2023.05.28 11:11 ArtinZZ Car Insurance with KiaBoyz?
What the hell are you guys doing about insurance? Insurance is not getting renewed due to all the insurance companies reaction to the thefts.
I have a 2018 Optima with Key Start and I've gone to every single insurance company. Nobody will insure me. Not even local. Progressive, Geico, StateFarm, Amfam, Farmers, Liberty Mutual, etc etc. Even the obscure ones. My car has an alarm, dashcam, etc... Nothing is enough. I'm also under 25 so that's a double whammy for insurance.
I literally live in the middle of nowhere right now too. Like pastures, cows, and goats type middle of nowhere. Not a big city with any real worry for theft.
The ones that do give me a quote is some shit like The General offering me $1200 a month for minimum liability. Should be illegal to even offer that.
Very soon I will lapse and not be able to drive anymore.. absolute bullshit Kia isn't even offering a recall to install Push to Start into vulnerable keystart models. I'm unsure getting it installed will even sway these companies regardless.

2023.05.28 10:14 helplesswithcars Starting off slow.. will this setup work until I can upgrade..
So I can't afford another PW right now.. picked up a Kranzle 1622 PW for some car wash/detail work.. figured I could kind of sort of use it to practice with until I can afford a 4gpm+ gas unit.
Ordered a 100' 3/8" Flexzilla. I have a 50' Kobrajet hose.. not sure if the Flexzilla is the same sort of hose.. or more flexible. Hoping its a little more flexible.. the Kobrajet is solid.. but a bit hard to work with sometimes.
I have a 100' hose reel (manual).
I picked up a turbo nozzle, and am looking at the M5 clone on Amazon that has great reviews and some who own both say it compares to the M5. As I am not sure if I am going to go all in yet.. I figure that's fine to start off with.
I ordered this surface cleaner since my PW is only 2gpm/1200 psi.. I read the bit about 4" per gpm.. thus 4gpm should use a 16" or so wide.. but this was the smallest one I could find.
this I figured for < $100 its good enough for some odd jobs and while it will be slower with my PW than a 4+gpm.. it should work I believe.
Not sure about what SH and surfactant to get though. I figure SH there are a lot on amazon.. saw some 4 gallon packs of 12.5% for $80.. is that good enough? Haven't tried the local pool store yet.. but as long as its 12.5%.. it can be mixed down to 3% for post treat?
I was trying to order elemonator sufactant.. but apparently the company doesnt ship to California.. so not sure what surfactant to get/use. I see on Amazon the Oxy stuff.. but doesnt say its a surfactant.. so not sure.. any suggestions?
Got the MTM ball joint 3000psi in my cart.. with that M5 clone.. just waiting on figuring out if I can/should order sh and surfactant on amazon or not before I place that order.
I am thinking of the Harbor Freight 4.2Gpm unit that a lot of people bought. Can get it for like $800 when its on sale. Is that good enough? Assuming so.. does it make sense to swap it for a General Pump setup.. or would it be better to try to buy a 5gpm General Pump PW for like $1500 or so out the gate and will that last a long time or what?
Also looking at one of those downstreamers on amazon.. the one for $185 seems kind of super high in price.. compared to the ones for $30 or so on amazon. Couple of them got 4.5/5 reviews and say it also compares to the much more expensive one?
I'll worry about a better surface cleaner once I figure out the right gas PW to get.

2023.05.28 04:55 stockymonkey GLC 43 failure. Not sure what happened
I bought a 2018 AMG GLC 43 coupe in December. It ran well though it always felt like it ran kind of rough. I didn't know if this was just a feature of driving a sportier car (I used to drive a kia optima which was very smooth). It always felt like acceleration and braking was a bit uneven. So I was on a 3 hour drive to visit family and about 20 minutes away from my destination I floored it and noticed the car was really loud suddenly like I had no muffler. Much louder even than when I press the button to open up the exhaust. I thought I was imagining things. A few minutes later the check engine light comes on and I notice the car just feels unresponsive and sluggish. I immediately made a call to my family to come get me and pulled over. The car was vibrating really hard and even when I got into park, and idled, the car was bouncing. I shut off the car and called AAA. I got rhe car from Carvana and purchased the 4 year premier bumper to bumper coverage on it. Does anyone know what might be wrong with it from my description? I am about to go out of the country for two weeks and it's memorial day weekend so I probably won't hear from them for several days

