| I’m attaching a program from the 1985 Stake Beehive Conference. It’s interesting the push for Temple Marriage, obedience, and the hammer… Morality of Youth. It’s interesting that they organized this around a “game” called Bridges and Gaps that initially sounds like awesome life skills and something age appropriate for 12 and 13 year old girls. Here is a link to someone selling the game… I looked it up to remember what it was… it’s creepy. https://classifieds.ksl.com/listing/60884869 However, the only damned thing I remember from this event was the movie Morality For Youth. It’s terrorizing! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NHJ7MaRsQc I have been sorting memories and purging shit I just don’t need. I thought this would be interesting to talk about here. During the 80’s they were constantly using videos, filmstrips, music and media to scare and impact us. Remember from a 2023 perspective, a you tube video is no big deal, but back in 1983 when this was produced, it was one of the first action videos set to narration and music. Prior to that, they used film strips. Talk amongst yourselves, and thanks for reading! submitted by RustySignOfTheNail to exmormon [link] [comments] |

I'm talking about the functionality of the app, not the content.
I'm on android and it barely works for at least a few months now. Even the regular desktop website has started to be slow as hell lately. I've tried reinstalling and clearing cache and stuff but damn it just won't load stuff half the time.

2023.04.26 17:26 Drinkyoursunnyb KSL Classifieds removed their "Free Pets" section
Any other animal lovers in Utah notice that ksl classifieds removed their free pets section? They also added a $15 fee to post dogs.
https://www.ksl.com/article/50512554/why-ksl-classifieds-is-working-to-fight-fraud-in-their-pet-section this link provides their reasoning as to why, but I just find most of it to be unreasonable. My friend is homeless and I'm trying to help her by giving her a place to stay but we can't have dogs in our apartment. I went to post her dog to try to find a foster for him, but the category was gone. I understand that they are trying to reduce fraud and backyard breeding, but KSL free pets was the holy grail for animal rescuers who use their own time and money to try to find these pets good homes. And now I can't even post my friend's dog as a temporary foster, because you have to put a price on them. I know I can put him in the dog section for $1 but it's going to take way longer to find someone. Anyone else annoyed?
Edit: It's just been made clear to me that dog fighting is very prevalent in Utah. I would have never even thought about that point. That makes sense then, why they would remove the free pets category. But the listing shouldn't be costing any more than $5 to post, in my opinion. Backyard breeders sell overpriced dogs anyway. So it's not like the $15 fee will hinder them from from continuing to breed and post their ads. They will just raise the price even more to earn it back. The only people it's going to stop, are the people like my friend, who are in need and have literally no money to be able to post it.

2023.04.22 20:36 Different-Pie5619 Finding a solid MTB for my GF
I live in Utah, USA, and I'm looking for some advice. I'm an advanced rider, and I'm trying to get my GF into it. So far she loves it, but doesn't have a bike... or much of a budget to afford one. We went to Moab last weekend and rented a specialized FS bike from Moab Cyclery. I'm done with school, so I ponied up last year and bought a Santa Cruz HighTower (aluminum frame, mid-level specs for that bike). I have LOVED that bike. It set me back $5k - and understandably my GF doesn't feel ready to drop even close to that on a bike because she it just getting into it and is in school still.
My question is this - where should I look for a good bike, that doesn't break the bank (<$1000, ideally less)? If that just isn't in the cards, what should my budget be for her to not be held back by the bike as she improves over the next couple years?
My GF works at REI over the summer, so she was planning to pro-deal an REI co-op DRT bike (best 1.x or a 2.1, probably) for almost half off. I am only at looking at hard-tails at this point, since adding FS instantly kicks the price up by 2k-3k at a minimum. I want a solid frame that she can slowly upgrade components on as she gets better. I know it isn't an ideal situation because she would be trying to keep up with a FS bike with a hard-tail, but for now that's fine while she is learning.
Where should I be looking? I have looked at PinkBike and KSL (local Utah classifieds) so far, I don't have a FB account so no classifieds or groups for me.

2023.04.12 05:08 thomasc_ I may need a dual sport
Hey Y'all, I'm looking to buy a bike for my short commute on the freeway to work, and the weekend trip to my parents farm. I'll need to drive at least 45mi on unpaved roads to get to the farm. I know it's not much, but I've got a budget of about $2500 and I'm not afraid to wrench. I'm mostly looking on ksl classifieds and facebook marketplace. What should I look out for?

