2023.06.07 20:18 DryAttention4511 Bf of 3.5 years left me because he saw himself with someone else
Ex bf (M23) broke up with me (F21) about a week and a half ago because he "saw himself with someone else." To preface, this relationship has been rocky from the start, but it was our deep love for each other that kept the relationship (somewhat) together. The reason for the relationship being so rocky was due to the fact that he was in the military up until 2 months ago. His contract with the military was up 2 months ago, and we both had agreed for years that this would be the solution to our problems. We dated on and off for about 3 years long distance, which created a lot of complications on top of him having tons of childhood trauma and me also having my own issues with anxiety and an anxious attachment style. He was very toxic during certain parts of our relationship and he hurt me many times. He would always come back though and profess his love for me after something happened.
Whenever he took a leave and was able to come home during his time in the military our relationship was absolutely perfect and all those issues we had in long distance were gone. Thats why when he finally got out of the service we both were so excited and thought that everything would be amazing. The thing is, it honestly was very amazing. 2 months in one day he just told me he started to see himself with someone else because we didn't share that many hobbies together. We knew that already though, and it wasn't a deal breaker before.
I knew that I should have not gotten back together with him so many times and I should have saw the on and off ness as a sign that it was never going to workout, but he just knew all the right words to say every time he came back and he would come onto me so strongly (almost like love bombing). I genuinely tried so many times to get away from this guy but he was persistent in staying in my life. He gets out of the military and now he doesn't want me though???? What is that BS!!! None of it makes sense.
He is the first guy I have ever dated seriously and loved so it was just so hard for me to leave because I was so attached. He had so many good qualities that I thought outweighed the bad, and I was just blinded by love. I truly did think that our love was so deep and strong, but now that he left me for good after getting out of the military (which makes me think he used me just for company when he was in it) I just think that he never truly loved me the way I thought he did. The thing is though, he would make it seem so deep! It wasn't just me overlooking things all the time. This is what leads me to believe he's manipulative... but I just don't know. I question myself so much because this is my first relationship.
It's been a week and half and although I have a long healing journey to go since it was such a long relationship, I am not crying all the time anymore and I am feeling better. The only thing I'm left with when I think about this relationship though is how does someone seem genuinely so in love with you for YEARS and the feeling leaves within 2 months? I just don't understand. Like practically, my brain doesn't get it. And it bothers me because it makes it hard to process the relationship properly because none of it makes sense. I know there's the saying of "you never get closure" but I feel like my situation is different because I genuinely have no answers. I remember he used to tell me "if anything ever happened like a world apocalypse or something I would go straight to you." How does someone feel that way genuinely and then decide one day randomly that you just aren't the one for them??? It makes no sense.
It makes me think he's just a dumb 23 year old guy who wants to throw away something good with someone for the freedom of dating around in his 20's. Well guess what, he could have realized that the countless times I tried to get away from him back during long distance, but no he realizes it now after he's wasted 3.5 years of my life. I just need answers as to how someone loves you so much for years but then changes their mind in such a short period of time. What does that mean? It just doesn't make any sense...
Also if anyone is worried I am still in contact with him I blocked him on all social media and his phone number. I have no interest in ever contacting him again because I want to move on from this whole mess but it's just so hard to process the break up when I have so many unanswered questions that he couldn't give me. All he could say was "I'm sorry."
Also one more thing, all of my friends and family didn't really like him for all the stuff he put me through, so he also said he wanted a clean slate since he messed up so bad, although that excuse still doesn't make sense to me because he could have figured that one out ages ago too, lol. If anyone can help me process this or has any words of wisdom I would SO appreciate it. tl;dr

