TT Table (Joola Inside 19) in Garage - Heat an Issue?
2023.03.22 06:36 kickslick TT Table (Joola Inside 19) in Garage - Heat an Issue?
Hello,
Let me preface this by saying I tried using the search function and I couldn't find the exact answer to my question.
I live in Central TX and the garage can sometimes get as hot as 110-120F and it can sometimes get extremely chilly as well (high 30s). It is not temperature controlled and I run a dehumidifier whenever the humidity gets past the 45% threshold.
- Would I be able to play on a table such as the Joola Inside 19 in such a garage through the summer? Or would I need to get a table rated for outdoor use?
- Would I be able to play on just the concrete flooring with shoes or should I install horsestall mats? Epoxy finish is kinda out of the question at this point unfortunately :(
- For folks who park the car in the garage as well, do you just install a large net on either end to prevent the balls from ending up under the car? I envision that being a problem.
TIA for the help! I'm hoping this helps other folks who're stuck in a similar situation!

2023.03.22 05:17 Azkaland The Puppy Blues won, and I regret it.
[Edit: So maybe this wasn't puppy blues. I gave my anxiety the benefit of the doubt, but turns out it was right and she just wasn't the right dog for me.]
I had never heard of the puppy blues before, but wow I'm glad I'm not alone. (Though it's an adult dog, but still.)
I wish I had known about it before, and read any of the countless stories of it getting better. But here's what happened.
I have moderate anxiety, as well as social issues. My husband, family, psychiatrist, and I agreed that getting a dog could help keep me company and give me something to focus on as my husband is gone for work often - he's getting ready to deploy soon.
It's probably worth mentioning this would be the first dog I've been solely responsible for as an adult, I'm late 20s. I've watched my parents' dog several times over the last few years. My husband's family bred dogs, so he helped raise some but didn't train. So I would not consider us to be experienced owners at all. Cats, yes. Dogs, no.
We decided against a puppy, as we thought it'd be far more work than I could do on my own. But also wanted to get a dog soon so it could remember my husband and not be jealous or protective when he came back from deployment.
We visited a local shelter, and told them I was looking for a younger adult dog that would be suitable for possible service dog training. (I was already in contact with a trainer who recommended the specific shelter and said they were familiar with what he looks for as far as temperament).
They brought out a 2 year old that was just spayed, so she wasn't out for adoption quite yet. She looks like an Akita Husky mix, about the size of a smaller Husky. Absolutely gorgeous, was ok to walk, a little pulling because she was interested in the flowers, but not bad. Honestly relatable because ADHD.
They said she was independent, and I took that to mean she wasn't clingy, not that she was stubborn - though I knew how Huskies are. My parents have a golden doodle that's very clingy, and since I work from home, I don't want the dog attached to me 24/7. So independent sounded good.
We went home and thought about it. I didn't immediately say she was the one, but the next day I kept thinking about her, so I called and asked them if we could get her the following day.
We took her to a pet store to get the right size collar and crate (we had a slip lead). Very good in the store, friendly with people asking to pet her. Then she refused to get back in the car. She yipped and acted like my husband hurt her when he tried to pick her up, so we thought she'd pulled her stitches or something. Finally after me getting in the car and coaxing her in, she jumped up just fine. Can't blame her for not trying to get in the car with strangers twice.
She was pretty well mannered in the house, marked a few times in the living room but I started brushing her in there to show it wasn't a pee spot, and that seemed to work. Her temperament was fine, not reactive, didn't bark at all. She howled a few times which I thought was adorable. More like a wolf than a Husky song.
Her preferred activity was patrolling the house and yard. It seemed like she wasn't familiar with [carpeted] stairs because she slid down them for the first 10 or so times, but she got the hang of it. She really enjoyed being brushed, and could complete a lap while I cleaned out the fur. Kind of a fun game that she invented.
She was not interested in any of the treats I had, and she was on slow-kill heartworm treatment so I had to give her meds twice a day. Thankfully she liked cheese and would take the meds that way. Not sure if the aversion was from anxiety or she was previously trained to refuse food. She wouldn't eat from the bowl until I walked out of sight.
I could tell she was timid, and she slept a lot. I called the shelter and double checked what they told me about the heart worm treatment, since fast kill meant basically zero movement, but exercise with slow kill is okay as long as they're not overexerted and don't have symptoms. Just wanted to make sure I didn't do something wrong. Could've been just the quiet compared to the noisy shelter.
She would want out the front door, and would not want to come back in from walks. But no problem coming back in from the fenced backyard. (Maybe she didn't want to get in the car, which is impossible to avoid because our front yard and driveway are tiny).
She'd dig her heels in and wouldn't budge. I weigh barely twice as much as her, and was terrified she might take off. I was on the verge of a panic attack at the pet store, I can't imagine if my husband wasn't there.
Not even the end of the third day, I had an overwhelming feeling that I was in too deep. The worker at the shelter was so nice and helpful when I called about the heart worm treatment, so I was ok with that, but I didn't know if I could handle training her or her exercise needs.
Eventually she would've gone to service dog training, but I had to care for her in the meantime. And how could I do that if I couldn't handle her refusing to come inside?
I was so adamant that she (or whichever dog I ended up with) could help me keep a schedule and get out of the house more, but I couldn't eat or sleep the entire time.
I thought I caused her harm by making the impulsive decision to adopt her - even though I'd been planning for months and thinking for years. That I couldn't possibly give her a good life. But I was also afraid to take her back to the shelter.
All I could see or think about was how she may have been treated prior to becoming a stray, and how I could've made it worse.
My husband was looking up training videos, my mom was trying to make the 8+ hour drive to come help me, the dog was just wanting to play, and I couldn't see past the anguish I felt. I sobbed for 2 days straight.
I had a moment of clarity and thought even if I can stick it out and learn to train her, that I'm just not an active enough person for her needs - and not physically or mentally strong enough to help her through the stubbornness or what her previous owner may or may not have done.
I made the painful call to the shelter, and they accepted her back.
As soon as we got out of the car and walked towards the door, she froze and wouldn't look at me. I got her to do a lap and she froze again very close to the parking lot entrance, so cars were coming by. I completely understood her reluctance to go back to the shelter, I didn't want her to go back either, but the behavior was unsafe for both of us. She needed a strong leader and it wasn't me.
I knew I made the right decision, but it absolutely broke my heart.
It's been a couple days, and I still feel like I hurt her or made things worse somehow, or that she thinks she did something wrong. She was so good, she just needed guidance and somebody to trust.
Today we got the news that my husband's deployment date was delayed. And my first thought was I could've had more time to help her. I didn't have to give up on her, she could still be here. But I couldn't have known that.
My heart is shattered over a dog I knew for less than a week. The shelter posted her for adoption so I really hope she gets a nice loving family with a big yard to patrol.
I emailed them some photos and wrote some of the info they might want to know for potential adopters. A fleeting thought told me to go visit her, but that would just make it worse. Because I'd want to try again and make it right- and I can't.
I see a psychiatrist and my next appointment isn't for a few weeks. Maybe that will give me enough time to be able to talk about it without crying.
Not ready to consider another pet yet, but I'm afraid the same puppy blues will come.
Also not really sure what I'm looking for here. Reassurance, I suppose? There are so many stories about how it gets better, but those people kept the dog. I never would've considered returning or rehoming a pet before this, so at least it's given me a new perspective. A painful one.

No experience necessary for the laborer custodial or maintenance mechanic positions. It helps on the interview but you can surely think of maintenance related experience to relay for an interview. Based on fixing things around your house, the car etc.
Always mention working safely.
Pro tip: You can apply for any job that has an exam opening and the test is administered local to yourself. Make sure you're serious and score decently; you can turn down the job offer. Keep a physical copy of your exam score, I believe they are good for two years.
The reason is: These job postings can be posted externally at capacity for testing, meaning they will not allow you to take the exam if they have enough qualified applicants. However, if you have a test score on the books,
you are a qualified applicant.
Explanation of MVO/TTO to save time:
MVO= CDL B Can only drive box trucks on public roads, can drive anything for moves on postal property.
TTO= CDL A Can drive anything.
USPS provides the training. (Maintenance jobs at least. TTO and management...GOOD LUCK)
You don't have to be crazy to work here. We'll train you. Everything but proper email usage. submitted by

2023.03.22 04:11 olegeener I'm 32, live in a HCOL city, work in digital marketing & will make $117K since I just got promoted!
Bio Age: 32
Occupation: Senior Digital Marketing Manager
Location: HCOL, Midwest, US
Salary Gross income: Currently, $103.5K + 10% annual bonus. Starting next week, $117K + 15% annual bonus! I do some sporadic freelance work for $2-3K per year. Husband is $51K. HHI is $168K (no bonus).
Net income: Current biweekly paycheck is ~$2.8K. Deductions: $75 HSA, health insurance, taxes. Not sure what new paycheck will be! Husband’s is ~$1.5K. Deductions: 401K, health insurances, taxes.
Income progression: - 2012: After undergrad, got a part time contract job as a community manager (when social media was just barely a thing for businesses). Made $12/hr. Also was a server. All in w/both, $35-45K.
- 2014-2017: Over 5 years, contract gig got more serious. I quit my serving job as I made more from contract gig. Eventually, my role was absorbed by largest client. Started w/them as a social media manager at $55K.
- 2019: After a couple years, took new job in editorial/writing for $51K.
- 2019: Company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy 6 weeks after I got there (lol). So got a digital marketing manager job in a new, much more expensive city making $70K.
- 2021: After 2 years & a short COVID furlough, joined my current company as a digital marketing manager (under a former boss) at $102K + 10% bonus.
- 2022: Last year, received COL raise to $103.5K.
- March 2023: As of next week, start promotion to senior digital marketing manager w/, $117K + 15% annual bonus.
Assets & Debt First, to start: my husband & I share finances. We’ve been together for nearly 8 years. We officially combined everything after we got married about a year ago. All assets, spend, etc. reflects both of us.
