2023.05.30 23:45 Staticalmite [HOBBY] Need a 3D Modeler for my FNAF Fangame!

I need a developer to join my team, which is currently developing Aphyns!
APHYNS is a non-profit Five Nights at Freddy's fangame that seeks to weave a tale of mystery, deception, and profound loss. This ambitious project ingeniously combines visual novel-styled investigation segments with heart-pounding sit-and-survive FNAF-styled sections, delivering a unique and immersive gameplay experience.
The game's narrative takes place two years after a cataclysmic event known as the 'reality storm,' which forever altered the lives of Winston and AJ, the main protagonists. In the seemingly normal summer of 1990, they attempt to rebuild their lives, despite their shattered perception of reality. Yet, amidst this fragile sense of normalcy, fate has more in store for them. One fateful day, as AJ's friend Zack pays them a visit, Winston receives a letter from his beloved girlfriend, who tragically departed without the opportunity to bid him a proper farewell. The contents of the letter propel Winston on an arduous journey, unraveling the enigma surrounding her death, or rather, did she truly die at all? It becomes a race against time as he dives deep into a labyrinth of secrets, chasing countless dead-ends, desperate for the truth that lies hidden in the shadows.
However, as the investigation progresses, Aphyns, the town in which they reside, is suddenly besieged by a surge of paranormal occurrences. It is during this chaotic period that Jack Renn, a mysterious figure, enters their lives. Jack, accompanied by his enigmatic robot butler, NOTUS, approaches Winston and AJ with a grave task: to eliminate the anomalies that plague Aphyns and restore peace to the town once and for all.
I have so far, poured a lot of my time into writing and refining the characters and story, and I'm getting to the point where I do need some people for the parts I can't do! Like, the biggest amount of respect to ANY 3D Modelers out there, I tried learning it myself and got lost so fast!
In any case, if you're interested in helping out, give me a DM or comment here!

2023.05.30 23:45 r3allybadusername Please treat your ta's well

I did the math and currently, if you assume a graduate student does 40 hours of work a week, they're making about $14 an hour. Most are doing closer to 50 or 60 - not including our own coursework. We're not allowed to take part time jobs and many of us are discouraged from taking on additional taing for increased pay. We then also have to pay tuition and most of us don't qualify for osap.
When we TA, we're expected to work long hours with short marking deadlines. More than once I've had less than a week to mark >200 exams (which isnt good for you guys either). Many us have been harassed and threatened by undergraduate students while teaching.
Most of us love our research and we love teaching but it's hard to do that when you're extremely underpaid and overworked.
I say all of this because the cupe collective agreement expires in August and bargaining will begin. I know York has a bad reputation for strikes and the past has left a bad taste in our mouths when we think of union negotiations but I beg you to pay attention. We need all the support we can get just to survive.

2023.05.30 23:44 12_Ducks_In_20_Geese I Want To Love The Iron Warriors, But Something Is Blocking It

I already like the Iron Warriors a lot, and I really want to love them, I really do. They have so many things about them that should make them one of the most compelling space marines to me.
-Chaos? Check
-Technologically astute? Check
-Aggressive but intelligent fighting style? Check
-Logistical, tactical, and strategic geniuses? Check
-40k equivalent to the chaos dwarves and all that that means? Check
But while that last part is one of my favourite things about them, it simultaneously bothers me so much, and it all has to do with how bitter they are to their old foes. The chaos dwarves are not human. They psychologically distinct. So they can get away with being comedically bitter for all eternity. But Iron Warriors? Indoctrination aside, they are still human, they recruit and create marines who had no involvement with the Horus Heresy. I know that the warp affects time severely, but even if they have not experienced time as 10,000 years, surely most would stop having their grudges be their primary goal in life. The grudges can still be there, sure, but has there been any character arch or at least new motivations for different warbands? I can get behind hating someone for 10,000 years and wishing they were all demolished, and being willing to do so if the opportunity arises, but surely they have made new aspirations and goals during that time. I want to know what else is going on with them that I can sink my teeth into.
Perturabo is also one of my favourite primarchs. I consider him the best traitor primarch in terms of his character arch in the HH. All of these great things about them and this one thing holds me back. I want to love these guys, but some of the traits that made the chaos dwarves charming to me, just bothers me with the IW. Any help getting past this mount would be appreciated.