2023.06.07 20:18 Kendalf Methinks the Larry doth protest too much - Reflection on LH call with Financial Journey
This post may now be moot with indications that Hardge is walking from Mullen, but the academic side of me wants it on the record that there were clear signs that Hardge was not being on the level with his sayings and dealings. Plus the fact that I already had most of this written last night, and was waiting for Financial Journey to
release the actual recording of his call with Hardge to confirm what had been said earlier.
On the one hand, Hardge has repeatedly spoken boastfully (not at all humble) of all the massive deals he personally had lined up, all of whom wanted to work with HIM and not Mullen. He then talked like he was doing Mullen and its shareholders a favor by sharing the alleged profits of these deals with Mullen. Hardge sounded quite miffed that Mullen seems to not want to agree to his terms for the deal and considers it a huge knock against his public credibility. And yet despite all this, he still wanted to try to work something out with Mullen so he can be paid the $5M that he believes the company owes him.
Let’s take what Hardge has previously claimed at face value.
He owns the patents and IP for the EMM. So all intellectual RIGHTS and LICENSING is apparently set.
He has multiple independent test results proving that the EMM does what he claims. So all VALIDATION of the technology is apparently set.
He has deals with Saudis and multiple other Middle East countries ready to provide BILLIONS of dollars. He even has individual investors wanting to put “a billion dollars” into his company (15:20 mark). So all FINANCING needs are apparently set.
He has an international manufacturing company that is ready to make tens or hundreds of thousand of EMM devices starting within 4 weeks (2:36 mark). So all MANUFACTURING needs are apparently set.
So why does Hardge need Mullen Automotive to sign any agreement at all?
What does Mullen bring to the table that Hardge did not already have in place?
He claimed that all these international agreements were in the works and ready to go BEFORE Mullen entered the picture. The only thing that Mullen would seem to do is take 51% of the revenue. LH claims he wanted to share these deals to “take the load off”. But if he had BILLIONS in financing commitments, shouldn't he be able to hire ALL the necessary labor and engineering expertise he could ever need?
Credit to Cal for asking Hardge (26:27 mark) why he doesn’t do the deal direct with the Saudis. Hardge claims he needs the engineering staff and facilities that Mullen has to do the work installing the EMM. Hardge’s response is just unbelievable, and again credit to Cal for trying to pursue it a bit further with Hardge in asking him why that would be such a big problem if the return is so much greater. Hardge claims that he would have to hire “consultants to do all of that in the midst of an already hectic business schedule.” But that’s just a basic part of running a business!
And then at the 28:48 mark Hardge talks about Mullen’s vans. Here’s a key statement Hardge makes: “They didn’t have a manufacturing for the installation,
I went and got my own that I already was working on. Now we got a deal, they can provide any numbers around the world, international manufacture.” It sure seems like Hardge knows how to arrange for manufacturing and installation deals, which directly contradicts his explanation just a couple minutes earlier for why he wants to work with Mullen.
Hardge has also said on multiple occasions that the EMM is “easy to install” and “plug and play” such that “a high school drop-out could install this system in these vehicles” (8:15 mark in the Mullen Troy livestream). In other FB livestreams, he spoke about the EMM as an aftermarket device that the buyer would install on their own vehicle, just like putting on a window shade or cell phone cover.
In addition, Hardge himself said as reported by Cal in Twitter space meeting that Mullen engineers apparently didn't know how to do any wiring stuff, and that when he was at Mullen's Troy facility doing work on the vans that he had to do it all himself, or something along those lines. Not exactly a sign of confidence in Mullen's technical staff, is it?
It makes no sense for Hardge to say (2:09 mark) that it would take the Saudis 2-3 years to build a factory in Michigan to manufacture the EMM, given that he has said previously that the cost to make the EMM is just $85 and can be built using off-the-shelf parts from Home Depot or Lowes.
There are multiple clear contradictions between what Hardge claims he has on hand (deals, financing, manufacturing) and the degree of effort that he has put in to try to get paid $5M from Mullen to finalize the Definitive Agreement. Hence my play on Shakespeare in the title of this post: Methinks Larry doth protest too much. It seems unbelievable that anyone that genuinely has all the deals and such that Lawrence claims he has lined up would still be sticking around trying to work out some sort of agreement with Mullen. I believe that Hardge was trying to pull a fast one on Mullen from the start, and unfortunately for the company and its shareholders David Michery bought into the con and dragged Mullen into the last several weeks of buffoonery involving LH. And the damage has already been done.

2023.06.07 20:18 Distant_Cold_Moon G25 Coordinates (genetics)
Hello,
I'm interested in making a (public) list of Lebanese G25 coordinates to use it with tools such as Vahaduo to compare it to my own. If you did a genealogy test and have your coordinates and you are willing to share, it would be great. Note that those coordinates are different from your actual DNA data and they can only be used to calculate distances to other samples.
If you didn't do any DNA tests (23andMe, AncestryDNA, etc...) please ignore this post.
Thanks.

