2023.06.06 03:57 LordBloodrevan Anders I- Rising Sun (Open to King's Landing)

Anders Dayne

vibes
He had awoken bright and early at the first sign of the morning sun. The feel of the ocean underneath him kept him sleeping relatively easily even if King's Landing hardly slept. Anders Dayne threw on a tunic that he usually reserved for sparring and rough pants, had he not strapped his ancestral sword on his back, he might have been taken for someone who wasn't highborn.
Anders had found a local bakery, and the night before offered them double the cost for all of their food if they would sell it exclusively to him. There was no reason for them to decline, and so they didn't. The last thing he needed was a cart. He went to a local carpenter for that too.
"Hello, my good ser." Anders said upon entering the shop, ducking down slightly to avoid bashing his head on the tools that hung from the ceiling. "Do you happen to have a cart I can rent?"
"Rent? No. Sell? Yes." The man replied.
"I truly don't need it for longer than today. If you'd allow it, I'll give you a stag for your trouble and if any damage is inflicted on it I'll purchase it." Anders would counter.
"Hmm, alright." The man replied. "It's out back, locked up. Meet me there."
With a slight bow to show his appreciation as well as avoiding the sharp tools once more, he stepped out of the shop and headed towards the alley behind the shop, where indeed there was a cart. He noticed it was a handcart, not one meant to be pulled by a horse, that was fine by him.
"Perfect. I'll have it back to you by sundown." Anders replied with a smile, grabbing the large poles of wood that were intended to be handles and began pulling it back to the bakery.
When he arrived he began loading all of the bread and baked goods that he'd ordered onto the back of the cart. He was pleased to see quite a few meat pies alongside the breads. The people of Flea Bottom would need more than bread to satiate them.
When the cart was loaded, Anders once again began to pull it behind him, making the treacherous journey down into Flea Bottom. He received a few askew glances, and even noticed a few children dashing forward and grabbing something from the cart before running away. He simply chuckled at that.
There was a small courtyard he'd find after a few minutes of walking. It was there he parked the cart and sat on the edge of a fountain that could use a deep cleaning. The first person to approach was a young boy, no older than six. He was covered in dirt and had more than a few scrapes.
"Are you hungry?" Anders would ask.
The boy nodded quickly.
"Okay, come here." Anders smiled broadly. "Let's get you the best thing I have on here. I have a nice warm meat pie. Make sure you eat it here, or people may take it from you."
"If you don't mind, before you eat however." Anders reached back into his cart for a jug of water and a bolt of fabric he'd use as a towel. "Let's clean your hands up at least. I'd hate for this meal to taste of dirt."
The boy complied, allowing Anders to wash his hands and face. "Can I really have it milord?"
"Ser." Anders corrected gently. "You may, and I'd like you to tell every child you know to come get some as well. I'll be here all day."
The boy ate the pie next to Anders, who regaled him with stories of the Sword of the Morning descriptions of the Torrentine.
Before long, Anders would have nearly the entire courtyard full of children, all listening in awe as they chewed on their bread and meats with their freshly washed faces and hands.
Always be the knight you'd have looked up to. Rang his father's voice in his head. He missed him.

