After thoroughly enjoying One last Gasp by Mr. Piazza, I had high expectations from this book and I can say without any reservations that A Song For The Void met those expectations and beyond. A Song For The Void is a haunting, terrifying historical horror novel that will keep you turning the pages and jumping at the shadows./ It is not often seen that a well entertaining book also leaves you pondering afterwards, but Mr. Piazza handled the balance like a master. Kudos to you sir.

My father and stepmother were my biggest bullies when I was younger. They would degrade, belittle, and neglect me all throughout my childhood. The only reason I went over there was so my father didn't have to pay as much child support. In my eyes, my mother was my savior. She protected me from my father. In reality, all she did was keep me home some weeks but when I went over there and got punished, she would never care. The one time she did was when I got my electricity taken away. But I always thought that life with my mother and her boyfriend was normal. There were some times I remember fear but I thought they were normal too. I don't know WHY I thought that. Maybe because I didn't have many friends to compare situations to, and everyone around me was telling me children should fear those taking care of them, because thats how you earn respect. I was punched, smacked, thrown against a wall, all for bumping into a wall. My head was hit against a car window repeatedly for questioning him. Once he even pushed my head into a bowl of cereal and kept my head down for what seemedlike forever. Why? Because I didn't want to drink the milk. I remember pain throughout my head and my mother backing him up. So it's no wonder that when I started going to therapy at age 13 my mother said "don't tell her about our private life." I was confused. I was only going for how my father was treating me, it didn't seem to make sense. Since probably 7-8 I have always cleaned the house. Being told? yes but it was very calming when my mom's boyfriend wasn't in the house. I was recently thinking about the way he acts since he was currently going through one of his "fits" and wasn't in the house. I at first was just focused on how he treats my mother. Then I was going on a rant about how he's probably going to pull the same "I'm sorry. You're like my own child to me. I would never hurt you." I went to my room and sat down. I realized I have so many moments where I feel unsafe around him. He makes inappropriate remarks, he threatens, he hits, and then the apology just seems so. Unbelievable. Untrustworthy. Fake. Going over it all through my head it seems impossible to be safe. If I had to choose between them, I don't think I could. Not out of love, out of fear for what would be worse. Emancipation isn't recognized where I live. Itbseems hopeless, like there is no way out. I don't have very long before I turn 18, but I don't know if I can do it.

I started taking Effexor back in October 2022 and now that it’s May I guess it’s run it’s course! Since then it’s definitely been helpful in terms of treating my actual depression, but that’s about it. I still get anxiety (although way less frequently) and the physical symptoms have been extremely annoying. The main thing has been weight gain and headaches! I’ve gained 20+ pounds since being on it. Which for someone with my body type (5’3” and all my weight goes to my stomach and arms) I have become seriously insecure. This has aided to the anxiety I’ve been feeling. The headaches have been the worst though. I get them EVERY SINGLE DAY, and they last for hours. I’ve upped my water intake significantly bc I know it can make you dehydrated but it just was too much. Also have recently developed bad insomnia. Sleep comes after hours of laying in the dark and then when i finally do fall asleep i jolt awake and i’m left feeling restless.
Psychiatrist decided my body isn’t responding well so now we’re switching to Viibryd. Honestly, I’m nervous. I don’t really want to make the switch. He assures me that there is something out there that’s gonna work, but I just keep getting bad physical symptoms. I’m considering asking about Wellbutrin for the weight loss. I’ve gained 45 pounds in less than two years since I started my journey on discovering what antidepressant works for me. Started with Prozac (and then I actually lost a ton of weight when I first started it, but gained a bunch back mostly due to circumstance ((worked a remote job and didn’t leave my bed lol))) but I’ve been much more active recently and watching my calories, but the weight does NOT shed) (any advice?) and then moved to Effexor. Tapering off for a week and then starting Viibryd. Words of encouragement, advice, and personal experiences are welcome!

Swear to God. This makes me crazy. I dated a guy who used to do this me. I'd need to hang up for whatever reason and he'd go, Oh, I forgot to tell you ... and then launch into another 20 minutes and I'd be saying, I need to go, and he'd keep talking. Low-level manipulation but really pissed me off. I have two good friends who do this. One, after I say I need to run and start the goodbye, will start saying that she needs to go also and then tell me what she's going to do. The other will start up another topic until I finally just say, I said I need to go, I'm hanging up. Makes me f'ing crazy.