2023.06.07 20:17 ArsenicNomad Should I stay or Should I go?
I've never posted on reddit so lets see how it goes.
For context, I'm 22F living with my mom who's around 55 years old. She's currently legally blind after a really bad case of Covid-19 in 2021. My stepfather currently lives in the US, working a job there to sustain himself. We don't live in the US cause my mom doesn't feel comfortable going to a place where she can't speak the language and won't be able to find a job. My moms been independent since the age of 17, a business woman through and through.
I use to live in the US with some family but moved back to our country to take care of my mom since my step father had to move to the US for work and someone needs to be there for her. I worked with my mom in her company for about a year, but now as clients see our situation they've stopped giving us much work. A few months back I started working elsewhere thanks to a family friend from my dads side who gave me a great job offer, discussed it with my mom since she had to plan for my absence since she has to now employ someone to help her with what I use to do. She's managed to keep the company going despite me now only being able to work with her after my usual work or weekends. Its a event production company so that's why there some odd weekend hours.
Anyway, we had to sell the house we live in due to slow down in business and even with my new job and the family business we don't make enough to cover expenses. We have an old vacation home we got for a small airbnb venture we started a few years back. She wants to move there since with the sell of the house we can pay off the loan of that other house and live comfortably. The only thing is that its 2 and a half hours away from the city we live in.
After moving here to take care of her I made new friends, a community, got into a new sport, restarted some almost forgotten friendship and started a relationship with a wonderful person. I don't know if I'm ready to move away again. I feel as if I'd loose everything I built again to go and take care of my mom. But she's blind and moving into a small town with three dogs and is going to try to continue working there.
I'd be leaving my new job, my relationship, my friends, some family that I have here to go to a town and restart. The only other option I have is to rent an apartment with at least 2 other room mates to be able to afford living in the city, money would be very tight. Which I could definitely do but my mom is also the closest person I have in this city. I came back to this country for her when she needed me. I'm torn. My relationship is fairly new as well, around 6 to 7 months but I've never done long (or would it be medium?) distance before and we're both very physical touch people. I've also never lived alone in a city. I could venture now, I know I'd be very lonely but would leaving be lonelier? I honestly don't know what to do, cause I have a sense of duty to my mother to take care of her and not leave a blind woman alone in an unfamiliar place but I also I just don't want to go back to the start like I did two years ago, when I first moved back when It felt like I lost all my connections.
I guess I just need another viewpoint on the situation. Maybe I'm being selfish wanting to stay since I wouldn't have to once again be the primary caretaker for my mom. Maybe I should view the move as a new adventure and go for it. Maybe I could get my mom settled and move to the city again, but If I left to get her settled I'd pretty much loose my current job. Idk.