2023.05.30 23:43 Avalyn95 Mom found out I am living with my boyfriend and I feel like my life is over

This is my first time ever posting and I am in a very desperate situation right now. I'm late 20s F from a north African country living in Germany with my boyfriend for the last couple of years. I used to live in a house with mates but then i moved in with my partner because it made more sense financially and emotionally as well. Since then I've hid and lied about everything to my mom and this has been hard since I'm required to have a video call every single day or notify via text when I can't. It's been working out until today because for some reason she asked me to show the old room and i said no and she threw a tantrum so I showed her where i was sitting and said I changed the floor and the setting and she just exploded and said "this confirmed what I was thinking and fearing. Do whatever the hell you want" and then hung up on me. Then she sent me multiple long texts saying how bad of a mother she is, that i want to kill my father (he's had like 3 strokes and multiple problems), called me and i didn't pick up. Asked me to tell her that it's something else....i said i wanted a break and that I would call tomorrow but I am not ready for this conversation. I am not strong enough to do this. As you can imagine, my life will forever change now and I am not the lovely perfect daughter anymore. Up until now, i have done nothing but check all the boxes: i studied hard, i graduated with honors, i have a stable job and i even financially support my family every month. Now I am so afraid that they will not love me anymore and never want to talk to me anymore. What should I do? How can I get out of this situation? I'm so sorry if this is super messy, I am an absolute mess right now and I am literally shaking from anxiety.

2023.05.30 23:43 rafaelwm1982 Action and Non-Action

Action that is flexible to both means and ends is wu-wei, literally non-action. It refers to a type of activity that engages in action without violating the nature of the object that is acted upon or the nature of the instrumental context in which the action takes place. An understanding of this insight can be gained by simply contemplating the distinct functions of a spoon, fork and knife. The knife is used for cutting, the fork and spoon are used for moving and raising solids and liquids. The spoon and fork can be used for cutting, but that is not their natural function. In this sense, wu-wei is concerned with the appropriate or inappropriate use of a tool. A tool that is appropriate arises in the world effortlessly and efficiently. Furthermore, beside the instrumental context, there is a larger human context in which the tool must fit. This fittingness is first and foremost an aesthetic matter that concerns sensibility. An insensibility to the larger context that includes aesthetic, epistemological, and religious values makes the introduction of the tool, intruding and unnatural. Technological devices born out of an exclusive focus on efficiency impose themselves on the world, while technologies that fit in the larger context of human existence grow out of it. Action that is technological in the sense of wu-wei, then, is natural and necessary.
The concept of Te in the Tao Te Ching has both moral and non-moral implications. It has been translated both as 'power' and as 'virtue'. A thing, such as a pencil, has its own Te, an intrinsic power to be what it is and to do what it does best. For example, there are surfaces which a pencil marks better than any other tool for writing, Everything, including artificial objects, have a Te. A spoon has its own natural way of being in the sense that it fits precisely the context in which it is used. (Fung Yu-lan, 101). The Te, therefore, is the power that allows for effective action. The Te of the spoon is not in the spoon apart from its user; it is not intrinsic to the spoon left unused on the table. It manifests itself only in the spoon while-in-use, and only if the spoon-in-use does not violate the integrity and simplicity of the single manifold.
[According to the theory of having-no-activity, a man should restrict his activities to what is necessary and what is natural. ‘Necessary’ means necessary to the achievement of a certain purpose, and never over-doing. ‘Natural’ means following one’s Te with no arbitrary effort. In doing this one should take simplicity as the guiding principle of life. (Fung Yu-lan, 101)]
If the spoon is too heavy, then it does not fit in the natural order established by the context of eating a meal. If the spoon is too ugly (or too beautiful), it imposes itself on the attention of its users. The principle of the mean is operative here. The spoon should neither be too long nor too short, neither too pointed nor too rounded, neither too cupped nor too flat. Here virtue, Te, is the mean between excess and defect. The considerations that determine what is appropriate are virtually endless and engage not only the sensibilities of the engineer, but also those of the artist and the metaphysician.
Te has moral implications. A world moved by wu-wei is not beyond good and evil, but it is beyond fixed characterizations of what good and evil are. There would be no need to distinguish between good action and evil action, between good and bad machines, because actions and devices would arise naturally and organically. This fitting-into the natural order means fitting-in the single manifold of the good, the true, the useful, and the holy that is humanity, since the proper sphere for technology is given by the relationship between the user and the tool. In this sense, some technologies would be naturally acceptable, while some would be rejected. Taoist ethics is to be found at the level of aesthetic sensibility, not of moral or political understanding. Sensibility is set in motion by the type of relationship established between the human and the machine and the larger context of instrumental relationships.
A good spoon, one that is virtuous, that has Te, is not too heavy and it is not too light; the metal is neither too thick nor thin. It is polished to the degree that food does not easily stick to it. It is balanced so that it can be held easily. All of these properties are part of efficiency. The spoon could be used as a weapon to injure someone, and we may judge that to be unethical, but that limitation does not need to be imposed on the spoon from the outside by ethical standards. The spoon does not make a very efficient weapon, particularly if your opponent has a sword. Its inefficiency limits it from being used unethically. The spoon is also part of an instrumental complex, that is, a system of instrumental relationships. So the shape of the spoon should conform to the shapes of the cups and bowls with which it is used. This fitting into to the instrumental complex is part of its efficiency. In all of these cases we are talking about what makes a “good” spoon. Good in the sense of efficiency flows into good in an ethical sense. Technologies that pollute the air and water that we and other living things breathe and drink are, in the context of a consideration of ends, inefficient and ineffective, but they are also morally wrong in a broader sense than the standards of a merely human ethic.
This virtue or power of Te results in an effortless form of action that does not require deliberation about means and ends. It is efficient action but action without instrumental thinking. Flowing water is used in the Taoist literature as an analogy for the path of the Tao informed by such non-instrumental thinking. Flowing water takes the shape of its container. It is without will or plan or any form of its own. It either flows around or over obstacles, or over time wears them away. Sometimes it rises up as a powerful force; at other times it is yielding and weak. The Tao Te Ching evokes the effortless effectiveness of water in these few lines: “There is nothing softer and weaker than water, and yet there is nothing better for attacking hard and strong things…. All the world knows that the weak overcomes the strong and the soft overcomes the hard, but none can practice it” (Chan, 174-175). The difficulty of putting effortless action into practice is the result of the tendency to yield to linear instrumental thinking that is not open to redefining means and ends and which encounters the world with opposition and resistance. Presumably this is what the gardener saw in the machine that he refused to use.

