2023.06.03 10:22 SteveNZPhysio Cluster Headache side-of-face pain: I think I've found a further specific cause, with a solution.
Hi. A week ago I put up my first post on
clusterheads. It was removed by the moderators. I really do not understand why. I have politely messaged the mods three times but haven't received a reply, so I’m putting it up again.
Don’t know if it’ll last as I don’t know why the other one was removed. If the mods could reply to me here, that would be appreciated. And also, you know, serve to advance transparency and free speech, as well as simple politeness.
I had my first bout of CH 16 months ago - full one-side-of-face extreme pain in a full trigeminal nerve distribution, drooping eyelid and dribbling eye and sinus; diagnosed as CH at the hospital ED. The usual 10 minute foreshadowing, then three hours of extreme pain, a few times a day, daily for several weeks. Not a lot of fun, as you know.
I’m also a New Zealand physiotherapist with 30 years of experience in treating spines and nerve compression problems. I lecture on these to the doctors at various medical conferences. The drugs weren’t helping and I was desperate to find something that worked so I took that expertise and used it.
With the Professor of Anatomy at my local medical school I went back to the actual human dissections to track the path of the trigeminal nerve. This is the one that carries all that extreme side-of-face pain. It splits into three inside your skull and the three branches of it supply your temple area, cheekbone / behind the eye area, and jaw / teeth / cheek area.
The real thing in a dissected human cadaver is different from just looking at 2D images on the net or in textbooks - these often leave out a surprising amount of detail. There is a nerve pathway of one part of the mandibular nerve, which is the lowest branch of the trigeminal nerve. It squeezes through an obvious pinch point in the lateral pterygoid jaw muscle, and then supplies not just the jaw, cheek, behind the eye, and cheekbone areas but also the temple area.
This is unequivocal. It’s there in every human - it’s just like looking at a bit of electrical wiring.
So pinching the nerve through this jaw muscle could possibly produce extreme referred pain to all the three areas of trigeminal neuralgia and CH - the temple, cheekbone and jaw areas. In exactly the same way as pressure on the trigeminal nerve trunk inside the brain can produce extreme referred pain at these same three areas. That’s why they do brain surgery in there to decompress it.
The difference is that if the nerve impingement is happening through this specific jaw muscle, then it’s an easy thing to treat and decompress. I’m an expert at doing that in other areas of the body. I’d never done it for CH because I’d never had CH before!
I didn’t know if it’d work but I was desperate and it was worth trying. I treated the muscle for three weeks and during that time my CH tapered off to nothing, in exact ratio to the muscle freeing up. I’m still pain free 16 months later.
Yes, of course I know CH do go into remission. But there were several indicators that it was not just coincidence, but simply responding to my treatment - exactly as I’d expect any other nerve compression problem elsewhere in the body to do. I’ve been treating them for 30 years.
I’ve discussed these indicators at length in a YouTube video I’ve just put up explaining and showing what I did.
Note - I am NOT saying this is the miracle cure for all CH. What I am saying is that it looks like CH and TN referred pain could possibly be triggered either by the accepted route of pressure on the trigeminal nerve inside the skull, OR by pressure on just the lowest branch of the trigeminal nerve where it squeezes through this specific jaw muscle. (Or possibly both.)
If - and only if - it’s the latter, then it’s a readily fixable problem not requiring surgery which anyone can do for themself at home. It’s only self massage and stretching to loosen a specific tight scarred jaw muscle. I’ve shown how to do it in the video.
I really do not know why my post was removed. I’d thought it would be of interest to anyone with CH or TN. Having had CH myself, I was trying to help. If my post gets disappeared again without explanation, I’m out of here.