2023.06.07 20:16 CalmGains All you need to know about today's earnings
Here at WSB, I'm sure all of you guys are watching GameStop (GME) stock, as the video game retailer will report its first-quarter fiscal 2023 earnings today after the market close. Despite demonstrating some impressive growth over the past month, the stock has struggled to retain momentum.
However, if the company can beat Wall Street’s modest expectations, GME stock has a chance to rise. Given its meme stock status, GameStop tends to garner skepticism from experts, even on its best days. As InvestorPlace’s Eddie Pan reports,
institutional sentiment toward GME remains mixed, even as the stock has risen since Q1. Additionally, Ray Dalio’s Bridgewater Associates
recently divested from its GameStop position, generating further uncertainty.
Earlier this month, CEO
Matt Furlong released a letter to shareholders, detailing the company’s plan and focus for the year.
“In fiscal 2022, GameStop’s operating environment dramatically changed due to the onset of inflation, rising interest rates and macro headwinds,” said Furlong. “Rather than stand still, we pivoted to cutting costs, optimizing inventory and enhancing the customer experience.”
That’s exactly what the company has been doing. In Europe, for example, GameStop has placed an emphasis on cutting costs by initiating exits and partial wind-downs. GameStop has also focused on forming partnerships with other retail and gaming companies in order to accelerate efficient top-line growth. To drive revenue, the company has explored building market share in high-margin related businesses, like collectibles and toys.
Now, with earnings coming up, investors will get a preview of GameStop’s cost-cutting efforts. This is not the type of post you wanna skip onto the tl;dr portion. These details are going to be key, so let's get into it.
For the quarter,
analyst have forecasted revenue of $1.358 billion, which would imply a year-over-year (YoY) decline of 1.45% and a quarter-over-quarter decline of about 39%. During the past few years, Q4 has been a strong quarter for GameStop, likely due to the holiday season. This can explain the quarter-over-quarter decline.
Meanwhile, adjusted net income is expected to be a loss of $36 million, while adjusted EPS is expected to be a loss of 12 cents. Analyst believe that GAAP EPS will be a loss of 15 cents. A year ago, GameStop reported an adjusted net income loss of $158 million and an adjusted EPS loss of 52 cents.
Just as important, if not more important, than earnings is guidance. For the second quarter, analysts have forecasted revenue of $1.155 billion, which reflects YOY growth of 1.67% and a quarterly decline of about 15%. Adjusted net income is expected to be a loss of $62 million, which would equate to an adjusted EPS loss of 21 cents.
For the full year of 2023, analysts believe that revenue will be $5.908 million, down by 0.33% YoY. Adjusted net income is expected to be a loss of $91 million, while adjusted EPS is expected to be a loss of 30 cents.
Things to Note: Short Selling Ban GameStop fans have been watching closely for updates on a pending short selling ban. If regulators successfully enact a policy that prohibits the practice of short selling, it may put an end to some of GameStop’s problems, as it is a popular target for short sellers.
GameStop management will likely address the potential short-selling ban during the June 7 earnings call, offering insights as to how they will handle operations if the bill becomes a law.
Things to Note: Plans for Web.3.0 Gaming In 2022, GameStop turned plenty of heads when it ventured into the world of NFTs. You know, those fungus tokens or whatever? Hype around this controversial commodity has since died down, but the company still is digitally innovating.
It recently announced a partnership with the Telos Foundation to integrate blockchain technology into its “upcoming Web3 game launcher.” This new development certainly has the potential to bolster GME stock if executed correctly. This foray into Web 3.0 will likely also be a point of focus during the earnings call, as investors will want to know the company’s plans for scaling its new launcher and improving the gaming experience through blockchain. Additionally, it may also mean updates on GameStop’s NFT marketplace and its impact on the company’s profitability.
Why GameStop Could Go Parabolic Last quarter, GameStop caught bears off-guard by reporting earnings per share of 16 cents. Analysts had predicted the video game retailer would post a loss per share of 13 cents. GameStop's unexpectedly profitable quarter caused GME shares to soar about 50% after the earnings announcement.
Last quarter, one of the few analysts covering GameStop, Wedbush's
Michael Pachter, provided a $6.50 price target for GME, with an "Underperform" rating. Pachter claimed that shares were "at trading levels that are disconnected from the fundamentals of the business due to irrational support from some retail investors."
Although GameStop shares are still trading 40% higher than they were before the previous earnings release — and 73% above the Wedbush analyst's target — Pachter has
reinforced his bearish thesis for Q1 earnings and left his price target intact.
Holiday sales largely contributed to GameStop's fourth-quarter net profit — making it questionable whether the video game retailer can pull off that feat for the second quarter in a row. But if GameStop does report a net profit in Q1, it will be a catalyst for the stock's retail investors to drive share prices higher. Currently,
short sellers hold about 21% of GameStop's outstanding shares. As demand for shorting the stock has reduced dramatically since March,
borrow fees for GME have dropped from 40% to 7.6%. But because the company continues to attract short sellers, these fees may increase.
With the stock outperforming the S&P 500 by about 30%, GME shorts will likely accumulate mark-to-market losses this year. This, combined with high borrow fees, will likely result in a short squeeze.
Update on DRS Numbers Besides a potential second consecutive quarterly net profit, GameStop's shareholder base is looking forward to another piece of information: the number of GME shares registered with Computershare, the company's transfer agent.
In recent quarters, GameStop investors have increasingly registered their shares directly with Computershare via the
Direct Registration System (DRS). With this service, shareholders do not need to hold shares through a broker.
In addition to giving holders the autonomy to have their shares registered in their name, recording shares through the DRS also reduces short sellers' ability to borrow GameStop shares. That is because, unlike brokers, transfer agents cannot lend shares to short sellers.
Since the third quarter of 2021,
GameStop has disclosed the number of shares registered with the transfer agent in the quarterly filings. In the most recent annual filing, 76 million GameStop shares were registered with the transfer agent. Considering the size of GameStop's float, about 25% of all GME shares outstanding are held beyond brokers and banks.
Does this affect the stock's trading volume? Yes. If you look at GameStop's trading volume history, it is clear that there has been a decline in activity since May of last year.
Check this chart, data from yahoo finance. It is impossible to say with certainty that GameStop's recent volume drop is due to investors using the transfer agent to keep their shares away from short sellers. But, we can say that if GameStop reports that more shares have been registered through the DRS, retail shareholders could send the stock higher.
What does the chart say? GameStop shares have rallied higher since the start of May, with a supportive trendline following the share price higher. We can see the stock came close to testing $25 on several occasions last week and this could be a key level to watch considering it has held as a reliable ceiling since late last year, apart from one brief move above here after it posted that surprise profit in the last quarter. A move above here would pave the way for the stock to climb above $27.
On the downside, a slip below the supportive trendline risks seeing the stock unravel back toward the lows seen at the start of May of $18, with the 2023 lows back in play below that.
What I'm doing for earnings? All the research is telling me to get calls. I'm gonna be dropping a significant portion of my portfolio into GME 6/9 30c for $100 each. Then I'll watch the stock at 4pm, and hope for the best. That being said, it's up to you guys to read this and come to your own conclusions. IV is very high so it's better to go for a spread, regardless of what you choose.