Assets: Retirement balance: ~$2K & that’s it. I did not grow up w/financially fluent family (they also didn’t have any money), nor did I have an understanding about retirement until recently. I’ve also been prioritizing enjoying some of my spoils/saving for other things, tbh. This is changing soon!
Savings balance: $21.5K. Have some medically necessary procedures coming up (not covered by insurance) so socking away for that. We also rent, so always want to have moving cash accessible just in case.
Joint checking: $5.6K.
Solo checking: $1.4K
Debt: Student loans: none! Paid mine off in 2020 (~$20K total). (I qualified for a lot of aid; scholarships, grants & subsidized student loans covered my undergrad degree. My parents did not contribute/)
Mortgage: n/a. We rent.
Car: $550 monthly. Bought the car 6 years ago. First decent car either one of us has had. Worth it. (~$3.5K left. We’re gonna pay this off in the spring).
Credit card: Currently $3K but we pay off in full each month.
Monthly Recurring Expenses Rent: $2,100 for 2 bed, 2 bath, 3rd floor walkup, including outdoor parking space. We’ve lived here almost 4 years. Rent has not increased.
Electric & gas: $250-$350 depending on time of year.
Internet: ~$70.
Car insurance: ~$200 for two cars.
Phones & service: $155 for two phones + service but I get an $80 subsidy for work, so $75.
Fitness: $209 for unlimited Orangetheory. I go ~3 times/week & it’s great.
Prescriptions: ~$90. I have a daily inhaler & I take Adderall for ADHD.
Subscriptions: YouTube music, streaming TV, random podcasts, etc. my husband supports: ~75.
Savings: We put $1K-$2.5K in savings every month.
Weekly Diary! DAY 1 – TOTAL: $4.75 - Up at 6:15 – Wordle, NYT Spelling Bee, Reddit, catch one Pokemon in Pokemon Go so I keep my streak
- Quick bath & read a book (this week’s reading: When You are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris; Mindset by Carol Dweck)
- Dressed & ready, took bus to work. Had team lunch, meetings, etc. all day.
- Getting home was a shitshow. Waited for the train – too crowded to get on. Waited for a bus – same. Eventually caught the train home. $2.50.
- Hung around w/husband, watched Succession, made half a grilled cheese for dinner
DAY 2 – TOTAL: $208.20 - Up at 6:30ish - Wordle, NYT Spelling Bee, Reddit, catch one Pokemon in Pokemon Go so I keep my streak
- Bath & reading – every morn!
- Cleaned the kitchen a bit
- Had to pay a bunch of bills manually. My credit card number got stolen awhile ago so bank sent me a new one w/a new number. But the old number (on file w/lots of places for autopay) still worked?? So I just let it ride.
- Started getting emails/calls that the old CC number was no longer valid. SO i paid some bills:
- Speech pathologist: I’m getting evaluated for possible double jaw surgery so had to see a speech path for evaluation. If you have never been asked by a doctor to open your mouth & show them the chewed graham cracker on your tongue, I highly recommend. :) $178.20
- Physicians assistant: I go see a PA once every 3 months for ADHD medication. $30
- iPhone: covered above
- Orangetheory: covered above
- Then off to WHF! Reporting for pilot I led, atatus meeting w/our digital agency, other calls, etc. On Wednesday nights, I take a stand up comedy class! Super fun & I’m really enjoying it. Had to do a rewrite of last week’s set so banged out right before class. Listened to last week’s piece & feedback, then voice transcribed into Word doc. I have an editing/writing background/degree & lots of speaking/performance so had a great time on rewrite. I was running late so I took an Uber there: $12.90
- Had a great time at class! It goes til 10pm & I’m old so caught an Uber home: $18.95.
- Got home & dumped tonight’s set & feedback into Word doc. Reddit-ed for a few. Sleep around 11pm.
DAY 3 – TOTAL: $325 - WFH again. Chill day. Hard for me to stay out late (for me) at class on Wednesday nights & have a good productive day the next one.
- Was NOT going to spend money today but Colin Jost the comedian is coming to town the night before my birthday!! I bought 2 tickets on Vivid Seats for my husband & me. $229.78
- Was gonna go to Orangetheory in the evening but cancelled – too tired. $14 for cancelling
- Husband went to Costco on his way home. Got paper towels & a few other things & a giant pizza! We ate it for dinner. $81.22
DAY 4 – TOTAL: $0 - Up around 6:40. Wordle, NYT Spelling Bee, Reddit, catch one Pokemon in Pokemon Go so I keep my streak
- Bath & reading! Washed my hair, so styling routine & diffusing.
- 9am meeting w/agency – took from the couch.
- Called around for a pharmacy who has my prescription for Adderall & found one! So then called the doc & had them send it over. Glad this is done!!
- THEN called health insurance. I need to have an expander put in my mouth because I have nasal breathing issues (and a severe open bite & moderate cross bite, all due to a narrow upper palate), BUT not clear if insurance covers it. Was on for 40 minutes – answer is conclusive. A TIP: orthodontic/orthognathic surgeries are an insurance nightmare. :/
- Lots of downtime today. Emails & reporting mostly but also a lot of researching the procedure I need to have. Called a coworker in the afternoon.
- Really sluggy so Diet Dr Pepper around 2:30pm – rare for me. Try to avoid caffeine after lunch.
- Ended up taking a nap from 5:30pm-7pm. Hung around & ate leftovers for dinner.
DAY 5 – TOTAL: $484.57 - Woke up, loafed around a bit.
- Caught the bus to meet a friend for brunch! Read a bit on the bus. $2.25
- Brunch w/my girl! Good to catch up. Ate some pancakes that were pretty good but made my stomach hurt. Got a giant cookie to take home to husband. $29.60
- Went to Anthropologie. Bought 5 things, all on clearance: 3 sweaters, one top, one blazejacket thing. $185, which is pretty great for Anthro.
- Then got ice cream!!! Bought my friend’s cone too. $17.60.
- Took the bus home. $2.25.
- A bit later, husband & I Ubered to a little cocktail bar. $12.99. It was really nice! We each had 2 cocktails. $76.76
- Then we went for dinner! Originally wanted wings but the place was crazy with very drunk March Madness goers. So went to a bistro-y place down the street. Had a couple beers each & ate some really excellent short rib pappardelle & husband had a delicious meatball sub. $138.12
- Ubered home! $20
DAY 6 – TOTAL: $38.49 - Slept in!! Realized we didn’t have any food so ran to Chipotle for a nice big brunch. $38.49
- Otherwise, had a very chill day. Long bath & reading w/face & hair masks. Tidying & laundry.
- Husband made meal prep (rice bowls) for dinner, so ate that & started The Last of Us & went to bed early.
DAY 7 – TOTAL: $143.67 - Up around 6:30 for the normal morning routine – phone, bath/reading, get ready.
- Had to call a bunch more pharmacies to sniff out Adderall – had very little luck.
- Ordered flowers to be delivered for my mother’s birthday: $76.78
- Had a chill WFH day. Did some planning & reporting, had a few afternoon calls.
- Husband went to the grocery on his way home. Got a few staples: salsa, bagels, yogurts, etc. $66.89
- Wrapped up around 5:30pm. Laid around & stretched, then went to Orangetheory at 7pm.
- Had a great workout! Came home, cleaned up, wolfed some meal prepped food, then went to bed around 10pm.
TOTAL FOR WEEK: $1,204.68 This was an above average spending week. Brunch & shopping is not a weekly occurrence, nor are those medical bills. We typically eat/cook/meal prep at home a bit more too. But there ya have it – hope you enjoyed!

2023.03.22 02:15 blegoo94 28 [M4F] St. Louis, MO - Hi. I have Asperger's and I'm interested in finding a relationship.
Hey there! My name is Ryan and I'm from St. Louis, Missouri. I'm looking for a long term relationship; the "until death do us part" kind of relationship. I am 100% monogamous and I don't want that to ever change. I know physical attractiveness is important, so
here is a picture of me. I'm 6'0", bearded, bald, and with a smile to light up your day!
So you're probably mostly interested in my title. I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome when I was 20 years old.
My biggest symptom is that my ability to socialize is pretty shit. I'm just a pretty quiet person.
Most people would not guess that I have Asperger's because for one I am already very high functioning in comparison to most people with it. Second, I have been masking my traits for so long by not talking a lot that being 'the quiet guy' has just become natural to me.
Whenever I do talk, it's like everything goes through a subconscious filter in my head and I do a pretty good job at seeming neurotypical because of it.
If you're wondering if being in a relationship with me means that you have to be some kind of caretaker, you won't. I am 100% independent. I currently live alone half way across the US from family, work full time as a lead, pay my own bills, drive my own car, have my own hobbies, etc..
If you're also wondering if I would be communicative in a relationship, the answer is very much yes.
I've never been in a serious relationship before. The closest thing I have been in is a LDR and had a couple FWBs. I suck at talking to people. Woman or not lol. I was recently hit on at a club (I don't normally go to clubs. It was with an engagement party.), and I didn't realize it until she left. Stuff like this happens at my work too sometimes. Point is to further show that I am socially inept.
I've been typically described as kind, smart, gentle, sweet, caring, compromising, affectionate, clingy (in a healthy way), and loyal. I've taken the love language test before and I found that I love physical touch and quality time spent together. Sex, cuddling, kissing, and hand holding while spending plenty of time together will make me the happiest boyfriend in the world!
Some indoor hobbies I enjoy are PC gaming, programming, listening to music, watching movies/shows/anime. And some outdoor hobbies/activities I enjoy (especially with someone else) are going for walks, working on some kind of DIY project, going out to eat, and going to the park. Honestly I just spend most of my free time coding. I'd like to say I'm too mature for memes but then I end up seeing them every day on reddit.
Some qualities I value would be a good emotional intelligence, the time and ability to put effort into getting to know me, and just being a genuinely kind person. I've found that I can get along very well with extroverted people because they can counteract my quiet nature easily, or introverted people that have similar hobbies.
Other about-me stuff you may find important: I am politically liberal, atheist, and super non judgmental.

2023.03.22 00:52 Luchamore Trip Report 2/15-3/6: Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Osaka, and more!