2023.06.03 08:44 JohnnyBlack22 Tips for 200k
| I few days ago, I posted asking for advice on how to break 200k without Polaris. I didn't get many responses, so I kept at it myself. Well... I did it! I got 209k with Bardur. https://preview.redd.it/j0ikvpulxq3b1.png?width=592&format=png&auto=webp&s=a4ea56ab8bb0836e5da7f478403cfacd99c2e28d Bardur + Quez The strategy I used here was to set the tribes to BarduQuez only. I research meditation on turn 1, and then get alter of peace on turn 6. Because the defender's can't really do anything, your warriors can run around and explore, and they won't die (usually). Trees. Forest temples are far more efficient than other temples, as far as points/star. With only Bardur and Quez, the entire map is covered with trees. You don't want to take an Omaji city and get a bunch of fields. Early forest temples essential for attaining astronomical scores. Diplomacy It's no secret that diplomacy is the key which unlocks 200k, but how exactly? First, offer peace with every single tribe. It doesn't matter who accepts, play around whoever does. Second, go diplomacy immediately after philosophy and start placing embassies in every capital, starting with the least likely embassies to be destroyed. One thing Quez bots will do is walk next to someone else's capital with their defender and stand there ( menacingly!). This is amazing for embassy chaining. In most games, there is one, maybe two turns where there's a foreign unit inside a bot's starting square. With Quez, a defender could be standing there for 5 turns. Playing against Quez drastically increases the chance of chaining embassies. Use alter of peace to level your capital, and get a Giant out asap. The bots will think you're "weak," and will be unlikely to accept your peace treaties, until you get a giant out. After that, many will accept. The bots are also kind of smart with diplomacy. Let's say I walk next to two units, pink and orange, both of which I can kill. We are closer to Pink's capital. Kill the orange one, then offer peace to pink, and they will often accept, even before you have a giant. Breaking Peace You're getting 8 stars/turn from your allies, so there's no rush to break peace. If it gets to be turn 20-21, and your only remaining allies have a single city, just leave them alone and get alter of peace between 21-26 (if you didn't get it at the start). Mindbenders are great for breaking peace. Run them next to the enemy border, and next to any straggling giants. Giants will almost always move towards your cities, so spawn a mindbender in each city with a giant 1 square away, and you can almost certainly convert the giant net turn. Knights are also great. Knights allow you to break peace, then run through an entire line of catapults before they can attack. This makes the war for those final cities a slaughter, instead of a two-sided blood bath, saving you many unit points, and often capturing the city on the first turn, maybe the second. Other Tech Whenever possible, siege and then place a mindbender next to the city. This way, if they giant push you off, you can just convert the giant and resiege, without losing tempo. Often, if you don't do this, a giant push can be a 2-3 turn ordeal. Cloaks are great because the refund 4-8 stars when they attack the city. They're quick, effective, and cheap. Use them heavily in the midgame. Pretty much never spawn more than 2-3 giants. Occasionally, you have to giant to prevent an awkward city from getting sieged (I did that in the 209k game), but giants are expensive. A park is 250 points: 50 stars worth of points. You could literally make 2 catapults, 2 knights, and 2 cloaks, instead of your giant, and you're still coming out 2 stars ahead. Ships are also expensive. Sometimes, they're necessary, but 20 stars is a lot. You'd much rather use catapults for 8 stars than battleships for 20 stars. This, again, is another reason to use cloaks. They're extremely cheap, at 8 stars, some of which you get back, but still quick and effective. When you're on a 200k pace, every single field tile will have a temple in it (or maybe a forge). Another benefit to BardeQuez is you don't have to destroy 15 farms in order to make this happen. Every deep water, and most shallow water, will have water temples, and of course every non metal mountain will have a mountain temple. Keep that in mind as you play - you are going to max out the board, and also need to spawn 20 knights at the end. Maybe Obvious, But Worth Mentioning Destroy every lumber hut, and build a forest temple on that square. Watch out for allies standing on them; there's a bug right now where you can't destroy if an ally is standing on the square. Forest temples come first, and only make water temples once you've maxed out your forests. Build as many temples on turn 18 as you can. If you're missing custom's houses, temple on turn 18, then finish of your custom's houses on turn 19. You can also temple before turn 18 if it levels a city for the extra staturn, if you're really crushing it with econ. When to Reset Some quick benchmarks: 20 stars/turn on turn 7. 30 stars/turn on turn 8. 50 stars/turn on turn 9. Tech tree finished by turn 11. You can get far more economy than this, but as long as you have forests, you can hit 200k with just these goals. If it's turn 8, and none of the bots have accepted your treaties, and you haven't gotten any freebie cities, and you're at 21 stars per turn, you're on pace for a ~160k, so play it out if that's your goal, but reset if you're gunning for 200. In the mid/lategame, if one of your allies gets 3-4 cities, it's probably over. It's going to be too cumbersome and expensive to wade through their wall of swordsman and giants. You can try, but you'll probably end up stonewalled, maybe not even completing alter of peace at the end of the game. It can turn a nutty game back into a 150-160k. Lastly, don't hesitate to reset on turns 1-5. If you explorer on 0 and it goes the wrong way, just reset (explorer on 0 you should always get meditation on 0). If you workshop, and then the map doesn't work out so you can explore, just reset. If you're gunning for 200k, you need to get a bit lucky. Cheesy captures where capitals are free for no reason. A random early bot accepting your treaty, or establishing an embassy. Stuff like that. Note that this game, I had no whales in my capital, and only a 2-spot custom's house in my capital, and was still able to get 209k, so there's no need to reset purely off that; you can get lucky in other ways. Hopefully this helps people break the 200k barrier! I love perfection. submitted by JohnnyBlack22 to Polytopia [link] [comments] |
2023.06.03 08:35 amaross Critique my investment approach
Hi there! I will be graduating soon and the weight of adulting responsibilities has dawned upon me. As such, I'd love to crowdsource advice on how to manage my finances.
My objective is to achieve 8% - 10% annual returns with a 20Y-30Y horizon.
Present net-worth allocation:
- 50% in FD earning 4%
- 40% in investments
- 10% in cash
Additionally, my job will provide me about 7k+/mth excluding employer's CPF. Given my own spending habits, I intend to allocate 70% towards my investment portfolio, 15% towards savings, and 15% towards spending.
