Morning / Evening all ~
First of all I really appreciate it if you get through this post and any help is so beyond appreciated. My names Max I’ve been posting on and off for a bit, learnt a lot since I’ve been here. I’ve had sleep apnea for over a decade but it’s only been diagnosed back in September 2022. It was diagnosed moderate to severe but I very much suspect it’s severe as my sleep study was not good and my last study detected no REM sleep.
I was only prescribed a MAD device which I received 2 weeks ago. I have been monitoring my sleep with the SnoreLab app and whilst I know snoring and OSA are two different things sadly I am still snoring like a banshee with both the MAD in and mouthtape. I am an athletic guy, by no means overweight - but like many in this sub I am really, really struggling. I’m struggling with driving, I don’t think I’m getting REM - (maybe a little on my side) and I’m waking up so depressed. I cannot focus on simple cognitive exercise (I’m a carpenter so I often don’t notice how bad this is because my work is physical) but when it comes to reading a book or simple things like that I’m useless - but basically all the symptoms I see here from many many people.
I believe the issues stem from my jaw and neck region. I have a low hyoid and slightly recessed jaw as well as jaw imbalance / TMJ issues (all be them minor).
What I wanted to ask today as I have been getting nowhere with my GP is any advice in navigating my annual follow up appointment tomorrow with Guys & Thomas sleep specialist. Does my experience echo that of anyone else’s? If so how would you proceed? I’m desperate to see a maxillofacial specialist or ENT but these requests seem to be met with resistance and go nowhere. I don’t want to make too much of a fuss in case my drivers license is taken away.. but what I’m really after is progress in what to me see obvious next steps because it’s just ruining me.

Tommorow morning im going into the lab for an am cortisol blood draw. The thing is my insomnia has been way worse than its ever been its currently 3 am and im unsure if ill be able to fall asleep tonight. How does my sleep tonight effect my blood draw tomorrow? If i dont sleep will that ruin the test, or if i get very little sleep? My normal scedule isnt normal i tend to sleep at like 2am ish and wake up at like 3pm and I dont know what that means for an am cortisol test.

What a pleasant experience I had ! I had never been on a train in my life ,subways yes but not a passenger train ,long story short our flights got cancelled repeatedly in Pearson and could tell by the amount of people in the service line to AC a massive backlog of passengers had started, so I we decided let's take the express to union and hope for the best
Well Reese behind the counter was our saviour to say the least he set it up so our cancellation from air Canada covered the one way ticket cost (I had no clue it was even a thing) ,boarding was simple and fast the staff on both trains were very polite and helpful . I've been dealing with anxieties ever since I was diagnosed . I read a lot on this platform and fatigued is one of the symptoms that comes on with end stage.. I learnt as kidneys decline it produce less epo causing anemia which causes fatigue.. I've been feeling lightheaded . .. I don't have anemia according to lab results not even on boarder line but I kinda feel it.. I'm on losartan and stopped a while but symptoms persist. My BP ranges from 110 to 130.. I go on with my daily routine but for a moment ckd comes across my mind I start to feel like I'm feeling fatigued. How do y'all fatigue feels like, is it my imagination How do y'all also deals with anxiety and depression. I have an appointment with my neph not until next month

Hello! In this post I'll tell you all about Factorio and why I want it. I am unfortunately not able to get this game for myself but hopefully there's a kind soul in this sub who can buy the game for me. Please excuse any spelling mistakes as English is not my first language.
About Factorio
You play as a character known only as the engineer. You crash land on an alien planet and the objective is "simple". Build a rocket and escape the planet. With only a pickaxe in hand you start off by mining ores, chopping trees and crafting transport belts and inserters by hand. Labs are used to research new technology and are fueled by science packs. Soon, you'll be able to make machines that mine ores or craft things for you. At the start of the game, things are mostly powered by coal but in a short time you'll be able to research and craft steam engines and boilers which turn water and coal into electricity. Everything in your base creates pollution and unfortunately, on this alien planet are, aliens. So called "biters" that have hives which absorb pollution to create more biters. more hives and evolve. You'll be able to defend yourself with a wide range of defenses such as turrets. Gun turrets, flamethrower turrets, laser turrets or artillery turrets all of which need ammo that can be crafted manually or automated. Later on, you'll be able to research modular armor customizable with personal laser defense, energy shields and more. You can also customize your world to your liking. You can completely disable enemy spawns or have them surround you right at the start of the game.
Factorio also supports multiplayer. Players can solve problems and build massive factories together, or they can go against each other in a PvP mode.
Why do I want Factorio?
Well, for starters, because it is an IMMENSELY satisfying game. With more than a 100,000 positive reviews on Steam, it has endless replayability, tons of QOL features, large overhaul mods like Krastorio 2 or Space Exploration for even more hours to sink into the game. It is a very polished game and you could find a bug in the fabric of reality before finding a bug in Factorio. I can easily see myself pour more than a 100 hours into the game. I also played the free demo for Factorio and after a couple of minutes, it got me hooked. It scratched an itch that I have not felt for YEARS after looking for many games to play. The only thing I was wondering when playing the demo is: how the hell haven't I found about the game earlier when it's so popular? It's an extremely well executed game and I'd have an absolute blast playing it.