After a couple weeks of recovery, I've had some time to write up a trip report! This vacation was the best I've ever had and I'm excited to share some highlights here, along with some mistakes I made and travel tips. My plans were to meet up with two friends for the first 1.5 weeks of the trip, then to go solo for the last week. They would fly to Chicago to connect with me, then we'd all fly over together to Narita.
Pre-flight - I filled out the Japan entry forms to provide proof of vaccination, declare for customs, etc. We saved a pretty good amount of time with that compared to people filling out paperwork on the plane.
- For phone / internet we went with pocket wireless and it was incredibly smooth basically the whole time. We got two units for times where we'd be separated as well as a pocket translator, which was an unnecessary expense. You're not getting any added value over Google Translate.
- For daily travel we all went with Suica and that was again a very simple, intuitive experience. I'd just periodically add on funds to my Apple Wallet and ended up paying for a bunch of stuff with that rather than cash / credit. My one friend went with the actual card instead of using his phone, which had one advantage: some ticket machines would only accept Suica via card and through the app.
- For the shinkansens we skipped the JR Pass and just booked tickets that day, which was mostly fine. The machines wouldn't accept my credit card so I'd need to go talk to a person, but I knew enough about where I wanted to go and what to do I muddled through. We did opt for the Hakone Free Pass as that would cover basically all the transportation for that area and saved a little money.
- I'm fortunate to have a friend living in Japan who helped arrange a couple events for us... if you don't have that option you can try to book some tickets at Lawson, or for restaurants you can try to go 1-2 days in advance and ask about reservations.
- I tried taking a language course ahead of the trip and learning a few key phrases... I was not able to hold a conversation but the little bit I did know helped I believe. One "caution" I'll give is that if you use Google Translate to construct a sentence for you in Japanese, you're likely to get a response in Japanese!
Part 1: Tokyo 2/15 + 2/16 - Friend B unfortunately overslept and missed his first flight, so Friend A and I met up in the morning at O'Hare. I did have to check one of my bags at the gate because it was over 10 lbs, but otherwise the trip was uneventful until we arrived at Narita, where I had a momentary panic when my checked suitcase did not show up on the carousel. I talked to an agent and for some reason, they had set my bag aside from all the others behind a sign. With that out of the way, we picked up the pocket wi-fi and on our way out the door, a film crew from "Why did you come to Japan" asked us if we would do a brief interview. I recognized their logo and thought it might be fun, but I wasn't prepared for a 40 minute conversation! I mentioned I was visiting a Game Center CX exhibit and they asked me a long line of questions about meeting the show's host (Shinya Arino), what I would say to him, what games we would play, etc. Finally I had to explain we were tired and would like to be on our way. I don't believe my interview was ever shown.
By the time we got tickets and were seated on the Narita Express, we could barely stay awake. Maybe because of the fatigue we had difficulty with exiting Shinjuku station: we eventually talked to an Australian family who showed us the fare exchange kiosk where we converted our Narita Express ticket into a regular train ticket for the gate. Once we settled that we checked into our hotel (Hundred Stay Tokyo Shinjuku), briefly went out to Family Mart for snacks, then crashed for the night.
2/17 - We got up around 7 and went to a Sukiya near our hotel for breakfast, then headed over to Akihabara. Things were still opening up so we stopped for Mr. Donut, then visited a couple stores before moving further east to Yokozuna Tonkatsu Dosukoi Tanaka where we had a lunch / sumo demonstration. This was very much a tourist thing: there was a brief explanation of the sumo ceremony and technique before they invited the audience to get in sumo costumes and step in the ring and have matches with the wrestlers. I (and about 90% of the attendees) went up: this was absolutely not a serious match and was closer to improv comedy than anything. Still, we had a good time and the food was fine.
Afterward, we went back to Akihabara for a reservation at an owl cafe. We got some cute photos but I admit those owls could not have been happy, as there were 30 of them in a small room. The handlers would let one perch on your arm but were adamant you not let go of their leash, because if you did... it wouldn't be pretty. At this point we had to return to our hotel to link up with Friend B who had just arrived, then we went back to Akihabara for dinner. Dinner was at Merino, an all you can eat place where we had lamb and beef tongue in a hot pot. Fittingly, there was a collaboartion with a lamb girl V-tuber. We were again pretty wiped out after dinner and retreated back to our hotel.
2/18 - After a quick stop at Family Mart we headed to Ueno for the Tokyo National Museum. Unfortunately the special exhibition was closed, but we enjoyed the historical artifacts that were available. We had a ramen lunch at one of the restaruants at Ueno Station, then head over to Akihabara (yes, again) and crawled through the shops in more depth. We were there on Saturday afternoon so there were people everywhere, so that only lasted for a couple hours. Our bags were full so we dropped things off at the hotel, then ate dinner at a Coco Ichibanya: we all kept our orders pretty low on the scale but as advertised, there's a kick even at "2". Finally we visited Star Club, a Super Mario themed bar located nearby. Despite the gimmick, the crowd appeared to be local aside from our group. We each ordered a couple of the themed drinks and bonded with the bartender over Cowboy Bebop through the language barrier, as he was playing the soundtrack for ambience.
2/19 - Our first stop in the morning was the Ghibli Musem. While my previous visit had been lackluster, this one went much better as there was a significantly smaller crowd so early in the day. Plus, while they are still largely not supporting English, the movie shown had no dialogue and they did actually provide an English guide for the special exhibit on Future Boy Conan! The merch shop was of course seductive and we ended up with souvenirs for ourselves and friends. Our lunch plans unfortunately fell through as our targeted spot (Chillmatic, a burger place) was closed for a building inspection. We opted for another random ramen place as we walked over to the PARCO mall in Shibuya. We visited all the character stores (Nintendo, Pokemon, Capcom, etc.), which were of course also mobbed on a Sunday afternoon. At this point I had easily outgrown the space in my luggage, so our next stop was Don Quijote so Friend A and I could each buy a duffel bag. To make up for earlier we visited Shogun Burger for dinner, which was fantastic.
2/20 - Our first travel day, but before heading out we did a little more shopping in Shinjuku: my friends and I really got into visiting every BookOff we could find. I also took the opportunity to stop at McDonalds for an early lunch and try their "exclusive" menu items. We then boarded the Odakyu line to make our way out to Hakone. In hindsight, I definitely should have forwarded a bag to our Kyoto hotel: I had a very uncomfortable trip moving between trains and walking uphill but after a couple hours we made it to Ajisai Onsen Ryokan. The building was in a traditional style but with modern furnishings: to paint a picture, our room had futons and an Amazon Fire Stick. We booked times to reserve some of the baths, then walked to a local gyoza place - and I mean local, a bunch of schoolchildren stampeded in with us as it opened - then headed back to the hotel for our evening bath. To cap the evening we enjoyed some sake and watched a few episodes of Spy x Family.
2/21 - We got an early start with our morning bath and quickly came to a realization. The previous night we had booked the "indoor / outdoor" bath, which had both an indoor and outdoor bath but critically kept the showers indoors. For the morning we were in the "outdoor" bath, which... had the showers outdoors. When it was right around freezing. Afterward we ate breakfast at the hotel, then went on the "Hakone Loop". We started by walking through Gora Park and participating in a brief tea ceremony, then took the rope car up to Owaukudani. We were lucky and there were clear skies so Mt. Fuji was very visible in the distance. Unfortunately part of the ropeway was out of service so we took a bus down to Lake Ashi, which we then crossed by boat. We quickly stopped for snacks then walked along Ancient Cedar Avenue before catching a bus back closer to our hotel. We unfortunately missed the last cable car for the day - they stop before 4:30 - but we managed to figure out the local bus line to get back. After a brief rest we found dinner at Pub Stop Pizza & Bar and took in some local entertainment (a TV was playing Fast and the Furious 7).
2/22 - Another bath, another hotel breakfast, and a quick stop at the Hakone Art Museum before we got on our way to our next destination. I asked / begged for us to take a cab back down the mountain to Hakone-Yumoto, which saved me from more luggage struggles. At the station we stopped in Eva-ya: I had only learned yesterday that Hakone is the setting for much of Neon Genesis Evangelion, but luckily they had some cover files and sweets ready for me to buy. After a couple hour trip on the shinkansen we arrived at Kyoto and with a bit of fumbling got to our hotel. The key here is that there is a second floor walkway that runs North - South through the station and doesn't require paying train fare. Our Kyoto hotel (Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto Ekimae) had a very slick entrance way: it blended in with the building to the point you'd think you're walking towards a wall without signage. We did some laundry, then went next door to the Yodobashi to pick up a couple items (Friend A needed new sneakers) and literally got lost again. After again getting reoriented, we headed back to Kyoto Station where we got conveyor belt sushi. These places do technically exist where I'm from (US) but this was still one of my favorite moments on the trip.
2/23 - Kicked off the day at the Kyoto International Manga Museum. The bulk of the museum is an impossibly large manga library, which didn't serve me too well, but I enjoyed the history sections. One room was devoted to sculptures of the hands of famous artists, which was certainly a choice. They also had an artist there who would draw sketches of you for 1500 yen. I was a little worried I was paying for the equivalent of a carnival caricature, but the skill and detail were much better than that. Be advised, the artists are only available on holidays and weekends.
Afterward I took the train down to Osaka to meet a friend living in Japan for... you guessed it more shopping. We visited the Capcom Cafe first and checked out the rest of the nerdy stores at Daimaru Umeda. Unlike in Shibuya, we did need to get a timed entry ticket for the Nintendo store, so we went over to Mandarake to kill time. After finishing up in Umeda we hit up the Daimaru / PARCO at Shinsaibashi, then visited the Dotunburi Glico sign and walked the river. They took my picture and when I offered to take theirs they replied "no... I'm not a tourist". Oof. In the evening I met back up with my travel group and had udon at a spot in Kyoto Station.