Given my long horizon and also a rather okay appetite for risk, my current investment strategy is to:
- Wheel SPY to collect on option premium and benefit from IBKR interest rates - 80% of investment portfolio
- Stock-pick (concentrate on a few stocks primarily, high risk with majority of valuation in future cash flows) - 20% of investment portfolio
Additionally, once I start working, I'd look towards creating an account with high interest for cash holdings e.g. SCB Bonu$aver, UOB One.
These are my current concerns:
Savings-related
- How much should I set aside for rainy-day funds? I am relatively healthy with life insurance but no income protection insurance.
- Are there any other bank accounts with high interest/benefits that I might've overlooked?
Investments-related
- I understand that SPY has a higher dividend withholding tax rate of 30% vs. CSPX of 15%. In view of this would you consider my existing strategy to be less efficient?
- Is my existing investment strategy sound/too idealistic? Or are there any red flags you'd like to sound off that I might've overlooked?
- What other investment strategies would you point toward assuming I have the financial literacy to attempt and comprehend?
Thanks so much!

2023.06.03 06:49 rockaleta2049 I'm graduating college and I feel useless
I just finished my last semester. My family is coming to visit and celebrate my graduation. I'm torn about looking for full-time employment at the moment, because it'll take away time that I could spend with my family once they're here, but being unemployed makes me feel useless.
My friends gave me a lot of shit for being the only one without a part-time job while we were still in school. I guess that contributes to my feelings of inadequacy, now that I have all the time in the world.
I've thought about setting up a Fiverr profile to sell motion graphics, but the thought of someone complaining about my work being subpar makes it very daunting.
It also seems that since classes ended I've been forgotten about by just about 90% of all people I met in college. Sitting alone in my room on a friday night, looking at other peoples Instagram stories is also not doing me any favors.
So here I am, broke as shit, no plans for the weekend other than helping a buddy build his PC. I don't date, I don't get invited to parties, I don't work. Every passing day I feel the pressure of time slipping by, of being single, of being unemployed.
I hope this shit passes and I can enjoy the rest of my twenties, but at the present moment life looks like a mountain that I'm ill-equipped to tackle. My only safety net is my mother, who lets me leech off her.

2023.06.03 04:31 fluroshoes Lots of issues, including sugar addiction
Hi there 👋
I've (27F) been dealing with longterm chronic and sever pelvic pain and near constant bleeding (usually 90-98% of the days of the year). Not heavy most days, but always there.
I recently had my 4th laparoscopy (keyhole surgery) where I had endo removed, botox into my pelvic floor (for nerve pain), a D+C, and 2x Mirenas inserted (1x uterus, 2x mirenas, yes that's correct). This my my 4th time on a mirena, they reduce my pain and bleeding, but it's never stopped them completely so I'm a special egg who gets 2 of them to try this time).
Anyway, I have horrible mood swings currently (which isn't as depressy as when I was on Zoladex) but I just feel like craaaaaap because of the 2x mirenas worth of progesterone PLUS thr fact I am 6-weeks post my 6-month run on Zoladex so I am also all oestrogen-ed up for the first time in half a year.
...all I want to do is eat my weight in icecream and cake and I am miserable/no apetite at the thought of eating literally anything else.
I have been making myself eat proper meals and vegetables, but how- HOW can I get over these cravings? I know you can give in once in a while, but my itch is never scratched. I just end up eating sweets til I feel so full I'm sick and then it's like my body resets the next day and all I want is MORE SWEETS.
How do you drive away your cravings when your hormones are running the show??? Any advice would be greatly welcome 🙏
(I am sitting at my desk at work only wanting icecream and to sleep for 17 years, with my head literally on my desk, I am not a functioning adult at all today)

2023.06.03 04:14 surfaholic15 FRIDAY At the LCS And Random Shit
Helena MT on a 60 degree rainy day, and my silver!
https://imgur.com/a/gN9VGMR It has been a while, life went sideways lol. ANYWHO, the guys at the LCS were happy to see us. An old guy was selling some fractional gold to pay bills. They are paying over spot for everything these days. Basically for most things if they are charging 5 over spot they are paying 1-3 over spot. Numismatics are a whole different issue of course. They are getting almost no 90 percent, people are selling oddball rounds and bars and some numismatics.
Current prices, generic rounds and ounce bars are 5.00 over spot, going as low as 1.50 over spot if you buy the big stuff like the newest COMEX bar or generic kilo pieces.
Older ugly ASEs are 8-10 over spot, they are not ordering new ones unless a customer wants them. Maples, phils, Perth, brits etc run 6-8 over spot.
90 percent 24x fv, 40 per 12x fv. This may change. The cull Morgans and peace are still 30, but no nice ones today. They were light on everything.
