That might be a problem.” Lisa idly states. “The security on the navigation controls wouldn’t recognize any of their computers and lock them out. They would need to give them to us in person, which means they would have to come aboard, and we don’t yet know if our atmospheres are compatible.”
“Well, we can ask them about that at the very least.” He gets to work typing again.
‘We are honored that you would invite us to your home, but our ship lacks the means of receiving that data unless it’s in person. If you would tell us the composition of your atmosphere and the weight of your gravity it would help us figure out if it is possible for a visit between our ships to take place.’
There was another brief pause before the reply. ‘Our atmosphere is mostly a nitrogen oxygen composite of seventy-five and twenty-three percent respectively with gravity set at nine point five three meters a second.’
‘Okay, that is relatively comparable to our own conditions. It should be safe for you to come aboard for the transfer, at least for a little while until further tests can be made. If you are willing to come aboard, we would be happy to host you for as long as you need’
‘We are very excited for the prospect of being the first to meet with a new species face to face. How would we connect our ships?’
‘Our dock has a flexible tube attachment that can seal around a variety of ports. You will have to make a short jump through zero gravity, but you can make it across safely. Do you have any concerns about this?’
‘We do not. Two of us will make the trip across. You may approach us slowly, our port is extended and waiting for your umbilical.’
With the permission received, they began their cautious approach as to not spook the aliens or cause an accident. The strange oblong vehicle they piloted had a flat bottom, was gunmetal grey, and currently had a tube extended from its port side. Lisa and Daniel piloted their ship to match the speed of the alien vessel was drifting at. Once they were synchronized, the umbilical tube was extended out from their ship and carefully wrapped around the extended port where it was vacuum sealed and then atmospherically pressurized.
‘The umbilical is secure; you may cross when ready.’
‘Acknowledged, we will begin the boarding process for your ship’
Lisa jumped out of her seat and rushed to the airlock, practically bouncing off the walls with excitement. She couldn’t even stand still as she rocked on the balls of her feet while waiting. Daniel was much more reserved but still held a fixed grin that showed he was eager to see the aliens as well.
Soon the sound of the outer airlock closing was heard inside the ship, and the two humans straightened themselves out as much as possible. Lisa bit her lip in anticipation, taking a few deep breaths to calm herself to a respectable level. The inner door started to open, and Lisa stepped forward to speak first only to freeze in place at the sight of the beings standing in the entrance.
Standing in the entrance to the airlock were two aliens over six feet tall that looked like upright arthropods. Their black shells were reminiscent of ancient earth trilobites, eight limbs consisting of four legs and four arms, with heads similar to that of vespids, clacking mandibles and antennae included.
Lisa went stiff as a board and pale as a ghost, frozen in abject horror. The two alien arthropods also stopped all bodily movement at the sight of the humans before the one on the left let out a screech and charge at Lisa.
HolyfuckingshitthisishowIdie! Was the only thought that went through her head before her arms were seized by the alien with two of its graspers holding her by the elbows and the other two by the shoulders. Its mandibles clacked rapidly as it let out a series of whistling, humming, and trilling sounds while prodding along her head with its antennae.
Lisa was so paralyzed that she couldn’t even find it in her to scream. Her heart was racing so fast in her chest that she thought it might explode as she was on the verge of tears. In a single act of desperation, she managed to look towards where Daniel was, hoping that he would come to her rescue, but only seeing him backing away from the other alien that was moving towards him as well.
“Hey! I’m warning you dude, stay away from me, I'll rock you upside the head!” He threatened the alien that paid no mind as it still slowly closed distance with him.
“D-D-D-Daniel! Help!” She managed to stammer out.
He looked over at his partner in the grasp of the large alien and then back at the one trying to corner him. With a curse on his lips, he swung a haymaker and struck the alien approaching him on the side of its head. Immediately pain shot up through him as it felt like he had just punched a rock, but the alien was sent staggering from the blow.
Wasting no time, he rushed to the aid of his partner, and learning his lesson, he opted to grab her while shoving as hard as he could against her captor. The alien’s grip wasn’t all that strong, and she slid out of its grasp while it stumbled backwards. Immediately he pulled Lisa behind him and started to back away from them towards the cockpit.
The aliens had recovered from the blows, though still appeared to be somewhat disoriented. The one that Daniel had pushed had moved to assist the staggering alien that was punched before trying to approach the two humans again with raised graspers. Daniel put up his fists for a fight, but the punch-drunk alien reached out and grabbed its comrade, stopping them from approaching.
This alien took the lead over its comrade, approaching extremely slowly in a half-bowed manner. Daniel did not drop his guard, but he took notice as the alien reached towards one of its arms which had a device attached to it. Their nimble four fingered hands started to tap away at the device for a moment.
After they stopped fiddling with the device, the console in the cockpit pinged with a notification for a received message. Daniel cast a quick glance in that direction before returning an iron clad gaze onto the aliens who were standing completely still.
“Lisa, go check what that message says. I’ll watch them.”
She was more than okay with that as it gave her an excuse to get as far away from the freaky aliens as possible. Now in the other room she felt significantly better and was able to focus a little more. Checking the screen, she found the message somewhat odd, and yelled out at Daniel what it said.
“The message says: ‘I am sorry, we appear to have breached some sort of social barrier and apologize. We hope that we have not damaged our chances at relations.’”
Daniel’s brow dropped in contemplation. Was this just a misunderstanding? He started to feel a little bad for punching the one alien.
“Lisa, can you link my tablet to the ship systems and bring it to me?”
“Yeah, right, one second.” She was a little bit unsure about going back into that room, but so long as she kept Daniel between herself and the aliens, she could manage. After syncing the devices, she returned to Daniel and handed him the tablet, not so subtly hiding behind him as just looking at the two aliens made her break out in a cold sweat.
Daniel started to type out a question to help clarify the situation. ‘Why did you grab my partner like that?’
After reading the message, the alien frantically started typing on their device. ‘I apologize profusely for any offense that this might have cause. My own partner was simply overcome with surprise and failed to control themselves. There was no harm intended.’
‘And what was intended? You still haven’t said why you reacted that way or laid hands on my partner.’ Daniel fixed them with a glare, and despite them being significantly more terrifying than him, they seemed to shrink a little under his gaze. When they started typing again, it was with some hesitance before they sent it.
‘We do not wish to offend you, but you are very appealing to our senses, especially the smaller human with the bright fur. My companion simply could not resist touching and I apologize for his and my own actions.’
Daniel and Lucy were shocked when they read that, and it took them a solid minute to fully process it. ‘So... You’re saying that you find us cute?’
‘Yes.’