2023.06.07 20:16 avb0101 Outdoor Cage Setup - Do it right the first time!
Finally got my outdoor setup mostly complete. Words of advice to any newbie (like me) who wants to start hitting balls in your backyard.... do it right the first time. I could have saved hundreds of dollars had I just went with the right solution first.
Money I wasted:
- Original net was too small (10 x 7) ~$200
- Additional netting to protect my walls and windows ~ $100
- More additional netting to protect my neighbors from skyrocketed driver shots ~ $100
- Crappy hitting mat from Dicks ~ $60
- Broken window (still waiting on an estimate). This happened AFTER I added all the extra netting (the ball found a 2 inch gap in front of the net). ~200
This doesn't mention all the time I wasted trying to build something that didn't really work, plus tearing it down and putting it back up every time I wanted to use it. What a pain in the...!
So, the cage is the big expense but it allows me to actually hit balls inside of it which offers a lot of protection. There is also enough distance to use the Garmin R10 when hitting inside of the cage. There are still a few modifications I want to do to make the cage more secure like foam around the back poles and something to keep the netting from drifting too far back where a pole hit is possible. Hitting a driver shot into a pole is no joke and the last thing I want is for someone to get hurt.
All in (minus the Garmin) the cage/mat setup is about $1500.
Parbuster Mongo Cage - $920. This includes Netting, Poles and Hanger Kit and it includes $120 shipping. I also had a $50 discount. I live in FL and they shipped from WA so the distance couldn't get any farther. Shipping might be cheaper for others who live closer to WA.
SimTurf Ez Tee 4x6 mat - $455
Cheapo Artificial Turf - $100 at Home Depot.
I've saved $80 this week alone walking into my backyard and hitting balls. This will pay for itself in a year.

Figuring out the Meaning of Istikhara Dua Wazifa for Affection:
Istikhara Dua Wazifa for Adoration is a strong profound practice in Islam that looks for Allah's direction and endowments for issues connected with adoration and connections. It consolidates the ideas of Istikhara (looking for Allah's direction) and Wazifa (petition and supplication) to conjure help from above, draw in affection, and resolve gives that might be causing distance or disturbance in a relationship. It is a way to look for Allah's leniency and help with tracking down adoration, reestablishing adoration, or reinforcing a current love bond.
The Course of Istikhara Dua Wazifa for Affection:
a. Truthfulness and Unadulterated Goals: Start by purging your expectations and looking for Allah's direction with genuineness. Guarantee that your aims behind looking for adoration are unadulterated and as per Islamic lessons.

2023.06.07 20:15 illbeokay20 Every night a new dream yet same theme... it's always a separation
My bb,
Last night you appeared in another dream of mine, a whole gathering of people most of whom I knew. From a distance I spotted you, I was nervous yet happy to approach you. You were dressed in a black suit and asked me to dance, and so we did. Even though we have never danced together in real life. You asked me if I missed you and I nodded, I hesitantly asked if we could resume talking to each other daily and you gave me the same answer as real life...a no. The dream faded into nothingness. I wakeup with heaviest heart knowing I would never get to see you again.
P.S. come back, life goes on, but it's colorless.

2023.06.07 20:14 YYCoconut Any Canadian Actuarists here know how Overland Water Zone Rating is determined for home insurance?
So I live in Canada and my home insurance is up for renewal. For context my house is a walkout that backs onto a community storm pond though there's a good amount of elevation and distance between my house and the pond.
I was shopping for 3rd party quotes and was shocked that my current insurer jacked up the insurance by almost 1k, citing that the Overland Water Zone Rating for my property is now at the highest rating.
I questioned my insurance broker and they basically told me to do my own research, and basically said to the effect that this pricing was based on sound statistical proven data and approved by some "Insurance Council". So as far as I can find online, Overland Water coverage definition from Sonnet:
Overland water is an optional coverage. This means it’s not automatically included in home insurance policies. Depending on the provider, it typically covers loss or damage to your home and/or personal belongings caused by fresh water coming in through your windows and doors at ground level.
Fresh water comes from rivers or lakes, or it could be the result of heavy rain, spring run-off or melting snow or ice.
I'm absolutely baffled by this, and I asked for documentation to review this to no avail. So I was wondering if there are any actuarists here that can help shed some light on how this is assessed please? I would've thought trying to predict future weather patterns would be a factor in this? I don't want to jump to any other conclusions because right now I'm more inclined to cancel that coverage.
TYIA!

2023.06.07 20:13 attckoftheclns Online Tutoring Advice
I was thinking of doing online tutoring while studying at university but I'm struggling to find good advice online. So I have a couple questions that I would love some advice on!
Should I do it through one of those websites like MyTutor? If so, what websites would be good to go with? I want one that won't take a huge cut. Or should I just do it myself and handle everything on my own, and make my own social media/website etc? I'm pretty good at that kind of stuff, and I'm quite lucky as I'm from a small village with lots of kids who I have babysat and seen grow up so I would hope that would give me a good place to start with tutees.
I also was curious whether there's a demand for Key Stage 3 tutors? I plan on tutoring GCSE students and hopefully KS3 students as I prefer tutoring younger teens/kids.
Any other advice would be massively helpful!
Thank you! ❤️