Those bars made me happy, both hubby and I are Aquarians so I take that as a SIGN! And I like the other two. Especially that JM round :-).
They are expanding their hours, now open until 6 during the week and half of saturday!!
In other random news, gas is 3.64 regular, 4.09 diesel. Red dye diesel is cheaper than regular gas!! This is really getting sketchy.
LARGE EGGS AT WALMART ARE 10 CENTS PER EGG!! Yes we stocked up lol. No cases, 18 packs. There is a conspicuous absence of rainbows and a conspicuous over abundance of certain beer products at Walmart.
We went to Costco too. It was quite interesting to see what was missing, like all the reasonably priced meats. All the cheap foods. Lots of folks shopping only the sales and coupons.
This is the new normal everywhere, it is getting far harder to actually get sale products and winco is talking about putting limits on more sale items. Nobody is happy if you ask for a rain check either.
The thrift shops Don't have any stuff worth getting. Not many yard sales yet either. Finding work clothes to destroy is getting tough lol.

2023.06.03 04:01 Massive_Level_7127 Bluetooth Bone Conduction Headphones’ Side Effect and How Do They Work?
| Bluetooth bone conduction headphones are becoming more and more popular among sports enthusiasts. Driven by them, more and more people are interested in this new type of headphones. To help you better understand them, here are some facts about this type of headphones. - Bluetooth bone conduction headphones are new headphones developed using bone conduction technology, which transmits sound through bones;
- They do not cover the ears, nor do they need to be inserted into the ears;
- They will not damage the ears, they are the healthiest headphones for the ears. Because their sound transmission does not require the use of the eardrum, damage to the eardrum and auditory hair cells is minimal.
- Bluetooth bone conduction headphones are not noise-canceling headphones. They don't sound as perfect as traditional noise-canceling headphones. But if you're using them for normal music listening, their sound quality is perfectly fine.
- Bone conduction is a mature technology, bone conduction headphone is a new application of this mature technology, and you can use it with confidence;
- Bluetooth bone conduction headphones are not headphones with external speakers. It relies on the vibration unit to generate mechanical vibrations, and the sound is transmitted to the inner ear to make people hear the sound.
7 . Bluetooth bone conduction headphones generally have better waterproof performance. Their sound generation and sound transmission methods make them not need to reserve holes in the fuselage, and the entire headphone can be integrated. - They will have a slight sound leakage problem. But some better products handle sound leakage better.
What are the side effects of bone conduction headphones? Many people think that Bluetooth bone conduction headphones have side effects. Some people think that they are harmful to the body because they vibrates the bones to hear the sound which will affect the brain. However, this statement is not accurate. The side effects of bone conduction are very low. The following will clarify the rumors about the side effects of bone conduction one by one. Side Effects of Bluetooth bone conduction headphones 1: Hearing Damage? rumor! Bluetooth bone conduction headphones are the most hearing-protective of all headphones. Because the way of bone conduction transmits sound does not need to pass through the eardrum, which can avoid damage to the eardrum. And its vibration waves are very gentle, and the impact on the cochlea is relatively small. Side effects of Bluetooth bone conduction headphones 2: damage the brain? rumor! Some people think that the electromagnetic waves of Bluetooth bone conduction headphones will cause damage to the brain nerves. Of course, any electronic product has problems with electromagnetic waves, and strong electromagnetic waves will indeed cause damage to the brain nerves. However, the electromagnetic waves of Bluetooth bone conduction headphones are extremely weak and have the same strength as the electromagnetic waves existing in nature. So it will not cause damage to human brain nerves and hearing nerves. Side effects of bone conduction earphones 3: Pain after wearing for a long time? Inaccurate! It is indeed uncomfortable to wear Bluetooth bone conduction headphones for a long time. Long-term wearing here means that the sound unit is attached to the temple and worn for more than 3-4 hours. Usually, there will be no problem wearing it for less than 2 hours. Because even traditional over-ear headphones can be uncomfortable to wear for hours on end. In addition, some people mentioned that wearing Bluetooth bone conduction headphones for a long time, caused pain in the temples. This situation has a lot to do with the individual's physique - it is the individual's physique that causes trigeminal neuralgia. Therefore, we can know that the side effects of Bluetooth bone conduction headphones are very low. It is a very healthy headphone. In addition to being very healthy, Bluetooth bone conduction headphones have many advantages, such as safety, comfort, high waterproof level, etc. These advantages determined by their working principles How do Bluetooth bone conduction headphones work? The propagation medium of sound includes solid, liquid, and air. In general, there are two ways for sound waves to enter the inner ear of the human body: air conduction and bone conduction. It then travels to the inner ear via the auditory ossicles. Bone conduction is the vibration of sound waves through the bones of the head such as the skull and jaw, which transmits the sound to the inner ear. It is another very important hearing method besides air transmission. People use this method to manufacture many bone conduction hearing devices. Traditional headphones mainly transmit sound through the air, while Bluetooth bone conduction headphones use the temporal bone of the head to transmit sound. It transmits sound directly to the auditory nerve in the form of sound waves, instead of passing through the air to the eardrum and then to our auditory nerve. Currently, bone conduction hearing devices mainly include electromagnetic Bluetooth bone conduction headphones and piezoelectric bone conduction headphones. Electromagnetic Bluetooth bone conduction headphones have better working performance, but they have electromagnetic radiation, which is easy to cause harm to the user's body. Piezoelectric Bluetooth bone conduction headphones use piezoelectric vibrators as sounding components. When people wear it the human body is less affected by electromagnetic radiation which also has the advantages of small size and low power consumption. If you are interested in them, please do not hesitate to buy them. They are definitely worth buying.Next, I will recommend some excellent bone conduction headphones. 