2/24 - Slightly mixed things up here: we went to the Imperial Palace in order to get tickets for Katsura Imperial Villa. Unfortunately, same day tickets were not available as we expected, so we instead had to get them for Sunday 2/26. Still visited the palace, and in spite of the rain still had fun. Then back to Osaka where we ended up visiting Daimaru again - the other guys liked some photos I sent so much they wanted to see it too. Had takoyaki for lunch, then took the train to the Osaka Aquarium. The absolutely massive tank at the center was very impressive. Then stayed in the area and went to the park to wat a New Japan Pro Wrestling show. This was one of the first shows that allowed the whole audience to cheer: people were quiet but by the end of the night things were rocking. Interestingly they still only sat people in every other chair. Lastly while the other guys went to bed I had read on Twitter there was a party near our hotel to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Star Fox. Stopped by there and while it was a little awkward at first once I found the more gregarious / drunk people there it was a good time. One guy insisted I get in front of a camera and talk for a second, and it showed up in a video they posted on Twitter.
2/25 - Went to Nara and saw the deer. The deer are docile if you don't have food, friendly if you do, and absolutely terrifying to children. The amount of "yada yada yada" and "kowai" I heard... At first we were giving whole crackers out, but we learned that we could break them up, leave them on our palm, get them to bow, etc. Headed over to Todai-ji and saw the huge Buddha. It was in fact very, very large. Doubled back and played with the deer a bit more, then took the train to Kyoto. I took the lull in the afternoon to visit the office of Edit Mode, a clothing maker that specializes in video game goods. They occasionally host an "open house" at their office and we were lucky enough to be there during one. For dinner we ate okonomiyaki at a restaurant in the Yodobashi building, then afterward took a trip to the nearest BookOff before hitting the hay.
2/26 - This was definitely our biggest mixup on the trip. We had been planning to go to Fushimi Inari in the morning but there were some scheduling issues:
- We didn't take not of how long the hike would be (2-3 hours).
- We overslept (woke up at 7:30 instead of 6).
- We had a hard stop time to make the Katsura Imperial Villa tour we'd booked on Thursday.
We probably should've just not gone to Fushimi Inari at all but we did and ended up arriving with less than an hour to stay. We walked up the steps for about 15 minutes, turned back, checked out the start of the path, and left :( At least the Villa was a good experience: we had an English speaking guide (+ recording) which helped a lot. The context felt necessary to understanding how carefully the whole area was designed.
Next up was one last stop at our Kyoto hotel before taking a quick train ride to Osaka. We stayed at the Hotel Granvia Osaka, which is literally right above the station, so the location was certainly convenient. We ate sushi for lunch at one of the many restaurants in the building, took a quick nap, then went out for some taiyaki. Specifically, I forced my friends to go to a particular chain that was collaborating with a V-Tuber. back to the hotel where we checked out then hopped on the train to Osaka. Checked into our hotel and people napped for a bit before we headed out again. Got taiyaki (making my friends visit a chain with a Hololive collab). More shopping followed with a stop at Mandarake, then to Don Quijote where I bought another small suitcase. We ended up more or less skipping dinner and heading out for karaoke, where we had some snacks and drinks.
2/27 - For my friends' final day we went to Universal Studios Japan. This could be its entire own post but I recommend looking for tickets at least a month in advance, get the Express Pass, and get there early. The park is supposed to open at 9, and even though we showed up at 8:30 people were already pouring inside. Our main objective was Super Nintendo World but our timed entry wasn't for a couple hours, so we tried Jujutsu Kaisen 4D (okay), Spider-Man (good), and Jurassic Park the Ride (okay) first. As for Super Nitendo World itself... as long as you know it's intended for kids and has about a 4 hour lifespan you'll enjoy it. The Mario Kart ride was very good the AR game was interesting tech, and the restaurant food was alright. Really though, the Flying Dinosaur which went on afterward was incredible and easily my favorite ride. Unfortunately, Friend A became ill afterward so we ended up bailing to go back to the hotel and rest. After he felt better we grabbed dinner at a local ramen place: the gimmick was they lined the bowl with slices of pork, which you could then put in the broth to cook a little and season the whole bowl.
2/28 - My two friends left for America, so we checked out of our room and I checked into a smaller one at the same spot. This hotel didn't have laundry machines, just an expensive service (200 yen to clean one pair of underwear), so instead I found a laundromat nearby and caught up with family by phone while I waited. On the way back to the hotel I stopped at another Yodobashi, where I committed a gaffe: you're supposed to check out on each floor. Once I apologized a bunch and paid, I grabbed lunch at Wendy's and got settled into my new room. For dinner I went to another of the restaurants in the building, then took a train to Namba to see a retro video game bar. A couple drinks and a chat with the bartender later, I headed back for the night.
3/1 - A very nerdy shopping day in Osaka: first to the Daimaru character shops, then over to Parco character shops, then I just used Google Maps to hit BookOffs one after the other. I made my way south until I hit DenDen Town where I stopped in every store I saw until I had to break away for dinner. A local friend helped me book a reservation in Kobe Took the train out to Kobe where a friend had helped me make a reservation at a steak restaurant. I went for the "modarately" cheap option that was about $100 total and loved it from beginning to end. Also strangely this was the only restaurant anywhere I could tip: you had to tip individually and could only max it out at 500 yen. I tipped the two waiters, the chef, and the host / barker outside (who had good English so we talked a bit).
3/2 - My Fushimi Inari revenge trip! I got there around 9am so things were already pretty busy, but I did get the chance to chat with one of the tour guides while I had a morning coffee. The starting area was pretty busy and even as I went along, I ran into a lot of people but there was still enough space to take photos and see everything. I definitely paused at a few points: even walking 20,000 steps daily on the trip hadn't prepared me for all the stair climbing. I'd also suggest that you don't NEED to go all the way to the top: there's just a store up there that completely obscures the view, the better views are earlier in the hike. With that said, I still really enjoyed myself, taking a different route back down. I grabbed a couple of snacks and took the train back to Osaka, where I finished up exploring Namba and went with a friend for an unagidon dinner. I'd had broiled eel before as sushi but never as the full entree and found it delicious!
3/3 - After checking out of the hotel and forwarding two of my bags to Tokyo, I caught the shinkansen but made a detour while in Yokohama to visit the Gundam Factory. The Gundam is very impressive in person and I would definitely recommend visiting in the early evening to see it after dark if possible. I proceeded onto Shinjuku where I ran into another issue: I was staying at a capsule hotel and immmediately realized I was not comfortable there. Everyone's bags were kept in a locker room that was not closely monitored, there were signs everywhere advising the hotel was not responsible for any theft... I should have done more reading to understand where I'd be staying. I would have been better off in a hostel, at least that would've been cheaper! I did at least have a chance to visit Shogun Burger again for dinner, after which I booked a new hotel for the next night, then got a few hours of restless sleep as I heard every snore and cough from my neighbors.
3/4 - I rose early and walked to Shinjuku Gyoen Garden. You really can use Suica in a lot of places, they even accepted it here! Most plants weren't in bloom yet but I did spot a lone cherry blossom tree that had blossomed: as I passed by it later in my walk a dozen people had crowded around for photos. A lot of stuff was not in bloom yet but I did see one cherry tree had blossomed at least. After getting my fill of nature I ventured over to Nakano Broadway. Out of all the nerdy shopping I did, this spot was my least favorite: maybe if I knew Japanese I would've fared better but because I didn't, I found all the various specialty stores confusing to navigate. I stopped back at the capsule hotel to pick up my luggage, then headed to Nipponbashi to check into my backup hotel (S-Peria Inn Nihonbashi Hakozaki). This new spot was pretty out of the way so I opted to just grab some sushi from a nearby supermarket and park it for the evening with the hope of a strong start tomorrow.
3/5 - Checked out of my hotel and headed over to Shinjuku to check in to my final hotel (Kadoya Hotel) for the trip. Dropped off my bags and confirmed my other ones had shown up safely, then headed to Shibuya Parco for the Final Fantasy 35th Anniversary pop-up. Shopped there for a bit, then headed back to Chillmatic and this time they were open! It was a neat experience but I think I preferred Shogun Burger. Next stop was Meijijingu - I didn't leave a votive and instead just walked around, including a stop in one of the gardens. Then over to HMV Books where there was a 20th Anniversary Celebration for Game Center CX. However busy I expected it to be, it was not... at all. I was the only person who paid the 800 yen for the museum part in the 30-45 minutes I was there. But I did enjoy it and picked up a T-shirt. I also found a small pop-up gallery titled "9Days" on a lower floor that was interesting. It was getting late but I pressed onto Akihabara where I went to the Radio Kaikan tower. I stayed there until closing, then headed over to Tokyo Video Gamers, a bar. They had closed down last year but were in the middle of a soft re-launch when I stopped by. Finally, I headed back to my hotel and ordered some Dominos because I was tired of walking around.
3/6 - Checked out of my hotel, but left my bags so I could go eat breakfast at Eggslut at the station. Took the Narita Express to the airport, shopped a little bit at the airport shops, then the long sad flight back to the US.
That was a linguistic dreadnought so if anything is unclear let me know and I'll try to clean it up. Hope you enjoyed and it helps with your own planning: I'll answer questions as best as I can!

2023.03.22 00:19 UnknownAuthor2148 On consciousness and AI
I would like to start on a slight tangent. I cannot promise it will make sense later on, but at least it makes sense to me.
Consider time machines. Just to give you the impression I'm not talking complete rubbish, let's start with the simple type of time machines, sending things in the future. You may argue that that's not really time machines but I would counter-argue that it is certainly one of the things time machines do in science-fiction literature.
In terms of capabilities of the time-machines I will start from simple to complicated.
- Sending information into the future
This is something that we have pretty much perfected, with digital storage, replication, error correction, moving data between storage media, we are able to flawlessly transmit information into the future with a great degree of certainty. We have in fact made progress in this regard as early as thousands of years ago with the invention of writing. While not a lot of information was preserved since those times I would say it is still a pretty good proof of concept.
- Sending inanimate objects into the future
This is also something we made progress in. This is in large part due to the fact that physical objects naturally travel into the future without great effort on our part, but we went way beyond that, finding ways to prevent objects from decaying long beyond their natural life-span. To see proof of that you only need to take a look into your freezer. Also time capsules, the oldest of which are now a couple of centuries old.