2023.06.06 03:57 goop_lizard Disimmurement 1/2

It's good to see you again, I'm sure you've been pretty busy lately. Don't bother ordering anything to eat, this shouldn't take that long. A drink might be in order though. Something strong. Nothing for me, thanks, I've work to do soon.
Now, while a social call would be pleasant I'm afraid I've reached out to you for some important business. I have seen the risen body of the king.
Sit down! Quiet. No need to make a scene, now. I can answer your questions once I've said my piece. We can leave the why for later, it's a bit complicated. Was a bit complicated. Simpler now, but... hard to explain. The how is an easier place to start.
You might think there's no way to slip by unnoticed somewhere as restricted as the exclusion zone - that they'd have sensor drones and satellites flag you the moment you stepped in and you'd be removed within minutes. In most places you'd be right, but the valley of the tomb is not most places. I'm sure you remember the beginning of the raid, before any of us knew what we were getting into. The whole place was covered in a haze so thick we had to tie ropes to eachother just to stay together, and what little sunlight made it through came down wrong. A thin, fetid color that should have been a beautiful gold but felt more like the yellow of rancid grease. The only other light that didn't die five feet from its source was from the constant flashes of actinic lightning that just so happened to drown out any radio signals.
I suppose they could set up the borders farther away, but honestly? I don't think they want to. Nobody sane would ever think of getting in, and they know they're not stopping anything that comes out. Better to let themselves think nothing comes in or out, that the exclusion zone is a formality to keep out the occasional crazy from wandering in. I think they're scared that if they keep too close an eye on things they'll see something that breaks that assumption. Something they don't want to think about.
I'm rambling a bit. The important part is that the only thing keeping me out was the patrols. They weren't much trouble though. Even outside the fog that place wears on you. Keeps you from sleeping right. Makes you feel like someone's watching. A few months of that, and I made sure to go in right before they got rotated out, and it's not hard to write off that figure in the distance as a trick of the mind.
Once I made it inside I knew things had gotten worse. The first few dozen yards were the same but past that I soon reached a point where no sunlight reached the ground at all. I found my way first by the the constant flashes of lightning, and, when even they had been eaten by the choking fog, and my flashlight served only to illuminate a yard or two ahead of my feet, by the pull of that damned place. I suppose I could feel it to begin with, that it was why I went back to begin with, but it was always in the background... Still calling me but ignorable, at least for a time... You can feel it too, right? Just over that hill to the North......
On second thought maybe I will have a drink. One moment.
Much better. Now, back to the story. It took me about an hour to reach our old base camp. I thought for sure it would have been destroyed but... Hmm? Well, yes, I did come from the opposite direction, but you're thinking too literally. A place like that is very abstract, much more about the journey you see, and the journey I set out on started with darkness, then the base camp, then the tomb, and then... I'll leave the end for the end, but the point is that I couldn't have passed them in any other order. It's like a story - the order is fixed once the book is printed.
From that explanation you might think the camp twisted into some metaphorical mockery of itself, or perhaps ruined to symbolize mankind's weakness, or some other similar thing, but what I came across impacted me far more deeply. It was intact. No, not intact, preserved. I've seen the old base camps from when we were cleaning out bandits, old tents abandoned for just a couple years to the sand when it was deemed not worth recovering them until we came along for some late cleanup, and it's amazing how fast the elements set to work on something not meant to stay in one place for more than a few days. It had been there for nearly a decade, with all the equipment we'd brought left in place, and yet not a speck of dust had found it.
I'm sure you recall how we were found afterwards, lying in the arid scrublands just outside the storm with nothing but our jumpsuits. I found our arms and armor there as well, neatly folded and placed in footlockers. Whatever made us flee, we didn't run in a panic - we calmly put everything in its place and simply walked away. We all said that we ran, though, that we had been chased. Isn't that curious to you? Probing my memory before the incident I still recalled panic, being paralyzed before an overwhelming presence, and yet I had nothing afterwards. Not a single clear image from after we breached the tomb. I said we ran because all I could remember was the fear, and that was the explanation that made the most sense of things.
At first I thought there wasn't much for me there besides the realization. The fuel cells had all gone dead, of course, and our records were all stored on the camp's computers. When I attempted to retrieve the memory cards, however, I found them gone - not just the cards themselves but the caddies that would normally extend to receive them. Propping open the spring-loaded slot and turning my flashlight to it, I could see that the entire computer was not without power, it had been entirely hollowed out. I will admit to having fallen into a bit of a panic at that, blindly tearing apart anything else electronic - no doubt the old base camp will prove far less preserved for whoever managed to stumble upon it next - but in all of them I found the same result. Even the displays had been stripped of their circuitry, leaving only black panels with not even a scrap of wire dangling from them to indicate they had ever been used as part of a larger device. Thankfully we'd taken purely mechanical weapons on that first expedition, and I took the opportunity to arm myself before proceeding, with great trepidation, to the tomb itself.
It was not similarly untouched. Most of the outer walls were intact, at least from what little I'd seen - those walls of some unknowable black material, broken up by countless gold adornments and engraved with what looked like stories of some great god-king. Carvings that would have found themselves perfectly at home in the stone burial halls of ancient Merkat or Hattesh, although I concede to not having looked too closely. I was far more focused on that great door where we had made our original entrance.
It had taken us hours to make that hole after the door had refused to open, even with the explosives at our disposal, and while the gap itself was thankfully still there, the edges had started to heal. That word, heal, is very important - nobody was rebuilding it. I saw no evidence of tools nor worldly methods of repair. Instead the edges had grown over with a bulging, fibrous mass that I took to be scar tissue. I attempted to take a sample, to see if any of the scientists could tell me its makeup, but it was just as cold and unyielding as the false-stone which surrounded it. I hurried inside after that, secure at least in the knowledge that if it was still growing the stiffness of it would make the process so slow as to not impede my escape.
Once inside the pull was much stronger, to the point I could barely resist it. Whatever those black walls had been made of was proving itself effective as insulation. I soon found myself abandoning any further investigation, only barely restraining myself from sprinting as I made my way into the central burial chamber...