1, Wissonly Hi Runner bone conduction headphones Recommended reason: Wissonly Bluetooth bone conduction headphones are the first brand I started to contact. When they recommended it on the online crowdfunding platform, I noticed it, after saw that many people were recommending, and I bought it. This Hi runner I used for a few months, and the overall performance was better than I expected. Some Bluetooth bone conduction headphones leak sound, and you know that I take privacy very seriously, so I'm very concerned about anti-sound-leakage technology. Wissonly Hi Runner does a very good job in the field. Its body is sealed, and through structural optimization and algorithm adjustment, its sound leakage is minimized. The official claim they can eliminate 90% of sound leakage. I do not have professional equipment to test, but I have tried and found that at 60%-70% volume, the sound is completely inaudible at a distance of 1.5 meters, which makes me very satisfied. I have actually compared it with other bone conduction headphones, and the Wissonly Hi Runner has currently the best sound leakage reduction solution in bone conduction headphones. The Wissonly Hi Runner is also particularly comfortable in the wearing experience. Because the material of the whole machine is high-tech hypoallergenic silicone, and it is coupled with the ergonomic design that conforms to the structure of the human ear, so that users will not bring any burden to the ear under long-term wear. Sound quality as the core performance is undoubtedly worth mentioning. Wissonly Hi Runner uses a large-sized vibration unit, the sound range is wider, the sound is more three-dimensional and deeper, so the sound quality is undoubtedly very good. And it is also equipped with a Bluetooth 5.0 chip, the connection is more stable. And it will not be disconnected when used, which is a good experience. The Wissonly Hi Runner also comes with 32GB of built-in storage that can store 5,000 songs, so you can use it completely as an MP3 player to enjoy music without your phone when you go out for a run. 2.Philips 7607 bone conduction headphones Recommended reason Its sounding unit adopt a large-size vibrator of 17mm, which makes it have the effect of high, medium and low triple-frequency balance in sound quality performance. The low-frequency dive is sufficient, the medium and high frequencies are clear and not harsh, but there will be some missing sounds. It is also equipped with an intimate LED night run lamp at the rear end of the body, which can turn on the LED by turning on the key three times in a row. It also has three modes, which is suitable for wearing at night, so that people around it can perceive their own position and ensure their own safety factor to a certain extent. Its IPX6 waterproof rating is not afraid of sweat in daily wear. 3.AfterShokz OpenSwim bone conduction headphones Recommended reason: The body of the headphone is made of skin-friendly silicone, and its light body is only weighs 36g. It has ergonomic structure of the ear design, no matter running, jumping, wearing glasses without pressure, more intimate details. The waterproof performance of OpenSwim reaches IP68 level, which is suitable for swimmers. A long strip structure design is adopted at the sound generating part, so that the loudspeaker has a larger surface area and higher sound transmission efficiency. With its own 4G memory, it can use as a mp3 player. Its battery life reach 8 hours, no matter about long time using. But this headphones does not support Bluetooth and calling functions. 4.earsopen PEACE TW-1 bone conduction headphones Recommended reason: The earsopen PEACE TW-1 headphones can be charged magnetically through the charging case, which is small and convenient to carry around. The headphone shape adopts separate design that is achieved for the first time in the bone conduction industry. The headphone body is a T-shaped design, that adopts the clip-on wearing method. At the same time, it also supports IPX7 waterproof performance. When traveling on rainy days or running to burn fat, there is no need to fear sweat and rain erosion, it can be used with peace of mind. The T-shaped structure design of earsopen PEACE TW-1 adopts the form of wearing behind the ear with curved support frame. It is more comfortable when worn. But because of the wearing method, the pinna will be a little uncomfortable after wearing for a long time. The sound quality is average, and there is a little sound leakage. But as an innovative style in the bone conduction category, it is also worth considering. 5.Nank Runner CC3 bone conduction headphones Recommended reason: Runner CC2 has a solid button area on the outside, which is very convenient to use. The surface of the headphone body is made of soft material, which makes it very comfortable to be attached to the ear. It is really stable to wear with the ear-hanging scheme, supports Bluetooth 5.0, and the earphone signal is very stable during use. The sound quality is quite satisfactory, and the sense of music rhythm and space is well controlled. Among the above five products, Wissonly and Aftershokz are my favorite. Their sound quality, sound leakage reduction and comfort are all very good. Compared with the two brands,Wissonly' product parameters are better, cost-effective, and worth buying submitted by Massive_Level_7127 to HeyNewGadget [link] [comments] |

My fiance lashed out hard earlier and really hurt my feelings but after taking time for both of us to calm down, he apologized. It was heartfelt and sincere and he acknowledged his misplaced anger and addressed how to fix it in the future.