2023.05.30 23:43 Chemical_Sorbet_7166 Will he ever come back?

I (23F) am feeling unlovable after (38 M) played with my senses
Is there a difference between “do not contact me” and “do not contact me again”?
Does one imply the person will eventually come back?
Three years ago I met this guy online and straight away he put my photo as his Lock Screen and sent me romantic messages. Anyways during that time I was really depressed and we ended up ending conversation. Then a year later on my bday he popped up again and we resumed communication. It was like a Dr Jekyll and mr Hyde from him. He switched from being kind to me to being so cruel and sarcastic. I knew he was stalking me on my instagram because anytime I would post anything activism related he would advise me not to. Anyways I remember one time I told him i was training at work at he said “training, I like the sound of that”. He was in and out of my life during this time and he would take 3-5 days to respond to me and then if I didn’t respond quickly he would be passive aggressive. Anyways he would disappear for weeks and I would feel my heart so scared to loose him. One day I told him about my family history of trauma and how when my parents don’t like what I do they stop talking to me. He told me “thanks for telling me that”. I told him one day I was afraid he’d do the same. He said he’d never. Anyways by the end of it I was put on antidepressants which induced a manic episode. I remember I was sending messages and he was being snarky and sarcastic to me and twice I caught him online but ignoring my messages. He’s 38 and I was only 22. I confronted him but he just deleted his profile picture so I sent him a manic text telling him that he taught me that people were going to use me and that he can’t keep using the excuse he’s busy at work. I regret sending that message. He blocked me and in my manic mind I texted him so many messages on his number (I wasn’t thinking) to avoid him leaving because he still wasn’t replying. After three days of this stupid and manic behaviour I called him but he didn’t answer and he texted “all of this has to stop. Don’t text me” and it’s been a year and I haven’t heard anything back from him. Of course I’d never contact him but my heart is so broken over him and I have no idea why. I’m off the meds but everyday I wish I could get a second chance. I feel used and discarded especially after he saw such private parts of me and I opened up. Advice how to move on?

2023.05.30 23:42 SpicyJellyBeans Help with G17 parts

First off, thank you to everyone contributing to this sub. I’ve been a long time lurker, but this community has helped me complete a few different builds. It’s amazing what info you can find if you just search the fucking sub instead of posting repeated questions.
So anyway, the wife wants to build her own 940v2 with a black frame and black slide with rose gold parts. I’ve found the parts from KM Tactical and some other vendors, but they look more copper to me. Anyone have any experience with the rose gold (ticn) parts from KM or any other vendors? Or is there someone reputable on here that could do a ticn coating or cerakote on them? There’s literally no one in my area that does cerakote, so I haven’t looked into that very much.
Parts that I am looking for in rose gold are:
Barrel, preferably threaded, trigger shoe, pins, back plate, possibly slide release, mag release, and slide lock/takedown
Any help is greatly appreciated!