2023.05.27 20:35 bondbat007 Selling our Kia's...
Well, I guess it was bound to happen. My wife and I live in Chicago (Lakeview area) and we both have 2017 Kia Fortes (pure coincidence)
We both woke up last week and found our cars with their rear passenger windows smashed and the steering wheel column torn apart. Luckily, for whatever reason, the culprits were not able to steal either car. I should also add that while these were on the same street, they were parked at least half a block away from one another and no other cars on the street (including a couple of Hyundais and a Kia Soul) were targeted.
So after taking care of everything and reading about all the craziness with this Kia/Hyundai situation, we've decided to sell our cars. We both bought them in 2020 and it's insane how more expensive the used car market is now.
I drive for work (field sales) so I need something with good mileage. And something a little bigger wouldn't be bad either since I have a lot of work stuff in the car. My parents are offering us to buy their 2017 Subaru Forester for what we can get for one of the Forte's. It has around 55k miles on there and is in excellent condition. So I think we plan on doing that.
For the 2nd car, we're probably looking at another similar sized seden. Obviously Kia and Hyundai is out. With how insane the used car prices are now, is it worth it to just try to get a new Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic or something like that? Or are there any used car types that we should be looking at? Right now we're looking at somewhere between 11k-14k for the Kia trade in so we don't want to finance TOO much more. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

2023.05.27 15:44 Pr0zAck 2022 Seltos rattling noise
We have a 2022 Seltos SX and there is a very annoying rattling noise coming from the air vent by the steering wheel or possibly the A post when going over even the slightest bump in the road and in Canada there's lots of rough roads.
Took it to the dealership for them to look at it and they said they heard the noise too but wouldn't fix it. They also said they took a couple other seltos out and heard the same rattle noise from the same area of those vehicles too and just said it's probably a design flaw which I think is a horrible answer
Anyone else have this issue with their Seltos? I'll try and get a video posted. I've already sent in a customer complaint to Kia.

2023.05.27 15:04 CatoTheNotSoElder Colorado dealers: sell me a Telluride?
Ordered a 2023 EX in January, our CO dealer says it’s been delayed because of the hail and doesn’t know when it will arrive. Bad luck.
We would like to get our new car by June 14, open to checking out: -EX up to SX Xline -some color preferences but know we can’t be too picky
Our EX was MSRP, and I’d like to not pay a markup. I know some dealers have market adjustment policies and I get the market dynamic things…but it’s an opportunity for an easy sale if you’re at MSRP. I have cash.
I’ll send out emails to other CO dealers after the holiday weekend (websites in stock seems to be hit or miss on accuracy).
Posting here in case any Kia sales people on the Reddit want a low effort sale, love the hustle and posting in the Reddit community.

2023.05.27 15:02 TFVooDoo Best Watches for SFAS
This is a question that I get fairly often so I thought I’d do a post about it.
Lots of younger guys don’t wear watches and rely on their phones for timekeeping. This is pedestrian in my opinion, and not an option for SFAS. A watch is one of the three pieces of ‘jewelry’ that are appropriate for a proper man to wear. A watch, a wedding band, and a signet ring (to signal your membership in a secret society or such). The KIA/POW Memorial Bands are also acceptable, but only if you knew the memorialized or are otherwise connected. Anything else is just virtue signaling.
Everything that you do at SFAS is timed. Some timed events will happen without a watch, but most events require you to be a good time manager. A good time manager needs a good watch. Because so many guys don’t regularly wear a watch they have questions about which is best for SFAS.
The official packing list requires two.
You have to be deliberate here, because you need some functionality, but many functions are unauthorized (altimeter, barometer, compass, pedometer, and of course GPS). I always recommend 3 key functions: a light, a timer, and a vibrating alarm. You need a light so you can check for time at night without pulling out a flashlight. You need a timer so you can time stuff…a countdown timer is ideal. You need an alarm so that you can reduce your cognitive load by outsourcing this mundane task. But a vibrating alarm is key; no need to announce to the world that you’re timing stuff.
A recent class had a whole team get IVWed for oversleeping…during Team Week. 20 days of performance wasted for the want of an alarm.
I also recommend at my
Land Nav Musters (new dates for June just dropped) using the vibrating function to remind you to take in some calories. It’s also great for proper route management. Again, managing cognitive load.
So, I’ll recommend 3 watches. The first is super affordable option, the
Casio W735H. It’s not technically a G-Shock, but it’s pretty rugged. If you’re looking for an affordable option to fill-in for your tactical wrist computer then this a great choice. I think it’s on sale for less than $30 right now.
If you want the confidence of a G-Shock, then the
Casio GD350-1C is a solid choice. The world clock is cool for deployment, and it has all of the features I described above. It’s on sale for under $100 right now, and I’ve seen them on eBay for under $30. Buyer beware.
Some guys just don’t like the G-Shock styling so I’ll offer up this
Timex Expedition. It looks a little more like a smartwatch (but none of the unauthorized features) and is still shock rated. It features a countdown timer and it vibrates.
So, get a watch (get two) and start using it
during your prep so you can have the functionality all figured out before you get to Mackall.
For the record, I wear a Seiko Marinemaster Tuna Can in stainless. When I was deployed I wore a Nike Oregon (which someone stole in Afghanistan…fucking augmentees!) or my trusty Suunto X-Lander Aluminum that just recently shit the bed…I’m still in mourning. If anyone from Suunto is reading this, you could ease the pain of a disabled veteran with a little collaboration.
If you guys want a post on good watches post-SFAS just comment below. You might surprised, but I have strong opinions on the topics.
Also, please comment on your watch of choice, so we can all laugh at just how wrong you are…