A lot of us post about the frustrations and the difficulties associated with having a bipolar SO but I want to post something good.
I've never been loved the way I'm loved by my partner and I see him work every single day to be better. Maybe it's hard but it's worth it.

You technically have 3 years of a safety net for parts, which is decent for a monitor, but the one year of labor is very limiting. If you didn't know, repairing monitors can cost you a lot, even near to the original price of the monitor you bought if not more. So if you get it repaired, you still have to pay for labor, which a lot of service centers tend to charge you a lot for. There are other brands that offer 2-3 years of warranty which is significantly more stress free. I hate how you have to keep in mind that you only have a 1 year worth of free labor services, 3 years for parts, and 6 months for missing accessory replacements.
My my monitor died just after a year of using it. But since it was slightly off by a few days, my free labor warranty benefit is nulled. And after having it screened by an authorized service center, they said they would charge me $100 for it. I bought the monitor for $170 last year. I might as well just buy a new monitor for $100 since it's just a 24 inch 1080p display anyways.
TLDR; Samsung has a weird 3-part warranty system that technically only covers 1 year worth of repair fees. They won't even consider replacing your unit when other brands do it with open arms.

2023.06.03 03:07 syd_er Yelling into the void
Hi people!
I'm Quinn, 24 years old.
This post might be of the lengthy kind, I don't know yet. I'm just sharing my thoughts, yelling into the void, so feel free to read along, it might be worth your while. :)
Funny how I am now posting on this subreddit, after spending thousands of bucks on technical equipment and several thousands if not tens of thousands of hours sunken into PC/console gaming ever since I was 11 years old.
Gaming always has been a very major part of my life. And just recently I started questioning that "hobby" of mine. Just for metrics sake: I have been at my PC daily, if my schedule allows it (which it does, 90% of the time). Anything from 2 to 10 hours, some days even more. Rarely a day passes when I am not playing videogames. It's been such a massive part of my life that it influenced my line of work too, as I have been working as a technical IT specialist for years.
Now that you've got the prologue.. Recently, about two or three weeks ago, I reinstalled League of Legends, after staying away from it for a year or so (3rd or 4th time I had "quit" it). And since many of you know, League is a horrible place. Everything about that game is toxic and crippling to the highest degree. Both socially and mentally.
After I wrestled my rage down after a particularly bad game, resisting the urge to literally smash something to pieces, either my own body or some object that was unfortunate enough to be close to me, I laid down in bed.
Checked the time, 3am. Looking back at my day, I accomplished nothing. Learned nothing. Just videogames. Honed no relevant, physically applicable skill. Essentially just killing time.
Only sat at my desk, getting really, really toxic and angry at random digital bullcrap and not moving an inch, neglecting my health.
I recently passed a really crucial, final exam. I should be in my best mood. But j felt unbalanced, burned out. The negative feelings and passive guilt from having done nothing all day suppressed that joy I should be feeling.
After googling a bit, trying to find people having similar experiences as me, I found this community. And then it kind of struck me. The time and money I sunk into videogames. The hours wasted. The meals skipped, the other hobbies that were consumed by it, the friends and events I called off in favor of playing videogames.
I could have learned countless instruments. Read countless books. Developed so much. I realized how many hobbies I had as a kid that were mutilated by a gaming addiction.
I don't think I need to say any more, this was the last straw. This piece of shit computer, these piece of shit games. Me neglecting my life, my self and others, in favor of doing something that gets me absolutely nowhere. I realized how absolutely deranged and emotionally unstable I have become.
I am ready to quit. I want to keep World of Warcraft around, I really only play it alone and mostly just for Lore. I enjoy that so much, that I feel like it's worth keeping around.
But from 4 hours average a day, down to a maximum of 4 hours a week.
I'll be resetting my computer tomorrow..and leaving only WoW on it. It's time to get my damn life under control.
If you made it this far, thank you for participating my monologue. If you have/had similar experiences I'd love to hear about them in the comments. :)

2023.06.03 03:03 Longjumping_Emu6262 Should I stay at new job or move try and move on?
I'm going to try and keep this short but there's a lot of details, so I'm sorry in advance.
I'm 28, live in a MCOL area, and started a new job field about 6 months ago. I have worked trade jobs my whole life but had a severe back injury some years back, and it took me out of it. I went back to a warehouse and was making just shy of $30/hr there, and got laid off after a year when the company shut down.