2023.06.06 03:57 letifera Visiting Seoul/Jeju Island with a tree nut allergy?

I’m hoping to visit South Korea next year (thinking of going to Seoul and Jeju Island), and was wondering if anyone has experience with navigating a severe tree nut allergy at restaurants? I can safely eat peanuts and almonds, but all other nuts are a no go (especially pine nuts and cashews). I don’t normally eat desserts or at street vendors when I travel to be safe, but was wondering how safe it would be for me to eat at restaurants (probably with a printed allergy card).
Thanks for your help!

2023.06.06 03:56 jacklawd Unemployment - Working Remote (FL) for a Company in CT

I'm fairly certain I'm going to be let go because I'm not moving to fulfill my jobs return to office requirements.
I was hired during COVID, and the location of the job is set to CT and not officially remote. They haven't required a move until recently, now that the pandemic is "over".
Due to life things, moving is not an option. Company policy is that they do not allow permanent WFH/remote work, so they will not accommodate me. As a result, I expect to be let go in the very near future.
I am job searching now, but I want to know what filing for unemployment looks like for me, if at all possible, because it's multi-state and a bit weird.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I absolutely love this restaurant and always tip nice it just kills me every time I see this. 2023.06.06 03:54 allkuku You are probably not the problem, nor is it possible to fix what someone else broke

This has taken me a long time to realize. For over 5 years now, I kept thinking if I was nice and accommodating enough to someone else's poorly-behaved kids, if I let their wants take precedence over my own, that, eventually, it would turn out alright. That they would like me, respect me and eventually treat me as a member of the family. That I could even help these poor, charming, sad kids.
Newsflash: It never happened.
Nope.
What did? (Skip to 'Please don't misunderstand me' below to find actual advice, as opposed to a rant/vent.)
Well, apart from near-incessant fighting, whining and dishonesty, more specifically:
- 2017-present: His son attacked other children at school, camp and extracurricular activities, once to the extent that the entire school had to be shut-down. (Most recently, he seems to have followed in his mother's footsteps by punching a hole through the wall at both houses (with, of course, no therapy resulting from the act).)-
~2018: His daughter, in kindergarten, threatens to burn a teacher she dislikes with fire.
- 2017-present: Him chuckling as both children, as young as four and six, lied about things as minor as brushing their teeth or being caught up later than their bedtime.
- Winter 2022: Months of his daughter not eating the entire day, then oh-so-coincidentally claiming she was hungry right at her bedtime, and him accommodating her, every single time.
- April 2022: He admitting they had a lying problem before kicking me out of our hotel in an unfamiliar city on vacation when I finally lost it (after 5 years of this nonsense) when his daughter claimed that whether she saw her brother or not was 'a difficult question' (by losing it, I mean, snapping: "What, are you blind?"), and, earlier that day, his ~12-year-old son had a temper tantrum after we had to chase them both down through an entire museum, after they ran off with no warning. (All this, after his daughter sulked about for no discernible reason during the birthday trip it was my idea to plan at all. (My hopefully-soon-to-be-ex had never before taken her along on vacation with him and his parents, only his son.)
- April 2022: My hopefully-soon-to-be-ex forcibly trying to break into my apartment (jamming the door against the lock while yelling and slamming furniture around), while I, in a panic, tried calling a now-understandably-former 'friend' of 6+ years I had seen a few weeks prior, who claimed she was in a meeting, before finally, thankfully, managing to reach my parents and rush home .- Countless other instances I won't bore you with.

Please don't misunderstand me: at least half of this (if not more) is my fault.

Some of the instances recounted lack context: due to the situation, I have not been an easy person to be with. I tried and failed to break up with my hopefully-soon-to-be-ex countless times, allowed loyalty to cloud my judgement, took responsibility for things that were not and will never be my fault, claiming that our relationship problems were due to me being 'difficult to be with' (which, as you can perhaps gather, is somewhat true o:) ), as opposed to the main issue at hand, that is: him, his Wall-punching baby mama's and his bastards'** troubling behaviour.
(** I do not say this to be insulting, but because, since my hopefully-soon-to-be-ex did not marry their mother, that would be the dictionary definition of what they are.)