- Sending living beings into the future
This one continues to be elusive, though we are not completely out of ideas when it comes to it. We know that small animals, bacteria and sperm can survive freezing and there seems to be evidence of larger animals and even human beings being revived after quite some time without a pulse if the body temperature was close to freezing. We also find it conceivable that we could digitize a person or at least their mind and by storing it as information we could piggyback on method 1.
Note that everything discussed so far has been the subject of intense research.
Moving on now to the difficult time travel - sending things into the past. Since there is little point discussing progress in achieving it, let's discuss why we would want to do it, and I will start this time from complex to "easy".
- Sending living beings into the past
A couple of things that come to mind are visiting an ancient city and experiencing life as it was back then or talking to a great person that no longer lives. There are however easier ways to achieve this, these days you can experience a recreation of an old city in virtual reality or by going to a theme-park. Having a discussion with a person who no longer lives would be far more achievable by instead sending that person forward in time.
Another reason for traveling into the past would be to teach the people in the past some technology that was not known at the time, but considering by analogy that sending a living being in the past might be more difficult than sending an inanimate object it would perhaps be easier just sending them a book.
- Sending an inanimate object into the past
The main use of sending an object into the past, presumably to someone who can make use of the object, would be to send something that is not otherwise available at that time. Since most atoms that exist now also existed in the past, presumably the value of the object is in how those atoms are arranged: they create a complex object, some piece of technology, a medicine, something that the past society did not possess.
As an alternative to sending an object into the past, we could however send just the information of how to manufacture that object and if the receiver of this information has sufficient resources they should be able to manufacture the object themselves. If necessary you could send all the information necessary to progress through the technological age, since as the sender you presumably know yourself how you arrived at this result.
Which leads us to:
- Sending information into the past
This is the most interesting application of the time machine as the previous uses seem to be reduced to it. If you think about it, a particular case of sending an object into the past is sending the time machine itself, or by extension sending the schematics of the machine. This way, the time machine would not need to be invented, it would just materialize from its future self.
This is also an argument why a time machine cannot exist, if it did, and was able to send information into the past as radio waves for example or as any physical phenomena that we can currently detect it would exist already: someone would magically receive the schematics through their radio receiver, along with lottery numbers, stock market advice or whatever would enable them to get the necessary resources to build the machine, then they could send the same information back to themselves in the past.
The time machine would in fact be the ultimate invention, any knowledge, any technology that we need would simply pour out of it without any effort. It would be a singularity that can create anything and make time meaningless.
What is the point of it though since we do not have a time machine, and as far as we can tell we can never have one. As it turns out, we have already made some progress in this direction.
Think about it from the point of view of the receiver in the past. You would like to know some information about the future ahead of time, how do you approach the problem? The answer already exists and is in use: a simulator. Simulators are in no way perfect but they are already in use in many domains. They assist us with progress in technology as well as weather forecasting.
Wait a minute, you will say, simulators are useful, but they are nowhere near this singularity that gives birth to anything. Yes, I agree, there is however a small detail that we did not discuss. The time machine has to be a simulator that simulates everything, including itself. This seems an impossibility, but I don't think it necessarily is. I think of it more as a differential equation where you have the integral and the function on the two sides of the equal sign. This doesn't stop you from solving the equation. I see the integral as the end result and the function as the action of the time machine.
To explain now why I went into the discussion of time machines and simulators, in case you haven't already predicted the future - your brain is a simulator.
There is ample evidence for this. Imagine yourself catching a flying disc from the air - my favorite sport. To do this, you have to see or otherwise sense the disc. The information from your eyes travels to the brain, the brain does a lot of processing, figures out there is a disc and where it is, sends some impulses to your muscles which also take their time to react and finally your body moves, your fingers clamp on the disc.
The entire process took tens to hundreds of milliseconds, but to catch the disc you need better timing than this, a slow disc may travel 10 cm in 10 milliseconds, a whole meter in 100 milliseconds. How did you do it? Simple, you saw the disc coming in advance, your brain simulated where it would be at the time of the catch. But not only that, before you started to move your hand you knew where your hand would end up to intercept the disc.
The brain simulated your body as well, and not only the movement of your body. Before you caught the disc you knew you wanted to catch it and before you knew you wanted to catch it you knew why. The brain performs this simulation so routinely that we don't realize it in day-to-day life. When you play a computer game you tend to get used to and no longer notice the latency of an animated character on the screen even when that is in the hundreds of milliseconds. You are already used to the late response of your own limbs so that you never notice it.
The brain is exactly the type of simulator that simulates everything including itself, it is the time machine that can give birth to anything. That is my thesis: consciousness is an emergent property of the time machine looking into itself.
The brain is of course not a perfect simulator, it does not create a singularity, like a division-by-zero that breaks reality, but there is a level at which it is close enough. I picture consciousness as a vortex that pierces the fabric of reality so deeply that everything else seems insignificant in comparison.
I don't know whether this theory makes sense to you, I only know it makes sense to me. A theory is only good if it is able to make predictions and I cannot venture into making predictions, at least not just yet. Instead I will try to see if things we already know fit within this theory.
Consciousness is both evolved and learnt The brain ends up as a powerful simulator, but what exactly does it simulate and how does it do it? If we drive a parallel to machine learning research and if we look at the state of a newborn baby it is fair to assume that the brain is like a neural network that is trained on the inputs it receives.
From the point of view of machine learning this is an ideal case, we have a lot of training data that doesn't need to be labeled. The brain receives information from the senses and trains itself to predict the future. Babies will move their limbs randomly and will initially be surprised and possibly upset at the results, then they learn not to do that anymore as they already know the result. After that they constantly seek new experiences, anything that the simulator cannot predict yet. There were experiments in machine learning as well focusing exactly on this "curiosity", displaying very human and hilarious results - the AI got stuck in front of a TV screen.
One of the implications of what I said so far is that consciousness does not exist at birth. This may come as a surprise to many people and it was a surprise to me when I first learnt of it, long before I came up with this theory. Neuroscientists seem to agree that first signs of consciousness only appear around 5 months of age.
One of the most complex things the brain will learn to predict is the other people, their language, their complex behavior, the way the language correlates with their behavior. The brain has to create this model of other people's behavior because its own rewards depend on it. I was inclined to say the rewards are in terms of nourishment but I don't believe people are in general so cruel not to feed the baby because it doesn't do tricks. The rewards are probably mostly in terms of attention it receives, which further stimulates curiosity.
The simulator is thus trained on other people, we predict how they think, how they act. Most if not all of us can imagine a conversation with a person we know and as far as I can tell it is a common thing to do. Psychologists have observed a phenomenon where people have the tendency to assume others have the same motivations as they themselves would have in the same situation (I learnt of this as "projection" but I see the term may have a slightly more nuanced meaning). From the point of view of our current theory this makes sense: the simulator doesn't learn the behavior of each person independently but reuses as much as possible of the model and it reuses the model for the self.
My claim is that consciousness in a person develops by training the simulator with a model of other people that possess consciousness and simultaneously applying the same model to the self. Where did consciousness start then? Generations upon generations consciousness was refined and evolved into what it is today.
Why consciousness feels so personal When you have an idea you have the impression that the idea is born in our mind, that it is your brain that produces it. This is often misleading, it is often the case that what you thought was an original idea you have actually heard or read before but do not remember consciously. Even when an idea is new, it was not generated from scratch, but based on many other ideas from other sources.
A lot of processing happened outside of our own brain, even outside our own lifespan. The simple fact that these words, in this sequence, have some meaning to us is the result of a lot of computation and refinement through many centuries. It is hard to separate the computation in our brain from the computation outside of our brain. The point of brainstorming is for people to "think together".
If more brains can think together, why does consciousness feel so individual? I would argue the reason is because the simulator's existence is bound to the existence of a physical body. When it predicts its own future, that future is bound to the future of that physical body. An instinct of conservation arises naturally from the laws of evolution and the awareness of its own end is what makes consciousness what it is. Perhaps one day we will transcend our individual existence, perhaps some individuals already do.
Can a group of people have a common consciousness, perhaps a nation, or humanity as a whole? We have the term "national consciousness" - it is certainly not the same thing as individual consciousness, but a certain analogy can be made. Recent world events prove how national consciousness is most vividly expressed when a nation is threatened. As a more cheerful example, you could look at art as an expression of national or group consciousness in the same way the interior monologue is the expression of individual consciousness.
A few thoughts on AI There seems to be uncertainty on whether AI can possess consciousness or whether we will ever be able to develop such an AI. If the assumptions made here hold, the solution for AI possessing consciousness is not only possible, but also straightforward: build a simulator and train it to simulate itself within its environment. Make the AI curious, everything it cannot predict yet is a learning experience. Have the AI interact with humans who reward it for integrating in society as one of them - humans seem to do this naturally already, they react positively when the AI is smart and human-like. Alternatively start from scratch with a population of AIs that have to communicate and organize the same way humans had to in the early years of civilization.
We already do all of this to some extent, perhaps not all of them put together. Go playing programs predict their opponent moves, then their own moves and so on for the entire game. AI implementing curiosity as a mechanism learns to play computer games. Large language models continue your sentences simply by predicting what the next word should be. There are machine learning models that can do fluid mechanics and light simulations better than a human can.
I think we are basically there.

2023.03.21 23:39 _Starry_eyed Looking for friends in London!
I'm 33f, single, work in senior management, live in Central London, dress well. According to personality types, I'm an 'adventurer' (ISFP), it has some truth to it but I think people are more dynamic than myers briggs assessments imply!
Why I'm here: my two closest friends recently moved away from London, one moved to Leeds for work and the other moved to Newcastle to complete a PhD at the university. I would like to meet interesting people who have a sense of humour and can hold a decent conversation. Who knows if I will find this on reddit...worth a shot!
I would eventually like to have 1:1 friendships and groups of friends. Dinner parties, days out, nights out, nights in, movies and takeaway, occasional late night deep chats, being silly together, picnics in the park during summer, you get the gist :)
Some of my interests include:
- Exploring new restaurants, I look forward to trying new places, enjoy good quality food and have a list of over 100 restaurants still to work through. Let's try some together?