Hello! I have this question which maybe it’s a bit random for this sub (you tell me).
A bit of context: I worked as a lab technician for one year. I knew everyone there for 3 years since I started working with them as a student during my bachelor (at the time volunteer work). I was always very pleased with everyone there since even as a student they would give me credit for my hard work (include my name in posters,congress presentations or papers). I was aware that was something special. This year I decided to not renew my contract and to decline their PhD proposition. The reason: I felt that I was not learning anything new and one of my bosses was such a bully (my mental health was at its worse from the 3 years with them specifically). I decided it was best for everyone just to leave while we are all “friends”. This boss in particular was not please with me leaving and even was upset that I was thinking of doing phd in other places.
My country is not that big so the research world, specially on my topic and area, is quite small. Everyone knows everyone , even if only by name. So I knew my old bosses went to a congress. I googled the congress and saw that the bully boss( the one I worked more closely) was presenting something. The title catch my eye because last year I did a lot of work for them and that sounded like my work presented (molecular biology things - extractions, pcr,all that). I was excited to add another presentation to my cv (at least in my area everyone adds presentation if your name is added to the list. you just underline and put as 1st author the presenter). I Google the abstract so I could know which people to properly add. I was shocked so see that my name was not included….
The samples were from an old project. In that project they sampled male and female fish in 2020(during covid restrictions) and then analyzed only the males (histology and molecular biology). None of that work was done by me. However, what was presented in this congress was the females. The boss told me “why not do it since we have them in the freezer doing nothing?”. So I did the rna extractions, pcr and data analysis of the whole female fish.
So I’m just a bit perplexed that I wasn’t included… I understand that it’s only a congress presentation and that’s not as “important”, but for me (that is just starting) it’s important. I’m not gonna include the presentation on my cv of course…it would be fraudulent..but seems a bit unfair that I can’t do it, since it’s my work being presented… specially knowing this boss in particular …I know they have the tendency to copy my work and just use it in presentation as I previously observed during the years… I won’t die without this presentation in the cv but it’s just the principle of the thing. But maybe I’m exaggerating ..what do you think?

Hi everyone! After 30 years of having a problem free vagina, I recently had my first two encounters with thrush.
I ended up going down the rabbit hole of treatment, and found boric acid which worked so much better than I could have hoped.
I have seen it popping up in this subreddit, and others, that people believe/are worried that boric acid will wipe out the bad AND good bacteria.
Out of professional curiosity as a lab assistant in cytology, and after many hours of reading and talking to some amazing people who have done far more extensive research into the topic, I’ve decided to run a little experiment to really see how boric acid affects lactobacilli.
I took my first sample today, which is what has prompted my enthusiasm for the experiment, and was delighted to find a perfectly healthy looking flora with plenty of lactobacilli, no visible fungal spores, or other alarming bacteria (as confirmed by three cytologists).
I’ll attach a photo in the comments of all the little bacteria hanging out with the squamous cells on the slide.
The further study I’m going to conduct will involve me and one of my friends (so far, hoping I can rope in more people!) and will involve the following samples:

• before boric acid use (at least one month without use)
• after 1 day, 2 days, and 3 days
• 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, and 2 weeks (maybe a month) after last use without any probiotic use.