2023.06.07 20:11 outlawedbutfree Has anyone else ever seen something like this? My sighting of a UFO, central Colorado 2003.
| In the summer of 2003 I was 11 years old. Sitting in the window of my bedroom at around 6-7 pm I saw a UFO come down behind my neighbors house, silently hover about 40 feet off the ground for about 15 seconds, then take off instantaneously at extremely high speeds in an arc pattern into the sky. It was diamond shaped, gray, with three red lights. One on top, and two on bottom. I remember thinking at the time is looked like the foot of a gundam (I loved gundam wing at the time) without the rest of the body. My neighbors house was about 100 yards away and this thing came down right behind it and hovered just slightly over it, maybe 40 feet off the ground. From this distance and perspective I estimate it to be about 30 feet tall and 10 feet wide at its base. For years I thought I was misremembering or maybe just a kid who like gundam wing too much, but then I met someone who told me they had seen a ufo before too. Without telling them my story they told me about what they saw and described the ship. What they described was exactly what I saw. Has anyone else seen something similar? submitted by outlawedbutfree to UFObelievers [link] [comments] |
2023.06.07 20:10 DryAttention4511 Bf of 3.5 years left me because he saw himself with someone else
Also, whenever he took a leave and was able to come home during his time in the military our relationship was absolutely perfect and all those issues we had in long distance were gone. All he could say was "I'm sorry." Also one more thing, all of my friends and family didn't really like him for all the stuff he put me through, so he also said he wanted a clean slate since he messed up so bad, although that excuse still doesn't make sense to me because he could have figured that one out ages ago too, lol. If anyone can help me process this or has any words of wisdom I would SO appreciate it.

2023.06.07 20:10 notnotinterested Do I want inlaws to babysit 6mo old every week while they live 1h away?
Hi all, I'm a FTM and currently 27 weeks pregnant. We've been looking at our options on how to combine work and a baby later on, and are hoping for MIL to babysit one day a week (my mom takes another day, I take 2, husband takes 1). This way we could avoid the super expensive option of daycare.
We we're always thinking/assuming she was going to come to our place one day a week while my husband would work from home, to watch the baby and help out.
Since inlaws live about an hour away, she wasn't sure she'd be up for such a weekly commitment. Understandably so, although we were a little disappointed since we were really excited for her be able to spend time with the baby as well.
Tonight she proposed we bring the baby to her instead. Since this won't be possible to do on the morning of, before work starts, we'd have to bring him every Sunday night and pick him up Monday after work.
I totally get that the effort of driving the distance should be on our part, and we're willing to do that, but I don't know how I feel about missing my baby for a night + day, every week, with over an hour distance in between..
I'm lucky enough to get maternity leave until March (due beginning of Sept), so he'd be about 6 months before this arrangement takes effect.
My husband is talking about all the perks such as baby bonding with grandparents, weekly date nights for us and saving money on daycare. But I can't help but feeling I'd miss my baby a lot and have anxiety over how far away he would be and it being every week..
How should I feel about this? Is this a good deal?
Don't get me wrong, I'm so grateful she wants to help out in the first place, it just never crossed my mind to have my baby be gone like that every week.
Any advice is welcome!

Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing
This topic explores the integration of current research evidence into clinical decision-making. It covers the importance of staying updated with the latest research, identifying credible sources, implementing evidence-based interventions, and evaluating outcomes to improve nursing care.
Evidence-based practice (EBP) is an essential nursing approach that combines the best available research evidence, clinical expertise, and patient preferences to guide clinical decision-making and enhance patient outcomes. It focuses on the utilization of current research findings to inform nursing interventions, policies, and procedures.
Key elements of evidence-based nursing practice include:
- Research Evidence: This refers to the most recent and relevant research studies, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses that demonstrate the efficacy of nursing interventions, diagnostic procedures, and patient care outcomes. Evidence of research can be obtained from credible sources such as scholarly journals, databases, and guidelines for evidence-based practice.
- Clinical Expertise: Nurses contribute to the decision-making process with their clinical expertise, knowledge, and experience. This requires integrating their practical skills, critical thinking skills, and knowledge of patient preferences into the framework of evidence-based practice.
- Patient Values and Preferences: In evidence-based practice, it is essential to recognize and incorporate the values, beliefs, and preferences of individual patients. This involves gaining an understanding of the patient's unique circumstances, cultural heritage, and personal objectives in order to provide individualized care.
The implementation of evidence-based nursing practice typically entails the following steps:
- Asking Clinical Questions: Formulating well-defined and answerable clinical questions is a crucial starting point. Questions are often framed using the PICO (Patient/Problem, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) framework to guide the search for relevant evidence.
- Literature Search: Conducting a comprehensive search for the best available evidence related to the clinical question. This involves using databases, scholarly journals, and trusted sources to locate research studies, systematic reviews, and clinical practice guidelines.
- Appraisal of Evidence: Evaluating the quality, validity, and relevance of the identified research articles. This step involves critically analyzing study designs, sample sizes, data collection methods, statistical analyses, and potential biases.
- Integration of Evidence: Combining the findings from multiple studies and assessing their applicability to the specific patient population or clinical setting. This involves synthesizing the evidence to determine the most appropriate and effective nursing interventions.
- Application of Evidence: Implementing the evidence-based interventions or recommendations into nursing practice. This includes adapting the evidence to the specific patient's context, considering any potential barriers or facilitators, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Evaluation and Continuous Improvement: Assessing the outcomes of the implemented interventions and evaluating their effectiveness. This step involves monitoring patient outcomes, identifying areas for improvement, and adjusting the nursing practice based on the feedback received.
Remember that this is only a concise overview of evidence-based nursing practice. Feel free to inquire for more precise information or if you have any other inquiries!