- Music - going out dancing, watching or listening to it, I like everything from drum and bass to latin to classical to world. I have been to see classical orchestras, metal/dnb/other gigs, and into so much more. Let's go enjoy some music?
- Fitness - I do yoga, dance classes, always checking out new classes too.
- I enjoy painting and do classes regularly. I have an interest in trying DJing at some point...
- I go through phases with books. The last book I read was Man's Search for Meaning and currently have yet to read Woman Who Run With Wolves, recommended to me but haven't started yet.
- Arts and culture - new shows, exhibitions, museums etc
- Travel - I explore quite a lot and get to know locals, try to travel as authentically as possible.
If you think we have things in common, please reach out! 😊

2023.03.21 22:30 _Starry_eyed Looking for friends in London!

2023.03.21 21:08 BackgroundCancel2735 I love my mother, but I don’t like her
This is my first ever post so I don’t know if I’m doing this right, but I’m just trying to see if anyone has advice. My mother is an amazing person, most people see that. She’s hardworking, upbeat, strong, and independent. She’s basically singe-handedly raised me, being that she is a single mother, and works a job she doesn’t enjoy to make sure we stay afloat. Her hard work has taken us from living with her parents to owning our own nice home in the suburbs. I can say so much about her and what she’s done, but there’s also a side of her that I believe only is shown to me. The truth is that I’ve never felt that she’s been proud of me, and it’s been a terrible feeling for years. I’ve felt, and been essentially told that her expectations of what I should be are more important than what I want for myself. School has been the biggest problem by far, having expectations of being a good student is normal, but having it forced onto you until you feel as if that it’s your purpose and the only way to feel seen by your own mother is wrong. In 8th grade, I finished the year with straight A’s, and I felt proud, but looking back I just wanted my mom to be proud, and she was. Unfortunately, that was the last time I ever felt it. Thought high school, I’m currently in 12th grade, I was always working to make sure I had good grades. I never did it for me, I did it for her, because she told me that it mattered most. Freshman year was a good year for me, great GPA, all A’s and one B, good stuff like that. My sophomore year was during the pandemic so that never really counted. But junior year, is where the side of my mom that I never saw before emerged. It felt as if I was never enough. If my grade slipped to a C, or a missing assignment popped up on skyward, she would make it very clear that it was unacceptable. I remember during Christmas time, just before winter break, she had told me that C’s were unacceptable in this household. I remember begging to her that I’m trying my best and that isn’t fair to me, but she never listened, she wouldn’t even look at me. I remember just walking to my room and crying to sleep, I never felt so weak, since I’m a guy and haven’t cried in so long. Over the months, it got worse and worse, I would wake up to my grades being sent to me and messages like, “what the fuck is this?” “Unacceptable.” “You could easily bump this shit up” I hated it, all she would ever talk about is school and my grades. She got so comfortable with this that she would give me shit for having B’s, saying, “Yeah but it could be an A” It was never good enough, and it slowly turned into I was never good enough I argued with her so much just trying to make myself seem, just wanting to be listened to for once. We would literally yell at each other. After junior year finally ended, I opened up to one of my closest friends about the things that happened and how it made me feel. She told me that I never deserved that, and no mom should do that. When I finally stood up for myself and truly told her how I felt, she at first just walked away and cried. She later said that she felt attacked but she was sorry, but then again I shouldn’t approach her that way. After telling her that it was the only way that made her listen, she just said that she’s the worst mother ever. There’s so much more that happened over the summer and senior year, to sum it up: she constantly makes rude and snarky remarks that just brings me down, she still basically just talks about school and how I could be better, she said that she wouldn’t keep sending me my grades or giving me those high expectations, yet she’s done it quite a few times, but every time I bring it up, it’s her saying about how she changed and she’s better, which I guess is true so I brush it off. She slowly became someone that I just didn’t want to talk to or hang out with, someone that was just rude to me all the time and never saw me for who I was. Recently, I get really bad stomach problems in the morning, and I miss quite a bit of school because of it. My friends mom’s whenever something like this happens with their kids, comfort them and always check to see if they’re okay. My mom slams doors, doesn’t talk to me, gives me shit for missing school, and accuses me of lying. The only exception being when I had covid. I don’t feel any motherly love from her anymore. I just slowly started getting distant from her, and just never wanted to be around her. It’s to the point that whenever she asks me to hang out, I feel my stomach drop and my irritation rise. I never want to be home anymore, the only thing keeping me here is my bed and my squat rack. I don’t know what to do, I don’t want to lose the relationship with my own mom, I’m only 17, but at the same time I just don’t want to get close to her again, partly because I feel like I can’t. I feel so awful for saying I don’t like my mom, but I just can’t help it. I don’t know what to do.

2023.03.21 19:42 anonymoose54345 Landlord is selling property
Like the title says our independent landlord is selling the property we are living at. We have been living here for quite some time but we have no issue with finding a new place. The issue is the realtor has been showing up with potential homeowners or asking last minute to be let in to show the property. This is very annoying, I have 2 dogs who are not friendly. This is extremely stressful in itself with their training but adding on surprise strangers is aggravating it. I have asked for heads up but she only gives me a few hours heads up, I work from home so I can’t just pick up and leave to go to the dog park
We will be out of here in a few months anyway but would it be uncalled for to ask to lower rent a few hundred, to make up for the inconvenience? This transition hasn’t been smooth and is extremely frustrating. I didn’t sign up for this when we resigned our lease.

2023.03.21 19:18 crazyburneraccount America Rant: It's not just the "politicians" or "sensitive kids"
Contrary to popular belief, the so-called "United" States of America is not the freest country in the world. Not even moderately free!!! But here's the thing though, it's not just politicians that try to give this country a bad name.
America is only a free society compared to those run by actual dictators in authoritarian countries like Russia, China, Venezuela, etc. Even compared with collectivist homogenous societies like Italy and Saudi Arabia, America is a joke full of misinformation in the mainstream media and scare tactics used by supposedly God-fearing parents to hurt their children. Henry Ford is still taught in schools as a legend, when he was literally the only American to have been praised by the contemporary German Chancellor before World War II.
At or before the age of 12, I began to realize that this "free" shit-tier country was full of capitalistic corruption with a shitty school system and assholes for teachers too concerned attempting to get too involved in their students' personal lives. I was semi-ignorant of politics and racial issues at the time, even. All this "zero tolerance" BS for bullying and drugs.
Other countries, including Canada and Mexico, are laughing at us. American parents (mostly Christian and/or Republican) expect their kids to follow all aspects of whatever their own vision of "mainstream society" tells them to do, unless a part of that vision goes against their agenda. Opinions are considered or implied as "facts", and facts as "opinions".
America's overton window has shifted so far right over the last four decades that its "solid-left" (Biden, Harris, Newsom, Pelosi, etc.) is unofficially the equivalent to Germany and the UK's center-right. Funny thing is **I say this as someone who voted for Trump over Biden**, yet no one believes me when I spread the truth about the so-called "left-wing" in America. It's why I laugh (at least in my head) at my family members when they proclaim to be "centrists" or "independents."
Parents and teachers openly pick favorites, as it's considered "normal" in America. All this fake patriotism talk. The politicalization of religion and sports. America is a globalist country wearing a nationalist suit, that Henry Ford's racist and antisemitic "ideas" inspired countries from all over the world such as Germany and South Africa; and George W. Bush (the man behind ... well, y'know) literally pressured pastors and The Salvation Army to convert people in African countries (such as Rwanda) to Christianity.
Many kids become "sensitive" or "spoiled" or "bratty" (the correct term is "scarred") for the rest of their lives because their parents instill fear in them at a very young age (usually 5-11). This is considered "normal" behavior from the "parents" in North American (particularly US and Mexican) cultures.
Some countries in Europe, especially Sweden and Finland, are much happier places to live in than the US. Universal healthcare at no cost, universal college at a semi-no cost (even the government makes the students pay very little in taxes).
When my fellow Americans rant about inflation, gas/egg prices, etc., it doesn't affect what I do in my daily life. These f*ckers are broke as hell. Who cares about price. Especially when billionaires are starving some of us to death. Unless you're on some SSI or EBT shit, the government won't take any student seriously. Here's the funny part, you can't earn more than a certain amount per month and definitely not on a debit card. The government is the most ableist and classist sector of this entire country.
Age is treated like a numbers/market value/hierachal type'a game even outside of hot topics like consent.
Parents tell their kids not to be racist, while also spouting lowkey ethnonationalistic and blatantly homophobic, transphobic, and fatphobic BS. Total f*cking hypocrites.
I'm done ranting about America and the conservatives. Also to the hardline progressive side: Family Guy, South Park, and stand-up black comedy are not real-life 🤡

2023.03.21 18:52 nostone3241 The connection between Freemasonry, Indian residential schools, the Indian wars, the Indian removal act, the Indian act and the Indians-as-Israelites theory.
My name is Thomas Saul, I am a member of the
Skatin Nations tribe in British Columbia, Canada. I am of
Salish, and European descent. I began this project around May 2021 when news broke about the
Kamloops residential school where the remains of 215 children were allegedly found. As a teenager I briefly Attended Norkam secondary in Kamloops, and have friends and family who still live in Kamloops, so this hit close to home. Upon my research into The origin of this residential school I found that
Israel wood Powell, a Freemason, was the Indian Superintendent at the time it was built. Four generations of my family attended residential schools, some in
Port Alberni and some
Mission City, so naturally I wanted to know more. I have come to the conclusion that Colonisation,
Freemasonry, and residential schools go hand in hand. Its a Fact, both the United States and Canada would not exist without Freemasonry, Therefore many Freemasons played a leading role in the genocide of Indigenous Americans. “Freemasonry, as it exists in various forms all over the world, has a membership estimated at around 6 million worldwide.”
Genocide: The UN definition, which is used in international law, states that genocide is: "any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group," as such:(a) "Killing members of the group;"(b) "Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;"(c) "Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;"(d) "Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;"(e) "Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."