2023.03.30 20:09 sp00kdeer SOS-Facial Warts Spreading Rapidly

I’m desperate for some insight.
Around November of last year, I got what appeared to be a pimple on my forehead. And, as I have hormonal acne, I have a habit of picking. So I picked and picked and thought it was weird that this thing would not heal or produce any sebum. I still treated it like a normal pimple, until it started to get rough. I then mistook it for a keloid. Around January of this year, I noticed a similar round, pink bump above my eyebrow, and on my cheek. It was only about two weeks ago as I was inspecting the original culprit on my forehead that I realised, ‘This looks like hyperkeratosis on a dog/it has fingers,’ and around this time also noticed a new one on my chin.
So I came to the verdict that these were warts. Did research on Dr. Google. Spiralled into panicking. Still panicking. It didn’t help that I seemed to wake up the next day and realise that there were several more.
I have been living at CVS trying all matter of otc treatments. I’ve only had one wart on my finger as a kid and it went away quickly; I hardly remember it. I did not read any instructions before applying any otc’s to my face. So we’ve tried: Compound W gel (which I struggle to see is doing anything besides peeling/irritating my skin), polish, and medicated bandaids with 40% SA (especially on my forehead; after a week of wear a lot of this wart flaked off but not entirely). I’ve also tried ACV, tea tree oil, and hydrogen peroxide. I was covering with hydrocolloid patches for pimples, which may have been a mistake since those create moisture. I have been desperately calling around for a dermatologist with appointments that aren’t super far out, because this is spreading so fast.
Yesterday I went to a dermatologist and she estimated that I have roughly 15 warts, including ones that I thought were just acne. She took the bandages off of my face and whipped out the liquid nitrogen (I didn’t really get any explanation of the procedure) and sprayed most of my face. She then sold me some facial wash and gave me Aquafor samples without explaining how to use them before leaving to her office. She just told me not to bandage after treatment and I am concerned about further spreading.
Today, none of the warts are blistered as I have read is common with cryotherapy. I definitely felt something after treatment yesterday but the only difference I see today is peeling, that I don’t know is just there because of the bandaids. I also don’t know if the bandaid residue would affect the treatment, or if not debriding lesions before treatment might, either.
At this point I’m horrified. I don’t know how I can wash my face or hair. I started my period and I’m scared of this spreading to my nether regions- or one near my mouth spreading into my mouth. I can’t wear gloves at work to change out my pads or go to the restroom. I work with paper and get a lot of paper cuts. I don’t know what to use to disinfect with (especially bedding/my own hands). I’ve started some zinc and b12 vitamins and I don’t know how to stop stressing myself out, which I know will not help stop the spread.
It’s taking a huge toll on my mental health, being all over my face, and of course I’m afraid of spreading it to others. I don’t know if I’m going to have this for weeks or for the rest of my life.
Can I get any input?