I’m very excited to be able to contribute in some small way to such a fascinating topic, and hope I’ll be able to bring some peace of mind to people suffering from recurrent thrush and BV that they won’t destroy their microbiome by using boric acid.

With the much embraced pipe updates, I think that maybe it’s time conveyer belts got a little love?
I’ve played factory games in the past that have a vertical conveyer belt to transport items from X level to Y level, but vertically.
I get to the stage of conveyer belts in the game and I’m immediately put off by the mess that they can quickly become. I think it’s my severe OCD of having neatness.
I have a belt bus of 4-5 different individual belts passing through individual items to the assemblers that need it, but imagine how much nicer it would look with 4 belts stacked on each other with 3 vertical conveyers attached to individual belts. At the moment, I have a monstrosity of ramps going up to individual single line belts.
These could be a tier 2 belt addition with research lab 2 or even a late tier 1 addition. But a much welcomed one if it gets implemented 🙏

Hi guys, I'm confused about whether I should take MIIM20002 or PATH20003 for sem 2 this year. I am not planning to major in either but taking these subjects as an elective.
I am 100% more interested in pathology however I heard the coordination for that subject is very bad. I had heard the same thing for the sem 1 subject PATH20001 but still took it cause I was interested in pathology but boy was it frustrating as hell. Legit made me hate the subject because of how badly it was coordinated. Like we still haven't got back some of our Quiz and MST #2 results which we did more than a month ago also, keep in mind exam is coming up. So I want to know if PATH20003 is similarly coordinated to PATH20001 or if it is a bit more manageable and also how hard are the lab reports for this subject, (I have done BCMB20005 and found those Lab reports pretty straightforward).
In contrast, the MIIM subjects are coordinated perfectly and even tho I was not interested in that field, I enjoyed attending lectures for MIIM20001 this sem. However, I wasn't really getting good grades compared to PATH20001 (100% more healthy for my mental health). So just curious if MIIM20002 is easier compared to MIIM20002 does some of the content overlap and is it more microbiology (hate) like this sem or more immunology (love)?

I really really want to get a bambu labs p1p however, I am only 15 and my only source of income is about 30$ a month plus minus a few more or less, I’m not in a situation where I can go to chick fil a and work or any other jobs because of family reasons, and of course parents think that it is expensive. I’ve saved up in the past money from birthdays and stuff to get and ender 3 that I then swapped for a 3 pro, which then microcenter gave me credit and I got a 3 s1 pro which then was swapped for a flsun super racer (which is a great printer) I just feel like I’ve poured enough time into tinkering and I want something that I can just use (minimal real tinkering, more plug and play) and get good fast prints to be able to sell and hopefully make more money for a future upgrade.
My question is: how can I make money to get it? How fast can that be done? And how complicated is it?

I've read some documentation about how PA12 (MJF) will degrade under direct UV. Documents are related to experiments under LAB conditions with an exposure of 1k hours under high UV (like sun in mid August).
What I'm missing is a relationship to real application. For example take into account a PA12 MJF 3D printed key-chain ring attached to a backpack mostly used for trekking. This key-chain have a very low weight on it but it's also thin (3 mm thickness) with a black tin. My key-chain usage can be (rough estimation) about 8 hours 3 times a week, about 1000h/year outside. But of 1000h there will be 50% in summer, and 50% under hot-hours during a day. So 250h under high-uv.
Excluding mechanical wear, what I can expect that will happen over a year of usage? and after 5 or 10?
Will color degrade? Black tin will became grayish?
Will key-chain ring become weak and break?
Or degradation is only appreciable on 24h/7d outside products and negligible on this occasionally outside products?

Currently an undergraduate student (3rd year) studying forestry and remote sensing applications in an international program in Japan. My lab is involved with using remote sensing and GIS to map and manage forests, and I would like to pursue a career in this field.
What are the best GIS related graduate programs for international students? I want to study in Canada after graduating, and if you know of any well known/reputed graduate or masters programs for GIS there, I would greatly appreciate your advice.
ps. I am of Japanese citizenship, but I want to work abroad (especially in canada, since I lived there until high school)

I don’t actually go here so idk how this works but are we seriously supposed to go every single day of the week from 8am-10am?? Or can one get away with just going for the lab days? Idk if my lazy ass can handle the former 😭😭