The supreme governor of the Church of England is the head of the Church of England, a position which is vested in the British monarch. The father of the
Royal Proclamation of 1763 King George III was not a Freemason, George III had announced that the colonies would
no longer seize Native lands or purchase them without treaties. Starting in 1763, no English settlers could legally travel through or acquire land west of the Appalachian Mountains. The proclamation specifically stated that Native Americans had been subject to “great Frauds and Abuses” and that their sovereignty should be protected. Freemason Thomas Jefferson in his list of 27 grievances accused the king saying “He has excited domestic Insurrections among us, and has endeavoured to bring on the Inhabitants of our Frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known Rule of Warfare, is an undistinguished Destruction, of all Ages, Sexes, and Conditions.’’ Thomas Jefferson did this to build support for the revolutionary act that the Declaration of Independence would represent. It was suspected that the Freemasons were behind the
Boston Tea Party, the
American War of Independence, the french
revolution, and
Napoleonic France triggering British prime minister William Pitt’s
, the Unlawful Societies Act of 1799 where he aimed to see Freemasonry abolished. Some Freemasons addressed Pitt explaining how vast their membership is and its connection to Royalty and As a result, Freemasons were excluded from the Act, but lodges were obliged to return a list of members to the local Clerk of the Peace every year, which are recorded in the Quarter Sessions.1. King George IV reigned from the death of George III until 1830, he was the first of many British Freemason kings and was the head of the Anglican church.
William IV,
Edward VII,
Edward VIII,
George VI were also masons. In the 209 years since the Union of the Premier and Ancient Grand Lodges to form the United Grand Lodge of England, a member of the Royal Family has been its Grand Master for more than 150.
A Freemason warrant of constitution is the Document which authorizes or gives a Warrant to certain persons therein named to organize and constitute a Lodge, Chapter, or other Masonic Body. The first Warrant for a military Lodge was issued by the Grand Lodge of Ireland in 1732 to the First British Foot Regiment. Within a few years the Grand Lodge of Scotland and both the Grand Lodge of England, Modern and Ancient were issuing Warrants to military Lodges. In 1733, 18 men gathered at the Bunch of Grapes Tavern on King Street in Boston and organized the first Masonic Lodge in North America. The first record of a military Lodge Warrant being issued in the new world happened during the French and Indian Wars. It was issued by the then Provincial Grand Master at Boston to the 28th British Foot in an expedition against the French at Crown Point. Edward Cornwallis became founder in December 1748, of a military Lodge in his regiment, the 20th. Foot, No. 63, on the registry of the Grand Lodge of Ireland. The warrant was issued to Lord George Sackville, Lieut. Col. The Hon. Edward Cornwallis and Captain Milburne. When in 1759 this famous regiment gained new honors at the battle of Minden, that name was immediately adopted as the name of the lodge. Cornwallis’ second lodge was founded in Halifax early in 1750 or possibly earlier, under a “deputation” or dispensation from Major Erasmus James Philipps of the 40th. Regiment at Annapolis Royal, Provincial Grand Master for Nova Scotia under Henry Price of Boston. Of this lodge, known as the First Lodge, Cornwallis was the first Master. Cornwallis In October 1749, issued an order that came to be known as the Scalping Proclamation. His government would pay a bounty to anyone who killed a Mi’kmaq adult or child in a bid to drive them off mainland Nova Scotia.
Sir William Johnson, an agent for the British Indian Department met
Joseph Brant, a 9-year-old Mohawk boy while doing a land deal with Joseph's father King Hendrick. Sir William eventually started a common-law relationship with Joseph's sister
Molly giving him incredible power over her tribe. Johnson groomed young Joseph Brant to become a loyal warrior and eventually leader of
the six nations tribe. At 13 years old Joseph accompanied Johnson on his first tour with the military. Missionary
Samuel Occham, a student of
Eleazar Wheelock (father of
The Great Awakening) procured a 19-year-old Joseph Brant to attend
Moore's Indian charity school in Lebanon Connecticut with the blessings and charity of William Johnson. Freemasons Benjamin Franklin and Benedict Arnold had also donated money to Wheelock’s cause. William was the British Crown's first superintendent of Indian Affairs for the colony in 1756 and Joseph Brant was appointed as a captain in the Indian Department. Many Freemason colonists were high-ranking military who waged many wars on the Indigenous American population, scientists say so many Indigenous people were killed as a result of colonization it caused a
mini ice age. After the North American wars, many Freemasons took positions as Indian agents helping to remove and segregate the native population. Anyone who wanted access to the six nations had to go through Indian agent Sir William Johnson and his family which includes the Brant family and the Kerr family through various marriages.
At one point Johnson proposed that the moor's Indian Charity School move from Lebanon, Connecticut, to Johnstown but it never happened. Eventually, Johnson withdrew the support for Wheelock. In a letter Wheelock had suggested to Lord Dartmouth "The Nations will not make war with us while their Children, and especially the Children of their chiefs are with us”
Dartmouth college claims that In 1766, Johnson was invited to join the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts (SPG), the largest and most influential Anglican missionary society in the 18th-century British-Atlantic world. He began working to place Anglican missionaries like Freemason and
bishop Charles Inglis, rather than Congregationalist and Presbyterian ones, among the Six Nations. I believe Moore's dubbed “the great design” was the original model for the Mohawk Institute and the Canadian residential school system.
On April 10, 1766
Sir William Johnson was raised to the position of Master Mason of St Patrick's Lodge No. 4 where many Freemason Indian agents like
John Butler,
Guy Johnson,
Sir John Johnson,
William Johnson Kerr,
Christian Daniel Claus, Gilbert Tice, George Croghan and A protégé of Reverend
Eleazar Wheelock,
Rev. Samuel Kirkland attended. In 1770 Johnson's fellow St Patrick's lodge Freemason Rev. Samuel Kirkland coincidentally parted ways with Wheelock and Moors charity school. Eventually Kirkland founded the
Hamilton-Oneida Academy as a boys' school in central New York. In 1776 Joseph Brant was initiated into the Freemason fraternity in London England where it is rumoured a benefactor of Moors charity school
king George III gave Brant his masonic apron. When Brant returned to Canada he became affiliated with Lodge No. 11 at the Mohawk village on the Grand River, of which he was the first
Worshipful Master, and later affiliated with Barton Lodge No. 10. Joseph Brant invited fellow Freemason and grandson of Eleazar Wheelock to be a minister to the Mohawk. To Joseph It was imperative that Freemason
Rev. Davenport Phelps was made minister of the Mohawks, so
he reminded the Bishop, through Sir John, of the pledge which the Archbishop of Canterbury had made to him in the presence of the King, that whenever the Indians, by the erection of a church, should be ready for religious instruction, he would do all in his power to supply their wants. A Freemason named
Rev. Robert Addison helped make this happen. Mr Addison, a relative of William Johnson, had been minister to the Six Nations and Joseph Brant and Freemason
John Norton were his translators. Freemason Reverend Davenport Phelps and Jarvis Wheelock, the brother of Eleazar, were invited to Canada and granted land by Freemason and founder of the family compact
John Graves Simcoe, the man behind the
Simcoe patent. Mrs Simcoe in her Diary says, “In April of the following year
Mary Brant (sister of Freemason Joseph Brant and common-law wife of Freemason Indian agent Sir William Johnson) successfully prescribed a favourite Indian remedy, the root of sweet flag (acorus calamus), for Governor Simcoe, who had been extremely ill with a persistent cough. The medicine relieved his malady “in a very short time. This brought the Brant family and Simcoe family close together. Davenport Phelps became the Worshipful Master of The Barton Lodge under Freemason
William Jarvis and he was the first chaplain at the Mohawk Chapel. Davenport was the leader of many Indian agents who were members of The Barton Lodge. I suspect Davenport's mission was to help with the so-called Indian problem.
Chief Joseph Brant has been accused on many occasions of selling off land for his own enrichment and in a lot of cases he sold land to Freemasons. He granted 999-year leases to many families, the Nelles, the Young’s, the families of Adam Young UE, his three sons, Lieutenant John Young (Indian department) UE, Sergeant Daniel Young UE, and Private Henry Young UE, along with Captain Henry William Nelles UE and his families (Rev. Abraham Nelles). Many of these Indian agents were members of The Barton Lodge. Both Captain Henry William Nelles UE and Adam Young UE, fourth great-grandfather of Robert Collins McBride UE, were also the first Freemasons to settle in Haldimand County. Freemasons
Robert Kerr and Rev. Robert Addison, William Kennedy Smith, also had land there. "There were very few outright legal sales of our land; 90 per cent of the leased land has never been paid for or paid to Six Nations," according to a
research document prepared by Six Nations. Many Freemasons were involved with the Simcoe patent and the
Haldimand Proclamation. Lieutenant Governor
John Graves Simcoe stated that the Indians could not lease their land since British subjects could lease land only from British subjects. Freemason
William Jarvis signed the Haldimand proclamation,
Freemason Thomas Ridout surveyor-general was behind the Ridout survey, Freemason
Sir Peregrine Maitland lieutenant governor informed them that they had no title to the northern part of the grant, Freemason John Butler acted as an agent of purchase on behalf of the government, F
reemason chief John Brant) and
Freemason Robert Johnson Kerr finally went to England to lobby on behalf of the Six Nations.