Impact of Technology in Nursing Practice
This topic explores how technology advancements have affected nursing care, patient outcomes, and ethical considerations. It could cover areas such as electronic health records, telehealth, wearable devices, and the integration of technology into nursing workflows.
In recent years, technological advancements have had a profound impact on nursing practice, transforming how nurses provide care, communicate, and manage patient data.
Here are a few significant ways in which technology has affected nursing practice:
EHRs have supplanted paper-based documentation systems and are now an integral element of nursing practice. Electronic health records (EHRs) allow nurses to access patient information, monitor medical histories, document care provided, and share information with other healthcare professionals. This improves care coordination, increases accuracy, and facilitates the exchange of patient information between various healthcare settings.
- Telehealth and Remote Monitoring: Telehealth technology enables nurses to provide remote care, bridging the divide between patients and healthcare providers. It enables video conferencing and digital platforms for virtual consultations, remote monitoring of vital signs, and the delivery of healthcare services. Telehealth has expanded access to care, particularly for rural or marginalized patients, and enhanced healthcare outcomes through early detection and prompt interventions.
- Wearable Devices and Health Apps: The proliferation of wearable devices, such as fitness monitors and smartwatches, and health-related mobile applications have enabled patients to actively partake in their own health management. The data collected by these devices can be utilized by nurses to monitor patients' physical activity, sleep patterns, vital signs, and medication compliance. This data can facilitate personalized care planning, health education, and preventative measures.
- Point-of-Care Technology: Point-of-care technology consists of devices such as portable diagnostic instruments, barcode scanners, and infusion pumps. These tools allow nurses to collect immediate and accurate patient data, confirm medication administration, and conduct diagnostic tests in real time. By providing nurses with up-to-date information to guide their clinical decisions, point-of-care technology improves efficiency, reduces errors, and enhances patient safety.
- Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) are computer-based instruments that support clinical decision-making by providing evidence-based recommendations, alerts, and reminders. These systems allow nurses to receive real-time alerts regarding potential drug interactions, allergies, and preventative care interventions. CDSSs advance evidence-based practice, minimize errors, and improve patient outcomes.
- The use of robotics and automation in healthcare settings is progressively increasing. Such duties as medication delivery, patient transportation, and disinfection can be aided by robots. Automation technologies expedite workflows, reduce manual duties, and free up nurses' time to focus on direct patient care.
- Data Analytics and Health Informatics: As the volume of healthcare data continues to grow, nurses can use data analytics and health informatics tools to extract meaningful insights, identify trends, and make informed decisions. Data analysis can assist in recognizing disease outbreak patterns, monitoring quality indicators, and enhancing patient outcomes.
It is essential to recognize that the incorporation of technology into nursing practice raises ethical concerns, such as patient confidentiality, data security, and assuring equitable access to technology. The impact of technology on nursing practice has resulted in numerous positive outcomes, including increased efficiency, enhanced communication, improved access to information, and increased patient engagement. To provide high-quality, patient-centered care, nurses must continue to adjust to technological advances, embrace continuous learning, and effectively leverage technology. Please contact me if you require additional information or have any other queries!

2023.06.07 20:09 Salt-Pomegranate-840 How to Create a safer offline wallet with your Mobile or Desktop/Laptop.
It's a shame to see many with $thousands saving gone because try to save a few lousy bucks on Hardware cold wallet.
Here is alternative for those stingy or low fund investors who can't afford a cold wallet.
1a) Download trusted reputable multi-wallet, preferably the wallet with individual Private Key available for user. Such as Atomic Wallet, Math Wallet, Exodus etc...
1b) A USB pendrive or SD memory card or other form of physical drive.
2) Make sure the wallet can be run offline ( native data access or WiFi ).
3) Create Coins or Tokens.
4) Access that created Wallet Passphrase, Private Key then Copy, screen shot or export to the #1b above.
5) MAKE SURE PUBLIC ADDRESS + PK or PassPhrase exactly match.
6) Check the Coin/ Token native blockchain explorer ensure the created address registered.
7) Create a QR for the Coin/Token address for easy access.
8) Unplug the Pendrive or remove the SD memory card ....
9) Delete that create wallet from Wallet, best is uninstall the app entirely. Wipe the associate files if using Desktop or Laptop. Then reinstall it.
Now you've an offline Cold Wallet.
Very important: Use this wallet as personal inter-wallet transfer only. Do not access any in-wallet DEX, CEX or any form of DeFi instrument...with it preventing compromise.
Example: If the Ethereum in cold storage needed, temporarily input the key in MetaMask, then send it to your dispensable Wallet such as swap or trade or DeFi. Delete/Wipe all the information once funds transferred. Same goes other asset.