Nor do I say any of this to indicate that these children are inherently bad, no.
This is not the children's fault - it is the parents'. If you are a single parent and you allow your child to take on the very traits that made your relationship with their ex tank because you feel guilty or are scared of your ex, that is on you.I firmly believe that no child, no person, is born evil. We are what we are raised to be.

So, if you are a 'farce-parent' and you want out, if you're considering suicide or violence or things you never have before, know that you are not the problem.

This system that shames 'step-parents', while they are often treated poorly by both kids and parents alike, that delusionaly even calls unrelated adults a 'step-parent', while they have living ones, this is the problem, in my opinion.

You have a right to stand up for yourself. You have a right to respect. You have a right to a partner who treats you well.

What has helped me lately?
> Not seeing these troubled children. At all. (Half a year and counting now - YES!). No longer do I need to watch, horror-stricken, as my hopefully-soon-to-be-ex (and his baby mama, from what I gather) condone violence, lying and manipulating in ways I would never allow in my own children.
> Telling people the truth. From the beginning the situation felt wrong and bad to me, but I kept my mouth shut in hopes that it would improve and afraid that I would be judged as a bad person for not being able to love someone else's kids I have no say in raising.
> Slowly but surely, standing up to my hopefully-soon-to-be-ex about what I do deserve. (As he is only the second man I have been fully intimate with and I have considerable emotional baggage myself, I am perhaps holding onto the relationship for far longer than I should.)

Hopefully, one day I will look back on these words and take my own advice: Leave.

In the meantime, hopefully we can take solace in the fact that we are not alone.