2023.05.27 14:41 BracTheRock Lightweight, fairly strong transaxle options for the dumbest project you've ever heard?
I've recently come to possess the frame of an Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail UTV, and I've got an itch to get into a really fucking stupid project. Inspired by the surplus of VW sand rails and "shart karts" for sale around my area, I'd like to do one better, a carbureted 12a or 13b up front, transaxle in the back, a real "fuck around and find out" setup. (I've measured it out and a full RX7 engine and transmission wouldn't fit, the trans would interfere with the pedal box)
Now, at one point I had an '87 Porsche 944 N/A, and that transaxle blew up on me within a couple months of buying it. I've heard the 944 Turbo axles are much sturdier, I've also heard that Audi A4 axles are good, but they look very large and bulky to fit in this application. My initial reaction was C5 corvette, but their LS powertrains would be sporting a much taller final drive, and it looked like a PITA to swap ring and pinion.
Long-winded backstory aside, what transaxle would you recommend using in a lightweight, short wheelbase, rotary-powered application?

2023.05.27 14:39 krishmani85 Honda vs. Mazda
Hey all,
I'm shopping for a Hybrid SUV recently to upgrade from my 10-year old sedan. Family of 4 with 2 toddlers. Test drove a couple of vehicles: Honda CRV Hybrid, Hyundai Santa Fe, Tucson, Kia Sportage, Subaru Forester, Lexus Rx350h and Mazda CX-90 Phev. I know they are in different segments though.
Based on the stock availability and no long waiting period, sale at MSRP with no atrocious mark ups, ride comfort and spacious interiors, I kind of narrowed down and put deposits on CR-V Hybrid (Sport Touring) and Mazda CX-90 PHEV (Premium). Both will be available in mid-June. Need inputs on what to choose.
CR-V:
- spacious interiors, nice ride quality, high resale value, MSRP at $40K
- Boring design (I hate it :( , hearing about few transmission issues, no panoramic moonroof
- can trust and use it for many years, hopefully
CX-90:
- 3 row SUV, all bells and whistles (except heated steering wheel and ventilated seats),
- PHEV so daily short commute within town should be done with EV mode, can plugin at home daily
- competes with luxury SUVs, blown away with the Quartz metallic exterior color , best color of all cars for me personally
- not sure on engine quality as its first of its kind in the US with PHEV, MSRP $55K.
Any thoughts?

2023.05.27 09:04 PrimeraAssassin Need help with buying my first vehicle.
I don't know much about cars So I thought I should ask the people here. I tried to get loan from bank and credit union but due to my international status with work permit They are not giving me any loans without a Co-borrower and I don't have anyone who can do that either. So I don't think I can get anything through private sales unless I am missing something. So I looked at some dealers and saw few cars, the bottom choices are the ones that seems to fit my budget:
2017 hyundai Elantra GL for 19990 CAD, 81681KM
2018 Kia forte LX Plus for 19974 CAD, 57805 km
They both seem pricey to me but then again I am not sure on that maybe you guys can tell if the price is ok and the cars are decent or not.
I wanted to buy a toyota corolla but they are too pricey here, most 2016+ models are all 20K+ even with 100K+ km.
My credit score is 800 so is there way I could get loan in some way and if these 2 cars are not good options which cars should I be looking for. I really need a vehicle ASAP for my work. One more important thing, I will be using my vehicle to do deliveries as well so it will be frequently used. Thank you