I got a job offer a week after I got laid off in a small company that allowed me to get an office job. I originally talked about going into finance with the owner of the company, starting at $30/hr. We pondered and talked for a week or so and he ended up asking me to hire in as marketing, working with the other owner. I accepted the job, but he started me at $20 due to me having no job experience in any office jobs.
Now I've been there 6 months, and due to me being really computer smart, I have completely organized and manage a CRM that they weren't using originally, fully overhauled the marketing campaign that was non existent, and has drawn in 30% more traffic, built 3 separate websites from scratch for the owners 3 separate companies, and manage all 3 of them, including all new products, and have begun building 3d renderings of the construction projects we have built, as a model to show customers, mixed with pictures from the actual jobs.
Last week I asked for a raise due to me taking on and over performing his expectations tenfold (his words). I was originally told I'd get a raise at 90 days, that I didn't get. When we talked about the raise, he asked how I liked my job. I told him I liked my job here and would love to stay, but I can only enjoy work so much when I have bills I can't pay and have to work a minimum of 60 hours a week, just to pay bills. He said he will see what he can do regarding the raise. I was declined the raise Wednesday, and I'm wondering if I should stay in the spot I'm at or if I should attempt to get another job. I have this 6 months of experience only as an office worker, but I'm doing 3 and 4 jobs at a time constantly, and I don't know if it will even matter. Am I underpaid, or do I just not have enough experience to be worth more per hour?
Any advice on where to go will be appreciated. I'm so lost and tired right now. Thank you in advance.

2023.06.03 02:07 Reniath New(ish) player looking for assistance (Very Long post)
Hello there, this is going to be another one of them "new player asking for help" threads so if its not your jam I'm just giving you a heads up. I will be posting a TLDR at the bottom where I just spit fire off some questions if you want to help but don't want to read the ramblings of a noob.
Hi, I recently picked up Maplestory and decided on the reboot server. My account is older but for reboot its only about 3-4 weeks old. Last time I played Maplestory kaiser was new. I'm kind of just looking for some guidance on things I may have missed on the way to completing the tutorial. ATM im lvl 209 on Adele, currently farming Normal Emp, normal Arkarium, and normal Gollux. Other bosses i am killing for Meso but don't really need gear from other than Magnus and his kuk badge. I did do 2 carries for Cht and I think normal magnus very early on but tbh it felt like cheating so I'm not really interested in being carried. I have all my link chars up to level 120-140, except DA who I'm planning to hyper burn to hit 210 (they are currently lvl 70). Legion still needs a bit of work I have about 9 more classes to go most of the others being in the 120-140 range. I have heard the term "sweet water" but I'm not really sure what that is. This also includes what ever the heck an Absolab is... please send help.Game has been ab absolute blast so far but playing solo (meaning talking wise, I know the game is "played" solo more or less) has been a bit of a bummer.
Gear questions/overviewAll my gear that can be is 11 SF, Epic pot (or higher) with 6% str. secondary wep, wep, emblem and are % atk instead of str. Currently I am using 2 event rings and both of those (in addition to my emblem) are all legendary potential. Items I know of and how to get are, empress set, solid gollux, dominator pendant; if there is any items that I should be aiming for please let me know. Also, my weapon i got from Zak is like, REALLY powerful flame? (i think that is how you use this term) and I cant seem to transfer hammer it to any other weapons, not even boss ones. Am I missing something or what?
Game mechanics/NuancesCurrently just unlocked 5th job and looking up/using a guide for that.I have every *Known* boss before lvl.. 200ish? unlocked. Currently working on Princess No.Also for pets, if I get 3 pets using the special cake or what ever its called do I have to renew all my pets skills (like auto buff) every 90 days or or just the water? Is it even worth getting pet(s) now?
thanks for reading my ramblings, if you made it this far... why. Appreciate you though <3.
TLDR Version (thanks for helping if you decide to) 1: I'm a new player, 3-4 weeks old. Level 209 Adele with about 1.0-1.1m range on boss spec buffed. 2: Link skills and legion are "done" or WIP (know what to do just need to do it). 3: I'm hyper burning DA for the really good link/legion skill, opinions? 4: MY gear is 11 SF, 6% or higher str (weapon, badge, and secondary wep are % atk instead). 5: Currently running Normal Emp, Normal Gollux, and Normal Ark daily for "obvious upgrades" 6: What is a "Sweet Water"? 7: What is an "Absolab"? 8: How does transfer hammer work? it only seems to "sometimes" transfer the stats correctly? 9: What is an "Android" / "Heart" and is it worth worrying about atm? 10: On maple event I'm maxing it daily for 3 chars, I'm doing it on 6+ on Sunday, what do I buy? ~ 11: For Vmatrix on the skill acquisition nodes (not the tri nodes) do i need to hold onto dupes?
I Really appreciate any and all help, The game has been an absolute blast so far and I'm kinda just vibing rn. The pacing feels good but I do occasionally feel lost.