2023.06.06 03:54 EzekielWinters The Liberator Ch 3

Draven’s eyes squinted, and he sank deep within himself. Pulling on [Mind Supremacy], Draven blocked out the pain and focused on his inner flame. He pulled on his essence, charging up as much fire as he could. Flames licked the surface of his armor as he built up more flames with [Draconic Pyromancy].
New Mind Supremacy Technique! Pain suppressant
Draven opened his eyes, flames burning deep within them. He cried out as he unleashed the tightly packed fire he contained within himself. Flames exploded out of him, pushing the El’Dresi away from him.
The El’Dresi crossed his arms, blocking his face from the brunt of the flames. The explosion pushed him back, causing his exosuit to leave rough groves along the metal flooring.
“The little disciple has some bite to his bark,” the El’Dresi smiled. He disappeared in a flash of lightning again, using the Flash Step Technique of air dragonborn. The El’Dresi appeared before Draven again, blade zipping towards Draven's heart.
Draven’s heart skipped a beat as he channeled Essence to his Supremacy Talents and entered Ascendancy mode. The Sygaldry along his armor glowed a furry red, empowered by Draven’s Essence. He parried the El’Dresi’s blade and punched the air dragonborn with a fist of concussive fire.
The El’Dresi went sailing into the air, crashing into the ground with a bang.
“Draven, Sync up with me,” Sygvar said. He too had entered Ascendancy mode.
Draven pushed his mind into the Weave. He found the Sympathetic Thread connecting him and his Master. It was thick, a sign of their strong connection. He bound himself to it, allowing himself to become one with his master’s mind, body, and soul.
New Mind, Body, Soul Supremacy Technique! Sync
Draven quickly entered the settings of his status and disabled notifications. He thought to leave them on before because he believed they could be helpful. But they were distracting him from the battle.
A wurl wind of air manifested around the El’Dresi as he floated to his feet in Acendecy Mode. The Sygaldry, runes of power, decorating his armor, were a blaze, a green glow emanating from the words of power.
“Now the real fun begins,” the El’Dresi crackled. He Flashed Stepped, disappearing again.
Draven sensed the El’Dresi through the Weave. He lashed out behind him, kicking the El’Dresi in the chest and pushing him towards Sygvar.
Sygvar kicked the legs from under the El’Dresi, causing him to fall.
Draven created a flame missile and fired it point-blank at the El’Dresi.
The El’Dresi conjured a blast of Air, causing the missile to bend off course and detonate into the ground.
He hopped to his feet, sending a chain of lightning at Sygvar.
Sygvar blocked it with his sword. He then heated his blade and cut into the armor of the El’Dresi.
The El’Dresi pulled back in pain.
Draven came from behind, delivering a cut to the El’Dresi’s leg. Causing the air dragon born to fall to his knee.
“You guys are good, too good. I guess I need a little help,” the El’Dresi said as he pressed a button.
“You talk too much,” Draven said, smacking the El’Dresi.
Gates squeaked open, and the ground began to rumble. Hollows came pouring into the room. Marrows ran on all four, with Spikes trailing just behind them. Bone Devils mixed in with the horde, pushing aside the weaker hollows to get to Draven and Sygvar.
The El’Dresi jumped to his feet and sprinted toward the incoming horde of hollows. Draven and his master raced after him before he could get to safety.
Draven unleashes a cone of fire. Superheating the air as it impacted the El’Dresi.
The El’Dresi conjured a shield of air, deflecting the blast of flames. And letting the momentum push him up and over the horde of hollows. He disappeared in the wave of bodies, crackling like a madman.
“Damn it,” Sygvar hissed. “Draven, stay close to me.”
Draven drew near his master. Only a few feet away from him.
“We’re going to clear a path towards the computer terminal. I want you to have Ari download the files off of it.” Sygvar yelled over the horde of hollows. His sword was ablaze with fire as he sliced throw a Marrow.
“The base will self-destruct in five minutes,” a voice boomed from speakers in the room.
“That bastard! Draven, don’t hold back! When need to get to that console!” Sygvar’s voice warped and deepened as his body transformed. His exosuit became more organic, melding to his body like a second skin. Wings and a tail sprouted from his back. His fingers and toes sharped into claws, and flames manifested on his arms and as a crown of fire above his head. Sygvar flew into the mob of feral mutants, becoming a living storm of fire and death.
Draven underwent a less impressive transformation. The red glow from the Sygaldry and flames manifested as jets along his arms and legs. The Hollows before him slowed as he sped up his perception time.
Plums of fire rocketed Draven into the horde of Hollows, following his master. His sword glowed as he sliced throw the feral mutants. The Marrows and Spikes were cut down like butter, but the Bone Devils were still challenging. But they were cut down in a few strikes while Draven was in his enhanced state.
The duo gradually cut their way toward the terminal. That’s when Draven got a spike of danger from the Weave. He was too slow and was slapped across the face by a giant claw. Draven backflipped, distancing himself from the new foe.
This creature was different than the others. This was a Wargoth, a mutant with the power of bone and muscle. Four muscular tentacles protruded from the creature's back. Segmented bone covered the spasming muscles as its tentacles wiped around. It roared, spitting saliva all over the ground. Then charged Draven, its four claws shaving the metal flooring.
Draven kicked the creature in the face, sending out a current of fire.
The Wargoth went sailing towards Sygvar. It lashed out its tentacles at the Master Al’Manti.
Sygvar’s blade ignited in flames, and it blurred, severing the Wargoth’s tentacles.
Draven came up from behind, stepping on telekinetic steps. He then rocketed downwards onto the Wargoth with a jet of flames. He concentrated, his flames burning hotter and hotter. Eventually ultimately shifting from their reddish yellow hue to a bright blue. His blade cracked the bone exoskeleton around the Wargoth’s skull, bathing the creature’s brain in blue flames.
The creature thrashed about in pain, then went still.
“Draven, go get the data!”
“On it,” Draven said as he sprinted to the console. He took out a cable from the back of the neck of his exosuit and plugged it into the console. “Ari download all the data from the storage.”
File after file zipped past Draven’s hud for his exosuit. The download only took a second to finish.
“I’m done, but the data must be decrypted,” Ari said.
“That’s fine,” Draven then unplug the cable leading from his suit to the console. He then ran over to his master, “All done.”
“Good,” Sygvar picked Draven up and then took to the sky with his wings. Above the increasing number of Hollows, Sygvar sped towards the exit. The hollows raged as they chased after the air-born duo. Quickly they exited the base, landing on Tywen’s back.
“Take to the sky, quickly!” Sygvar yelled as he set Draven down.
Tywen beat his wings, and they rapidly ascended. Soon after they left the ground, hollows poured out of the El’Dresi base. They swarmed the area they had just been. Then an explosion destroyed the hill the base was built into and the flora around it.
Draven opened his status and instantly dumped nine path points into his path.

2023.06.06 03:54 SupertoastGT Why are PS5 versions of multiplatform games outperforming Series X versions? (Long post!)