Freemasons King George IV, and King William IV, reigned from January 29 1820 to June 20 1837. The idea of residential school was brought forward by the Freemason Governor of Upper Canada, Sir Peregrine Maitland, within the context of a proposal he made in 1820 to the Colonial Office "for ameliorating the condition of the Indians in the neighbourhood of our settlements." Maitland's proposal contained most of the civilising concepts and techniques that would be adopted in the next three decades. The American Freemason, President Andrew Jackson succeeded in pushing the
Indian Removal Act through the United States Congress in 1828 leading to the trail of tears. John Brant solicited help from the New England company to build the Mohawk institute, the first residential school in Canada. The mohawk institute operated from 1831 to June 27, 1970. John Brant appointed Rev. Abraham Nelles son of Freemason Robert Nelles as principal of the Mohawk Institute. Abraham after over 30 years was succeeded by Freemason Robert Ashton
. Oronhyatekha aka Peter Martin was also a Freemason and played an important role in the development of the Mohawk Institute. The Arthur of the
Historical sketch of the Barton Lodge, No. 6, G.R.C., A.F. and A.M., says “the name of Brother John Brant is connected with important events in the history of Canadian Masonry.” John Brant is responsible for the formation of at
least 12 residential schools in Ontario, while Freemason Israel Powell the superintendent of Indian affairs in British Columbia Powell
“was able to boast that the government had established seventeen Indian schools, one for each year in office.”. Powell sought to establish several boarding schools across the province and particularly pushed for creating a school in Kamloops to address communities in the province’s interior. The school opened in Kamloops in 1890 and became one of the largest residential schools operated by Indian Affairs. The Freemason Organisation is
vicariously liable for all abuses in those residential schools.
In 1837 a Rebellion in Upper Canada was led by William Lyon Mackenzie, who was a fierce critic of Simcoe’s
Family Compact, an elite clique of businessmen and many Freemasons. Mackenzie opposed a system of land grants that favored settlers from Britain. Many Freemasons such as William Botsford Jarvis and
Sir Allen Napier Macnab who was Joint premier of the Province of Canada helped stop this rebellion. Sir Allen Macnab was succeeded by Freemason
Sir John A. Macdonald as Joint Premier. This Rebellion of 1837, this triggered the 6th generation Freemason Lord Durham to write
The Durham Report, he was appointed governor in chief of British North America. In his 1839 Report on the Affairs of British North America, he recommended that Upper and Lower Canada be united under a single Parliament, with responsible government. In 1863 a steamboat named
the Brother Johnathan) carried
smallpox from San Francisco to British Columbia killing 1/3rd of the Native population. Many Freemasons like
Thomas Harris the first mayor of Victoria,
Israel Wood Powell who served in the Victoria Rifle Volunteer Corps which was established to protect the colony from the indigenous population,
Amor De Cosmos who was the extremely racist editor of
The Daily British Colonist, and Ronald J. NcDonell clerk for
magistrate Pemberton who forced The Nuu-chah-nulth to leave their camp, escorted by two gunboats. There are many many more who may have purposefully mishandled the smallpox epidemic of 1863. British freemason
Edward Jenner created the life-saving smallpox vaccine but on the other hand Freemasons Jeffrey Amherst and Col Henry Bouquet have been accused of distributing
smallpox contaminated blankets to their enemies.
As early as 1866 Israel W. Powell, with his colleague Amor De Cosmos, had proposed confederation with the Canadian colonies.
Israel Wood Powell, Superintendent of Indian affairs also outlawed potlatching an indigenous ceremony In British Columbia. Following the Lord Durham’s report, Freemason Henry Howard Molyneux Herbert, 4th Earl of Carnarvon proposed
The British North America Act, 1867 Under section 91(24) of the Constitution Act, 1867, the federal government has exclusive legislative authority for "Indians, and Lands reserved for the Indians." Of the 36 Fathers of the Canadian confederation, 11 were Freemasons. One being Freemason Sir John A. Macdonald,
He was named by the United Grand Lodge of England as their Grand Representative near to the Grand Lodge of Canada. Sir John A. Macdonald took a page from American Freemason
Andrew Jackson's book by removing the Indigenous people from their land. He was proud that he was able to subdue the Indigenous people with less blood shed than his American brethren. One Of Macdonald's Legacies is the
Canadian Pacific Railway which displaced many tribes across Canada. Sir John A. Macdonald's campaign promise in the 1870s was that he would have a railway built that would link the country from coast to coast. Freemasons
Richard Marpole,
Sir Sandford Fleming,
Sir George J.A. Bury And the Chinese Freemasons of Vancouver and Alberta made Macdonald’s promise come true. As quickly as the railroad was laid Freemason lodges were erected.
Louis Riel a Métis hero, led two resistance movements against the Government of Canada and its Freemason Prime Minister, John A. Macdonald. Riel sought to defend Métis rights and identity. The Wolseley expedition was a military force authorized by Sir John A. Macdonald to confront Louis Riel and had been dispatched to Red River under Freemason
Colonel Garnet Joseph Wolseley. Another of Mcdonald's legacies is the
North West Mounted Police. Macdonald established the N.W.M.P in 1873 which boasted 750 Freemason members in its time. He claimed that “it was intended to have a body of mounted rifles to protect the people from the chance of an Indian war.’’ Meanwhile, The Pacific Scandal, the first major post-
Confederation political scandal in Canada,
Sir John Macdonald and senior members of his Conservative Cabinet were accused of accepting election funds for the contract to build the C.P rail.
The near completion of the railway allowed troops from eastern Canada to quickly arrive in the territory causing Riel to surrender to Canadian forces. The NWMP barracks was where Louis Riel was detained after his arrest in 1885 for leading the North-West Rebellion. Many Freemasons were involved in the defeat of Louis Riel. The RCMP museum had a display of the noose which hung Riel. Macdonald said this about Riel "He shall die though every dog in Quebec barks in his favor." John A. Macdonald is also one of the fathers of the Canadian
Indian act First passed in 1876. In 1879 Freemason Nicholas Flood Davin wrote the Report on Industrial Schools for Indians and Half-Breeds, otherwise known as The Davin Report. An amendment to the Indian Act in 1894 under Freemason Prime Minister Sir
Mackenzie Bowell, made attendance at
day schools,
industrial schools, or residential schools compulsory for First Nations children, resulting in over 100000 Indigenous children being forcefully removed from their families by Indian agents and the RCMP. From 1740 to 1896 The Mexican government's response to the various uprisings of the
Yaqui tribe have been likened to
genocide particularly under Freemason
Porfirio Diaz. Due to slavery and massacre, the population of the
Yaqui tribe in
Mexico was reduced from 30,000 to 7,000 under Diaz's rule. One source estimates at least 20,000 out of these Yaquis were victims of state murders in
Sonora. It was during this period of the conflict that the United States Army fought the last
battle of the
American Indian Wars, the final battle being the Wounded Knee Massacre December 29, 1890, and in the subsequent Drexel Mission Fight the next day. In recent history the statues of Freemason John A. Macdonald, Freemason Edward Cornwallis, Freemason George Washington, Freemason Lawrence Sullivan Ross, Freemason Robert E. Lee and Andrew Jackson have all been vandalized but no mention of their affiliation to the Freemasons in the news. We can't point fingers at the church or government without first confirming whether or not the accused are Freemasons.
The Order of the Eastern Star,
Job's Daughters, and
Rainbow Girls are masonic fraternities for women such as the daughter, widow, wife, sister, or mother of a Master Mason. All masons will cry out that Freemasonry has nothing to do with what an individual member has done, yet they all praise these men and prop them up as heroes. Freemasons claim to have superior morality compared to the average person, that they are the most honorable men on the planet, yet they refuse to acknowledge their members role in the genocide of the Indigenous Americans.
You may believe Freemasons are irrelevant nowadays but that is far from true. Winston Churchill is regarded as one of the greatest wartime leaders of the 20th century. Churchill was initiated into Studholme Lodge No. 1591 on 24 May 1901. He said of the Pashtun people “all who resist will be killed without quarter,” Pashtun territory was occupied by the British in 1848 and divided into two areas. Winston Churchill's policies caused a famine that claimed more than 3 million Indian lives during the The Bengal famine of 1943. President Harry Truman, known as one of the most dedicated men to have joined Masonry on the morning of August 6, 1945, ordered an American B-29 bomber to drop two atomic bombs over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The two bombings killed between 129,000 and 226,000 people, most of whom were civilians. John Edgar Hoover, more commonly referred to as J. Edgar Hoover, was an American attorney and director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Hoover was raised on November 9th 1920 in Federal Lodge No. 1 in Washington D.C. In 1919 Hoover became the head of the Bureau of Investigation's (predecessor of the FBI) new General Intelligence Division. The division was also called the Radical Division because it was the task of the division to find radical elements in American society to monitor and disrupt their activities. The Duke of Kent was initiated as a Freemason in Royal Alpha Lodge No. 16 in London on 16 December 1963.
The Duke of Kent, is now UGLE’s longest-serving Grand Master. The Duke’s brother, Prince Michael of Kent, is also a Freemason and is Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons, and Provincial Grand Master of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Middlesex. On 6 March 1953, HRH Prince Philip progressed to the Second Degree of Freemasonry, before advancing to the Third Degree on 4 May 1953.
I encourage those who have been affected by the actions of Freemasons to begin a class action lawsuit against this organization in what ever country, state or province you live in and hold Freemasonry accountable for genocide. The first thing a Freemason will say when presented with this evidence is you don't know how masonry operates, that the lodge is not responsible for individual members actions. That is exactly what the Catholic church said before the Canadian Court of Appeal on July 28, 2020 had found the Archdiocese vicariously liable for abuses committed by a civilian employee. I witnessed countless people stand up against the Catholic Church for what they have done and the Pope came to Canada and apologized. Now it's time to turn your sight toward Freemasonry. You must understand that all Freemasons on the American contenent have greatly benefited from the genocide of Indigenous Americans.
“ Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's acceptance of an inquiry's finding that Canada committed genocide against Indigenous people could have tremendous legal impact if a court ever weighs Ottawa's responsibility for crimes against humanity, experts say.”

and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths, and to secret proceedings. We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it.”

I am looking for someone to sublet my room in our 4 bed/2 bath apartment at Cedar Greens this summer, May 8th - August 27th (dates are somewhat flexible). Rent is $450/month plus utilities, comes with a parking spot, and you'll live with two of my roommates, Ellie and Emma. My other roommate is also in the process of subletting her room. We'll all be seniors next year and are looking for women to sublet. My cat, Greg from Accounting, will also be living with you in June-July while I'm doing an internship in Oregon, but will not be there all summer. I'll be moving back in at the end of August so I'll leave my bed, dresser, TV, and anything else you might need over the summer. My room also comes with a patio. Message me if interested and have questions.