General Resources
REMINDER: Bind your account!
Please remember to bind your accounts and take note of your
UID,
member code,
server location, and any information related to your account (e.g. amount spent, student roster, etc). If anything happens to your account (e.g. losing access, unauthorized access), you will need to provide as much info as you can to Nexon's customer support email. Guest accounts that are unbound will be extremely difficult to recover, perhaps impossible.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
[01] When does the server reset? For global, dailies reset at 19:00 UTC and weeklies reset on Sunday.
[02] Should I re-roll this account? This will depend on your priorities with PvE, PvP, or both, but you can generally see the “ideal” units as Iori, Hibiki, and Tsubaki for most content, while Shun and Haruna are great for PvP.
[03] Who should I spend my elephs on? Who should I mystic unlock? At the start, prioritize spending your blank elephs on getting Serina to 2-star for the increased healing stat, Tsubaki to 3-star for the extra tankiness when she is reloading. It is generally advised not to spend your elephs on increasing characters to 4-star and 5-star ratings, since there is only a stat increase and the amount of elephs needed is quite high.
[04] What do my support students’ stats do? Aside from increasing the stats of their own skills, support students will provide additional stat boosts to your striker team. The specific increase(s) can be viewed by clicking on “Support” on the right side of the team formation screen.
[05] What should I buy in the shop? - Credit Shop - Buy out the bottom row of materials, then the first two tiers of enhancement stones as needed. Feel free to buy the higher tiers of enhancement stones if you feel that you have an excess of credits, which is very common.
- Eligma - This will depend on you, can reference question [03].
- Total Assault (raid) - Prioritize Maki’s elephs (until you unlock her) and save the rest of your currency for future updates that will add more low-rarity students to the shop, meaning you can unlock mystic for them without spending your eligma. You can also purchase the skill discs/blu-rays depending on your needs.
- Tactical Challenge (PvP) - Buy out the energy drinks as needed (warning: they are instantly consumed, they won’t be moved to your inventory). Many suggest to save these for events in order to buy drinks, refresh the shop, and repeat.
[06] What does the “leader” position do? This is purely cosmetic, as it changes which student’s chibi shows up on the map.
[07] What benefits are there to joining a club? - 10 AP are given daily and deposited automatically on teacher's mailbox, upon checking in.
- A maximum of two assistant can be set for Total Assault and Joint Firing Drill respectively.
- Students assigned to assist with TA cannot also be selected to assist with JFD.
- 20 credits are rewarded every minute by setting assistants.
- The specific unit that is borrowed can be only used once a day.
- There's a fee of 40,000 credits, when borrowing a assistant student.
- The donor receives 50,000 credits instead; even though the fee is 40,000 credits.
- The fee can only be received 20 times a day.
- It can be unlocked after clearing Mission 3 Act 4
[08] How does the pity system work? You need to pull, at a minimum, 200 times in order to get 200 recruitment points that are redeemed for the character you want. The recruitment point system does not carry over from banner to banner, it is only shared between banners that are concurrently running.
[09] Why can’t I find my friend’s club? While the servers’ updates are separated from JP and global, the global servers are separated further into smaller divisions. You need to be on the same server as your friend, which you can check from the home screen: top-right menu button > account > version info. The server must be the same.
[10] When is X banner coming? Should I save for X student? We never know for sure, due to the fact that global servers are on an accelerated schedule compared to JP. Please refer to this
guide for some more info.
[11] Should I use Pyroxenes to refill my AP? If you want to prioritize progression, the first three daily refills are decently valuable, this is because the Pyroxene cost of refilling will increase for every three refills. If you are focused on character collection or future banners, you should be saving your Pyroxenes.
[12] Why can’t I buy X student’s eleph in the shop? You can only buy elephs of students you own.
[13] What should I craft? At the start, prioritize crafting cafe furniture until your comfort is maxed out, then students’ gifts, then whichever upgrade materials you need. The crafting system is the only way to get furniture and gifts at the moment.
[14] What is the “Anniversary” in account settings? This is your birthday, used for characters to wish you happy birthday.
[15] When will the beginner guide missions for Nonomi end? This is a permanent addition, so feel free to take your time with the tasks.
[16] What is the best place to farm EXP? You can run any map to farm EXP, as the EXP gain is equal to the amount of AP spent (i.e. 10 AP spent = 10 EXP gained). You should be looking at the stages that drop the equipment upgrade materials that you need.
[17] What is the “Secret Tech Sheet” in the Total Assault shop? This is used to upgrade a student’s (non-EX) skill to level 10.
[18] Is it worth doing a raid if I can’t pass X difficulty level? It is always more efficient to clear the highest difficulty you can finish instead of failing/forfeiting a higher difficulty.
[19] Can I claim the Limited Students through exchanging Expert Permits? How often does the Expert Permit shop resets? You cannot get the limited students via this method. You will still need to pull for them. There's no specific mentioned but it's expected to be monthly.