First I want to start by saying I'm not a fanboy and I'm not here to start anything. I apologize in advance if I do. You know how people are. I own and love my Series X and my PS5. I've just been really curious about this for a long time. It's always baffled me. I've googled it to inconclusive results.
The Series X has a faster version of the PS5's CPU, significantly higher memory bandwidth, (at least for 10GB of it's RAM), 52 compute units @12Tflops vs the PS5's 400MHz faster 36 compute units @10Tflops. The PS5's faster SSD being the PS5's only major advantage, though that doesn't directly affect rendering fps most of the time.
I know that teraflops aren't everything, but the Series X specs for nearly everything should beat the PS5, but we see roughly 75% of multiplatform games running significantly better on PS5. Hogwarts Legacy for example, is a nearly unplayable STUTTERFEST on Series X, but it runs flawlessly on PS5.
The excuse for Series X early on was the poor GDK/devkits, but it's been a few years now and the metric hasn't changed. Another excuse was that Microsoft isn't just purely focused on the consoles as their ecosystem spans across Windows and Xbox, but smaller companies manage multiple devices just fine performance wise. Look at Nintendo before the Switch. I doubt I'll get a 100% concrete answer here, but it's worth a shot.
TLDR: Why is the PS5 outperforming Series X in the vast majority of multiplats while having lower specs?

2023.06.06 03:53 MinecraftOctopus Advice? (This is sort of random but I'm not sure where else to ask)

I'm really interested in folklore/the relationship between human culture and how it presents itself in our stories/myths. I'd love to either minor or major in a subject related to this in college.
I've been trying to find something that would allow me to express this interest to colleges, but unlike other fields, there isn't really an internship or a summer camp or a competition.
I live in a town with a university in it, that also happens to have a folklore/mythology/anthropology, which I suppose could have something?
Basically, I'm looking for any advice on what activities I could do in relation to this. I'm not really into making clubs, and wouldn't want to start another club at my school (it already has well over 200 clubs and I feel that would be a waste of time).
Has anybody here wanted to study something similar? Do you have any advice towards activities I could try to do? I've thought about reaching out to professors at the Uni near me, but what exactly would I do? I can't really provide any great help, as a 16 year old with no experience, and it's not like they have labs I can work in over a summer.
Thank you everyone :)

2023.06.06 03:53 Top_Number_4284 Would you pay $55,007.00 for a Venza?

It was a stressful day as I texted and emailed back and forth with a Chicagoland Toyota dealer today. They had a limited with stargaze in the exact color combination I’d like to buy. But with a nearly $4k market adjustment and another nearly $4k list of port and factory installed “options” (that were not optional), I had to 🙅🏻‍♀️ say no and let it go. They told me someone was coming in at 5pm to see this Venza so I had to decide quickly. Maybe that was for the best as it had the opposite effect on me of what was probably expected. But it’s disheartening to say the least.