2023.06.07 20:08 vesnin_sergey Nothing gets done: why delegating before vacation doesn't work.
| https://preview.redd.it/3po53pc6zm4b1.jpg?width=832&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ac3a78dc11a182dfe506a8b1569f5a8937166100 Menteora recommends delegation: Need to feel rested after returning from vacation? Can't you believe your eyes when you look at the pile of tasks that you assigned to your colleagues during your absence that never got done? You are not alone. Of course, the temptation to blame others in this situation is excellent, but much more to blame yourself. Your indignation probably means that you need to revise the very approach to delegation fundamentally. And could you do it long before you go on vacation? To delegate means to entrust someone with a job to assign responsibility. At the heart of this process is the transfer of authority to some person. However, managers often confuse proper delegation with simply asking employees to do something. They, consciously or not, give the impression that the word "belongs" to them and that employees are only needed to help get it done. This understanding of delegation creates problems for both sides: people need a sense of responsibility for the job, and their supervisors are severely overburdened by their busy schedules. Managers with this mindset often complain about their subordinates' lack of initiative and responsibility. And while their frustrations may be justified, it is not always the employees who are the root cause of the problem. Managers may need to change their approach to delegation. First, looking deeper at the problem, going beyond the work itself is necessary. Yes, a clear understanding of the essence of the tasks is essential for any manager, but it is only the first step to their fulfillment. Before assigning duties to employees, the manager should consider dividing all the work into related parts to represent a system and not just isolated tasks. For example, a technical manager needs to understand how prioritization, programming, quality control, and customer communications affect each other and the overall effectiveness of his or her department. The next step is to distribute these components among the employees. Naturally, this process takes into account available resources and competencies. But to be truly effective, it must also contribute to employee development. A technical director might, for example, assign a key customer contact to his lead programmer so that he can gain experience and develop his consulting skills. If an employee receives an assignment that meets his or her needs, it strengthens your relationship with him or her. Such an assignment will be accepted and completed with much more involvement than a job you assign him to reduce his workload. When discussing these assignments, please focus first on the employee and only then on the work itself. In order, for such a conversation to be successful, you must: - place the assignment in the overall context of the work so that the employee understands why you are assigning the task and how it contributes to his or her personal development in the organization;
- explain the key deliverables you expect to achieve, why they are essential, and how they will affect the company;
- discuss precisely how the task will be carried out, make a clear plan of the work, define its stages and critical points, and provide for discussion of intermediate results;
- use words that let your employee know that you care about their development and success first and foremost.

2023.06.07 20:07 dkcrochet My boss is trying to keep me under his thumb through my cell phone
I am having this problem which I have tried to put off as long as I could. I am not an employee anymore, but am an independent contractor. I left as an employee 5+ years ago because they were moving away. There is no HR, it’s a very small company with 2 employees, then me.
I’ve always had these control issues from my boss. I don’t know if I should just shrug it off to “keep the peace” and give him what he wants? I do play into some of his little games because I know what he’s doing and he keeps giving me work. That, and he’s over there and I’m over here.
But trying to make me text him every time I email him or him texting and calling after hours and on weekends is absurd. I don’t think that should be tolerated.
I got a text the other day at 6pm when the office closes at 4 and it was not urgent. I left it until the next day, and didn’t address it. I just gave him a call instead of texting back and did it the next day. But now he wants me to text him every time I communicate with him through email and he’s trying to say they have an email issue- but only with me!! So I made a new email account with a different provider. But he’s still claiming I’m the only one who isn’t receiving his emails and he’s not receiving mine. He wants to text me and call me at these off hours asking if I’ve received things. I don’t believe it because I watch him do this to others the entire 10 (edit - I put 15, but that’s how long I’ve worked with him in total) years I worked with him in the office. I see the little games, he has a history of doing this even to friends.
So do I play along? Like honestly what’s he going to do if I block his number over the weekend and he’s looking for me and I say oh I didn’t realize when did you call? Or what did you text to me?
Then part of me wonders if I’m crazy because I get to work from home, away from him, and shouldn’t rock the boat. But I know how bad he can get and I need to keep distance. It’s actually been relatively fine the entire time I’ve worked from home. He plays his games a few times a year. And there is no way I would have to go into the office because they moved out of state. Which is why I started working from home.