I really enjoy playing Rimworld, but I find myself starting new colonies once I get around 10 pawns and towards the early mid-game. I want to continue playing but I always want a better map or pawns. Please let me know what keeps you motivated / invested in a single colony. Thanks!

Basically title. With the Other Worker visa category being retrogressed, I was wondering if my employer can also file for a new I-140 for an EB3 Skilled application as I have the education and work experience to qualify, while keeping my existing EB3 Other Worker application.
I read you can have different I-140's for different visa categories but if it was possible with the Other Worker category as well.

On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan?
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do?

1. Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
2. Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at ModCoord - but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.
3. Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
4. Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible. This includes not harassing moderators of subreddits who have chosen not to take part: no one likes a missionary, a used-car salesman, or a flame warrior.

I started taking a Physics for Scientists and Engineers class and lab two days ago as part of my current major (Mechanical Engineering). Here's the issue, though: I'm looking to change my major soon (though I'm not quite sure what to. That'll be for an upcoming post), and I don't see this class being useful in most of those career paths (business related degrees, like accounting or finance), and what ones it might be useful in are ones that I'm looking to take outside of college, at least at first (IT or CompSci).
Ordinarily, I'd just stay the course and keep going while working with my advisors and therapist to try to find a better major, but this course and lab take up a lot of time since the course is 4 days/week in the middle of the day, plus homework, and the lab is twice a week and starts an hour after the class gets out and lasts for 3 hours, plus the lab reports we have to do outside of the lab hours.
If I dropped this class, I'd like to pick up a part time job to make some money and do more research to find a better career path to pursue. My fall schedule would change as well since I have a class then where this one is a prerequisite. I was considering dropping some classes then as well if I didn't figure anything out in time, but I'd still like to stay a student so that I can have access to the resources available, so I wouldn't drop every class I have scheduled.
I'm probably rambling at this point, so I'll just cut to the chase and ask what do you all think?

I'm having a really hard time managing my supplements and protocols, and I would like to know how you keep track of your recommended protocols.
Did a doctor prescribe a protocol? what does it look like? and how do you remember to do all of the things. What have you done to make it less overwhelming?

Someone made a comment about how on the trip she's shown herself drinking 4 drinks but other lives show her drinking more, including shots of tequila. Do you think she realizes the calories in all the alcohol plus the subsequent eating is part of what's making her so miserable?
She filters herself to oblivion and acts better than everyone else with her confidence but I LIVE for these events where we see how she really is: miserable, uncomfortable, awkward, and drinking to excess to make up for all these feelings. Everything the camera catches her and she realizes it, she's dying of embarrassment. She packs 2 suitcases but keeps wearing the same shorts maybe because they're the only ones that actually fit right now because she's extremely bloating from overindulgence and doesn't give her a huge muffin top.
My conspiracy theory is she doesn't think alcohol or drink calories count.

It’s become time for some talk about the upcoming season. Let’s talk about the most common criticism of the sub we had last year: overmoderation. We agree, we definitely had some overmoderation problems and we are working on it. We’ve been turning down or outright removing some of the automated moderator actions. This has been helping us get better as a mod team, but it’s also causing a volume issue.
As a result, we want to add some more mods. It’s well overdue for the sub as we’ve grown greatly since we last expanded the team. Our primary goal with adding more mods: is to continue removing automated actions so less things are removed/filtered automatically. This is simply a manpower problem to make sure we can stay on top of reports and other things in a timely manner.

You've probably heard about the protest in other subs already. This sub will go dark on June 12. I haven't set an end date on the blackout, because that's dependent on how the administration responds to the protest.
In the event that this kills our little subreddit, I want to thank you all for fighting this uphill battle with me. Misandry is real, it is massively under-recognized, and it does real, lasting damage to innocent people. Those of us here know that, but there are many others out there who apparently need to be dragged to a place of greater awareness, kicking and screaming the whole way. Keep up the good fight.