2023.04.06 18:15 Rockmaninoff Can anyone with a KSL Classifieds account help me contact a seller and hopefully get some skis? I've been trying to create an account for 3 days and nothing has worked (including tech support)!
Hi, I've been searching for these older model J Skis Masterblaster for quite some time now in this length, and they popped up on the
KSL Classifieds here.
Unfortunately, without an account I can't see any of the seller's info, and creating an account just doesn't work for me. I've called into tech support multiple times with no answer, and have also emailed with no answer.
Just getting their email or phone number to text would be incredible -- DM would be great. Thank you to anyone who can help!

2023.03.26 11:53 iamthe_goodboy Advice on first bike
Hi, I am looking into getting an adventure motorcycle, because I want something that I can ride to and on the trails. I also like the idea of long trips, like the Backcountry Discovery Routes although I have no experience with such.
I have a little offroad experience, about a year's worth on a small dirt bike and I have ridden a crf 450 a few times with out much issue. I have tons of experience on large trail four-wheelers for whatever that is worth.
I am 5' 8" inches tall 215 lbs with about a 31.5" inseam but on the crf 450 I have ridden I can at least touch both toes on the ground (it has a lowering kit) and I think I can be comfortable with that. Given all of this, I think it would be foolish and unsafe to get a bike that is too much for me to handle. I think that I would like not to be hindered by the performance of the bike offroad but I also realize that my skill level will likely reach its limit first so I am more concerned with getting a bike that is too much for me than I am with getting one that is too small, at least for my first bike.
On KSL classifieds (a local buy and sell website) I have found a few options that I think be a good fit for me. Starting from the lowest cost to the highest there are as follows.
2011 klr with 14k miles for $2600 that looks mostly stock except for a skid plate and maybe hand guards,
a 2020 versys x300 with 20k miles for $3200 with an aftermarket skid plate,
a 2000 KTM 640 adventure for $3799 with aftermarket skid plate and hard guards (apparently it is getting a bunch of service rn, fork seals head gaskets, etc.),
A 2008 v-strom dl 650 with 60k miles for $4500 and tons of after-market parts including panniers and such,
and lastly, a 2020 KTM 390 adventure with 5k miles for $5499 looks bone stock but comes with stock crash bars, unlike the others.
What do you think about these choices I am leaning toward the x300 because it is small not too powerful and has a low seat height or maybe the v-strom for the aftermarket parts making it a good package.
TLDR: What do you think about the bikes listed above for a beginner like myself?

2023.03.24 22:25 mormcore_ Starter moped to learn maintenance?
I want to get into the world of learning & maintaining engines (total novice), and I didn't want to start with either a full project car or a boring lawnmower. Is this listing below something good? I like that it isn't a total beater but that I could potentially learn some things by giving it some love.

2023.03.13 04:05 FantsE Long Shot - Mutually Beneficial Box Truck Purchase
Edit: Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I've come to agreement with someone to purchase a cargo van, and I will be purchasing my own trailer to tow with it that I'll be selling in Anchorage. Overall this should save me ~6k, and the van purchaser close to 8k. I'm looking forward to moving to Alaska, thanks for your help!
I am moving to Anchorage and find the price of a moving truck rental ridiculous. So I'm putting out a long shot in hopes of a mutually beneficial arrangement.
I am looking for someone who wants to purchase a used (or new depending on the price and payment agreement) box truck. I'll save money from not getting a rental, you'll get a truck for a lower price than in AK with no delivery fee
• Truck must be within 250 miles of the Salt Lake Area
• Truck must be less than 26,000 GVWR (No CDL required)
• Depending on truck price, you will purchase and receive title and I will put an equal amount into an escrow account, or vice versa, or some combination of the two
• Purchase must occur between April 1 and April 28 (earlier depending on payment terms)
• I will pay for complete insurance until the truck is given to you
• You will pay for mechanical inspection of the vehicle, but I will give my time to oversee it (and can recommend mechanics)
• I will change all fluids upon purchase as necessary
• I will be driving ~3000 miles
• Truck will arrive mid-May
• You'll get the truck for less than the cost of purchase in AK and have no delivery fee
• I am willing to provide a copy of my (clean) driving record
The main classifieds for my area are a local news called KSL and Facebook marketplace. Craigslist has few listings.
DM or post with any questions or interest. It's a long shot but I'm hoping to find something to help myself and someone else.