2023.03.30 20:08 fungirl1234321 SORRY NOT SORRY - I think it’s him embracing his Autistic self. (About Tyler, the Creator’s song SORRY NOT SORRY)

SORRY NOT SORRY - I think it's him embracing his Autistic self.
The song revolves around the unmasking process that I have experienced, as a High Functioning Autistic. Upon learning I've been masking throughout my life, once the mask slipped off in adulthood, I ultimately burned many bridges. It appears that, he's referencing embracing his autism and thus, coming to terms with it, is killing his past personas or 'masks'.
I'll break down the references in the song, that lead me to believe that. This is simply my experience and perception, and I've got to be quick when establishing the framework otherwise I'll spend all day on it. My apologies if its not in line with someone else experience of if it offends anyone. I'm not diagnosing Tyler, merely connecting the patterns I witnessed in his work to what I've learned in the past year.
Sorry to my old friends The stories we coulda wrote if our egos didn't take the pen
• Autism is associated with egocentrism, the name autism comes from the Greek word 'autos', meaning self.
Sorry to the freaks I led on (Nah, for real, I'm sorry) Who thought their life was gonna change 'cause I gave 'em head on But instead, I sped off, yeah, I know I'm dead wrong Sorry to the guys I had to hide (Ooh) Sorry to the girls I had to lie to
• A common theme among autistics, especially high functioning, is that they may get fixated on a certain person as their special interest, ultimately loosing interest for whatever reason, usually something totally unforeseen to the other party. It's a common theme in marriages, a pronounced honeymoon phase, followed by a perceived lack of interest once married. • The guys he had to hide, is a reference to his past, but also asexuality is somewhat pronounced in autism spectrum.
Anyway, I don't wanna talk (Ooh) Sorry if you gotta dig for info I don't wanna give So you stalk, make up fibs, just to talk about my private life 'cause you're weird (Uh) Met that girl this year (But), that's none ya biz Give enough with my art, know your place My personal space, y'all don't need to to be a part
• Personal space is a hard concept to learn with someone on the spectrum. They sometimes are intrusive in other's personal space, or are highly sensitive about their own personal space.
I'm sorry I don't wanna link and small talk over dinner I don't even drink, can't guilt trip me, I'm ice cold, roller rink
• Small talk is something that isn't well understood in someone with autism, which, in line with appearing to lack empathy, results in the individual appearing to be 'cold'. • "I get my point across in as few words as possible and I rarely sugarcoat. As a result, people sometimes think I’m rude or distant. I hate cues, lies, mind games, small talk, and any otherwise social niceties. Growing up, I wanted to be social but didn’t know how, and these “differences” made it hard to form the friendships I craved. Sometimes they still do."
Sorry I'm not empathetic (Nah, I'm fuckin') Sorry you think I'm pathetic
• As mentioned above, another common theme in autistics, the perception that they have no empathy. • "Some characterizations suggest that autistic people do not feel empathy. However, research indicates that rather than lacking empathy, autistic people may have imbalances in empathy skills compared with neurotypical people. "
Sorry to the fans who say I changed, 'cause I did Sorry you don't know me on a personal level to pinpoint what it is
• It seems this is part of the unmasking process. Often, high function autism is missed throughout ones life, until something happens which leads them to the diagnosis, at which point they learn that all their personas were merely masks they had established to fit various niches. • Pinpointing what it is, could very well be the fact that most people are caught off guard, even ones close to someone, when they discover and unmask their autism.
I'm not Superman, but I could try I'm sorry I'm pretentious Sorry that the talent, knowledge, passion isn't missin' Sorry when I talk my shit and I could back it up with confidence, it get you niggas trippin', man
• High function autism is generally associated with higher levels of intelligence, which is believed to be what leads to the ability to form various masks in whatever social niche they want to fit into. • Also, some autistics are highly confident with their logical abilities, which is what leads some to believing that they're a narcissist. • When autistics have a special interest, they have great passion in said interest, which leads them to learn all the can about it.
Again, this is merely my perception of his art and the subject of autism, but it's highly correlated in my eyes.

Bonus) Live Product Build & Launch

In the first Digital Economics Cohort, I built out my course The 2 Hour Writer.I have videos showing how I build it with the strategies in phase 3 and 4.There is a bonus module that shows how I had an $85,000 launch that resulted in my first $100K month.I did this to prove the strategies inside Digital Economics work if you stick to the plan. And, this past Black Friday, I blew my that monthly high out of the water in 4 days. That’s the power of these strategies if you stay consistent with your life’s work.

2023.03.30 20:02 8EF922136FD98 Aftermarket mirrors recommendation for CB350 H'Ness

Hi Guys
I recently bought a CB350. The major issue I've experienced with the bike so far is the big blind spot in those small circular mirrors. I almost collided with a car the other day because I switched lanes, unaware of the blind spot.
I've seen people use Bajaj Avenger's and CB300R's mirrors for H'Ness in YouTube videos/reviews. But today when I enquired offline at multiple bike accessories and riding gear stores along with the bigwing showroom, the people said these mirrors won't fit due to different threading pattern and thickness of the mirror shafts.
I don't yet have the required confidence in the bike and in my riding skills because to the stock mirrors. Please suggest the one's that would fit the 2023 model.
Thanks!