2023.05.30 23:42 Raymond_Towers Firefly Plots And Villains

I recently added the Firefly series to my e-book Space Sci Fi Plots And Villains. The book is a resource for RPG players, writers and fans who'd like inspiration for their own sci fi projects, with random tables for character names and breakdowns for the plots and villains in each episode. The book is available at Pay What You Want on Drive Thru RPG. A sample entry is included below.
https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/403320/Space-Sci-Fi-Quick-Plots-And-Villains
Wiki Episode Description, Episode 6: After completing a job for a small settlement, during the ensuing celebration, Mal learns that he inadvertently married a young woman called Saffron, part of the payment. Although Mal insists they are not married, Saffron is determined to fulfill a subservient wife's role. Saffron is not what she appears to be. She later knocks Mal out, locks the ship into a course for murderous ship scrappers, and flees in a shuttle. The crew barely escapes.
  1. S01E06: Our Mrs. Reynolds
Plot: The crew takes on the job of stopping bandits at an isolated location. Because the location is poor, part of the payment includes gifting the captain with a bride. The captain is too drunk to figure out a simple wedding ceremony is taking place, and when he wakes up the next morning he finds out he’s become a husband. Half of the crew is happy for him, while the other half is angry and resentful that he has taken advantage of a poor country girl. However, this poor country girl is not the person everyone thinks she is.
Villains: A small group of minor bandits, relatives of those bandits who might be looking for the crew, making the crew unable to return the new bride back home, and the bride herself, who is a master at manipulating and seduction, has good fighting skills, and whose bag of tricks includes sleeping potions, applied on the lips, that will put her victims fast asleep.

2023.05.30 23:42 Relative_Variety_785 Quitting my job to focus on college

I’m 22 years old and just finished my 2nd year of community college. I’ve had a job at a grocery store for about a year now. I make 16/hr and have a good relationship with my management/coworkers. My original plan was to quit once I transferred from community to university. This is because I want to go full-time and possibly double major, and having no job would ease the stress of that. However, I found out it’s too late for me to get in to the Fall semester, and I have to wait for Spring (January). I would’ve just kept my job until then, but I planned a trip to Europe in august, thinking I would have quit my job by then. My job definitely won’t let me take that much time off, so my choice is to reschedule my Europe trip for next year and keep my job until December, or just quit my job in July as planned but have nothing to do from September-January. I live at home and pay minimal bills and I have a lot of savings, so that’s not an issue. I just feel guilty not working for months waiting for school to start. I would really rather not reschedule my vacation, but the thought of being unemployed and not in school for months makes me feel uneasy. This has been a difficult and scary decision… what should I do?

2023.05.30 23:42 connermcsteezy Hi, general questions about working for USPS

Hi so I currently work at a big box grocery store in the Midwest and it is awful. I’ve worked here for 10 years been promoted a couple times and now I’m salaried making about 55k a year. Problem is I’m working about 50 to 60 hours a week and not getting paid for that, along with the hours being all over the place. For example this week I’m working 10pm to 8am Saturday into Sunday Monday 6am to 4pm Tuesday 2pm to 12am off a day the 4am to 2pm the next 2 days. And those out times are not guaranteed if we are busy. The actual work isn’t bad but your almost always pulled somewhere else then getting yelled at for not getting your specific job done. Anyways enough bitching, but I was wondering what it’s like starting out and what the long term has in store. Also if anyone here is from northwest Ohio area has any regional insight. Thanks everyone much appreciated and thanks for all your hard work.

2023.05.30 23:42 Known-Direction-5913 Preparing to do a full time internship next, but still need to make money...what to do?

Hi all! I am currently a grad student going for my LMHC (in NY). Next school year, I am preparing to do a 20 hweek internship which will mainly be remote. I am going to be enrolled in classes as well and I am concerned if I will be able to keep my current full time job which is most likely going to be fully in person starting in September. What are the best type of jobs I should look into for a counseling student? Finding a remote job would make everything 10x easier. I absolutely need to continue to make money during my internship and I am worried about becoming burnt out when I am really trying to learn as much as I can during my internship. Our internship culture is so fucked, but that's a post for a different time lmao

2023.05.30 23:41 OnlineDandy Are there measures in place to protect this subreddit from the rest of the website?