2023.06.06 03:53 howmanyLsinllllllama My experience with ISHA health

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my experience with Ketamine treatments through ISHA Health. I would like to state that I have not been compensated for any of my comments and this is purely my opinion to help others decide, as I know what it's like to feel lost among all these at-home Ketamine companies.
As a reminder, all my opinions about other companies is of Jan. 2023, and my opinion of ISHA Health is of June 2023. Since then, all of these companies may have changed pricing, policies, or availabilities when you're reading this. Confirm with them for the most accurate info!
Back in Dec 2022, I was exploring ketamine therapy more seriously and was researching companies online to find the best one for me. I could not use anti-depressants as my career field does not permit them, so my only real medication option was Ketamine, and keeping it on the very down low (i.e. this is why I'm writing on a throwaway account).
Now I was in a really tricky situation as I am a poor college student. IV infusions were out of the question as they were thousands of dollars, and the closest town that had a clinic was 2 hours away; Aside from all that - I had no friends in person, especially ones that would be driving me twice a week for 4 weeks. So now I needed to find a company that was providing services for at-home treatment.
I was on this reddit thread for days, and I've heard of everyone and everything. Dr. Smith or whoever was a very popular option among fellow redditors, but his availability was so non-existent that the soonest appointment was a month and a half out. I was going through a heavy depressive episode post-first break up, so waiting a month and a half was out of the question. Furthermore, it just seemed too sketchy for me to go with him. He just seemed like he provided services just to give out scripts, at least that's the vibe I got from Reddit and his website.
Other companies I was considering was MindBloom, until I found out they wanted you to video call a counselor the first two times (something like that), AND have a trip sitter present. That seemed way too controlling for me, and I wanted to have more freedom. Having to video call someone from the company meant I was on their availability, and my only availability was post 7pm every day. That did not work out.
Then I found Better U, and they had an option for 8 sessions for a little over $1000. I spoke to a representative and he gave me a $100 discount and stated that I get 9 troche's, one extra to make sure my dose is right. Everything seemed great and I was about to go with them until I discovered ISHA Health. At first, I was avoiding a monthly type plan, but I realized that even two months of ISHA Health, was cheaper at around $800, then doing just one month through Better U. I also found out ISHA Health offered a FREE consult, with their only doctor so far (and CEO I believe) - Dr. Shimada. It was a whopping 40 minute long session. Not only did I feel not obligated to commit to anything, but I had so much free time for Dr. Shimada to reassure me and explain the process. I love to ask questions, and had a lot of hesitations going towards the psychedelics world as my family grew up anti-drugs. The 40 minutes was longer than anything I even get with my PCP, and it was perfect. At the end of the consult it was a no brainer to go with that company.
Also, to my recollection ISHA Health was the only company with a free consult. All the other companies wanted you to pay the full fee, then you get a partial reimbursement if you change your mind. Again, way too shady for me. I don't have the money to blow and mess around like that.
The consult availability was an impressive 2-3 days in advance, and from consult to first Ketamine session was only two weeks (this was due to the compound's pharmacy's slow prep time. Dr. Shimada sent off the script same day as my consult). I received 10 troches, a few extra as Dr. Shimada wanted me to slowly ease into treatment to make sure my body didn't have a negative reaction. Also, ISHA Health offers unlimited free 15 min check ins with Dr. Shimada, with availability being most of the weekdays (as of April 2023). I met with her nearly every week, at times even twice a week as I needed help navigating my treatment. I had Ketamine sessions that felt like nothing happened, and I had sessions that were life changing. We also spent a few weeks adjusting the dosage for me, eventually settling on mainly 150mg, and 200mg when needed for a more deeper experience (although a couple hours longer recovery). Dr. Shimada was also very quick on email replies. This honestly felt like the gold standard of telehealth care, you can't get better with that.
I ended up doing two months of treatment, because for me it took a whole month to discover my perfect dose, mindset, fasting procedure, etc. After all that, I could actually focus on my healing with the second month. I am currently finishing up treatment and have been tapering off per Dr. Shimada's instructions which has been going very well. I plan to be fully done by July. Even though it has been more than two months, Dr. Shimada still met with me outside what I paid for, as she understood I was a college student and gave me some leeway. I can happily say that the Ketamine has 100% cured my depression, and helped me deal with my break up at an extraordinary rate. I have nothing but positive opinions regarding ISHA Health, and Dr. Shimada. I couldn't be more thankful for her and her team for assisting me on this journey and being so incredibly flexible and understanding.
I decided to write about this because very little existed on ISHA Health back in January 2023, and that was understandable as it was a very new start up. I am not sure how busy they are now, but for the price point and the service, this is a no-brainer in choosing the company you want to go through.
----
TLDR:
This is the best company in terms of service and price. I have zero regrets going with them. You will not be disappointed in their service.
-----
I do have to mention that my experience with Ketamine is and was unique, and it is for each person. Some may need a higher, or a lower dose. Some can only do a month, while others needs multiple months. And for some, Ketamine may not even work. So for specifically the Ketamine experience aspect, please set your expectations accordingly. Completing a consultation with a doctor will be the be best way you can visualize your treatment plan and see if this is for you.

2023.06.06 03:52 EzekielWinters The Liberator Ch 3

2023.06.06 03:52 reagantrex 25 [M4F] Orlando, Florida - Friends or Something More

Hello everyone! I got over my skepticism and decided to post because you never know.
I’m brazilian living in US. I do speak Portuguese and was raised there until 17y.o.
I enjoy talking, flirting, banter, and I’d say I’m witty. But I also enjoy and actively engage in deep conversations. Keeping the conversation flowing has never been difficult to me.
I love music and nearly every genre, EDM is my favorite but trust me I love to listen to so much I couldn’t even list them all.
My main interest atm are chess, videogames, anime, boxing, and the gym. I am often fascinated when shown new things so please do tell me about your passions and hobbies. Other smaller hobbies include: roller skating, long boarding, swimming, reading, singing, piano. I like a lot of things.
My looks: I have hazel eyes, brown medium curly hair with shaved sides, kept beard & thick eyebrows, 6ft, big build, 3 tattoos, and I can’t not sound conceited when I say this but everyone I know agrees I’m fairly attractive.
Requirements: no strongly religious individuals. I respect your religion but we won’t get along very well. It’s fine if you enjoy practicing though as long as you’re not expecting that as something we’ll have in common.
Friends: I’d like to clarify that for friends I don’t care about your gender, age, or what you look like.
Something more: around my age, slightly younger, or quite older is fine. I just need a certain level of mindset and maturity. As far as looks go, I am only interested in your character and don’t have a preference on how you look - skinny, average, chubby, tall, short, hairstyle, ethnicity, etc, it does not matter. If you have a good head on your shoulders and can entertain a conversation you’re good to go.
Can you tell I like talking? Haha

2023.06.06 03:50 catladyadr Extremely disappointed with Gobble

I used to order from Gobble often. As a vegetarian they often had unique meals. After a few months I started missing entire meals out of my box which is a problem I've never run into with any other kit and I've used pretty much all of them. The quality started going downhill too, I started getting slimy rotten produce which is another issue I rarely run into with anyone else. Then they raised their prices to the point where I could go to a nice restaurant vs cooking a meal kit. The menu also sucks lately. $33 a meal and my choices are 2 lasagna rolls or a single portobello mushroom? I decided to give them another try this week because there were a couple things that sound good and it's my wedding anniversary... Came home after my 14 hour shift to find only one meal in my box and it's not the one I was looking forward to. I just emailed them asking for a refund and they gave me a credit but I'm canceling my account. I just want my money back.
Is anyone else having issues with them or is it just me?

2023.06.06 03:50 Plus_Distribution517 AITA for wanting an ex-partner to be accountable for their abuse?

TW sexual assault, interpersonal violence**
I spent nearly 2 years of my life with a man who subjected me to unspeakably cruel emotional and physical abuse. I stayed. I believed him when he said it was my fault. He is powerful, professionally speaking. It thrills him. I admire his work ethic. I admire his confidence. He is one of the smartest people I have ever met. I believe that anyone who knows him, except the few of us who have lived it, would never believe that he has the capacity to intentionally harm his intimate partners in order to dominate and control them. He is a democrat. He never hit me. I have no evidence.
The first time that he held me down during an argument, pinning me to his couch by my ankles so I could “calm down,” was 12 months before I moved into his home. When he apologized I told him I loved him. I knew long before the first time he pounded on my front door at 2:00 AM screaming “you better let me in” with such force it shook my windows that his former partner had written accounts detailing how he subjected her to physical and sexual violence. I’m embarrassed, mortified really, that I believed his explanation of these events. 10 months before he forced me to have sex with him while I showered as his entire immediate family ate breakfast downstairs, the sex become so rough and so violent that I would often urinate blood after. When my doctor asked me if I was experiencing violence, I said no. She told me she’d be in her office if I decided I wanted to talk to her once I dressed. I know I’m not the only woman who knows what the phrase “I’m sorry you had sex you didn’t want to have” sounds like coming out of his mouth.
It’s been months since he decided to end things and I while I am so ashamed that I spent the last few months begging and pleading to him that I could “be better,” I know (academically) that the psychological warfare he inflicted made it impossible for me to regulate my own emotions. It doesn’t make it any less embarrassing though. My desire to share my story, publicly- or even privately to mutual friends does not come from a desire to ruin his life or his career or the careers of the powerful people in our community/state who hire him. I feel I have an obligation to protect other women, and I’m so afraid that as he becomes more powerful the tactics he will employ to dominate and control his partners by any means necessary will only become more severe and more dangerous.
AITA?

2023.06.06 03:48 PrinceJustice237 Maybe if we started looking at what's the same instead of always looking at what's different ...

(I’m just gonna post all my Christianity-related posts here even if they’re not related to queerness, simply because I feel safer here than on the general Christianity sub, if you don’t mind).
My best friend, “Ana”, is a Muslim, and she’s known I’m queer and Christian since we first became friends. We’ve been friends since we were kids and have stayed that way for nearly 8 years, and she’s always loved and accepted me as I am.
One of my favourite worship songs that we sing in church sometimes is My Lighthouse, which isn’t a traditional hymn but a song from the Christian folk rock band Rend Collective, released within the last decade. It’s all about how God and His love is our lighthouse guiding us through the dark stormy nights to the safe peaceful shore.
A couple months ago I sent it to Ana and she loved it - she said it was adorable and catchy and loved the metaphor of God to a lighthouse, and also loved that there are people that still believe in this world.
And it got me thinking about that quote from - of all places - Team Rocket’s Meowth from the first Pokémon movie: “We do have a lot in common, the same earth, the same air, the same sky. Maybe if we started looking at what's the same instead of always looking at what's different ... well who knows?”
I think that we as Christians, as religious people, as people, can really learn a lot from that.