The moderators of this sun have always been pretty helpful and consistent, from what I’ve seen. When someone’s post isn’t flaired, one of them will give flair it for them instead of making someone who’s trying to pour their heart out worry about their post suddenly being taken down cause they made one tiny mistake.
What I’m worried about though, is reddit as a whole and their strange hatred towards victims of circumstance.
One of my worst fears is that this subreddit gets infiltrated by moderators who seem to understand the assignment at first, but then eventually start turning it into every subreddit where you’re not allowed to rant, you can’t be too nuanced or you’re “in the wrong subreddit”, you can’t tell off someone being rude to the OP or you’ll get banned for something vague like “hateful rhetoric” regardless of your tone, and can’t even ask simple questions about moderators without it being purposefully misinterpreted as criticism, resulting in a ban, posts being removed for breaking loose interpretations of something included in a long list of rules on a sidebar that no same person with a day job would have the time to read, etc etc etc.
If there aren’t already (and I don’t wanna insult the mods intelligence here, I feel like they’ve already had this discussion before) then there should be. I already know this subreddit has a huge target on its back, because of course it would.
Do you really think the kind of people who run most of Reddit would allow the victims of child abuse to speak freely about their experiences and get support by expressing their pain? There’s no way. They want this place flooded with overbearing hall monitors that make it exceedingly difficult to post, while coincidentally letting posts that are invalidating and confusing to slip through the cracks.
This is the only subreddit left I know of where my own posts are seen and responded to, and not taken down before it can get any attention. I’m sure it’s the same for everyone else as well. There needs to be some kind of assurance that this sub won’t become like the rest.

2023.05.30 23:41 SaintsDecay The enchantress calls my name- datura innoxia p2

Before I start this understand this is not something anyone should try doing. Datura is not like mushrooms or acid, this is a whole different ballpark. Datura is not psychedelic, it's a deliriant. It can make you loose your mind. Be warned, this can make you loose parts of yourself. Do not try this. Ever.
Ok so I'm back at it again so soon. Last time I tried this I just went to bed and had weird dreams. I made a tea out of 4 leaves I steeped roughly ten minutes. Didn't end up falling asleep for about 2 hours after I finished the tea.
Now we get to today.
I left the flower out to dry in the front yard, I took a small part of it a while ago, 15 minutes maybe? I smoked a bowl of basically just the flower. I'm doing it in small ammounts. So far I'm hearing some false rain. Pretty nice actually:) the ground felt like it may have shifted? Maybe that's a placebo. False expectations
I'll keep this updated as often as I can lol. Sorry bout dipping like that last post. I try to write this down on pen and paper

2023.05.30 23:41 Resident-Crazy-4661 How to wear straight

Hey guys! I need some help. I have 4c hair, usually I wear my hair curly or In braids. I don't use heat, I often air dry. I'm deciding on changing my hairstyle up and thinking straight. How exactly is the best way to go about it? I was thinking sew in or clips in but that does require straightening of the leave out part, which I'm scared will lead to heat damage if I'm using heat several times a week. Wigs just don't look right to me, even if it's $500 the lace still shows :(.
Help a girl out, what is the best route to wear straight hair without heat damage?

2023.05.30 23:41 Exciting_Durian_6857 What to read after House of Suns by Reynolds?

I spent most of my time getting into print SF with The Expanse and realized that as someone with degrees in sociology and philosophy I gravitate towards those kind of topics. I like to have my mind boggled in more ways than one. Expanse felt a bit like the authors bit off a little more than they could chew towards the end. Not that I don’t like an epic space battle or military type stuff. I really enjoyed the first few books with Miller in them. Love hard boiled detectives. And the suspense was there. Liu’s Three Body Problem which I picked up somewhere in between was a bit much. Too weird. Didn’t finish it but will at some point. Loved the historical parts (China in the 20th century). But man did House of Suns blow me out of the water. That book touched me and once it got going it gripped me like The Expanse in its best moments. It had my mind boggled a few times but it never felt weird as with Three Body Problem. Not to say it’s bad!
I read books in parallel mostly because I always need to read something historical. Currently reading Dune with he intent to read them all as part of me trying to ingest all the must read sci-fi books. But I’m looking to grab my next Reynolds asap. Which should I go for?
Man was that book GOOD! It’s like everything I love about sci-fi in one book.

2023.05.30 23:41 Chemical_Sorbet_7166 Should I try to manifest back this person?

I (23F) am feeling unlovable after (38 M) played with my senses

2023.05.30 23:41 ApostropheWarrior 28 [M4F] #Cincinnati, Ohio - I worked hard to get to where I am, but all this time, I've been saving a spot for you.

I'm a firm believer in the cliché love story. I yearn for a deep, passionate connection that transcends boundaries, entwining our hearts in a tapestry of shared dreams.
My entire adult life has been consumed by school. Growing up, I was told that if I worked hard in academics, everything would fall into place, but what they didn't mention was how long it would take and what I would be giving up. Now, I have a PhD and work an amazing job, but I'm still missing the most important piece: you.
